The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 16
Soaking in the bathtub, Sang Weilian felt leisurely and content, his mind filled with Lu Lin’s bewildered and pitiful expression from moments ago.
Occasionally bullying the obedient young master was truly too much fun.
Sang Weilian let out a few short chuckles and lifted his hand from the water. His palm held a fair amount of white foam which, mixed with water, slowly slid down his fair, lotus-root-like forearm before finally splashing back into the tub.
It was an entirely normal sight, yet Sang Weilian couldn’t help but think back to when he was teasing Lu Lin. If he had helped him all the way to the end, it would probably look much like this.
His fingertips trembled slightly, and the pheromones inside his body showed signs of spiraling out of control.
Sang Weilian took a long, deep breath and shifted his gaze toward the bathroom door.
He was a grown man; having desires was perfectly normal. However, he was usually too busy and constantly plagued by Pheromone Disorder, so he had always been averse to self-solace. In any case, he could control it just by drinking suppressants or taking a cold shower.
But now, Lu Lin was right outside that door, somewhere in this house, doing exactly what he had been ordered to do.
It wasn’t convenient to go out and get suppressants. They were under the same roof, in the same situation.
It seemed that doing the same thing wasn’t so unacceptable after all.
Having completed his mental preparations, Sang Weilian reached out and turned on the faucet by the tub. Warm water gurgled out, and soon the bathroom was filled with thick mist. Accompanied by the constant sound of flowing water, it concealed his deeply repressed, low moans.
Feeling the wild rose pheromones leaking into the air, Lu Lin’s jaw tightened. The veins on his forearms bulged as his sharp, dark gaze locked firmly onto the bathroom door.
Through the door, he could only hear the splashing of water; behind the frosted glass, the scene inside was a hazy blur.
Gripping the marble countertop tightly with his left hand, Lu Lin closed his dark eyes, which were filled with desire. The image of Sang Weilian’s provocative and alluring smile from earlier surfaced in his mind. He let out a long sigh and could no longer hold back, releasing everything into his palm.
Suppressing the restless pheromones in his body, Lu Lin washed his hands with a stony face, changed out of his dirty apron, and cleaned up the mess. After pouring the already brewed kumquat lemon tea into a cup, he finally picked up the phone that had been ringing several minutes ago.
He returned the call, and Wan Tianhai’s voice came through.
“Boss, I’ve found information on Teacher Sang’s former assistant.”
This single sentence snapped Lu Lin’s thoughts back to reality, which had nearly been dominated by desire.
“Speak.”
“The former assistant is named Liu Yingguang, an Alpha. However, he suffers from Pheromone Deficiency Syndrome, so his pheromone concentration is much lower than an average Alpha’s. It’s a hereditary disease; his Omega mother had it even worse and was in the ICU for years.”
“She passed away shortly after he went to prison. He was released two months ago and intermittently interviewed for several jobs, but was rejected because of his criminal record. He vanished half a month ago and hasn’t appeared since.”
“Understood. Tomorrow, I’ll give you the pinhole camera. Send it to the police station and find someone reliable to start the investigation. As for Liu Yingguang’s whereabouts, keep an eye out and contact me immediately if there’s any movement,” Lu Lin instructed.
“Understood.”
“Also, have the Lu family’s PR team monitor the online sentiment closely. If anything unfavorable to Sang Weilian appears, intercept it entirely.”
He was the one who found the pinhole camera in Sang Weilian’s dressing room today, and the lens surely captured him as well. If those images were synchronized and leaked online, it would likely be detrimental to Sang Weilian.
Every factor negative to Sang Weilian should be eliminated including himself.
“Rest assured, sir.”
Hanging up the phone, Lu Lin leaned over to tie the trash bag containing the “evidence” securely. He glanced at the bathroom, where the sound of water was still continuous, and decided to go downstairs to take out the trash first.
When he stepped out of the bathroom wrapped in a robe, Sang Weilian was so exhausted he didn’t want to lift a finger.
