The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 15
Their breath was mere inches apart. The faint scent of mountain spring water began to spread, intertwining with the increasingly rich fragrance of wild roses in the air.
Sang Weilian raised his other hand, his soft fingertips brushing against the corner of Lu Lin’s lips. He trailed them slowly upward along the side of Lu Lin’s face, drawing the distance between them even closer.
Lu Lin’s heart hammered incessantly. The interior of the car was ambiguous and quiet; he felt that if they got any closer, Sang Weilian would be able to hear his heartbeat.
He yearned for Sang Weilian’s kiss, even if it were just a fleeting touch like a dragonfly skimming the water. However, the other man clearly held him in the palm of his hand with ease; the mere friction and touch of skin against skin made his heart itch with unbearable longing.
Though his desire was immense, Lu Lin knew how to exercise restraint.
He had to be an obedient canary. He must accept what the master gave, but he could not demand what the master did not offer otherwise, there would be no chance for a “promotion” next time.
Their pressed palms grew hot. Sang Weilian effortlessly pulled the man forward a tiny distance. With just a slight tilt of the head, they would be kissing.
His eyes flickered as he caught a glimpse of the traffic light about to turn green in his peripheral vision.
A pity—
With just ten more seconds, he could have rewarded Lu Lin with a kiss.
Sang Weilian’s slender, lily-white hand stroked Lu Lin’s deeply contoured face, finally coming to rest by his slightly reddened ear.
There wasn’t a single piercing on the earlobe. If they were back in school, Lu Lin would surely be the type of student teachers loved most.
His fingertips pinched the rounded earlobe. It was meant to be a punishment, yet the strength was so light it felt like flirting; it was hard to say it wasn’t actually a reward.
The moment the red light turned green, Sang Weilian let go. He pushed Lu Lin back and sat upright in the passenger seat with a composed expression.
“Hurry up and drive,” he urged intentionally.
Beep—
The sound of a car horn blared right on cue.
Lu Lin rubbed his burning earlobe. Although his heart was filled with the unbearable ache of regret and longing, he still obediently drove the car out of the intersection.
Because it was peak off-work hours, the supermarket was crowded. To avoid unnecessary trouble, Sang Weilian waited in the car while Lu Lin went in alone to buy groceries.
Precisely because he was alone, he finally had the chance to ask Wan Tianhai about the follow-up on that suspicious person from the afternoon.
“Did you find the person?”
“Boss, I’m sorry. He seems very familiar with the company,” Wan Tianhai said. “When I sent security to look for him and had the monitoring room follow up, he vanished from the surveillance range very quickly and disappeared. No suspicious vehicles entered or exited the parking lot, but one security guard mentioned seeing a suspicious person a few days ago.”
“The man claimed to be Fang Wenbin’s assistant. He was carrying a large black backpack. When he was spotted, he was standing next to Fang Wenbin’s nanny van, and then he entered the company. The parking lot surveillance did capture him, but his face wasn’t visible. As for the internal company surveillance… just like today, he clearly knew the blind spots.”
“I also checked the company records. Fang Wenbin’s assistant is a female Beta. This person is likely just impersonating that identity.”
“I have a pinhole camera here,” Lu Lin said. “There was a gift from a fan in Sang Weilian’s lounge; the camera was discovered inside it.”
“Are you saying this person might be a stalker fan of Mr. Sang?”
“No. Besides being very familiar with the company, this person knew that Wang Gu would help Sang Weilian move all the fan gifts into the lounge. He knew Sang Weilian always opens gifts alone and that it takes several days to finish. Combined with the fact that he can enter and exit the lounge freely, recovering the camera before being caught wouldn’t be difficult for him.”
“That person likely has a company access card and a key to Sang Weilian’s lounge. He knows the usual parking spot for Weilian’s van, as well as Fang Wenbin’s. He’s likely a former staff member who worked closely with Sang Weilian.”
