- The Heroic Master Is Tough-Talking but Soft-Hearted: The Aloof Major General Has Fallen
- Chapter 7 - Didn’t the Male Sovereign Hate Asher the Most?
“Sit on it yourself.”
As Cen Li recited this line, the “little person” in his heart couldn’t help but pound its head in frustration. This was simply too much.
The Major General, however, seemed incapable of refusing any of Cen Li’s requests. He propped his hands up, his spine curving slightly. Under the bright lights, the hollow of his spine and the contours of the muscles on either side were perfectly defined.
Asher was like a silent statue, numbly executing every command issued by Cen Li. This made Cen Li feel inexplicably uncomfortable, and he knitted his brows in irritation.
Just as everything was about to reach a conclusion, Cen Li suddenly raised his hand and shoved the female insect away. Asher had not expected the male to lash out so abruptly. By the time he reacted, he was already kneeling on the ground.
“Please punish me, Male Sovereign.”
It seemed the female only knew how to say this one sentence. Before Cen Li could speak, 007 suddenly started screaming in his mind.
“Host, what are you doing? This isn’t in the original plot! The original soul would never have pushed Asher away!”
Tonight, the Humiliation Value had risen by an unusual 20 points. The system did not understand why the host had suddenly changed his mind. If he had fully completed the original plot, he surely could have harvested a massive wave of Humiliation Value.
What on earth was the host doing?
Cen Li replied, “I don’t want to use force.”
The system was baffled. “Host, just endure it and it will be over.”
Cen Li’s face was dark, and he grew even more annoyed. “Why should I have to endure it? The original soul isn’t worthy of Asher at all. Isn’t this just sticking a beautiful flower into a pile of cow dung?”
Cen Li expected 007 to continue its persuasion, but after waiting for a long while, he heard nothing from his system. Instead, another cold, mechanical voice rang out.
Warning! Warning!
Detected host’s inclination to evade the mission. Since there is already one record on file, the severity of the punishment will now be increased.
Cen Li’s eyes widened instantly. His lips moved, and he was about to let out a string of colorful words when the punishment began.
The kneeling Asher waited for a long time, but no further instructions came from the male. Instead, he heard a voice from above suppressed by agony. Asher could not help but look up, only to find the male curled up on the bed with a face full of pain, his brows tightly furrowed as if enduring immense suffering.
Asher suddenly remembered that the Male Sovereign had shown similar pain last time, though it seemed much more severe now. Asher could not help but call out softly, “Male Sovereign?”
Cen Li’s consciousness was already blurred; he could not hear the female’s voice at all. Having never suffered much since childhood, he had been subjected to agonizing punishments repeatedly since arriving in the Zerg world. The only thought remaining in his mind was to leave this godforsaken place.
Male Zergs were already rare in the Empire, and high-grade ones were even scarcer. Therefore, when an A-rank male was rushed to the hospital, the lobby fell into a state of total chaos.
“Dammit! Someone actually dared to harm a noble Male Excellency!”
“What were his female attendants doing?”
“Look, this poor Excellency is still unconscious.”
“It must have been the female soldier! While the male was providing mental comfort, he must have been injured by the soldier’s unrestrained mental power!”
Female soldiers were powerful, and being on the battlefield for long periods kept them in a constant state of combat readiness. Their mental power was highly unstable and easily triggered Mental Riots. Conversely, the gentle mental power of a male could soothe a restless female soldier. This made males even more precious.
However, arrogant and conceited males were usually stingy with their pheromones. Often, a groveling session of whipping was the only way to potentially earn a few scraps of pheromones from a male.
Anyone who saw the unconscious Cen Li for the first time would instinctively assume he had been harmed by the female he was with. They maliciously speculated about the unseen soldier, subconsciously ignoring Cen Li’s disfigured and disabled appearance. After all, gossiping about a male’s flaws was a great sign of disrespect.
Cen Li woke up amidst a floating sensation. What met his eyes was a white room filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant.
It seems I have been hospitalized, Cen Li thought. Not long ago, Admiral Derek had urged him to visit the hospital; he had not expected to be forced here under these circumstances.
“Male Sovereign, you are awake.”
A weak voice sounded in the room. Cen Li looked over to see Sia.
Perhaps the shadow Cen Li had cast over Sia last time had not dissipated yet; the sub-female looked hesitant. However, he eventually shuffled over slowly.
“Male Sovereign, you have been unconscious for a whole day.”
Cen Li’s brow furrowed. He had been out for that long? It seemed the system had not held back at all.
007, knowing Cen Li’s inner thoughts, offered a weak defense. “Host, this has nothing to do with me. It was all determined by the Mainframe.”
Cen Li would not hear it. “You are all in this together.”
The system fell silent. Watching Cen Li suppress his rage with nowhere to vent it, it could not think of a single rebuttal.
Cen Li’s gloomy expression made Sia tremble with fear. He did not want to stay alone with the unpredictable male any longer; the oppressive, silent atmosphere made his legs go weak. Sia stepped out, stopped Admiral Derek, who had not gone far, and informed him that the Male Sovereign had awakened.
When Cen Li regained his senses, he saw Sia walking in, followed by Admiral Derek.
The Admiral looked at him with a face full of surprise. “Xiao Li, you are awake! How are you feeling?”
The Admiral’s expression was one of genuine concern. Cen Li could clearly feel the sincere fatherly affection the original soul’s father had for him. Cen Li shook his head, indicating that nothing was seriously wrong.
Admiral Derek’s expression relaxed, but then his face darkened with displeasure as he asked, “What exactly happened? Why did you suddenly faint? Does it have something to do with Asher?”
Confusion flashed in Cen Li’s eyes. He did not understand how this had been pinned on Asher.
Initially, everyone assumed the male had been injured by a sudden burst of mental power while comforting a female. However, to their surprise, no traces of mental power damage were detected on Cen Li. They could only conclude that the male had undergone a very painful ordeal.
As far as Admiral Derek knew, only Cen Li and Asher were in the room at the time. It was only natural for him to suspect Asher had done something to Cen Li.
Listening to the increasingly absurd speculations, Cen Li could not help but speak up to stop them.
“It has nothing to do with him.”
Admiral Derek looked skeptical. “Then why would you?”
The Admiral’s suspicions were not dispelled. Instead, he wondered why Cen Li was shielding Asher. Did he not hate Asher the most?
Cen Li did not plan to continue this conversation. Even the hospital could not figure out what had hurt him. Cen Li knew the truth, but he could not explain it.
Soon, he realized he had not seen Asher at all.
Cen Li frowned and asked, “Where is Asher?”
