The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 50
Jian Tao was bewildered. He had spent the entire morning guessing whether Gu Huaian knew he was the one who took the clothes. On one hand, Gu Huaian had specifically questioned him alone; on the other hand, he had not pressed for more details after Jian Tao denied it.
Eventually, he decided to stop obsessing over it. What he had done would be exposed sooner or later. When people discovered he was a fanatic fan of Gu Huaian, they would surely find him annoying.
At lunchtime, they did not go to the cafeteria. Instead, taking advantage of the lunch hour, they headed to the eighth floor. Jian Tao took out his room card and opened the door to Room 803. Before coming up, he had specifically found Xu Nuo and told him to wait in the room. Xu Nuo was very happy about this, and Jian Tao confirmed that he would not suddenly come upstairs.
Once inside, they went straight to the passage they had discovered earlier. The passage was equipped with a ladder, and the group climbed up one by one.
Zhao Jingyu stayed below to keep watch. Normally, this task would have been assigned to Jian Tao, but Jian Tao had not been out for a long time and desperately wanted to breathe fresh air outside the hotel. He asked Zhao Jingyu to swap roles, and to his surprise, Zhao Jingyu readily agreed.
At the top of the passage was an iron partition. Gu Huaian was at the front. Once he reached the spot, he stopped and pushed the iron plate above.
Seeing Gu Huaian stop, Jian Tao stopped as well. However, Zhou Jin, who was behind him, was lost in thought and accidentally bumped his head right into Jian Tao’s buttocks. Jian Tao immediately looked down and saw that Zhou Jin seemed even more frustrated than he was. Jian Tao said crossly, “Watch where you are going.”
“I know. It is not like I wanted to bump into you,” Zhou Jin replied. He then raised a hand to touch his forehead. Feeling the lingering soft sensation, his body felt a surge of heat, leaving him somewhat distracted.
Gu Huaian finally pushed the partition open, and the passage instantly brightened. The sunlight was piercing, and a blast of cold air rushed in. It was still snowing outside, and flakes drifted into the opening.
Jian Tao shivered. Gu Huaian had already climbed out; he turned back and reached his hand out to Jian Tao, pulling him up.
Their leather shoes made a crunching sound on the snow. Before them was a vast expanse of white. Jian Tao hugged his arms and sneezed. Gu Huaian immediately draped his coat over Jian Tao’s shoulders. Zhou Jin, who had just climbed up unattended, witnessed this scene and let out a disdainful sound.
Snowflakes fell steadily onto them. Jian Tao saw a distant gate. The black wrought-iron gate stood tall, partially submerged in the white mist. He wondered if they needed to lift a restriction or find a key to leave through there.
“There are bloodstains here,” Zhou Jin’s voice pulled Jian Tao back from the desolate scenery.
Jian Tao went over to look and saw a large protrusion in the center of the rooftop, buried deep under the snow. Gu Huaian led him closer. Once they reached it, Zhou Jin used his arm to brush away the snow, revealing an ancient stone platform inscribed with many strange symbols.
“There is blood on it,” Zhou Jin said. Some stains were dark and others light, clearly left behind during different periods.
They had not found any footprints when they came up; a day’s worth of snow like this could cover any trace.
“This is a sacrificial altar,” Gu Huaian said. “The people who died in the hotel might have been sacrificed here. We just do not know who they were being sacrificed to.”
Jian Tao nodded in agreement. He kept rubbing his shoulders, his nose already red from the cold. Gu Huaian reached out to brush a snowflake off Jian Tao’s eyelashes. It melted into a damp spot on his fingertip, and he unconsciously rubbed his fingers together.
“There is a lock here,” Zhou Jin said, crouching down and gripping the lock. He tried to pick it with a wire, but it was useless.
Gu Huaian also crouched down to inspect it. “Those people were likely sacrificed to whatever is inside this.”
They tried to find a flaw in the altar but failed. They stood up and gave up for now. “It seems only a key can open it.”
Gu Huaian walked to Jian Tao’s side and looked into the distance. “It is about five hundred meters from the hotel to the gate. These five hundred meters will not be easy to cross.”
Jian Tao was already shaking from the cold when he suddenly felt a puff of hot breath against his neck, causing him to shiver. He turned his head and saw Zhou Jin leaning down, sniffing at his neck. He immediately took a step away and said crossly, “What are you smelling me for?”
