The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 48
With the help of 100,000 Federal troops and Jun Jue’s 10,000 personal guards, the post-war reconstruction of Planet GR03 was swiftly and successfully completed.
Jun Jue also had Jiang Lan personally procure basic construction resources from nearby planets, significantly advancing GR03’s modernization. Of course, certain unique features were deliberately preserved, such as the Valley of Ten Thousand Flowers, which had formed after the war.
The former star lord, is now the official planetary administrator, threw himself into the reconstruction efforts without complaint. He lost a considerable amount of weight, his potbelly disappeared, and even his baldness showed signs of improvement.
The dungeons that had once imprisoned vampires were completely demolished. In their place, a dedicated vampire cemetery was built to honor the spirits of those who had perished in the cells. A funeral was also held.
On the day of the funeral, a light rain fell. The Federal troops and personal guards remained on their warships while Jun Jue, Ruan Wei, and others accompanied the planetary administrator and GR03’s residents to pay their respects.
The planetary administrator knelt before the tombstones and offered a sincere apology.
…
By the end of winter, after a unanimous vote by all Federal citizens, Jun Jue was elected as the new Chief Executive, fulfilling the people’s expectations.
Upon assuming office, Jun Jue promoted Jiang Lan to the rank of General, while Jiang Tang and Jiang Li were both elevated from Major Generals to Lieutenant Generals.
When spring arrived, the Federal Supreme Court repealed the law that had declared “vampires shall not exist in this world.”
Overnight, the last three remaining vampires became the most sought-after figures in the entire galaxy. Humans who married vampires even enjoyed special benefits.
Jun Jue’s union with Ruan Wei, as the Chief Executive, was seen as a match made in heaven, a model for the era.
Ruan Wei was now universally recognized as the Chief Executive’s wife, while Tao Xiran and Sun Qian also became highly sought after.
However, neither of them showed any obvious romantic inclinations. Sun Qian genuinely had no such thoughts for the time being, but Tao Xiran was different.
Jun Jue, Ruan Wei, and Sun Qian all knew that Tao Xiran was waiting for Jiang Tang to make the next move. Yet Jiang Tang remained as she always had, appearing by Tao Xiran’s side whenever she had free time, but never taking things further.
Ruan Wei had even asked Jiang Tang about it privately, but Jiang Tang skillfully dodged the question.
Jun Jue also felt that Jiang Tang’s recent behavior was unlike her usual self. However, as a subordinate, Jiang Tang wouldn’t casually discuss her personal feelings with her superior.
“Sister Jiang Tang has even learned to change the subject now. Who was it that said she wanted to take in a vampire? Is she still hesitant because Sister Tao is a vampire?” Ruan Wei, after happily drinking her fill of blood from Jun Jue, licked her lips and spoke up for Tao Xiran.
“Jiang Tang must have her own plans. She’s not the type to lead someone on without taking responsibility.”
“Actually, I think so too.”
Ruan Wei snuggled deeper into Jun Jue’s embrace, stretching her limbs like an octopus, as if trying to pin her to the bed.
Jun Jue smiled faintly and asked helplessly, “Still not full today? Drink a little more while you can, I have to go to work soon.”
“Am I going to drain the General dry like this?” Ruan Wei asked worriedly, given how frequently she fed.
Jun Jue’s smile turned even more resigned. “Weiwei, do you have any idea how little blood you actually take?”
Ruan Wei’s eyes widened in surprise.
How could that be? She had always thought she drank too much and suspected she had an excessive blood addiction.
After work that day, Jun Jue took Ruan Wei to the hospital.
Ruan Wei asked cheerfully, “General, can I go back to work at the hospital now?”
“Mm.”
Ruan Wei was so happy she nearly jumped for joy. Unexpectedly, she ran into the children she had taken care of before.
“Sister Weiwei!” The kids swarmed around her in excitement.
Ruan Wei stumbled and nearly fell, but luckily Jun Jue was beside her to steady her.
The children had been heading to the restroom together when they bumped into Ruan Wei and Jun Jue, an entirely serendipitous encounter.
Only after repeatedly confirming that Ruan Wei would return to work the next day did the kids finally scamper off toward the restroom, glancing back every few steps. Ruan Wei waved at their retreating figures, and Jun Jue took the opportunity to hold her hand, leading her to their original destination.