Languidly, he followed the rich scent of mountain spring pheromones in the air all the way to the kitchen. He expected Lu Lin to be there, but to his surprise, there were only two steaming cups of kumquat lemon tea sitting on the marble counter.
Having just released and then soaked in the tub, Sang Weilian was parched. He picked up one of the cups and began sipping as he surveyed the changes in the house.
Everywhere was neat and tidy, but the trash can was empty.
So, he had gone to destroy the “evidence.”
At that thought, Sang Weilian instantly realized his own “evidence” had already been flushed down the drain.
“Cough, cough, cough…” The sudden surge of shame caused him to accidentally choke on the tea. Sang Weilian patted his chest and, on a whim, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room with his cup.
Lu Lin happened to emerge from the blind spot of the building’s corner. The Alpha, who was usually so tall and imposing, looked tiny from this distance. Sang Weilian held up his hand to measure; the man wasn’t even as large as half a finger joint.
He kept his thumb and index finger at a certain distance, framing Lu Lin between them as if he were pinching him and making him walk forward. It was quite amusing.
Sang Weilian unconsciously curled his lips into a smile when his phone rang, snapping him out of his reverie. He glanced at the caller ID; it was He Ming.
He pressed the answer button, and the other man’s voice came through: “Teacher Sang, I hope I’m not disturbing you this late?”
Sang Weilian looked up again, but Lu Lin’s figure was gone. Feeling a bit disappointed, he turned and sat on the sofa. “Director He, is there something you need this late?”
“It’s like this: our crew has scheduled the opening ceremony for March 10th. After the ceremony, I’d like to arrange a dinner for everyone. Do you think that would be alright?” It was common knowledge in the industry that Sang Weilian didn’t like attending social gatherings, but He Ming still wanted to try. If it worked out, it would be good for the cast and crew’s rapport.
Sang Weilian instinctively frowned. Crew gatherings were crowded and pheromones were chaotic. In the past, to avoid the effects of Pheromone Disorder and ensure his best working state, he was always unwilling to go. But things were different now. With Lu Lin’s pheromones to soothe him, his body’s vitals were recovering, and this seemed like an opportunity to adapt to normal social interaction.
“That’s fine.” Just as Sang Weilian finished speaking, the sound of a passcode being entered came from the entrance.
He Ming was incredibly excited on the other end of the line: “Then it’s a deal! I’ll go tell everyone the good news right now! Teacher Sang, see you on the 10th!”
He finished shouting and hurriedly hung up.
Sang Weilian put down his phone, his gaze instinctively moving toward the door.
The sound of the passcode being entered continued, but it had already failed twice, and the person outside still hadn’t entered.
Strange. It wasn’t Lu Lin’s first time staying over; had he still not memorized the code?
Frowning, Sang Weilian walked toward the entryway and looked through the peephole. The hallway was empty; no one was there.
A sense of eeriness crept into his heart. Sang Weilian hurried back to the living room to find his phone and call Lu Lin.
To his surprise, after taking only two steps, the front door was opened.
The scent of an Alpha completely different from Lu Lin’s flooded the room. The smell was very faint, like air, but the pressure belonging to an Alpha was still obvious. The intruder was clearly there with the intent of suppressing him with pheromones.
An uncomfortable palpitation surfaced, and every inch of his skin erupted in dense, stinging pain, accompanied by intermittent ringing in his ears. Sang Weilian gasped for breath; these were all precursors to an onset of Pheromone Disorder.
He leaned against the edge of the sofa, forcing himself to look up, and locked eyes with the hideously grinning Liu Yingguang.
“It’s you…”
Lu Lin walked into the building, and the elevator indicator light had just risen to the number “2.” This complex had one unit per floor, and there was only one elevator per building. Unfortunately, he had missed this trip and needed to wait a while.
He wondered if Sang Weilian had finished his bath; he really wanted to get back quickly. Perhaps he could even help Sang Weilian dry his hair.
