The Fallen Beauty Becomes the Mob Boss’s Possession - Chapter 3
In the end, Qin Huai was forcibly dragged by Cheng Shangjian to the Ling residence.
The Ling family was in a completely different league than the Cheng family. As one of the capital’s most renowned commercial dynasties, the Ling family controlled many of the market’s economic lifelines.
As soon as they entered the grand hall, Ling Feng stepped forward and skillfully hooked his arm around Qin Huai’s waist. A glint of malice appeared in his eyes as he leaned down, whispering wickedly into Qin Huai’s ear:
“Qin Huai, you were truly something last night. Still, I happen to like your type.”
He viciously released his suppressive pheromones. Qin Huai felt dizzy and struggled to breathe. He tried his best to break free, but after being tormented all night, he had no strength left.
Seeing how intimate the two appeared, Cheng Shangjian seized the moment to ask, “President Ling, then what about the engagement banquet for you and Xiao Huai?”
“It will be held tomorrow. I will notify the distinguished guests in advance; rest assured, Uncle Xu.”
A weight lifted off Cheng Shangjian’s chest. He smiled obsequiously at Ling Feng:
“Earlier is better. You really know how to plan, President Ling.”
After Cheng Shangjian left, Ling Feng traced his hand across Qin Huai’s neck, his face darkening as he spoke.
“Qin Huai, you enjoyed yourself last night, didn’t you?”
Qin Huai felt a chill run down his spine at the sound of his voice. He clearly remembered hitting Ling Feng with a wine bottle the day before, drawing blood that covered the floor. Given Ling Feng’s personality, he should have been torn to shreds, yet here he was, speaking with such calm.
Ling Feng continued to suppress him with his pheromones, rendering him completely immobile.
Sensing that something was wrong, Qin Huai asked, “Ling Feng, what exactly are you trying to do?”
“What am I doing?” Ling Feng sneered. “I just want to see how Shen Yuzhi will react when he watches the person he loves marry his arch-nemesis.”
Qin Huai knew what he was planning and retorted mockingly:
“If you think you can use me to threaten him, let me tell you, that’s not going to happen.”
“Whether it’s possible or not is not for you to decide, Young Master Qin,” Ling Feng said, his tone sinister. “As long as I have you in my hands, I don’t believe he will be able to just sit by and do nothing.”
Qin Huai sat before the vanity mirror. He was dressed in wedding attire, his already striking features made more alluring by the makeup. His crimson lips were tightly pressed together, his delicate brows slightly furrowed, and his expression was cold and detached.
After the makeup artist finished, he was led out. Since yesterday, Ling Feng had kept him locked in this bedroom. Except for a small window on the balcony overlooking the view outside, the room was surrounded by impenetrable walls, and the door was locked from the outside; he had no way to escape.
Qin Huai knew he was being forced to accept this engagement, but he also realized that this banquet might be his only chance to escape. It was his only hope.
While Qin Huai was lost in thought, Ling Feng pushed the door open and entered.
As he drew near, the faint scent of ebony wood eroded Qin Huai’s senses, triggering an instinctive resistance—a mix of fear, unease, and difficulty breathing.
Ling Feng approached, hands in his pockets, smiling dissolutely.
“You really are a top-tier Omega; you are indeed quite valuable.”
Qin Huai couldn’t be bothered to look at him. He felt nothing but disgust and a desperate urge to flee; he didn’t want to spend even a second longer with such a person.
“Qin Huai.”
Ling Feng suddenly leaned in, blowing air against his ear, his words laced with pure ruthlessness.
“You’d best not pull any stunts later. I’m not known for my gentleness, and it would be best for you not to provoke me.”
Qin Huai was not intimidated. “If you’re capable, you should have just killed me.”
“Why would I be willing to let you die by my own hands?” Ling Feng’s expression suddenly turned colder. “I still need you to help me deal with Shen Yuzhi.”
At the mention of Shen Yuzhi, Qin Huai’s heart tightened.
He became even more determined to escape. Even if he died, he would never be a pawn for others.
The Ling family was prominent in the capital, and the engagement banquet was held at a high-end restaurant, attended by famous guests from various industries.
At the luxurious banquet, the brilliant lights shimmered with dazzling spots, and everything in sight was a display of opulence.
Qin Huai was forcibly led onto the ceremony stage by Ling Feng.
Passing through a blind spot, Ling Feng leaned in close. “Do you think Shen Yuzhi will come?”
Qin Huai hadn’t considered this question. His only focus now was using this opportunity to escape. As for what he had done to Shen Yuzhi, even he himself couldn’t forgive it.
Ling Feng held Qin Huai’s hand as they walked to the center. Qin Huai tried to pull away, but the strength of an Omega could not overcome an Alpha especially a top-tier Alpha who could suppress ordinary Alphas in both power and presence.
Qin Huai had assumed that this engagement banquet was inevitable, but just as the emcee announced the official start of the ceremony, every light in the venue went out, plunging the hall into absolute darkness.
Qin Huai didn’t have time to wonder what was happening; his only instinct was to escape.
While Ling Feng was distracted trying to contact his associates, Qin Huai broke free from his grip. In the darkness, he used the faint light source coming from the distant crowd to make his way toward the path he had arrived from.
However, before he could even get near the exit, a hand grabbed him, and he was pulled into a cold, familiar embrace.
“Don’t move.”
The voice behind him was low and hoarse, resonating through his eardrums.
Qin Huai smelled that familiar scent of pine, and his heart trembled. “Hanzhou?”
Shen Yuzhi released him slightly and said in a cold voice, “It’s me.”
Qin Huai thought he was dreaming. “How did you…”
Shen Yuzhi didn’t answer.
Although it was pitch dark, Qin Huai didn’t feel uncomfortable. Shen Yuzhi provided him with a sense of security that he couldn’t find anywhere else. Only by his side could he drop all his defenses and feel at ease.
In a daze, Qin Huai felt his feet leave the ground; only then did he realize Shen Yuzhi had scooped him up into his arms.
Amidst his racing heart, Qin Huai heard Shen Yuzhi say, devoid of emotion:
“I’m taking you out of here.”
On the way back, Qin Huai’s eyes were unfocused, and his emotions remained unsettled for a long time.
Shen Yuzhi sat on the other side, keeping a deliberate distance from Qin Huai.
He was expressionless, his brows furrowed, his gaze deep and dark. He exuded the overwhelming aura of a top-tier Alpha.
Top-tier Alphas stood at the apex of the human food chain, possessing pheromones strong enough to suppress others, forcing them to submit to their overwhelming power.
Even though Qin Huai trusted Shen Yuzhi’s pheromones, they had been separated for so many years that being in such close proximity still made him feel uneasy.
Qin Huai didn’t understand the meaning behind Shen Yuzhi’s actions. If he truly hated him and wanted revenge, he wouldn’t have waited until the moment of his engagement to intervene.
Qin Huai bit his lip and braced himself to ask:
“Why are you helping me?”
Qin Huai wasn’t sure exactly what he was asking, but he craved an answer—to know if Shen Yuzhi still cared about him.
Shen Yuzhi didn’t look at Qin Huai. He spoke in a cold, distant voice:
“You don’t need to know that.”
Qin Huai had his answer. For the rest of the journey, he didn’t say another word.