It wasn’t until they arrived that Ruan Wei realized where they were.
It turned out to be the hospital’s blood donation center.
Since she had already fed Ruan Wei earlier in the day, Jun Jue didn’t opt for the usual 300-milliliter donation and instead chose 200 milliliters.
Jun Jue rolled up her sleeve, revealing an arm with clearly visible veins. There was a red mark on it, and the nurse about to insert the needle paused in surprise.
“What’s this?” The nurse leaned in for a closer look. After all, the former general and current chief executive’s health was of utmost importance, no room for oversight.
Jun Jue swiftly withdrew her arm and offered the other one instead, which was clean and unmarked.
“Go ahead,” Jun Jue told the nurse.
The nurse still hesitated. “Chief Executive, your right arm seems…”
“It’s nothing, just a bug bite.”
“Ah! Could the Chief Executive be allergic?” the nurse exclaimed. Meanwhile, Ruan Wei stood to the side, sticking her tongue out at Jun Jue.
Jun Jue shook her head helplessly.
The nurse was even more puzzled. For a moment, she thought the Chief Executive’s gaze had softened with affection until she turned and saw Madam Weiwei standing behind her. She nearly misinterpreted the situation.
Collecting herself, the nurse said nothing more and inserted the needle into the faint blue vein on Jun Jue’s left arm.
She heard Madam Weiwei gasp softly behind her.
Looking up, she saw the Chief Executive’s expression remained unchanged as blood flowed steadily through the tube into the collection bag.
The Chief Executive truly lived up to her reputation as the Federation’s Goddess of War. Most people donated blood from their left arm, where blood flow was slower, sometimes even leading to clotting or inefficacy due to sluggish circulation.
But the Chief Executive was different.
Just by observing the speed of her blood flow, one could infer her immense vitality though, really, no inference was needed. This was common knowledge across the galaxy.
After the donation, Jun Jue pressed a cotton swab to the puncture to stop the bleeding. Ruan Wei leaned in and gently blew on the spot, which barely qualified as a wound.
“Blow on it, and it won’t hurt anymore,” Ruan Wei said sympathetically.
With the nurse present, she couldn’t heal Jun Jue directly, so she resorted to the same method she used to comfort children who had fallen and scraped their knees.
Jun Jue reached up and patted Ruan Wei’s head.
“Weiwei, do you like children?”
“I do,” Ruan Wei answered without hesitation.
“Good.” Jun Jue’s smile deepened. She stood, thanked the nurse, and then led Ruan Wei away.
Ruan Wei glanced back longingly, the bag of blood Jun Jue had donated still sat on the chair where she had been sitting.
“Weiwei, let’s go home.”
Ruan Wei reluctantly turned back and murmured under her breath, “That was such a big bag of blood…”
A rough estimate suggested that the bag of blood would last her about four or five days if she drank it daily.
“Now do you believe you don’t drink much?”
Ruan Wei pressed her lips together, still feeling a pang of guilt.
“Weiwei, that bag of my blood can save lives,” Jun Jue said, which made Ruan Wei feel a little better. Jun Jue’s blood wasn’t lost for no reason, it wasn’t just to prove a point to her. It could actually help people, and that gave it meaning.
Jun Jue watched as Ruan Wei brightened up again and silently tightened her grip on her hand.
“General, does this mean I can donate blood in the future too?” Ruan Wei asked excitedly.
Jun Jue noticed she still hadn’t corrected her form of address and gently corrected her, “The current Federation General is Jiang Lan, not me.”
“Oh, right! Chief Executive.” But even after saying it, Ruan Wei still felt awkward and switched to a term she had only used a handful of times before.
“Pretty… sister?” she ventured hesitantly, unsure if Jun Jue, now the Chief Executive, would still accept such a familiar address.
“Hmm,” Jun Jue responded.
Ruan Wei suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
“Let’s go home,” Jun Jue said.
…
They had arrived in a flying car, but now that Jun Jue had donated blood, Ruan Wei refused to let her drive. She casually shrugged off her white wool coat, revealing a sleeveless tank top underneath.
Jun Jue frowned. “Weiwei, you’re at it again.”
“I’m a vampire. I don’t feel the cold,” Ruan Wei declared confidently. “Besides, sister, your hand is injured. You can’t drive. I’ll fly you home with my wings.”
