The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 49
Jun Jue had been troubled by one thing recently, how to propose to Ruan Wei.
Their relationship had reached a point where everyone around them seemed to forget they weren’t actually married yet. But Jun Jue still wanted Ruan Wei to have all the proper ceremonies and romance she deserved.
“Sister, what’s been bothering you lately?” Ruan Wei asked one afternoon when Jun Jue came to pick her up from work.
Had she been that obvious?
As they walked out of the hospital, Jun Jue deliberately glanced at the smart glass doors a couple of times.
“Sister, Tian Tian’s wedding is tomorrow, and I still haven’t figured out what gift to give her.”
“It’s fine. We can go to the mall now and pick something,” Jun Jue said, pulling her attention away from the glass.
“And how much should we put in the red envelope?” Ruan Wei lowered her voice slightly, no longer demanding to spread her wings and fly like she had in previous days.
Once they were in the flying car, Ruan Wei leaned against her.
Jun Jue turned her head and saw Ruan Wei’s beautiful face up close, her lively eyes, the long lashes fluttering gently with each blink, like the wings of a fairy.
“Is 5,000 star coins okay?” Ruan Wei asked hesitantly, her sweet breath lingering at the tip of Jun Jue’s nose.
Jun Jue swallowed and, following her instincts, kissed Ruan Wei lightly.
Then she saw Ruan Wei’s beautiful, pitch-black pupils widen abruptly.
Ruan Wei covered her lips and pulled back.
“Sister, what are you doing? People could see us here.”
The corner of Jun Jue’s lips curled up, her usually cool eyes softening with amusement. “Weiwei, you weren’t afraid of people seeing when you flew with me.”
“That’s different. It’s only for a split second when we take off, and I’ve already mastered invisibility.”
“Our kiss just now was also just a split second.”
Ruan Wei’s lips parted slightly, suddenly realizing Jun Jue had a point. Her face flushed instantly.
Unable to resist, Jun Jue leaned in again and pecked Ruan Wei’s rose-petal-soft lips.
Dizzy, Ruan Wei slumped against the back seat and closed her eyes, as if that would hide her embarrassment.
The flying car took off.
…
By the time they reached the largest mall in the Federation’s central district, Jun Jue had already parked the flying car. Ruan Wei had fallen asleep on the way and still hadn’t woken up.
“Weiwei,” Jun Jue called softly, but Ruan Wei didn’t stir. She had been exhausted from helping the children with their physical rehabilitation exercises that day, which was why she had dozed off in the car.
Though Jun Jue didn’t know the specifics, she couldn’t bring herself to wake her.
Instead, she found a compromise, browsing the mall’s official website on her shopping app and adding anything suitable to the cart.
By the time Ruan Wei finally woke up, Jun Jue had already filled 100 shopping carts.
“A hundred? Sister, are you a shopping maniac?”
Jun Jue was about to respond when Ruan Wei suddenly gasped. “Ah! It’s almost 11. The stores are about to close, aren’t they?”
“Mhm,” Jun Jue replied calmly.
Ruan Wei’s expression fell. The brief nap didn’t seem to have recharged her at all.
“Weiwei, don’t worry. There’s still time. Just pick something from here, and we can buy it tomorrow morning.”
“Really?” Ruan Wei still felt guilty for oversleeping.
Jun Jue took Ruan Wei’s hand and kissed it gently. “It’s fine, Weiwei.”
Gradually calming down, Ruan Wei began browsing through the shopping carts.
“Sister, you have such good taste. I think all of these are great, but…” She could only choose one.
Seeing Ruan Wei’s dilemma, Jun Jue quietly stayed by her side, sharing in her indecision.
After about another 20 minutes, Ruan Wei tapped the screen excitedly with her finger and exclaimed, “This one!”
“I think this is the most suitable for Tian Tian!”
“Let’s go with this!”
It was a golden necklace with a pendant shaped like an adorable short-haired girl, bearing some resemblance to Tian Tian’s face. Jun Jue immediately placed the order.
…
The clerk, who had just finished verifying the order details and was about to clock out, suddenly heard a “ding” and glanced at the name of the person placing the order. All drowsiness vanished instantly.
The Federation implemented a real-name system, so the clerk could directly see Jun Jue’s name.
Panicked, the clerk reported the situation to the manager, what to do when they suddenly received an order from the Chief Executive just as they were about to leave work.
Manager: !!!
The manager decided to call Jun Jue’s communicator to see if it was urgent.
Jun Jue, just about to head back, suddenly received a voice call from the store.
“Huh? Didn’t the app just show the store was closed? Could this be a scam?”
Jun Jue chuckled helplessly and answered the call.
“Hello, may I ask if this is Chief Executive Jun Jue?”
“Yes. Speaking.”
“Chief Executive, it’s like this…” The manager excitedly rambled on, but Jun Jue still grasped the main point, they were asking if the item needed to be delivered to her residence immediately.
“I’m right outside the mall. The main entrance is already closed. If possible, could you bring it to the mall’s exterior? I’ll transfer the payment directly.”
No sooner had they stepped out of the flying car than the manager of the jewelry store, dressed in a black professional suit, rushed out from the back of the mall in high heels.
“There must be a back door,” Ruan Wei speculated, waving her hand to signal their location to the manager.
The manager immediately spotted the lively Ruan Wei waving and then noticed Jun Jue standing beside her, her usual aloof demeanor softened.
The Chief Executive seemed very different from her usual public image.
The manager thought to herself as she respectfully handed over the carefully packaged gift box.
“Thank you,” Ruan Wei said, accepting the box, while Jun Jue promptly settled the payment with the clerk.
