The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 12
Lu Lin returned to Sang Weilian’s house and took another shower, barely managing to suppress his rising desire. He changed into the same set of pajamas he had worn there last time and sat on the living room sofa, his back as straight as a rod.
Sang Weilian walked into the living room carrying a hard-boiled egg he had cooked and peeled. Seeing the large man sitting there like a student who had done something wrong, he couldn’t help but tease him: “Student Lu Lin, do you realize now that fighting with others is wrong?”
“Fighting even when you can’t win… and taking a hit like this.”
Lu Lin froze for a moment then immediately played along: “He started it. Teacher Sang, please don’t be angry, I won’t do it again.”
Sang Weilian laughed. “Look at you, acting all tough.”
He sat down beside Lu Lin, his fingertips picking up the tender, white boiled egg. Placing it against the swelling on Lu Lin’s temple, he began to rub it with practiced, skillful movements.
Lu Lin’s gaze was glued to Sang Weilian’s face, unable to look away. He looked from those dark blue phoenix eyes which managed to be both cold and seductive to the high, elegant bridge of his nose, and down to the pale pink, slightly pursed thin lips. Before he could think further, he let out a sharp “Hiss” of pain.
Sang Weilian’s tone became uncharacteristically stern: “Endure it.”
“Okay.” Lu Lin set aside his stray thoughts and obediently cooperated. He asked out of curiosity, “Ge, did you learn how to do this? You seem very experienced.”
“I sprained my ankle when I first started acting. I didn’t want to delay the crew’s progress, so I learned a bit of sports medicine myself.”
“That time… it must have been very hard, right?” A subtle, dense ache of sympathy rose in Lu Lin’s heart. Forget a sprained ankle if Sang Weilian so much as scraped his skin, Lu Lin would be worried to death.
Sang Weilian’s hand paused for a moment. He smiled and said, “This is actually the first time anyone has asked me that.”
“Is it not hard?” Lu Lin countered.
“If I said it was hard, I doubt anyone would believe me. I’ve been in the industry for three years, made three movies, and won four trophies two of which were for Best Actor. Anyone looking at that track record would only describe it as ‘smooth sailing.’ No one would believe I struggled; they’d just say I’m being pretentious or acting ungrateful despite my luck.” Sang Weilian’s tone was calm, even carrying a hint of self-mockery.
For the past three years, rumors that he had financial backing or had bribed the Golden Feather Award judges had never ceased. Because he was an Omega, there was no shortage of slander claiming he traded sex for awards.
“I believe you,” Lu Lin said firmly. “What others think has nothing to do with me. I only believe what you say, Ge.”
His mountain-spring scented pheromones seemed to declare his conviction, slowly drifting through the air and gradually soothing Sang Weilian’s fluctuating emotions.
Sang Weilian met his deep black eyes. Seeing that Lu Lin only had eyes for him at that moment, he slowly let down his guard.
“It was a bit hard at the beginning. Like other actors, I faced closed doors, had roles stolen from under me, and encountered people looking for ‘hidden rules’ (casting couch). But after winning the award for my first movie, things became much smoother.”
He was already luckier than many actors; his irreplaceable acting skills were his greatest source of confidence.
Lu Lin frowned. “Besides that Wu Liao guy, there were others who tried to use hidden rules on you?”
Sang Weilian applied a bit more safflower oil to him. “There, all done. I’ll rub it for you one more time before bed tonight.”
“There are plenty of people who want to pull that with me. I don’t even remember their names.”
Lu Lin silently noted this in his heart, but then caught the key point of the sentence: “Can I stay here tonight?”
“No—” Sang Weilian realized his slip of the tongue. Just as he was about to refuse, he met those sincere, pitiful dark eyes. Ultimately, he relented. “Fine. You stay in the guest room. Pack your own…”
“I’ll set up the bedding myself! I’ll handle dinner too. What do you want to eat, Ge?”
