The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 13
After a night of peaceful sleep, Sang Weilian was awakened by a phone call from Wang Gu.
“Just a reminder, don’t forget the Siny promotional event this afternoon.”
The last Siny headphone event had been unexpectedly interrupted. Now that Sang Weilian’s health had recovered, normal promotion had to continue. However, this time, the event was linked to the hospital’s pheromone database using a full real-name system, and the security presence was double what it had been before.
“I haven’t forgotten. Come pick me up a bit later,” Sang Weilian said, stepping out of the bedroom.
From a distance, he saw Lu Lin busy in the kitchen. Stepping lightly in his soft cotton slippers, he walked over.
Lu Lin stopped what he was doing and turned his head to look at the person beside him.
Sang Weilian tilted his head up, using his free hand to brush away the broken hairs on Lu Lin’s forehead to carefully inspect the swollen bump on the corner of his brow. He asked, “Did you rub it yourself last night?”
On the other end of the line, Wang Gu had just finished saying, “There’s a magazine shoot the day after tomorrow, and an interview next Tuesday,” when he heard that sentence. He froze in place. “Huh?”
Lu Lin didn’t know who was on the phone, so he remained silent and simply nodded.
Thinking back to the Alpha named Ian Klein that Wan Tianhai had mentioned on the phone the night before, Lu Lin having spent the whole night brooding felt the urge to push one step further. He leaned into Sang Weilian’s palm with a gesture that seemed natural but was actually deliberate.
He was only able to stay by Sang Weilian’s side right now because of the protection of their agreement and the fact that his pheromone scent pleased Sang Weilian; in reality, he didn’t have much of an advantage over other Alphas.
He had to reach a position where no other Alpha, Beta, or even Omega could replace him. He wanted Sang Weilian to be unable to leave him.
As their skin touched, a warmth like a light feather spread through the blood to the tip of the heart, bringing waves of restless agitation.
The Wild Rose pheromones inside Sang Weilian’s body surged restlessly, driven by an instinctive urge to break through every pore and surrender entirely to the Alpha before him.
A pheromone compatibility nearing 100% was truly no joke.
Sang Weilian didn’t hear a word of Wang Gu’s questions on the phone. Who would have thought such a tall Alpha could be so strangely cute when acting spoiled? In the moment his heartbeat faltered under the influence of instinct, he withdrew his hand and walked straight out of the kitchen.
“I understand. Send me another copy of the detailed schedule.”
Wang Gu wasn’t deterred. He persisted over the phone, asking, “Is Lu Lin living at your house? Are you two planning to cohabitate now?”
“He’s just staying here temporarily. He can cook and clean, which saves me from ordering takeout or calling a housekeeper.”
“…Fine. Just… keep things moderate in that department, and remember to use protection.” Aside from that, Wang Gu didn’t know what else to caution him about.
Sang Weilian stumbled mid-step. “Do I look like a beast to you?”
“Hard to say,” Wang Gu mused. “After all, your pheromone compatibility is so high that no one can guarantee anything.”
“I know what I’m doing. Besides, he joins a film crew next Friday and won’t be staying for many days. Once I join my own crew in March, we won’t see each other for months,” Sang Weilian said. “His staying here right now happens to relieve my pheromone disorder, which will make filming go more smoothly later.”
“Then what about your heat? Are you going to take suppressants again?”
“My heat has always been unstable; I never know when it’s coming. Even if it returns to normal, that would be more than two months from now. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
Wang Gu: “…Alright. I’m hanging up. Think about your hair color for the magazine shoot these next two days. The magazine said they want to hear your ideas. I’ll pick you up in an hour.”
“Got it.” After hanging up, Sang Weilian went into the bathroom to wash up.
Lu Lin brought the prepared breakfast to the table. Following the scent of pheromones, he found the bathroom and saw Sang Weilian wearing a soft cat-ear headband, applying a facial mask.
Although his silver curly hair was all pinned back, the ends were still quite damp.
Sang Weilian, who had always existed like an unreachable flower on a high peak, actually had such a cute side. Lu Lin’s heart throbbed incessantly. He picked up the hairdryer, stepped forward, and let his fingertips brush over the other’s silver hair ends. Finally, his finger pad lightly touched the back of the neck, barely an inch away from the gland, the skin-to-skin contact sparking a continuous tingle.
Here it was again.
Sang Weilian’s earlobes turned hot instinctively. He intended to move away, but before he could, Lu Lin had already lifted his hand, as if the touch had been entirely accidental.
His tone was obedient, and his actions showed no sign of overstepping: “Brother, let me blow-dry your hair for you.”
He even tapped the tip of the cat ear on the headband. “Did you buy this yourself, Brother?”
“I don’t know, some brand sent it.” Seeing Lu Lin’s fingers weaving through his hair in the mirror, Sang Weilian assumed he was only being sensitive because of the high pheromone compatibility. He changed the subject: “My hair is too long; I want to cut it a bit.”
Lu Lin glanced at the logo on the side and recognized it as a certain luxury brand.
Accompanied by the “hum” of the hairdryer, he asked exceptionally meekly, “What about the color? Do you want to dye it something else?”
“There’s a magazine shoot the day after tomorrow, and I have to do styling early in the morning. The magazine asked me to consider it first. What color do you think looks good?”
“Brother looks good in any hair color. Light colors match your eye color, and dark colors highlight your skin tone,” Lu Lin said truthfully.
In the mirror, Sang Weilian’s dark blue pupils appeared bluer than usual because of the bright lights. At that moment, he was looking at Lu Lin’s lowered eyes through the reflection. The gaze wasn’t particularly focused, yet it was enchanting, like the purest sapphires.
