The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 19
The hot water washed over his body. Amidst the swirling mist, Lu Lin noticed the bite mark on Sang Weilian’s gland.
He hadn’t controlled himself well today; the bite was deep, and the tooth marks were rimmed with traces of blood.
Lu Lin raised his hand to touch it, but Sang Weilian had already finished rinsing the parts of Lu Lin he could reach. He stood up, handed the showerhead to him, and turned his head away. “Wash the rest yourself.”
“Okay. Thanks, Ge. Sorry for the trouble,” Lu Lin replied, withdrawing his hand with a smile.
It was an hour later by the time they both finished showering, one after the other.
As Sang Weilian came out drying his hair, he saw that the bedroom linens had been replaced with fresh ones, and the living room sofa had been tidied up with blankets laid out.
Lu Lin looked over. “Ge, let me blow-dry your hair for you.”
“No need.” Sang Weilian wrapped his hair in the towel, sat cross-legged on the sofa, and patted the empty spot in front of him. “Come here. Let me check your wound.”
Though they had been careful during the shower, it was hard to guarantee no water had splashed on it. Lu Lin was set to join a film crew next week; if the wound affected filming, it would leave a poor first impression on his collaborators.
Lu Lin had no choice but to walk over and offer his hand.
Sang Weilian removed the gauze. The edges of the stitched wound were slightly red and swollen. Because the medicine applied earlier had dried, it looked dark brown and gnarled like soaked tree bark—quite gruesome.
Averting his eyes, Sang Weilian opened a packet of medicinal solution, carefully applied it, and then meticulously wrapped the wound in fresh gauze.
Afterward, he reached out and lifted the hem of Lu Lin’s shirt.
The wound on the side of his waist was shallow. Although also somewhat swollen, it looked like it would be mostly recovered in a couple of days.
“Go sleep in the bedroom,” Sang Weilian said after finishing the treatment, his tone brooking no argument.
He had originally wanted to ask Lu Lin about the camera Liu Yingguang mentioned that had been taken, but Lu Lin usually didn’t hide serious matters from him. Given that he was injured today, it was better to wait until after a night’s rest to ask.
Lu Lin opened his mouth to speak several times, but Sang Weilian gave him no opportunity, turning toward the bathroom to grab the hairdryer.
Left with no choice, he obediently went to the bedroom.
Being alone wasn’t bad; he needed time to talk to Wan Tianhai about what happened tonight.
He had originally thought he could handle things in Haicheng without using too many connections, but since Liu Yingguang had gone as far as showing up at the door with a knife to harm Sang Weilian, he would remain a menace if released. Rotting in prison was the end he deserved.
Outside, the sky was pitch black, with only a faint, dim moonlight filtering down.
The house was silent. Sang Weilian stared at the closed bedroom door for a while before walking out to the balcony.
This was an old residential compound inhabited mostly by the elderly. At this hour, it was eerily quiet, save for the occasional thwack of flying insects hitting the streetlights.
Irritation slowly began to build in Sang Weilian. His mind was filled with images of Lu Lin stepping in front of him and getting hurt.
If that knife hadn’t been slightly off, the wound on Lu Lin’s waist would have been far more than a mere graze. And what if it hadn’t hit his waist? What if it had hit his heart?
His heart throbbed with a sudden ache. Sang Weilian took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
It was like that back then, too. The white blade went in, and the red blade came out—and then he no longer had a home.
Sang Weilian opened his eyes again. A vivid red spread before his vision, and the discomfort in his heart intensified. He searched for something to lean on, and finally, instinctively seeking security, he found himself following the scent of pheromones until he reached the bedroom door.
With a click, the sound of the doorknob turning brought Sang Weilian back to his senses slightly.
He looked down at his hand on the handle. Just as he was about to withdraw it in a daze, the door opened from the inside.
Noticing that Sang Weilian was covered in sweat, Lu Lin asked urgently, “Ge, why are you sweating so much? What happened?”
“It’s nothing. Why aren’t you asleep?” Sang Weilian asked in a low voice, avoiding Lu Lin’s gaze.
“I couldn’t sleep. You’re too far away, and the wound… it gets uncomfortable at night,” Lu Lin said with a hint of grievance, reaching out to turn on the light.
Sang Weilian hurriedly stopped him. “Don’t turn on the light!”
As Lu Lin’s wrist was gripped, he realized the other man’s palm was icy cold. This didn’t seem like “nothing.”
Turning his hand to cup the other’s, he asked, “Is it too cold in the living room?”
“…It’s not.” Being in close proximity to the Alpha who had temporarily marked him calmed Sang Weilian’s emotions significantly. The boundless crimson before his eyes began to fade.
He took a step forward and made a decision the old him would never have made: “Let’s sleep together.”
Lu Lin froze. He hadn’t expected such a massive reward just from a bit of acting spoiled.
Seeing him stay silent, Sang Weilian began to feel awkward. “You don’t want to? Then forget it.”
He shouldn’t have had the thought that being with Lu Lin tonight would mean not having to stay awake until dawn maybe I could actually get some good sleep.
He had clearly decided from the start not to become overly dependent on an Alpha. How could he still be trying to rely on Lu Lin to alleviate his negative emotions?
“Of course I want to!” Seeing him about to return to the living room, Lu Lin hurriedly grabbed him, accidentally tugging the wound on his waist and hissing as he inhaled sharply.
Sang Weilian glared at him. “What’s the rush? How fast can I possibly walk?”
“It wasn’t easy to get the chance to sleep with you, Ge. If I missed it this time, I’d really be anxious.” Lu Lin let him turn on the light to check the wound. Fortunately, it wasn’t bleeding, but Sang Weilian’s overly pale complexion worried him.
