The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 51
After a few more rounds of games, the chef finished preparing dinner, and Uncle Zhang came to notify everyone that it was time to eat.
Jun Jue led Ruan Wei into the kitchen to wash their hands. Everyone naturally paired up in twos. Jiang Lan glanced at the group and stayed behind alone, letting her younger sister Jiang Li accompany Sun Qian while her other sister Jiang Tang went with Tao Xinran.
Jun Jue asked Uncle Zhang to open two bottles of low-alcohol red wine. It was Ruan Wei’s first time drinking, and after two glasses, she was already a little tipsy, leaning heavily against Jun Jue’s shoulder.
If not for the fact that Tao Xinran and Sun Qian showed no unusual reactions, Jun Jue might have thought vampires couldn’t drink alcohol.
“Tastes good… want more…” Ruan Wei swayed as she raised her empty glass.
Jun Jue pressed her hand down. “Weiwei, you’re drunk.”
“What’s… hic…” Ruan Wei let out a drunken hiccup before asking, “What’s drunk?”
“It’s exactly how you are right now,” Jun Jue replied helplessly, shaking her head. “Can you still eat?”
“Ah,” Ruan Wei naturally opened her mouth while leaning on Jun Jue’s shoulder. Jun Jue immediately picked up some food for her. Unable to move her shoulder much for fear of Ruan Wei slipping, she grabbed the nearest dish and fed it to her.
At first, everyone at the table watched Ruan Wei with concern, but gradually, the meaning behind their gazes shifted.
“Everyone, go ahead and eat. I’ll take care of Weiwei,” Jun Jue said, glancing up as she noticed their looks. The others quickly averted their eyes, though some couldn’t resist sneaking glances.
Just as she finished speaking, Ruan Wei mumbled, “Not as good as lunch… don’t wanna eat anymore.”
She licked her lips and dozed off.
Jun Jue set down her chopsticks, steadied Ruan Wei’s shoulder with one hand, and then stood up from her seat at the head of the table, scooping Ruan Wei up into a bridal carry.
“Apologies, everyone. Please continue. I’ll take Weiwei upstairs to rest.”
After bidding farewell to the guests, Jun Jue carried Ruan Wei upstairs.
Once Jun Jue and Ruan Wei had left, the remaining people at the table exchanged brief glances before silently lowering their heads and speeding up their meal.
The last time they had dined here, Jun Jue was still a general, and the Jiang sisters had been too nervous to relax. Now, it was Tao Xinran and Sun Qian who seemed tense.
Perhaps because the atmosphere was more relaxed today, Jiang Tang found the dinner especially delicious.
Noticing Tao Xinran’s restraint, only picking at the two dishes in front of her, Jiang Tang stood up and served her a small portion of the dishes farther away, placing them by her hand.
“These dishes are also quite good. Give them a try, Miss Tao.”
“Thank you,” Tao Xinran murmured without daring to look at Jiang Tang.
When she reached for her bowl, her hand accidentally brushed against Jiang Tang’s. Both froze for a second before pulling away simultaneously, pretending nothing had happened.
The others at the table saw it all clearly.
A long while later, Jun Jue finally returned downstairs, her neck now adorned with several fresh marks. This time, Jiang Tang didn’t ask about them, she already knew what they were and how they got there. She instinctively glanced at Tao Xinran, wondering if Tao Xinran, too, would leave such marks on a partner someday, just like how Madam Wei had marked the Chief Executive’s neck.
As Jun Jue descended the stairs, she tugged at her collar somewhat awkwardly, as if trying to hide the traces of intimacy, but it was futile. Everyone had already seen them, they just tactfully refrained from making a fuss.
“Chief Executive,” everyone stood up in unison.
Jun Jue apologized once more, feeling it was truly discourteous to leave guests waiting downstairs for so long.
The group shook their heads in unison. Madame Weiwei was drunk, and such a situation was completely understandable.
Jiang Lan said, “Chief Executive, we’ve all finished eating and are ready to head home. You and Madame Wei should rest well. We won’t disturb you any further.”
Jun Jue escorted them to the villa’s entrance, watching as they departed.
Jiang Lan and Jiang Li were the first to board the flying car. Jiang Tang was about to get in as well, but Jiang Li shook her head at her, and Jiang Lan drove off without waiting for her to board.
Left standing there in confusion, Jiang Tang wondered how was she supposed to get back if they wouldn’t let her in the car?
Tao Xinran and Sun Qian, standing beside Jiang Tang, felt slightly awkward.
The two vampires had originally planned to spread their wings and fly back. The residences arranged for them by the Chief Executive and Madame Wei weren’t far from the Jun family villa.
Jun Jue shook her head at Jiang Tang, who stood frozen in place, and stepped forward, saying, “You two drank tonight. Let Jiang Tang see you home.”
Jiang Tang quickly added, “But Chief Executive, I drank too, not much, but I did have some. And I didn’t bring my own flying car today; I came with my eldest sister.”
Still, she estimated the amount she’d consumed was minimal, and the alcohol content low enough that driving wouldn’t violate traffic laws.
Playing matchmaker proved harder than expected, and Jun Jue felt somewhat powerless.
“I’ll arrange for someone else to take you home.”
“No need, Chief Executive. I’ll escort Miss Tao and Miss Sun,” Jiang Tang said, then paused, realizing those were the Chief Executive’s exact instructions moments ago.
“Good.” Before Jiang Tang could say anything else, Jun Jue tossed her the car keys, which Jiang Tang caught deftly in her open palm.
Jun Jue turned and walked back inside. What happened next was entirely up to Jiang Tang’s own luck.
Jiang Tang walked over to Jun Jue’s private flying car, opened the rear door, and invited the two ladies inside. Sun Qian entered first, while Tao Xinran hesitated briefly before also taking a seat in the back.
Completely oblivious to any awkwardness, Jiang Tang turned her head before setting off and asked, “Where exactly are your homes located?”