“…Are you referring to the former assistant mentioned when the rumors were cleared last time?” Wan Tianhai recalled the information almost instantly. “I remember he was sentenced to six months for theft, but because his family repaid most of the money, it was reduced to two months.”
“Investigate it quickly. Contact me once you find something.”
“Also, pick a few Betas who are meticulous, have a good attitude, and can keep their mouths shut. I want to personally select an assistant for Weilian.”
After giving the instructions seriously, Lu Lin paid for the fresh fish and vegetables.
In the car, Sang Weilian received a message from Director He Ming while waiting.
River Has a Deity: Mr. Sang, the other lead has been decided. It’s Mr. Yu Guangxi. I’ve already added him to the production group chat~
River Has a Deity: Mr. Sang, if it’s convenient, should I push your WeChat contact to him?
S_: Sure.
Sang Weilian had some impression of Yu Guangxi. They had met at last year’s Golden Feather Awards; Yu Guangxi won Best Supporting Actor.
Yu Guangxi was a Beta who debuted through an idol survival show. A year after his debut, he transitioned from an idol singer to an actor. Although his talent was average, he was hardworking and steady. Over the four years since his transition, he had worked on numerous sets. Despite mostly playing supporting roles, his progress was visible to the naked eye.
River Has a Deity: Mr. Yu might talk a bit much. He says he’s a fan of yours, so please bear with him.
S_: It’s fine.
Just as Sang Weilian finished replying, a friend request popped up.
“Xi Xi Hee Hee Hee” requested to add you as a friend. Note: Hello Mr. Sang!!! I am your super-duper invincible die-hard fan Yu Guangxi!!! You are the idol of my life!!! Please, you must accept my friend request!!! Love you!!!
Sang Weilian: “…”
For a moment, he really didn’t want to accept.
After a brief hesitation, he pressed “Accept.” The car door opened, and Lu Lin leaned in to sit down.
Sang Weilian glanced at the time the grocery shopping had taken half an hour. He put down his phone and spoke with a hint of complaint, “Why did it take so long?”
“My fault for making you wait, Ge.” Lu Lin didn’t feel wronged at all. He pulled a bag of soft candies from his pocket with a smile, then reached out to take Sang Weilian’s hand and placed the candies in his palm. “I remembered you like these. Don’t be angry, okay?”
Sang Weilian looked down lychee flavor. He did indeed like them.
His palm tightened around the bag, and his heart felt a surge of warmth. He turned his head away. “I’m not a child, you don’t need to coax me with candy. I’m not angry; I’m not that petty.”
“What’s that in your hand?”
Lu Lin shook the black bag. “This? Underwear in my size. I can’t keep borrowing yours every day.”
Sang Weilian froze, his face flushing as he urged, “Fine, fine, let’s just go home.”
Lu Lin responded with a gentle “Okay.”
Sang Weilian stole a side glance at him.
With such a good temper so patient and obedient where else could he find a second canary as well-behaved as this?
Lost in his thoughts, he looked down to tear open the candy packaging, chewing them one by one. The sweet lychee flavor bloomed in his mouth, refreshing and delicious. After a while, it actually made his heart feel a bit tingly.
“Tofu fish soup, stir-fried shrimp with eggs, shredded pork with green peppers, and lettuce in oyster sauce.” Lu Lin placed the dishes on the table one by one. “Everything’s ready. I’ll go get the rice; Ge, you start with the fish soup.”
“Okay.” Three meat dishes and one vegetable it was a feast for the senses. Lu Lin’s cooking was excellent; before the rice even arrived, Sang Weilian had already finished a bowl of soup.
“How is it? Does it suit your taste?” Lu Lin asked expectantly as he handed him the rice.
“It’s delicious.” Sang Weilian put down his phone and focused on eating. “These green peppers are sweet.”
“I specifically picked sweet peppers. I remembered, Ge, that you don’t eat spicy food. If you like them, eat more.” As he spoke, Lu Lin placed a serving of shredded pork and peppers into Sang Weilian’s bowl.