Sang Weilian felt there was something off about his words, but he couldn’t put his finger on it, so he urged him back into the bedroom.
Lu Lin closed the door, and they lay down on opposite sides of the bed.
Sharing the same quilt, they initially lay stiffly. Later, Sang Weilian thought about how ridiculous they must look from a bird’s-eye view like two flatbreads so he rolled over, his back to Lu Lin, though he couldn’t close his eyes.
After a bit of rustling, Lu Lin also rolled over, his burning gaze landing on the back of Sang Weilian’s head.
Sang Weilian naturally felt the gaze, making it even harder to sleep. Moreover, he had broken into a cold sweat not long ago; now that the quilt was propped up, the sweat on his back felt chilly as it dried.
The scent of mountain spring pheromones drifted out unconsciously. Sang Weilian couldn’t help but shimmy backward a little, and then a little more.
He paused for a moment, sensing that the gaze on his back seemed to have vanished. Aside from even breathing, there was no movement.
Lu Lin must have fallen asleep.
Thinking this, Sang Weilian carefully and slowly turned over. Finally facing Lu Lin, his cold back was covered by the quilt, and he felt much better.
He looked up. Only a few inches away was Lu Lin’s sleeping face, eyes closed.
As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, Sang Weilian used the faint moonlight to trace Lu Lin’s features in his mind.
He had to admit, Lu Lin was the most handsome Alpha he had ever seen, and the most well-behaved.
Though they were both getting what they needed from the arrangement, Lu Lin was truly good to him.
“…I’m sorry. I dragged you into this and got you hurt.”
In the darkness, Sang Weilian softly and slowly voiced the apology he had been holding in all night. Though the heavy emotion in his heart barely lifted, it was something he needed to say.
Sniffing the faint, sweet scent of mountain springs, Sang Weilian let out a long breath, comforted himself, and closed his eyes.
In the next second, his waist grew heavy. A warm arm cinched around him, and just as he opened his eyes, he was pulled into Lu Lin’s embrace.
He asked in surprise, “Why aren’t you asleep again?”
“I had things on my mind, but now I don’t.” Lu Lin used his injured left arm to hold Sang Weilian, not worried about him struggling. “There’s no need for ‘sorry.’ What happened today wasn’t your fault. And when I stepped in to block that, it wasn’t because I wanted you to feel guilty.”
“I was just afraid you’d get hurt.”
Sang Weilian’s heart skipped a beat as he looked into Lu Lin’s bottomless dark eyes. Those eyes held an extreme tenderness; just one look made his entire body feel soft and tingling.
Lu Lin’s words were too intimate he had even dropped the “Ge.”
Lu Lin added unhurriedly, “As long as I am your Alpha, even for one day, I will protect you whenever you need it. This is what I should do to stay by your side.”
“You’ve always been so good to me, Ge. I can’t just hide in a greenhouse with a clear conscience. I want to be better than any other Alpha better than any Beta or Omega. That way, you’ll surely keep me around a little longer.”
Hearing the latter half, a very faint sense of disappointment flickered in Sang Weilian’s heart. So, he’s just fulfilling his duties as a “canary.”
However, that emotion quickly dissipated. He laughed softly and patted Lu Lin’s head. “Your boss is very picky. Don’t think just anyone can climb into my bed.”
If he weren’t lying in bed, Lu Lin would have jumped up to cheer. “Mm! I also think having me is enough for you, Ge!”
“I’ll only let you be smug for two days.”
“As you command!” Lu Lin pulled him a bit closer. With the scents of wild rose and mountain spring intertwined around his nose, he asked the question that had kept him anxious all evening. “Then… are you still mad at me, Ge?”
Sang Weilian paused, then shook his head after a moment. “Why would I be mad at you? I’m only mad at myself for not handling this well and involving you. But after I meet with Wang Gu tomorrow, it’ll be dealt with.”
Lu Lin felt wonderful. Sang Weilian was constantly thinking of him he was dying of happiness!
Since he was allowed to be smug for two days, it would surely be fine to show it today.
With that thought, Lu Lin took advantage of the gap while Sang Weilian was speaking to lean in and kiss his slightly parted lips.
Sang Weilian was stunned. Lu Lin seized the opportunity, his tongue prying open the teeth to deepen the kiss directly.
“Lu…” Sang Weilian couldn’t form words, losing his breath after just one syllable.
Because Lu Lin was injured, he didn’t dare move recklessly. Ultimately, he could only press his hands against Lu Lin’s firm chest, gradually sinking into the kiss under the influence of their blending pheromones.
The gland on his nape, marked with tooth prints, began to burn. Lu Lin’s slightly rough fingertips brushed against the skin around the gland, eventually coming to rest right beside the bite mark, massaging it with varying pressure.
Sang Weilian felt the sensitive nerves of the gland tingle all the way down, bringing a wave of numbness. His whole body went limp, and his hands unconsciously gripped Lu Lin’s pajamas, actually pulling open two buttons.
The long, deep kiss made them both feel as if they were drifting among the clouds. When they finally pulled apart, their hot breaths were filled with the lingering, ambiguous scent of each other’s pheromones.
“Sorry. I got too smug, and since I only have two days to be smug, I couldn’t help myself.” Lu Lin’s thumb brushed over Sang Weilian’s glistening, moist lips. “You won’t blame me, right, Ge?”
Sang Weilian nearly choked on his breath. He gave him a sharp, annoyed glare before turning over to show him nothing but his back. “Go to sleep!”
“Okay. Goodnight, Ge.” Lu Lin smiled triumphantly, his chest pressed tightly against the other’s back as he pulled the quilt tight, wrapping them both up snugly.