Zhou Jin’s brow was furrowed, and a nameless irritation rose within him. He had been distracted ever since he started following behind Jian Tao, and just now, he had sniffed him almost instinctively.
He felt very conflicted, but he still blustered, “You think I want to smell you? Let us go down, or I think you are going to freeze to death up here.”
Jian Tao immediately glared back at him, refusing to back down. At that moment, Gu Huaian put an arm around his shoulder. “Let us go. We are heading down.”
After heading back down, they returned to their dormitory instead of the cafeteria. Gu Huaian brought Jian Tao some bread and hot milk. Jian Tao held the cup in his hands, feeling the stiffness in his fingers gradually fade as they warmed up.
At 2:00 PM, they returned to their workstations. Jian Tao went to the back kitchen. To his horror, the food runner was now looking at him with eyes full of hatred. The runner’s eyes were bloodshot, and he radiated aggression, looking as if he might attack at any moment.
Feeling frightened, Jian Tao kept his distance. Just then, the pastry chef placed a decorated dessert on the counter and said, “Jian Tao, Room 404.”
Everyone in the kitchen knew what that meant. Recently, all dishes for Room 404 were specifically designated for Jian Tao to deliver.
Jian Tao subconsciously glanced at the food runner. Sure enough, the man’s expression grew even more terrifying. His bloodshot eyes seemed to narrow into slits. Jian Tao swallowed hard and cautiously moved toward the pastry. Just as he was about to reach it, the runner suddenly turned around and threw a pot of hot water at him. Jian Tao screamed and instinctively shielded his face, but his hand took the hit and was instantly scalded red.
The people nearby watched the spectacle with eerie smiles; no one came to help Jian Tao. The runner, now with a distorted face, lunged toward him. Jian Tao was terrified, but instinct drove him to run.
He grabbed the dessert plate and circled the counter to keep the runner at bay. After one lap, he bolted out of the kitchen. His heart hammered against his ribs as the runner chased him fiercely. Once he made it out, he looked back and saw that the runner seemed slightly more normal outside the kitchen and had given up the pursuit.
Jian Tao breathed a sigh of relief but did not dare stop until he entered the elevator. He pressed the button for the fourth floor, and as the elevator ascended, his tears began to fall.
At the door of Room 404, Jian Tao wiped away his tears and took a moment to compose himself before knocking.
The door opened quickly. Initially, Zhuang Sheng had a smile on his face, but it froze when he saw Jian Tao’s reddened eyes. “Xiao Tao, what happened?”
Jian Tao had managed to calm himself, but the moment Zhuang Sheng asked, his tears became uncontrollable again. He looked like a child who had been bullied and finally found a parent to vent to. “It is nothing now. I just had a bit of a conflict with a colleague.”
He could not really explain it. An NPC had gone berserk, but to a refined and gentle human like Zhuang Sheng, that probably would not make sense.
Zhuang Sheng frowned and reached for his hand. The moment he touched it, Jian Tao let out a hiss of pain and jerked back. Zhuang Sheng’s gaze darkened. He lifted Jian Tao’s hand and saw that the back of the hand and the wrist were entirely red. He set the dessert tray aside and said with a hint of reproach, “Even in this state, you did not forget to bring this. Is your manager going to give you a professional dedication bonus?”
Jian Tao pouted. “No.”
Zhuang Sheng led him to the sink and ran cold water over the burn. They stayed there for twenty minutes until the burning sensation faded. Zhuang Sheng then meticulously applied medicine. His patience made Jian Tao feel sheepish, and he could not help but think that Mr. Zhuang was truly a good person.
After everything was finished, Jian Tao rested there. He was now extremely reluctant to return to the kitchen, so he stayed until after work hours before heading back. He planned to ask for Gu Huaian’s advice on how to handle this.
When he returned, the light in the dormitory was on. He pushed the door open and saw Gu Huaian leaning on the bed. Gu Huaian looked up, and his brow instantly furrowed.
“What happened to your hand?” Gu Huaian asked.
Jian Tao was now just feeling the lingering fear. He lifted his hand. “After I went back this afternoon, the food runner suddenly went berserk. He did this.”
Gu Huaian walked over to him and lifted his hand to inspect it. “The medicine has already been applied?”
“Yes,” Jian Tao said. He then asked anxiously, “What should I do? He will definitely be even more deranged tomorrow.”
