The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 50
Jun Jue’s light-colored eyes flickered with emotion, rendered speechless for a long moment by Ruan Wei’s boldness.
Seeing the stunned expressions on Jun Jue’s face and the faces of the other guests, Ruan Wei pursed her lips and asked hesitantly, “Did I say something wrong?”
“No,” Tian Tian replied, lifting her wedding dress as she walked over to Ruan Wei. She leaned in and whispered, “Weiwei, usually people wait for the other person to propose before saying ‘yes.'”
“Why?”
“Maybe it makes you seem more reserved?”
“Why should I be reserved?”
“Because…” Tian Tian was stumped.
Tian Tian’s partner, holding the train of her wedding dress, stepped in to smooth things over. “Love has no fixed rules. Madam Weiwei is very brave.”
Ruan Wei felt a little smug at the praise and quickly turned to look at Jun Jue.
Jun Jue’s neck and ears flushed red, her face tinged with a faint pink. She walked up to Ruan Wei, knelt on one knee, and pulled out a delicate blue box from the pocket of her deep blue tailored suit. With her fair, slender fingers, she opened the box and gazed up at Ruan Wei.
Sincerely, she asked, “Weiwei, will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
“I will!”
“Of course I will!”
Ruan Wei’s voice was brimming with joy, and no one present could resist being swept up in her happiness.
“Weiwei, give me your hand.”
“Oh.” Ruan Wei eagerly extended her right hand.
“It’s the left hand, Weiwei,” Tian Tian quietly reminded her from the side.
Ruan Wei quickly withdrew her right hand and offered her left instead. Jun Jue held it steadily, carefully sliding the engagement ring onto Ruan Wei’s left middle finger. She kissed it gently before standing up.
Overjoyed, Ruan Wei lifted her left hand to examine the ring closely. It was a perfectly sized silver band, adorned with a pure and beautiful blue sapphire that resembled the color of the red spider lily.
Jun Jue turned to the newlyweds and said, “I’m sorry.” She had originally planned to propose to Ruan Wei after the wedding, but plans had changed.
“It’s no problem,” the newlyweds replied with smiles, offering their heartfelt blessings to her and Ruan Wei.
Jun Jue felt a weight lift from her heart and naturally took Ruan Wei’s hand, giving it a playful squeeze.
Ruan Wei blinked her big, bright eyes at her, filled with pure delight, and Jun Jue’s heartstrings trembled.
After a brief pause, Jun Jue reminded her, “Weiwei, the gift.”
Ruan Wei suddenly remembered the necklace they had bought at the mall the night before and quickly retrieved it, handing it to Tian Tian.
“Wishing you a happy marriage and everlasting joy!”
…
In the interstellar era, the Federation had strictly banned outdated wedding customs like rowdy receptions and intrusive wedding night pranks.
Tian Tian’s wedding was filled with serene and joyful moments. Jun Jue noticed that Ruan Wei’s favorite parts of the ceremony were the bouquet toss and the banquet.
“There’s so much delicious food today!”
On the way back, Ruan Wei hugged a large box of wedding candies, sighing in delight.
“If you liked any of the dishes, you can ask the chef at home to make them,” Jun Jue replied as she drove.
“But I don’t know what they’re called.”
“I remember.”
“Really?”
“Mhm.”
Jun Jue had noticed Ruan Wei’s enthusiasm for the food and had specifically asked Tian Tian’s partner for a copy of the menu. She had also kept track of which dishes Ruan Wei had enjoyed the most.
“Then you tell the chef when we get back. I want to eat them again tonight!”
“Alright.”
As soon as Jun Jue finished speaking, Ruan Wei began humming cheerfully beside her.
It seemed those dishes had truly captured Ruan Wei’s heart or rather, her stomach.
Feeling a sudden impulse, Jun Jue asked, “How do they compare to my blood?”
Ruan Wei didn’t hesitate in the slightest. “Of course, sister’s blood is the best to drink!”
“I might get tired of other foods, but I could drink sister’s blood forever.”
Jun Jue silently curved her lips into a smile.