“Gold,” Lu Lin suddenly suggested.
Born with an air of nobility, he would look like a noble prince stepping out of an ancient painting, untainted by the dust of the world.
Sang Weilian blinked and peeled off the mask. “I’ll think about it.”
An hour later, Wang Gu parked the company van downstairs.
Sang Weilian was wearing a low-collar sweater without a coat.
Fearing he would be cold, Lu Lin gently wrapped a scarf around him. “The seasons are changing; it’s easy to catch a cold. Be careful to stay warm, Brother.”
Sang Weilian hadn’t intended to wear it, but seeing that the scarf Lu Lin chose matched the tone of the sweater perfectly, and seeing the man’s obedient and pleasing expression, he unknowingly went along with him.
After Lu Lin finished tying the scarf, he brushed away the stray hairs on Sang Weilian’s forehead that had been mussed by the wind.
Sang Weilian almost thought the other was going to touch him “accidentally” again, but there was no contact. Lu Lin really just helped him tidy up, then retracted his hand properly to say goodbye.
“Have a safe trip, Brother. I hope the event goes well.”
Sang Weilian gave a muffled “Mm” and turned to get into the car.
Wang Gu was already used to the “sticky” vibe between these two. Every time he saw them, he simulated the future official announcement draft eight hundred times in his head.
After all, as an Alpha, Lu Lin had not only entered the inner sanctum of Sang Weilian’s home but had also coaxed him into such compliance. Being this close to him was something Wang Gu couldn’t imagine any other Alpha achieving.
This Lu Lin was definitely capable.
Seeing Sang Weilian acting a bit strange now, Wang Gu actually felt it was a rare sight.
“What’s wrong? Did Lu Lin upset you?”
“No, I just feel like he’s acting a bit off today. He seems even more clingy than before.” Sang Weilian wasn’t one to bottle things up and spoke quite bluntly.
“Don’t you two have an agreement? Did you promise him something? He might just be trying to get on your good side.” Wang Gu tried to analyze the relationship from the perspective of an exchange of interests.
Hearing this, Sang Weilian immediately understood. “You’re right. I told him yesterday that once he picks out his next drama, I’ll help him arrange it.”
Haha—
Wang Gu couldn’t help but feel relieved.
Great. The relationship was still at the agreement stage. He still had plenty of time to write a few more versions of the future official announcement.
“Mr. Sang, these are our latest noise-canceling over-ear headphones. They haven’t been officially released yet. Please try them out, and if you feel there’s anything that can be improved, we’d appreciate your feedback.” After the event ended, staff from the Siny brand walked into Sang Weilian’s dressing room carrying several boxes.
“We’ve prepared six sets for you. Please feel free to give them to friends around you to try.”
Sang Weilian thanked them politely. “Thank you, I will put them to good use.”
Wang Gu took the boxes containing the headphones and handed over gift boxes that had been stacked in the corner.
“These are Diamond perfumes and skincare products Mr. Sang prepared for everyone. We caused some trouble for you all a while back; thank you for your trust.”
After both sides exchanged pleasantries, they returned to the car. Sang Weilian kept one pair of headphones by his side. “The other five…”
Ding-ding. Before he could finish his sentence, a new message popped up.
Sang Weilian picked up his phone and saw it was from Lu Lin.
LLin: Brother, I heard the crew of “The Prince and I” is casting. I think the role of the Emperor is okay.
Sang Weilian was stunned; he hadn’t even heard of this title.
“Wang Gu, is there a drama called The Prince and I?”
“Sounds like a web drama. Why?”
“Lu Lin said he wants to play the Emperor in it. Help me look into it.”
“Web dramas are easy to slot people into. He’s actually quite sensible, though; he knows not to ask for too much.”
Lu Lin was indeed sensible.
Sang Weilian was quite satisfied. He typed a “Good” back to Lu Lin, looked at the headphones in his hand, and kept one more. “I’ll keep two; you decide who to give the remaining four to.”
One for himself, and the other would be a reward for Lu Lin.
Wang Gu glanced at the navigation. In two more intersections, they would reach the Guangyue Entertainment building. He suggested, “We’re almost at the company. Why don’t you come with me to find the General Manager? We can leave these headphones for him and Assistant Song, as well as that mysterious behind-the-scenes CEO.”
“Sure.” Recalling how the recent rumor clarification and legal protection had been pushed through so quickly and smoothly thanks to the new boss, Sang Weilian hadn’t had to worry at all. Delivering the headphones personally was a way to show gratitude and maintain a good working relationship.
The van drove smoothly into the underground parking garage. Wang Gu turned the steering wheel into Zone F, pulling into their usual parking spot.
Suddenly, the car jolted, and the left side of the chassis sank. Wang Gu checked the dashboard; the front left tire had blown out.
“What happened?” Sang Weilian almost dropped his phone. On the screen was a message Lu Lin had just sent.
LLin: I just finished my acting class at the company. What do you want to eat tonight, Brother? I’ll go buy groceries.
Wang Gu got out to check and found a thick nail embedded in the tire, with several small thumbtacks scattered nearby. It looked quite sinister. He simply picked up the headphone boxes. “The tire is flat. Let’s go up first. I’ll call a repairman to tow the car later.”
“Mm.” Sang Weilian nodded and replied to Lu Lin’s message.
S_: Fish soup.
S_: I’m also at the company. If you didn’t drive, go to the lounge and wait for me.
LLin: I didn’t drive!
LLin: Going there now. I’ll wait for you, Brother.
