The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 52
Jun Jue and Ruan Wei only found out the next day how Jiang Tang had sent Tao Xinran and Sun Qian home.
“I’m starting to wonder if Sister Jiang Tang really likes Sister Tao,” Ruan Wei said worriedly, resting her chin on her hand.
“Romance is something that depends on them,” Jun Jue said, taking Ruan Wei’s hand. “Let nature take its course.”
Ruan Wei nodded, love was indeed something only two people could figure out for themselves.
“Sister, now let’s talk about us!”
Jun Jue gazed at Ruan Wei tenderly, waiting for her to continue.
“Sister, when are we getting married?” Ruan Wei blinked, her face full of anticipation.
Jun Jue was momentarily stunned. They had just gotten engaged yesterday, she thought they should take their time to pick the perfect date.
“I want to get married soon,” Ruan Wei said, shaking her hand. “How about tomorrow?”
Jun Jue couldn’t help but chuckle, her eyes and brows brimming with amusement.
“Sister, why are you laughing?”
“Weiwei, do you know how much preparation goes into a wedding?”
Ruan Wei shook her head. To her, it was incredibly simple. “Isn’t it just inviting close friends and family and picking out wedding outfits?”
Jun Jue smiled faintly. “The wedding of a Chief Executive has strict requirements for scale and ceremony. It takes time to prepare.”
“Ah,”
“Can’t we speed it up?” Ruan Wei’s voice grew softer, her eyes pleading pitifully.
Jun Jue’s heart melted.
“We can. Weiwei, I won’t make you wait too long.”
…
After another week of normal work life, Jun Jue personally took Ruan Wei over the weekend to see the beautiful wedding dress she had been dreaming of. She also invited Ruan Wei’s two vampire sisters for reference and to pick bridesmaid dresses, bringing along the Jiang sisters: Jiang Lan, Jiang Tang, and Jiang Li as well. It was time to give them a little push to resolve their own romantic situations.
Jiang Lan understood love but was naturally indifferent, having seen through it, she believed romance required fate and couldn’t be forced. Jiang Tang had someone in mind but didn’t know how to express it. Jiang Li desperately wanted to fall in love but, unfortunately, had no one to fall in love with.
The largest bridal shop in the Federation wasn’t new to hosting distinguished guests of the Chief Executive’s caliber. Still, when Jun Jue arrived with Ruan Wei and the others, the shop owner felt the entire store was honored beyond measure.
“Chief Executive, Madam Weiwei, this way, please,” the owner personally guided them.
Bridesmaid dresses and wedding gowns were in separate sections. Tao Xinran, Sun Qian, and Jiang Sister’s group were led to another area.
As they walked down the corridor, Ruan Wei’s eyes darted between the wedding dresses displayed in the showcases, overwhelmed by the dazzling array.
“Are we the only ones in the shop today?”
The owner explained that their shop operated by appointment only. That day had been entirely reserved for the Chief Executive, both for her safety and as a gesture of respect.
Ruan Wei understood, this was the exclusive, top-tier VIP treatment reserved for the Chief Executive.
After a few minutes of walking, the owner stopped them in front of a spacious, standalone glass room.
“Inside are all the wedding gowns and suits that meet the standards of the Chief Executive’s wedding, including traditional phoenix coronets and embroidered robes. Please take your time selecting, Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei.”
“Thank you!” Ruan Wei chirped before eagerly rushing inside.
Jun Jue shook her head helplessly but fondly, then followed her into the glass room after nodding to the owner.
The shop owner, her wrinkled face unable to suppress a smile, watched them go.
In the era of the New Stellar Calendar, the average human lifespan had reached 300 years. The tenure of each Chief Executive was set at 100 years, with the possibility of reelection for those beloveds by the Federation’s citizens. However, recent Chiefs had all met untimely deaths.
The shop owner, now over 200 years old and in the twilight of life, had witnessed several Chief Executives and their spouses visiting the shop to select wedding dresses.
But none had been as joyful as the new Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei.
Ruan Wei happily tried on over a dozen high-end wedding dresses in the glass room, asking Jun Jue which ones looked best.
Jun Jue said they all looked beautiful. “But if I had to choose, these three are exceptional.”
“The Chief Executive has excellent taste,” the shop owner said with a smile. “These three styles suit Madam Weiwei perfectly in both design and silhouette.”
Ruan Wei’s gaze lingered over the three dresses.
Jun Jue also recalled how Ruan Wei had looked in each. The first had a boat neckline and a high waist, its clean lines accentuating Ruan Wei’s slender figure, while the voluminous skirt, crafted from smooth white satin, had drawn Ruan Wei’s praise for its beauty and comfort.