Just as he withdrew his chopsticks, the phone nearby “beeped” several times.
Sang Weilian didn’t even look. He reached out to silence it and continued eating.
Lu Lin glanced at it briefly, then went back to his meal.
After dinner, Sang Weilian walked around the house a few times. Once his food had settled, he intended to take a bath. To his surprise, when he stepped into the bathroom, the tub was already filled, and a bath bomb had been added for ambiance.
It had to be Lu Lin.
Sang Weilian walked to the kitchen in his slippers. Seeing Lu Lin brewing kumquat lemon tea, he reached out to tilt Lu Lin’s face toward him. “You drew the bathwater?”
“Mm.” Lu Lin acted like a docile large dog, nuzzling against Sang Weilian’s palm.
Sang Weilian gave a light chuckle. He tilted his head up and pressed a very light kiss on Lu Lin’s lower lip, saying in a cheerful tone, “A reward for the ‘Snail Young Master.'”
Lu Lin froze in surprise. The hand holding the spoon shook, nearly sending a kumquat flying out of the pot.
“What? Am I some kind of monster? Does a kiss scare you that much?” Sang Weilian arched an eyebrow, seemingly waiting to see what excuse he would make.
“No, I was just wondering if this counts as being promoted two levels in one day from a canary to a ‘Young Master.'” Lu Lin joked back.
Sang Weilian laughed even harder. “Yes, yes, Young Master.”
Lu Lin turned the stove to low heat and covered the pot. “Then…”
He only uttered that one word before hooking Sang Weilian’s hand with his right index finger and grasping his wrist with his left. In an instant, he pinned him against the door.
In those few seconds, he judged that Sang Weilian had no intention of resisting. He lowered his head, pried open the other man’s teeth, and kissed him.
As their breaths became entangled, Sang Weilian’s waist grew numb and his legs gradually weakened. If Lu Lin hadn’t shifted one hand to support his waist, he probably wouldn’t have been able to stand.
Their bodies pressed tightly together through the soft fabric of their clothes. The pheromones of mountain spring and wild rose grew increasingly potent in the air, nearly crowding out the vast space of the kitchen.
The excessively high matching rate screamed for attention. Sang Weilian felt a faint throbbing pain in the gland at the back of his neck. Lu Lin’s fingertips brushed around the area, and every inch of skin touched grew even more scalding.
Seeing that things were about to spiral out of control, Lu Lin took the initiative to pull away before Sang Weilian could push him.
His eyes were slightly red, his voice restrained and husky. “Ge, sorry. I took a ‘salary bonus’ for my promotion without permission.”
Sang Weilian’s chest heaved as he panted for breath.
Lu Lin’s deep, dark eyes were fixed on Sang Weilian’s swollen, glistening lips. His throat moved several times; he endured and endured, forcibly suppressing his desire, looking at Sang Weilian with a pitiful gaze.
Sang Weilian’s breathing gradually steadied. Originally, he felt it was a bit embarrassing to lose his composure over just a kiss, but seeing Lu Lin’s current well-behaved appearance, he couldn’t stay angry.
However, he naturally wasn’t willing to just let the other person win a round. Taking it back with interest was his style.
Straightening his back, Sang Weilian closed in on Lu Lin, his hand unexpectedly reaching downward.
The shock on Lu Lin’s face was genuine. How could someone with a self-esteem as strong as Sang Weilian’s possibly help him with this? He instinctively raised his hand to stop him. “Ge, don’t…”
But Sang Weilian acted as if he hadn’t heard. He simply leaned his head against Lu Lin’s neck, his scorching breath bringing further agitation.
Lu Lin clenched his teeth, suppressing a sound in his throat.
Then, everything came to an abrupt halt.
Sang Weilian withdrew his hand and wiped it on the bear-patterned apron Lu Lin was wearing. Though his cheeks were flushed, his tone was light and vengeful. A mischievous glint flickered in his dark blue eyes.
“Solve it yourself. You’re the most obedient, right?”