…
At the Jun family villa, after Uncle Zhang, the Jiang sisters, Tao Xinran, and Sun Qian had helped decorate and gone through the procedures several times, they suddenly found themselves at a loss.
“What’s going on? The Chief Executive has already proposed at someone else’s wedding?” Jiang Tang, who had slipped away to the restroom and glanced at her light screen, discovered the big news.
“How could that be?” Jiang Lan frowned slightly. “Could it be a mistake?”
Then, the group huddled together to look at Jiang Tang’s light screen.
“So, it was Madam Weiwei…” Jiang Li said.
“That does sound like Weiwei’s style,” Tao Xinran remarked, casually tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her face filled with the gentle smile of an elder sister.
Jiang Tang, who had been spacing out while staring at Tao Xinran, blushed and quickly averted her gaze before Tao Xinran could notice.
“So… what do we do now?” Jiang Tang asked, her heart racing and her words slightly stuttering.
“I’ll send a message to ask the Chief Executive,” Jiang Lan said, immediately acting on it.
Just as the message was sent, footsteps approached, two people.
“Is that the Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei back? What should we do now?”
None of them were particularly experienced in matters of the heart and had no idea how to handle the current complicated situation.
Thus, when Jun Jue walked in holding Ruan Wei’s hand, she was met with a group of petrified individuals.
“Huh? Are you all playing a game?” Ruan Wei asked curiously.
“Even Uncle Zhang is playing with everyone. Is it ‘Red Light, Green Light’?”
“But why is everyone lined up like this? Who’s the one calling out ‘Red Light, Green Light’?”
Ruan Wei fired off a series of questions, and everyone looked to Jun Jue for help, unsure whether to just go along with Ruan Wei’s assumption and pretend to continue the game.
Jun Jue raised her hand slightly, signaling that they could move freely. Poor Uncle Zhang, his old bones creaking as he finally got to move.
“Uncle Zhang, are you okay?” Ruan Wei immediately asked with concern.
“I’m fine, just an old person problem,” Uncle Zhang waved it off, twisting his body slightly. Ruan Wei kept her eyes on the elderly man until she was sure he was alright.
“Weiwei,” Jun Jue turned Ruan Wei to face her and patiently explained the original proposal plan.
“Ah!” Ruan Wei covered her lips in slight embarrassment. “Was I really too forward?”
“It’s my fault for being late. I should have acted sooner,” Jun Jue took the blame upon herself.
“So that’s how it was?” Ruan Wei asked softly.
Jun Jue nodded affectionately, then turned to Uncle Zhang and listed a series of dishes Ruan Wei liked for the banquet. Uncle Zhang went to inform the chef.
Jun Jue then addressed the others, “Thank you all for your hard work today. Please stay for dinner.”
Everyone sat together in the living room, and somehow, they actually started playing “Red Light, Green Light” with Ruan Wei.
Jun Jue initially refused to play but was eventually pushed into joining by Ruan Wei.
In this game, Jiang Tang and Ruan Wei were the most enthusiastic.
Jun Jue adopted a conservative strategy, taking small steps forward, while Ruan Wei and Jiang Tang darted ahead quickly, as if competing with each other.
Jun Jue shook her head. This round, Jiang Lan was the one calling out “Red Light, Green Light” at the front. Jun Jue stopped shaking her head just before Jiang Lan turned around, while Ruan Wei and Jiang Tang each leaped past the tile line behind Jiang Lan, earning themselves an extra life.
Ruan Wei’s face lit up with a hint of smugness as she glanced over, earning an approving look from Jun Jue.
Jiang Tang suddenly remarked, “Chief Executive, why are you so slow? This isn’t like your usual style.”
“What is my usual style?”
“Well…” Jiang Tang realized she couldn’t quite put it into words. Jiang Li quickly tugged at her second sister’s sleeve, and Jiang Tang promptly shut her mouth.
The game continued.
Ruan Wei returned to the starting point, hopping straight to Jun Jue’s side in one leap, then began inching forward with small, deliberate steps.
“This is quite fun too,” Ruan Wei murmured in a voice only she and Jun Jue could hear, not even minding when Jiang Tang overtook her.