Thinking of the texture of Sang Weilian’s soft hair, his flushed cheeks after a bath, Lu Lin’s heart softened instantly.
A draft blew through, swirling the air in the hallway. Dust rose and then scattered haphazardly, disrupting the harmony of everything.
Lu Lin’s expression froze as he looked at the closed elevator doors. He sensed the residue of an Alpha’s pheromones. Although it had no scent and had blended with the air, it was different from the mix of soil, floral notes, dust, or even the damp night air; it was definitely an Alpha’s pheromones.
It was exactly the same as the pheromones on the person he had bumped into in the company hallway that afternoon.
Driven by the keen instincts of a high-quality Alpha, Lu Lin glanced at the floor number on the elevator—it had just reached the 16th floor. He turned without a word and sprinted into the emergency stairwell.
He had been careless.
Liu Yingguang had been Sang Weilian’s assistant for so long that even after being fired, he would have ways to enter and exit the company freely. It was only natural that he knew where Sang Weilian lived.
Furthermore, now that the camera had been removed, the intruder would know he had been discovered since he could no longer sync the footage. If he was desperate for revenge, he would certainly come to the door.
The pitch-black stairs felt like a never-ending maze, round and round.
His footsteps caused the lights in the stairwell to flare to life. Lu Lin’s face was grim, and his dark eyes were like a deep pool with no visible bottom.
Sang Weilian cannot get hurt. Sang Weilian absolutely cannot get hurt!
“Sang Weilian, even you have a day like this.” Seeing Sang Weilian slumped on the ground, Liu Yingguang laughed triumphantly. “You hate Alphas? But you’re an Omega. No matter how much you hate Alphas, don’t you still have to kneel before one?”
Sang Weilian acted as if he hadn’t heard, his head lowered as he gasped for air.
The suppressants were right at hand, in the medicine box on the second shelf of the coffee table. As long as he took advantage of Liu Yingguang’s inattention, he could reach them.
Liu Yingguang took a step forward, looking down at Sang Weilian, his voice as raspy as a broken gong: “You make tens of millions for a single movie, you get more gifts from brands than you can use, and even those fans of yours are crazy enough to send you things for fear you’ll be cold or hungry. They run to Weibo to howl if you suffer even a tiny bit of grievance.”
“I only took a few extra things you didn’t even use, and you fired me and called the police to arrest me?”
“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have gone to prison, and my mother wouldn’t have died!”
Liu Yingguang paused, seemingly sensing something, and let out an incredulous laugh: “What is this? I thought it was strange when I first came in. The Great Movie King Sang, who claims to hate Alphas, has such a thick scent of Alpha pheromones in his home.”
“That person even went into your dressing room. No wonder the camera is gone.”
“Sang Weilian, you couldn’t have… been marked, could you?”
Liu Yingguang crouched down, his narrow eyes squinting under a black baseball cap. He reached out to grab Sang Weilian’s hair, wanting to see the gland on the back of his neck.
Taking advantage of his distraction, Sang Weilian grabbed the glass flower vase from the coffee table and smashed it against him.
Liu Yingguang clutched his bleeding forehead as the water from the vase blurred his vision.
“Dammit!” he cursed loudly, frantically wiping the water from his face with his sleeve.
Sang Weilian didn’t hesitate for a second. He pulled out the medicine box, quickly downed two tubes of suppressants, and slapped on a gland patch to cover his own gland, trying to slow the influence of the Alpha’s pheromones.
His phone was pinned under Liu Yingguang; he couldn’t use it. He could only drag his weak legs toward the landline to dial.
“Hello! Someone has broken into Unit 1601, Building 6…”
Before he could finish, accompanied by a sharp cry of “Watch out!”, the familiar scent of mountain spring pheromones wafted past.
Sang Weilian turned his head and saw Lu Lin, drenched in sweat, shielding him with his jaw set tight.
Looking down, he saw a sharp short-sword reflecting silver light pressed against Lu Lin’s abdomen. The blade was stained with blood, which dripped onto the polished floor one drop at a time.