The second featured an extravagant train and a delicate, ethereal veil. The bodice resembled an elegant evening gown, with a square neckline layered over a V-cut and wide straps, blending sophistication with a playful allure.
The first two were white wedding gowns, while the third was a traditional red bridal dress, the one Ruan Wei was currently wearing. The vibrant red complemented her porcelain-like skin, making her look like a beauty from an ancient painting.
Jun Jue found herself momentarily entranced.
“This phoenix coronet and embroidered cape set also includes golden hairpins and a red bridal veil embroidered with mandarin ducks in gold thread. It’s quite intricate, would Madam Weiwei like to try it on?” the shop owner asked with a smile.
Ruan Wei licked her lips, tempted, but restrained herself. She could roughly imagine what the golden hairpins looked like, but what was this “mandarin duck veil”?
She asked, puzzled.
The shop owner explained, “The red mandarin duck veil is part of the phoenix coronet set, symbolizing marital harmony and a blessed union.”
Ruan Wei then inquired how the veil was used, learning that she would wear it over her head, waiting for Jun Jue to lift it with a jade ceremonial scepter.
After understanding, Ruan Wei said firmly, “Then I won’t try it now.”
“Have the Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei decided which set to choose?” the shop owner asked.
Jun Jue looked at Ruan Wei, who seemed torn.
Turning to the shop owner, Jun Jue said, “We’ll take all three. Please prepare them, we’ll need them in half a month.”
Half a month!
The elderly shop owner couldn’t hide her surprise but quickly composed herself.
She then asked, “Chief Executive, would you like to try on the matching groom’s attire?”
“No need,” Jun Jue replied. She didn’t care about such details, as long as it matched Ruan Wei, what mattered was the person she was marrying.
Removing the phoenix coronet set proved troublesome, so Jun Jue entered the fitting room to help Ruan Wei out of it.
Ruan Wei, flustered in her haste, fumbled with the intricate garments. Jun Jue gently held her hands. “Weiwei, take your time.”
Ruan Wei’s collarbone had reddened from brushing against the dress’s embellishments. Swallowing hard, Jun Jue carefully helped her out of the elaborate bridal attire and back into her original clothes.
When they stepped out of the fitting room, Jiang Lan and the others had already chosen their bridesmaid dresses.
Jun Jue personally selected a white suit for Uncle Zhang as well.
Once everything was settled, Jun Jue used her neural interface to instruct her subordinates to announce to the Federation’s citizens that she and Ruan Wei would marry in half a month.
Her subordinate replied, “Chief Executive, I’ll issue the announcement immediately though it seems everyone already knows.”
After ending the call, Jun Jue opened the webpage on her light brain panel herself. Without even needing to search, the rumors about her and Ruan Wei’s impending marriage topped the trending list, dominating the entire front page.
Clicking in, she saw that they had been photographed by a passing Federation citizen during their group visit to the bridal shop.
“Chief Executive, ever since you proposed to Madam Weiwei last week, Federation citizens have been speculating about when you two would get married,” said Jiang Li, the most gossip-savvy of the three Jiang sisters.
Jiang Tang, also checking her light brain, shared the latest updates. “The citizens are saying that if the Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei are in such a hurry to marry, could it be that they’re… expecting?”
“Expecting what?” Jiang Tang asked, puzzled, but received no reply.
The only ones equally confused were Ruan Wei. She leaned closer to Jun Jue and whispered, “Sister, what are we expecting? I didn’t know about this.”
Jun Jue’s cheeks flushed as she gently pressed her thumb against Ruan Wei’s lips.
Ruan Wei thought it must be some private secret Jun Jue was too shy to share. She decided to wait until they got home to ask.
…
After everyone had dinner together and returned home, Ruan Wei still hadn’t forgotten the question.
Jun Jue sat at her desk, browsing online to see just how bold the Federation citizens’ speculations were.
Suddenly, Ruan Wei slipped under her arm and nestled into her lap.
“Want some blood?” Jun Jue tugged her collar down slightly.
Ruan Wei looked up at her and shook her head.
“Sister, you still haven’t told me what ‘expecting’ means,” Ruan Wei said, her eyes clear and tone innocent.
Jun Jue felt her throat tighten instantly, her thoughts turning decidedly less than pure.
Before she knew it, Ruan Wei found herself being carried to the bed in a daze. “Sister, didn’t you say we’d stay up late tonight?”
Her words were cut off as Jun Jue sealed her lips, leaving her mind blank.
