- Chapter 15 - Encountering Red Clothes, The Lover
“It should be one of the powerful races from the Four Territories.”
“Someone this powerful must certainly hold a high status.”
Xiaoyu walked ahead, her ears pricked up to listen carefully.
She wasn’t sure if it was due to the effect of her fox ears, but she felt she could hear voices from further away.
“Are you still going in or not?” The demon beast who had previously shown a fawning expression towards Xiaoyu grew impatient, swinging his iron hammer and striking the ground, causing yellow sand to fly.
Upon hearing this, Xiaoyu quickly collected her thoughts.
Taking advantage of the sparse number of demons nearby, she touched the top of her head. Feeling the pair of fluffy ears that had emerged, she thought that Wen Yu’s spell was quite effective since none of them had noticed.
However, the words those demon beasts were speaking…
Do the more powerful demon beasts take on a human form that is more similar to humans?
Could the original body have been very powerful?
As she was pondering this, she suddenly heard a hoarse voice abruptly speak: “Which Demon Territory does this Elder come from? Is it perhaps from the Main Territory?”
Xiaoyu was lost in thought and didn’t notice a demon beast approaching her.
She sharply stepped back to the side, turned her head, and saw that the one approaching was a snake-headed, human-bodied demon beast.
It flicked its serpentine tongue. Its scarlet eyes rolled wildly, and its entire head was covered in dense, brown scales, a sight that made one’s scalp tingle.
Xiaoyu felt her soul had flown away.
She silently took another step back, shifting her gaze away, not daring to look at the demon beast’s head.
Is this what a snake demon’s human form looks like!
Seeing that Xiaoyu didn’t answer, the snake demon raised its hand to stroke its bald head; its hand was also covered with a layer of brown scales.
The snake demon flicked its tongue: “Please forgive me, Elder. My demonic power is insufficient, so I can only transform into this appearance.”
Goosebumps rose all over Xiaoyu’s body. Her peripheral vision noticed other demon beasts looking their way. She forced herself to remain calm: “I apologize, but I have matters to attend to, I must leave now.”
Although she said this, the snake demon had no intention of leaving and instead pressed further: “May I ask what urgent matter brings the Elder to the Desert Demon Territory? Perhaps I can be of assistance.”
Xiaoyu slightly tilted her head to glance at the snake demon, but unfortunately, apart from the snake head, no expression could be discerned.
However, his tone of voice was almost identical to that of the gate-guarding demons: lowering his posture, eager to curry favor with someone of higher status.
Xiaoyu was very familiar with this tone and roughly understood what the snake demon was thinking.
She immediately got a headache.
She was an undercover agent, here to find a way to bring Wen Yu in. How could she possibly get involved with the demons in the territory?
So, she put on airs, acting as if she was too capable to need his help: “No need. I can manage perfectly well on my own.”
Having said that, she lifted her foot and walked away, not sparing the snake demon another look, and quickly increasing her pace.
The snake demon stared at Xiaoyu’s receding figure, its scarlet serpentine eyes revolving.
After walking for a while, Xiaoyu subtly looked back. Seeing that the snake demon hadn’t followed, she immediately sighed in relief.
Looking around again, she had already entered the peripheral area of the Desert Demon Territory. Everywhere she looked, there were undulating buildings with grayish-brown outer walls and rough surfaces.
Glancing at the sand beneath her feet, Xiaoyu thought these houses might have been built using materials found locally, constructed from sand and soil.
The area was surrounded by demon beasts. Standing on the roadside, she was momentarily unsure where to go.
Earlier at the gate, she had only seen demon beasts entering, but not a single one leaving.
It’s possible that this entrance only allows entry, and I’ll need to find an exit.
Why did only I fall in?
She looked left and right, observing the appearances of the demon beasts. Xiaoyu could only bite the bullet and try to find the exit herself. If she really couldn’t find it, she would go ask a demon beast.
The one advantage of being a demon now was that she wouldn’t be captured and eaten as a human.
Following the wide road for a while, seeing the endless path and the view-obstructing buildings, Xiaoyu gave up on searching on her own.
Without navigation or a map, it was impossible to find!
After wandering for a bit longer, a flash of red suddenly entered her vision.
It was an extremely beautiful woman, leaning against a wall and talking to a demon beast. Her slender fingers toyed with her long hair, and her enchanting eyes held a hint of subtle seduction.
The key was that this woman’s physical appearance was exactly the same as a human’s!
This would make communication much easier than with demon beasts that exposed their beast forms!
Xiaoyu immediately moved to a different spot, hiding herself, and secretly watched the woman, looking for an opportunity to ask for directions.
She bent down and peeked out for a long time. Her waist was starting to ache, but the woman didn’t seem to be moving.
A sense of agitation gradually rose in her body, making her feel slightly hot.
Xiaoyu was getting anxious. Just as she was about to walk straight over, she suddenly saw the woman lift her foot and walk towards Xiaoyu’s location.
Once the woman passed where Xiaoyu was hiding, Xiaoyu immediately followed, ready to strike up a conversation.
Unexpectedly, after only a few steps, the woman turned around, her red skirt blooming like a flower’s petals.
“You’ve been watching me for a long time over there. You little fox, what ideas are you hatching regarding me?”
The woman’s voice had a unique huskiness that sounded like a breeze blowing by, which was quite pleasant.
Xiaoyu, however, was so stunned by the woman’s beauty that she couldn’t look away.
Seeing the woman’s face so close, her gorgeous appearance immediately captured all of Xiaoyu’s attention.
Utterly stunning, stunningly brazen, and stunningly unrestrained.
