The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 24
Jian Tao broke out in a cold sweat. He felt like he might actually receive his “final meal” before he even made it to the wedding day. The way Jiang Mu looked at him was less like looking at a living person and more like observing a specimen.
Jiang Shi, however, noticed nothing. He remained smiling as he asked, “Brother, do you want to eat with us?”
Jiang Mu forced himself to retract his gaze and said indifferently, “No.”
“Oh, alright then,” Jiang Shi replied. He then turned to place some food in Jian Tao’s bowl, adding thoughtfully, “You’re sick right now, so eat more vegetables.”
Jiang Shi had never taken care of anyone like this before. Usually, it was others who tiptoed around his feelings. As for serving someone food, this was a historic first. He hoped his brother would understand that Jian Tao was different to him now.
Jiang Mu didn’t spare them another look and went straight upstairs. Only then did Jian Tao finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Jiang Shi stroked his back gently. “You seem really afraid of my brother?”
Jian Tao rubbed his nose and said in a muffled voice, “Why would I be afraid of him?”
Jiang Shi laughed, sounding quite proud. “As long as you listen to me, my brother won’t do anything to you.”
His brother was indeed cold and ruthless. The outside world rumored him to be a cold-blooded monster, and everyone feared him, but Jiang Shi was the sole exception. They were brothers connected by blood, a bond that nothing could sever.
The act was over, and Jiang Shi prepared to send Jian Tao back. As they walked out, he draped an arm over Jian Tao’s shoulder and asked intimately, “You know what day it is on the second of next month, right?”
A flicker of confusion crossed Jian Tao’s face, but fortunately, 250 chimed in immediately: “It’s Jiang Shi’s birthday!”
Jian Tao instantly realized. “Of course I remember. It’s your birthday.”
Hearing this, Jiang Shi’s ears turned a subtle shade of red. “I’ll be holding the celebration here. Come early.”
Jian Tao nodded resignedly. He didn’t know what other trouble Jiang Shi was cooking up, but his head was spinning so much he didn’t care to think about it.
Meanwhile, standing by the second-floor window, Jiang Mu took in their every movement. The ice water in his hand made his fingertips numb with cold, yet he didn’t take a single sip.
Jiang Shi saw Jian Tao into the car. Jian Tao immediately leaned back against the seat. This trip had caused him to break out in a cold sweat, leaving his clothes damp and making him look as fragile as a porcelain doll.
However, Jiang Shi lingered by the open car door, refusing to close it. Jian Tao looked over, finding it a struggle even to keep his eyelids open. “What is it…”
Jiang Shi’s fingers toyed with the edge of the door. Looking into Jian Tao’s beautiful eyes, his body instinctively leaned forward. Finally, he pressed a quick kiss onto Jian Tao’s forehead. “Go on back.”
Before Jian Tao could even react, the door was shut. Jiang Shi, unable to hide his grin, hurried back into the villa.
Inside the room, there was a sharp crack. The water glass in Jiang Mu’s hand shattered. A terrifying coldness washed over his face.
Jiang Shi practically flew up to the second floor. He didn’t even knock before rushing into Jiang Mu’s room, his face beaming. “Brother…”
The words died in his throat, and his smile froze. He saw his brother expressionlessly wrapping gauze around his hand. The white fabric was already soaked through with crimson blood.
“Brother, how did you do that?” Jiang Shi asked with concern. “I’ll call a doctor.”
“No need,” Jiang Mu said coldly, pulling the knot tight.
Jiang Shi frowned at the hand. While men shouldn’t make a fuss over injuries, it was rare to see someone like his brother who didn’t even flinch. It was as if he were a cold-blooded machine incapable of liking anyone. If he ever did take an interest in someone, they would likely be terrified of him.
“So…” Jiang Shi softened his expression and said with a smile, “Brother, you see how well Jian Tao and I are getting along now? My change of heart wasn’t just a whim. Please, just agree to it…”
Jiang Mu simply looked at him quietly and asked, “Are you certain?”
For a fleeting second, Jiang Shi felt his brother’s expression was a bit odd, but he didn’t dwell on it and nodded immediately. “Yes, I’m certain.”
Jiang Mu sat down behind his computer desk. “Fine. I agree.”
Jiang Shi’s eyes lit up. “Brother! I knew you’d agree!” He almost jumped for joy. He could finally rest easy. “Brother… then I’ll move out of here.”
In truth, he had never thought about moving away from his brother. They had relied on each other since they were children, and it was just the two of them in this house. If he moved out, his brother would be all alone. Given his temperament, he wouldn’t look for a partner; he’d just be solitary with no one to talk to.
Even when Jian Tao was originally supposed to marry in, Jiang Shi hadn’t considered moving. Back then, he didn’t care about Jian Tao at all. But things were different now. He actually cared.
“Fine. I agree,” Jiang Mu said. He looked down and opened a file for an ongoing “Sky Garden” construction project. “Or, I can move out of here instead.”
“No, Brother, you stay here. I’ll find another house,” Jiang Shi said quickly. His brother had always been supportive of him without limit; he couldn’t kick him out just because he was getting married.
Jiang Mu nodded, his pale, deep eyes fixed on Jiang Shi. “Then everything will proceed as originally planned. If you want to hold a proper wedding later on, you can.”
“Yes, of course!” Jiang Shi agreed immediately. The original plan involved no ceremony—just a media report to finalize things. Now, he planned to give Jian Tao a grand wedding later. Since the date was so close, a rushed ceremony now would be too haphazard.
Jiang Shi leaned over the desk with his hands planted on the surface. “Brother, you’re the best!” If it weren’t for his brother’s extreme germaphobia, he would have lunged forward to give him a hug to thank him for all the years of protection.
Jiang Mu tilted his head slightly, a strange smile touching his lips. “The best, am I?” He lowered his head back to the project. “Go now. I have work to do.”
Jiang Shi shook his head. For some reason, the way his brother had looked at him just now made a chill run down his spine. However, he didn’t overthink it. “I’m going then, Brother.”
The moment the door closed, Jiang Mu looked up. He reached for a bottle of disinfectant on the desk and sprayed the spot where Jiang Shi had just been standing, as if venting his fury.
It was as if he were trying to erase something entirely.