Jiang Tang was utterly baffled. With her formidable opponent no longer pressing her, she started slacking off. And as she slacked, Tao Xinran, who had been steadily advancing finally caught up to her.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jiang Tang caught sight of Tao Xinran’s white shoes. She didn’t dare turn her head, but the rapid reddening of her ears betrayed her.
“Second Sister, I saw you move,” Jiang Lan called out, her hand nearly exhausted from writing. She had finally caught someone in the act.
Jiang Lan shook out her wrist, ready to resume writing. After all, her second sister seemed to have accumulated several extra lives, she could just use one to revive and return to the starting point.
But Jiang Tang seemed to have forgotten. She strode straight toward where Jiang Lan was standing.
Tao Xinran quietly lowered her gaze. Had she misread things earlier? Did Jiang Tang actually dislike her?
“Don’t you still have extra lives?” Jiang Lan reminded Jiang Tang.
“I know. I’ll save them for later. Big Sister, you must be tired from writing, let me take over for a bit.”
Jiang Lan didn’t stand on ceremony with her sister and joined the actual game zone, feeling as if she’d been transported back to a childhood she’d never experienced.
Jiang Tang’s mind was unsettled, and her writing was erratic, making it impossible for the others to predict when she’d turn around.
The first to fall victim was Tao Xinran. Jiang Tang stared blankly at her but said nothing. Tao Xinran stepped forward on her own, masking her disappointment with a smile. “I moved just now.”
“Sister Tao,” Ruan Wei called softly.
Tao Xinran smiled nonchalantly at her. “Weiwei, don’t let me catch you.”
Jiang Tang returned to the starting point, carrying her extra lives to begin anew.
Though Tao Xinran didn’t outwardly show it, emotions were as elusive as magnetic fields, those who cared would always sense them.
Tao Xinran wrote slowly, and for once, Jiang Tang didn’t move a single step. Jiang Li, however, clearly miscalculated and twitched just as Tao Xinran finished writing and turned around.
“I misjudged it, Miss Tao caught me,” Jiang Li admitted. Having no extra lives, she strode forward to take Tao Xinran’s place.
A sister’s debt, a younger sister’s repayment. If she didn’t do something, her second sister’s path to winning her beloved would only grow longer.
“Thank you,” Tao Xinran said, naturally recognizing Jiang Li’s deliberate move.
“No need. My second sister didn’t mean anything by it earlier, she’s just straightforward. Not in orientation, but in thinking.”
As they passed each other, Jiang Li quietly explained on her sister’s behalf.
Whether Tao Xinran believed it or not was beyond her control.
Tao Xinran returned to the starting point and began moving slowly this time, just as Jun Jue had at the beginning. Watching Jun Jue and Ruan Wei move in perfect sync, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy before her gaze drifted back to Jiang Tang.
Jiang Tang remained rooted in place, not moving an inch. Her heart fluttered faintly, was she waiting for her?
Learning from past mistakes, Tao Xinran didn’t dare make her intentions too obvious this time, advancing in small, measured steps.
Just as Jiang Li turned her head again, Jiang Tang also happened to glance back, freezing in place as her gaze collided directly with Tao Xinran’s eyes.
Tao Xinran quickly lowered her gaze, while Jiang Tang looked away in the opposite direction, upwards.
Jiang Li had actually noticed Jiang Tang’s movement, but seeing that her second sister seemed to be catching on, she decided not to say anything and turned back to continue writing.
The others in front of Jiang Tang had no idea what had just happened.
Before Jiang Li turned her head again, Jun Jue took Ruan Wei’s hand in hers.
“Truly the Chief Executive who swiftly got into a relationship and proposed just as quickly,” Jiang Li observed this detail and then shot a frustrated look at her second sister.
“Why are you looking at me, third sister? I didn’t move just now.”
Jiang Li: “…”
I want you to learn from the Chief Executive, look how smooth she is!
Jiang Li turned her head back, and Jiang Tang glanced again, this time anticipating where Tao Xinran would move next.
So, when Tao Xinran stepped forward, Jiang Tang subtly shifted a step back, aligning herself perfectly on the same horizontal line as Tao Xinran.