The passing demon beasts frequently glanced over, halting their steps.
“Hello, I wanted to ask you something.” Xiaoyu regained her composure.
Seeing such a beautiful woman, if she didn’t have urgent matters to attend to, she would definitely want to make friends with her.
Just as this thought flashed through her mind, Xiaoyu suddenly realized that the woman’s words contained the character for ‘fox’, making her jump.
“How did you know?” She instinctively reached to touch her fox ears, but seeing the teasing look in the woman’s eyes, she immediately controlled her movement.
According to the previous demon beasts, this woman must be an extremely powerful demon. Could she see through Wen Yu’s spell?
The woman’s words negated Xiaoyu’s guess.
“You have the same scent as me.” The woman took a step closer to Xiaoyu, closing the distance significantly. Her nose was placed close to the side of Xiaoyu’s face as she lightly sniffed.
She was so close that Xiaoyu could see the woman’s eyes, which were indistinguishable from a human’s, rapidly transform into demon eyes. The vertical pupils contracted into a line, leaving only enchanting red pupils.
Xiaoyu stared at these demon eyes, gradually losing herself. She suddenly felt an unbearable heat all over, as if her entire body was being roasted by fire, causing intense discomfort.
It felt like something inside her body was about to erupt.
Despite the obvious discomfort on her face, the ears on top of her head were unusually excited.
She didn’t understand why she was suddenly in such distress. Her head was buzzing, and her eyes could only focus on the beautiful woman.
“Strange…” Xiaoyu felt as if she was very close to the woman. When she reached out to touch her, she grasped only air.
She struggled to keep her eyes open, only to see the woman gradually moving away. Her surroundings became hazy, and she felt weightless, as if floating in the clouds.
Until a voice cut through the void, pulling her back.
“Your inherent divine ability is surprisingly poorly trained.”
Xiaoyu blinked, seeing the familiar buildings around her and the woman’s slightly chiding look.
“My inherent divine ability?”
Although her consciousness had recovered its clarity, her entire body was still very hot. She wanted to take off the coat Wen Yu had given her.
But her reason told her she couldn’t take it off.
The woman scrutinized Xiaoyu, and seeing her anxious demeanor, she initially didn’t want to say much. However, her nose twitched, and she suddenly caught a strong, sweet scent. Her expression changed.
She lifted her skirt, using the red fabric to cover Xiaoyu’s entire body, and their figures instantly disappeared.
Xiaoyu was confused, unaware of what had happened. When she saw the light again, she was already inside a room.
Before she could recover from the sudden transfer, she suddenly heard the woman’s words: “Your breeding period was triggered by my enchantment ability.”
Xiaoyu was stunned.
She asked blankly: “Isn’t spring almost over?”
The woman was amused by this question.
“Didn’t your parents teach you that the breeding period for our Pure Fox lineage is continuous, starting from adulthood?” Seeing that Xiaoyu still looked clueless, the woman couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
She regretted not holding back her enchantment technique at the time. She mustn’t corrupt such an innocent little fox.
Xiaoyu didn’t quite understand. This was a fox demon’s nature. How would someone who had just arrived know about a “breeding period”?
The immediate priority was to find the exit.
But now she was intensely uncomfortable and very hot. She desperately wanted to find something cool to hug or press against to relieve the discomfort.
“Consider it my fault for not controlling myself,” the woman said, walking into the inner room: “Come inside with me. I’ll slowly help you suppress it.”
Xiaoyu hurriedly followed, asking: “Sister, can you suppress it right now? I have urgent matters to resolve.”
The woman glanced at Xiaoyu, noticing the spotless men’s white robe she was wearing, and teased: “What, are you in a hurry to see your lover?”
Xiaoyu intended to deny it, but Wen Yu was indeed outside, so she played along, pretending to meet her lover: “Someone is waiting for me outside, but I just arrived here and don’t know where the exit is.”
As she spoke these words, she pressed her palm tightly against her outer coat.
The garment Wen Yu had given her seemed to adjust its temperature according to her body heat. Touching it now, she felt only coolness.
If there hadn’t been an outsider present, Xiaoyu would have wanted to wrap her face in the coat.
She was truly so hot.
Upon hearing this, the woman glanced at the outer coat on Xiaoyu, thinking that with a lover waiting, she wouldn’t need her help.
“Alright, I’ll send you over.”
After the woman spoke, her seductive red pupils flashed. A rich fragrance swept over Xiaoyu, temporarily suppressing the agitation within her.
Believing Xiaoyu had someone who could help her, the woman only partially suppressed the feeling.
With a movement of her skirt, the surrounding environment shifted.
Xiaoyu saw a gate identical to the entrance, still guarded by demon beasts.
“Go see your lover,” the woman instructed: “The Desert Demon Territory clashes with our Pure Fox lineage. Lingering here will heighten your breeding desires.”
Seeing the woman about to leave, Xiaoyu quickly grabbed her arm, asking in a low voice: “If I were to bring a person in, how would I…”
Her demon identity provided the best cover now, and her purpose shouldn’t be suspected.
The woman raised an eyebrow, her eyes smiling mischievously: “Aren’t you afraid your human lover will be eaten?”
Xiaoyu shook her head. With Wen Yu’s strength, nothing bad would happen.
The woman suddenly leaned close to Xiaoyu, staring at her. Just as Xiaoyu was about to dodge the piercing gaze, the woman stepped back.
“Take your fox fur and place it on your lover. Once he is tainted with your demonic qi, he will be able to enter.”
She gave Xiaoyu a meaningful smile, suggesting pointedly: “But try not to play for too long.”