She felt like a stretch of desert, battered by fierce waves one moment and caressed by gentle tides the next. Her eyelids fluttered shut.
Her mind flashed with bursts of white light and storms.
As the tempest gradually subsided, Ruan Wei felt drenched, as if soaked by the sea. “Sister, you still haven’t told me…”
Her pale skin now glowed pink in the aftermath.
Jun Jue’s lips moved to Ruan Wei’s ear, her breathing heavy.
“Weiwei, do you like children?” she asked again.
“I do. You’ve asked me twice before, don’t you remember?”
“I remember.”
“Then why-”
Ruan Wei’s words dissolved into silence as the soft spot on the back of her neck was pierced, and a potent sandalwood scent flooded her senses. Her voice no longer obeyed her, her body curling instinctively. Yet Jun Jue seemed especially insatiable today, leaving her to endure this storm of tenderness and ferocity.
Finally, Jun Jue pressed her palm against Ruan Wei’s abdomen and whispered in her ear with utmost tenderness.
“Weiwei, ‘expecting’ means there might be a little life growing inside you, a little life that belongs to both of us.”
Ruan Wei paused, then shyly asked, “Am I going to be a mom? Isn’t it… too soon?”
“If it feels too soon, we can wait,” Jun Jue assured her. As long as they were careful, avoiding the release of pheromones during their moments of passion they could prevent pregnancy.
…
The night before the wedding, Jun Jue brought Ruan Wei to Tao Xinran and Sun Qian’s house. She would return the next morning to fetch her bride.
For the first time in her life, Ruan Wei found herself unable to sleep on the eve of her wedding, no less. Fortunately, she rarely stayed up late, so one sleepless night wouldn’t affect her complexion much.
She changed into her first wedding dress, and with Tao Xinran’s help, had a beautiful bridal makeup applied. Then, she waited on the balcony.
When Jun Jue appeared downstairs in a white suit, Ruan Wei suddenly changed her mind. She didn’t want to walk down the stairs, on a whim, she spread her wings and flew down instead. As she descended, there was a loud rip behind her, her wings had torn the wedding dress.
Ruan Wei landed in front of Jun Jue facing backward, too embarrassed to turn around or even lift her head.
On such an important day, she had ruined things just because she wanted to fly.
Jun Jue reached out and gently stroked Ruan Wei’s two pairs of wings, shimmering beautifully in the sunlight, then soothingly kissed her cheek.
Ruan Wei instantly broke down.
“Sister, what do I do? I ruined the wedding dress!”
“It’s okay. Trust me.”
As she spoke, Jun Jue tugged at the silver fox mecha necklace around her neck and pulled out a green military knife, the same one she had used to cut a cloak for Ruan Wei when they first met on Planet G30.
Ruan Wei naturally recognized the knife. Back on G30, Jun Jue had been full of suspicion toward her, cold and distant, yet hiding a hint of gentleness.
Now, they are getting married. How incredible!
Jun Jue walked behind Ruan Wei and began cutting and adjusting the dress.
A few minutes later, the torn part of the wedding dress was completely unnoticeable.
“All done.” Jun Jue stored the knife and fabric scraps back into the mecha compartment.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Ruan Wei hugged her tightly, standing on her tiptoes to reach Jun Jue’s shoulders and asking for a kiss.
In front of everyone, Jun Jue didn’t hold back, today was her and Weiwei’s wedding, so she indulged her just this once.
The guests, the wedding procession, and even the Federation citizens watching the livestream couldn’t help but scream or even cry at the sight.
#AHHH I BELIEVE IN LOVE AGAIN#
#This must be what love looks like at its best, Madam Weiwei being playful, the Chief Executive smiling, and even a torn wedding dress doesn’t matter. Who wouldn’t want to marry a Chief Executive like this?#
#The happiest Chief Executive couple in Federation history, any objections?#
#The kiss of the century, thank you, Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei, for showing us how sweet love can be#
…
The livestream was flooded with comments from Federation citizens, and even after the kiss ended, the messages kept pouring in.
“Sister Tao, what are you all looking at?” Ruan Wei lifted her skirt and ran over to Tao Xinran’s side to peek at the glowing screen. Seeing the flood of well-wishes, she smiled and waved at the camera. “Thank you, everyone! I hope you all find the right person too.”
As Ruan Wei spoke, Jun Jue took a tube of lipstick from Sun Qian and reapplied it for her. Ruan Wei obediently puckered her lips.
Jiang Tang, who had been observing with a studious mindset, was puzzled: How do the Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei make being this naturally sweet look so effortless?