Jun Jue: “…”
Ruan Wei’s outfit was clearly premeditated. Even if Jun Jue hadn’t donated blood or had no injury, Ruan Wei would have found another excuse like telling her not to drive while fatigued, or that as Chief Executive, she should lead by example.
She watched as Ruan Wei eagerly stretched her shoulders, and a pair of rainbow-hued wings, like a post-rain prism, unfurled from her back, followed by a pair of pink wings. The sight drew the attention of many, it was rush hour, with shift-changing staff and patients coming and going, all stopping to stare.
For the first time, Jun Jue felt an indescribable sensation, what Federation citizens referred to as “social death.”
“Sister, let me fly you!” Ruan Wei was practically bouncing with excitement.
The last time she had flown with Jun Jue was during an emergency. This would be the first time in a casual, everyday situation. She wasn’t even sure if it would work, if not, they could always take the flying car.
Jun Jue didn’t move. She was still mentally preparing herself. As Chief Executive, she was theoretically supposed to uphold an even more dignified image than she had as a general. She shouldn’t do anything unbecoming of her position.
Like, say, being wrapped up in Ruan Wei’s wings and flown away in front of a crowd.
As they stood in a stalemate, Tian Tian emerged from the hospital and, spotting Ruan Wei, ran over excitedly.
“Weiwei, are you coming back to work at the hospital?”
Ruan Wei gave her wings a little flutter. The glow of the setting sun bathed her in a soft, ethereal light, as if she were enveloped in a dreamy filter, radiant and otherworldly, as though she might take flight at any moment and never return to the mortal realm.
“Weiwei, your wings are so beautiful! And you have two pairs, that’s amazing!” Tian Tian gushed without restraint. She had already heard about how, during the crisis on GR03, Ruan Wei had followed General Jun Jue, now the Chief Executive and leaped off a cliff, unexpectedly unlocking her flight ability and manifesting wings to save her.
Love truly has the power to work miracles.
Ruan Wei felt a little light-headed from all the praise, not quite flying, but almost as if she were.
She shot Jun Jue a smug glance, and Jun Jue responded with a tender gaze.
“By the way, Weiwei, my fiancée and I have postponed our wedding to this weekend. Would you and the Chief Executive be able to attend?”
“Of course!” Ruan Wei agreed without hesitation. Tian Tian was one of her few human friends. Back when Zhuo Hanjun had accused her, Tian Tian had even spoken up in her defense, something Ruan Wei had later learned about.
“Congratulations, Tian Tian. I know you’ll be happy.”
Tian Tian stole a glance at Jun Jue, worried she might be annoyed from waiting too long. But all she saw was Jun Jue gazing at Ruan Wei with such tenderness and focus, as if Ruan Wei were the only person in her world.
“Weiwei, you and the Chief Executive will definitely be happy too!”
Tian Tian waved and ran off toward her girlfriend’s parked hovercar in the distance.
After Tian Tian left, Jun Jue stepped closer to Ruan Wei. “Weiwei, let’s go home too.”
“Sister…”
Ruan Wei whined.
Clearly, she hadn’t given up on the idea of flying with her.
Jun Jue glanced around, there were a lot of people.
But Ruan Wei wanted this.
After hesitating for a few more minutes, Jun Jue nodded in agreement.
The crowd only saw Ruan Wei suddenly wrap her wings around Jun Jue, and then nothing. It was as if they had vanished into thin air, too fast for anyone to snap a photo.
Jun Jue stayed awkwardly nestled in Ruan Wei’s soft wings for a moment before suddenly feeling them spread open. They were now high above the clouds, with hovercars passing by in the distance.
Jun Jue turned her head away, nervous about being spotted, when she suddenly realized, she couldn’t see Ruan Wei. Or herself. They seemed to have turned invisible.
“Weiwei, what’s going on?”
“Well, since the General is so shy, I just happened to develop my flying abilities a bit further. Now I can go invisible too,” Ruan Wei said proudly.
Jun Jue let out a small sigh of relief.
For the next several days, Ruan Wei pestered her relentlessly, insisting on flying her to work.
Even though the process was invisible, Jun Jue still felt a little awkward about it.
But every time Ruan Wei whined and begged, she couldn’t help but give in.
Her little vampire… of course she had to spoil her.

Chief Executive Jun Jue: Ah well, reputation isn’t as important as Weiwei.