A sharp, murderous glint flashed in Gu Huaian’s eyes. “I will take care of him tonight.”
Jian Tao was instantly at ease. As expected of the number one ranker in the Infinite World, he felt complete security.
That night, Jian Tao lay down in bed and fell asleep shortly after. Then, the familiar sensation returned. This time the feeling was different. He did not immediately feel like a rubber man; instead, he felt like he was floating in the air.
Jian Tao realized he could see the entire “torture room,” and he finally saw what the vessel he inhabited looked like. It was a stark white rubber figure sitting silently on a chair, exuding an aura of death. The facial features were flat, and the feminine makeup looked as if it had been painted on.
Although it looked different from the reflection he saw in the mirror, he could tell it was the same entity. Suddenly, a force sucked him into the rubber body.
At that moment, 250 spoke in an excited voice, “Tao Tao, your voice taboo has been lifted! Also, you can move freely now, though it will be very slow. Additionally, I have detected that the world-lines are converging. This world might be completed in just a few days.”
“That is great!” Jian Tao said happily.
Jian Tao realized he was back in front of the mirror. “Do I have to consciously control the body in my mind for it to move?” he asked.
“Yes,” 250 replied.
“I knew it would not be that easy,” Jian Tao muttered. When he was not consciously controlling it, the body moved at a normal speed, but when he took control, his movements became very slow. He had to keep repeating “left leg, right leg” in his mind.
Jian Tao changed into his usual outfit and deliberately controlled the body to wander around the room. There was a real door in the room, but he did not have the key.
Just as he was thinking, the sound of a key turning came from the door. Jian Tao’s internal alarms blared. The person outside must be the real killer.
Jian Tao immediately stopped trying to control his body, letting it move naturally. He approached the wall where the fake door was. He pulled the door open and stepped through just as the real door opened behind him.
When Jian Tao appeared in the fourth-floor corridor, he breathed a sigh of relief. However, he soon saw the food runner walking toward him. The man was holding a tray with a delighted, eerie smile on his face. The runner walked past him as if nothing were wrong, not recognizing him at all.
Jian Tao wondered if the runner was heading toward Room 404 to take revenge on Mr. Zhuang. He immediately turned around and forced himself to control the body, moving toward Room 404. He had to warn Mr. Zhuang!
While he was shuffling along, the runner entered Room 404. When Jian Tao was about a third of the way there, a piercing scream rang out. The door to 404 flew open, and the runner bolted out as if he were running for his life.
A second later, Zhuang Sheng walked out. He was unhurried, but he carried an aura of coldness that Jian Tao had never seen before. Zhuang Sheng raised his hand slightly. As his fingers moved, the runner’s limbs were suddenly stretched to their limits. Finally, the runner’s body collapsed into a heap on the floor.
Jian Tao was completely catatonic. By the time he realized he had witnessed something horrific, he found that he had walked very close to Zhuang Sheng.
Looking at Zhuang Sheng’s beautiful face now, he nearly lost his soul from fright. Staff members appeared out of nowhere and began the cleanup.
“He actually did not die inside the room this time,” one remarked.
“Mr. Zhuang probably thinks this would make his room dirty,” another said.
Jian Tao’s scalp felt numb. He remembered the first time he entered Room 404 and Zhuang Sheng had applied solvent to his face. The man had clearly intended to turn him into a doll. He did not know why Zhuang Sheng had changed his mind back then.
Now, Jian Tao repeated “do not move” in his mind. He wanted Zhuang Sheng to ignore him. He felt both terrified and aggrieved; he had believed Zhuang Sheng was a good person.
Zhuang Sheng seemed to overlook him, but as he was about to return to his room, he caught a familiar scent. He paused, walked toward the rubber man, and leaned close to his neck to sniff.
Jian Tao was on the verge of a breakdown. In the next second, the mask on his face was removed. Zhuang Sheng’s elegant voice rang out, “Jian Tao.”
“Do not, do not kill me!” Jian Tao was almost crying.
Zhuang Sheng stared at him intently, then let out a sigh. “I am so sorry you had to see that.” He took Jian Tao’s hand. “How did you end up like this?”
Zhuang Sheng lead him toward the room. Jian Tao tried to put up a weak resistance, but Zhuang Sheng rubbed his hair and said softly, “Do not worry, I will not do anything to you.”