“Omurice (Omelet rice).”
“With extra ketchup?” Lu Lin knew Sang Weilian’s tastes perfectly.
Sang Weilian nodded with satisfaction.
In the evening, after Sang Weilian finished his shower, he walked to the kitchen and looked at Lu Lin, who was cleaning the stovetop.
“When do you join your film crew?”
“Hmm? Director Ma said next Friday. But since it’s just a guest role and I don’t have many scenes, it should be finished quickly.” Lu Lin wiped his hands and turned around to answer seriously.
Next Friday… that would be February 22nd.
Sang Weilian calculated the dates in his head. The production for The Blind would start around early March. Even if Lu Lin was only playing a small cameo, he would likely be there for at least half a month to accommodate the schedules of the other actors.
By the time Lu Lin finished filming, he would definitely be on set himself. The two of them probably wouldn’t see each other for a while.
“Is there anything else you want to film afterward?”
If there was a role Lu Lin wanted, Sang Weilian figured he could pave the way for him; it was the least he could do.
Lu Lin’s dark eyes dimmed slightly, showing no emotion.
Asking if he had anything else he wanted to film?
He hadn’t stayed here for the sake of acting in the first place, and he didn’t know much about the various productions currently casting. If he answered “I’ll do whatever you say,” it would seem like he had no ambition. Over time, Sang Weilian would surely suspect he had ulterior motives. One wrong move and he might be kicked out, ruining everything.
In that case—
“I haven’t decided yet. There are a few I’m interested in, but I haven’t picked the best fit.” Lu Lin put on a shy smile. “Can I tell you once I’ve made a choice?”
“Yeah, that’s fine,” Sang Weilian replied, not suspecting a thing. “I’m joining a crew in early March as well.”
“You’re going to start filming? Which production?”
Seeing his eyes light up, Sang Weilian chuckled. “What? Why so excited?”
“Of course! I’m your loyal fan.”
“True, ninety percent of actors claim to be my fans.” Sang Weilian didn’t take the words too seriously. “The Blind. It’s a period drama.”
“If you have nothing going on recently, just stay here. Once we both enter our respective crews, I won’t be looking for you for a while.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Lin was overjoyed and immediately agreed: “Okay. Just tell me in advance what you want to eat every day, and I’ll have it ready.”
As for the future… since he had already been allowed to move in, he was confident he could find a way to stay permanently.
“Go take a shower. When you’re done, bring the egg and find me.” Sang Weilian leaned in to check the bump on his forehead and urged him along.
“Right away!” Lu Lin was about to leave when he paused, looking at Sang Weilian awkwardly. “Ge, I forgot to bring a change of clothes.”
“Go to the walk-in closet and take what you need.” Sang Weilian walked past him to pour a glass of water.
“But… underwear. Is there a suitable size?” He didn’t mind wearing Sang Weilian’s clothes, of course, but Sang Weilian was slender, and there were fundamental physiological differences between an Omega and an Alpha. Sang Weilian’s underwear would definitely be too small for him.
“Pfft—cough cough cough—” Sang Weilian nearly sprayed his water.
Lu Lin rushed over to pat his back. “Sorry, sorry! You have a dryer here; I’ll just wash mine and wait—”
“There should be some beach shorts. Just make do with those.” When Sang Weilian looked up, his dark blue pupils were misty with tears from coughing. His upturned eyes were slightly red, and his expression held a trace of unmasked embarrassment. He looked both sultry and beautiful.
Lu Lin’s heart skipped a beat. His gaze deepened as he leaned forward, boldly yet gently kissing away the tear at the corner of Sang Weilian’s eye.
Sang Weilian felt his face flush. The moment he smelled the mountain-spring scent of the Alpha, he feared losing control. He turned his head to avoid the intimacy and pressed his hand against Lu Lin’s shoulder to force some distance between them. “Go buy some yourself tomorrow, or call a delivery service. Hurry up, I want to sleep soon.”