The clerk breathed a sigh of relief. In the past, dealing with high-profile clients had always been a headache, she’d rack her brains trying to figure out how to ask for payment without offending them. Having clients like the Chief Executive and Lady Wei was nothing short of a dream come true.
“Thank you for working overtime and delivering this personally. I appreciate it,” Jun Jue said sincerely. As the clerk walked back, she felt as though she had reached the pinnacle of her life.
…
With the wedding gift for Tian Tian secured, Ruan Wei was overjoyed. From the mall all the way home in the flying car, Jun Jue noticed that Ruan Wei’s smile never faded.
She wanted Ruan Wei to always be this happy.
After carefully storing the gift, Jun Jue took Ruan Wei to bathe together. The single bathtub had been replaced with a double-sized one, Jun Jue loved being in the water, and Ruan Wei adored soaking in milk baths.
“Why is this bathtub so much bigger?” Ruan Wei had been puzzled when Jun Jue mentioned they’d bathe together, but upon entering, she was surprised to find the tub had grown significantly in size.
Jun Jue gently pressed her into the milk-filled bathtub.
“Silly Weiwei.”
As her body swayed slightly with the sensations, Ruan Wei closed her eyes, imagining herself as a mermaid swimming freely in a sea of milk.
And what was Jun Jue to her?
When it was over, she wrapped her arms around Jun Jue’s neck and whispered in her ear, “The human who loves the mermaid.”
Jun Jue had grown accustomed to Ruan Wei’s whimsical thoughts every time she closed her eyes. With a soft chuckle, she added,
“I like the mermaid named Weiwei.”
Ruan Wei curled her lips smugly, but in the next moment, Jun Jue’s advances drained all the strength from her body. The mermaid’s lips and pearl-like defenses were breached, completely overtaken by a human who knew no restraint once in private territory.
“I can’t move again,” Ruan Wei said shyly, covering her face.
A faint smile playing on her lips, Jun Jue changed the bathtub water five times.
When it was time to get out, Ruan Wei refused, cooing, “Mermaids can’t walk on land.”
Jun Jue played along, “With me here, you don’t have to move.”
You don’t have to move.
Don’t have to move.
Ruan Wei mulled over the words a few times. Come to think of it, she really hadn’t moved much, no, not at all. She hadn’t taken the initiative even once.
Ruan Wei: (._.)
By the time she realized it, she was already being placed on the soft bed by Jun Jue.
Ruan Wei pulled the blanket over herself and blinked. “Are we done for today?”
“Even though we don’t have work tomorrow, we still have to attend Tian Tian’s wedding,” she reminded in a small voice, hinting that tomorrow was a special occasion and they shouldn’t mess around recklessly.
Jun Jue laughed silently, leaning closer. Ruan Wei burrowed further under the blanket.
“Weiwei, do I really seem that insatiable?”
Ruan Wei nodded under the covers, then reconsidered Jun Jue could exercise restraint if she wanted to and shook her head.
Jun Jue clapped her hands once, and the warm glow of the crystal chandelier overhead instantly dimmed.
Assured that nothing more would happen, Ruan Wei peeked out from the blanket and looked up at the chandelier. Vampires could see just as clearly in the dark as in daylight. The interplay of black and colored light was mesmerizing.
She had pestered Jun Jue to change it last week, finding the original bedroom lamp too plain and unappealing.
The sheets, pillowcases, and even the walls had been replaced, now a girlish pink, like her second pair of wings.
“I love you so much, Sister.” Ruan Wei whispered, thinking Jun Jue was asleep.
In the darkness, Jun Jue smiled.
That night, they both had pleasant dreams.
…
The next morning, over breakfast, Ruan Wei said to Jun Jue, “Sister, I dreamed about our wedding last night. Isn’t it strange? Maybe because Tian Tian’s getting married today, I started thinking about us.”
Jun Jue placed some of Ruan Wei’s favorite dishes into her bowl and asked, “What was our wedding like in your dream?”
Ruan Wei rested her chin on her hand, trying to recall, but her expression soon turned frustrated, she could only remember wearing a long white wedding dress.
Jun Jue reassured her, “Our wedding will definitely be better than in your dream.”
After breakfast, Jun Jue helped Ruan Wei with her makeup and dressed her in an elegant yet understated outfit that wouldn’t outshine the bride. Then they set off.
Excited, Ruan Wei held the red envelope in her hand, pulling out the paper star currency inside. The face on it was none other than Jun Jue’s, with the change in leadership, even the currency had been updated.
They had withdrawn it from a federal ATM earlier, Ruan Wei’s salary from last month.
“Sister, do you remember the day we went to take those photos?”
Jun Jue didn’t want to reminisce, and Ruan Wei didn’t press further, simply ending with heartfelt praise: “How are you so beautiful, Sister?”
For a brief moment, Jun Jue’s mind wandered, causing the car to sway slightly.
“No wonder I decided to save you the moment I saw your face that day.”
So, Ruan Wei had saved her based on her looks that day? No wonder she kept calling her “pretty sister” before even knowing her name or identity.
The wedding was filled with harmony and joy. Although the guests had initially been somewhat restrained by Jun Jue and Ruan Wei’s presence, the atmosphere quickly warmed up.
When the bride tossed her bouquet, Ruan Wei pushed to the front, competing with great enthusiasm.
Jun Jue stood at the back, reaching out at just the right moment to catch the pristine white bouquet in her hand.
The moment Ruan Wei turned around and saw Jun Jue holding the bouquet, stars nearly spilled from her eyes. Thunderous applause erupted in the venue, everyone knew the significance of catching the bouquet.
Jun Jue handed the bouquet to Ruan Wei, her lips parting as she prepared to speak.
With a radiant smile, Ruan Wei beat her to it: “Sister, are you going to propose to me?”
“No need for a proposal, I already agree to marry you!”