“Okay, I’m going.” Lu Lin suppressed his agitation, pulled himself away from the wild rose scent the other was releasing, and walked quickly toward the closet.
Left alone, Sang Weilian let out a long breath and gradually calmed down. Sensing the lingering scent of mountain springs in the air, he took a large gulp of water and fled back to his bedroom.
After his shower, Lu Lin carried the boiled egg to Sang Weilian’s door. Seeing that the door had been left ajar for him, he pushed it open and walked in.
On the bed, Sang Weilian was leaning against a pillow, fast asleep. A thick script had already slipped onto the floor.
Lu Lin walked over quietly, picked up the script to confirm the title on the cover, organized it neatly, and placed it on the nightstand. He then turned back, gently lifted Sang Weilian into the blankets, and tucked him in.
Perhaps Sang Weilian was dreaming; he smacked his lips twice and rolled onto his side, curling up like a silkworm in its cocoon not looking at all like his usual sharp and commanding self.
Lu Lin’s heart melted. He leaned down and stole a soft kiss on the other man’s lips.
Back in the guest room, Lu Lin looked at the peeled egg in the bowl. Remembering Sang Weilian’s instructions, he dutifully picked it up to rub the swelling on his temple while dialing Wan Tianhai’s number.
“Compile a list of movies, TV dramas, and web series that are currently casting and will be filming between March and June. Send it to me,” Lu Lin commanded.
“Understood,” Wan Tianhai replied. “Boss, I have the results of the investigation regarding Fang Wenbin.”
Lu Lin’s hand paused. He lowered the egg. “Speak.”
“Fang Wenbin and Mr. Sang were signed to the acting department of Guangyue Entertainment during the same period. At that time, there was a well-funded drama looking for a third lead. Mr. Sang missed the audition due to illness, and Fang Wenbin went first. His acting was the best among the competitors, so he was chosen.”
“However, the day before signing the contract, one of the investors changed their mind, feeling Fang Wenbin’s image didn’t fit. They reopened the search. Mr. Sang had recovered by then, so Wu Liao arranged for both of them to go. The investor ended up choosing Mr. Sang.”
“His acting and image were both superior, so he was chosen on the spot. But later, even though Mr. Sang signed the contract, he never went to the set. He paid the liquidated damages and withdrew from the production entirely.”
“He isn’t that kind of person. What happened in between?” Lu Lin knew better than anyone that acting was Sang Weilian’s passion.
“After the contract was signed, that investor used various production issues as an excuse to have Wu Liao take Mr. Sang out for dinner several times. At first, it was indeed about the script, but later it turned into hints for ‘hidden rules.'”
Lu Lin’s expression instantly darkened, his hawk-like eyes flashing with a ruthless light. The egg in his left hand was crushed, leaving fragments scattered across the table.
“Because of the withdrawal, Mr. Sang was blacklisted. Fang Wenbin believed Mr. Sang deliberately targeted him by stealing the role and then abandoning it. Since then, he has been at odds with Mr. Sang at every turn.”
“During Wu Liao’s tenure, he and Fang Wenbin maintained a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship. Most of Fang Wenbin’s resources were orchestrated by Wu Liao. Fang Wenbin even had his ‘mark’ (temporary bond) washed away twice for him. Now that Wu Liao is under investigation, the two have cut ties.”
“Boss, Fang Wenbin has been trying to meet with you. He likely wants to cling to you as a new benefactor since his resources are drying up without support.”
Lu Lin said coldly, “Find the documents regarding Fang Wenbin washing his marks and mail them to his house. Warn him to behave. Also, send me the information on that investor.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Also, you said Sang Weilian was blacklisted. How was he able to start filming again later?”
“Someone helped him an Alpha named Ying Kelai. However… I haven’t been able to find any information on him. It is my incompetence,” Wan Tianhai apologized fearfully.
An Alpha?
Quite an Alpha indeed.
