The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 25
The two days leading up to the wedding coincided with Jiang Shi’s birthday. The celebration was held privately at the Jiang residence, and although it wasn’t a grand public gala, the guest list was packed with influential friends from Jiang Shi’s social circle.
Jian Tao arrived a bit early. To show his “devotion,” he followed his usual routine of participating in the decorations. As dusk fell, the courtyard of the Jiang villa was brilliantly lit. Despite being a home gathering, the atmosphere remained remarkably prestigious.
Upon stepping out of the car, Jian Tao was greeted by Uncle Chen, the family butler. A man in his fifties dressed in a sharp black suit, he appeared rigorous and professional. Jian Tao handed over his gift to him. In previous years, Jiang Shi would never deign to accept a gift personally; Jian Tao usually had to force his presence upon the party and scramble to help with the setup.
But this time was different. Just as he handed the gift to the butler, Jiang Shi appeared. He snatched the package directly from Uncle Chen’s hands. Although he couldn’t fully suppress the smile on his face, he maintained a look of feigned disdain as he weighed the box. “What is this? It’s so light.”
Jian Tao’s heart raced. He silently prayed that Jiang Shi wouldn’t just toss it aside, as that would be incredibly embarrassing. “You’ll know once you open it yourself.”
Jiang Shi cleared his throat. “Anyway, go inside first. I’m waiting for someone here.”
Relieved, Jian Tao turned and headed into the courtyard. Once Jian Tao was out of sight, Jiang Shi immediately ducked into a corner to cautiously unwrap the box. Uncle Chen stood by, unable to hide his astonishment. In the past, the young master wouldn’t even glance at the most expensive gifts, yet now he was fascinated by a package that looked almost perfunctory. Looking at Jian Tao’s beautiful receding figure, the butler nodded in sudden realization.
Inside the box was a wristwatch. It was a common model worth around a hundred thousand—a style Jiang Shi usually looked down upon. Yet, he happily strapped it onto his wrist, even humming a small tune. He stretched out his arm to show it off. “Uncle Chen, the watch looks good, doesn’t it?”
“It looks excellent,” Uncle Chen affirmed. “It suits you perfectly.”
By the time Jian Tao reached the center of the yard, the preparations were nearly finished. The crowd had grown, so he decided to sneak away to grab some pastries. As he turned around, he bumped into a familiar tall, lean figure. The young man was dressed in a server’s uniform and holding a lamp stand. He froze upon seeing Jian Tao, his eyes lighting up instantly. “Gege?”
“Lu Jingze?” Jian Tao blurted out in surprise.
Lu Jingze looked shocked. “Gege, you actually know my name!”
Jian Tao’s mind raced to find an excuse for his slip of the tongue. “I have a good memory. I saw your name tag back at the bar.” He then quickly shifted his expression to match his spoiled heir persona, waving his hand impatiently. “Go back to work. Don’t slack off.”
Jian Tao turned and walked away, leaving Lu Jingze standing there with a look of dejection. A nearby colleague sneered at him. “Stop daydreaming. Look at yourself; what do you have besides your face? Someone like him is far beyond your reach.”
Lu Jingze’s expression went cold. “What’s wrong with dreaming? He remembered my face even after all this time.”
The colleague snorted with jealousy. “Even if he took an interest in you, you’d be nothing more than a plaything.”
Lu Jingze didn’t get angry; instead, he smiled. “Being able to be his plaything is a talent in itself. I’m willing.”
“You’re beyond reason!” The colleague tried to walk away, but Lu Jingze stuck out his foot, sending the man sprawling face-first onto the ground. Without a second glance, Lu Jingze chased after Jian Tao.
Jian Tao went to the guest restroom on the first floor to wipe a cream stain off his collar. As he looked in the mirror, he saw Lu Jingze standing beside him, smiling. Before he could ask what the boy wanted, Lu Jingze turned on the faucet to wash his hands, leaving Jian Tao’s question stuck in his throat.
“Tao Tao,” 250’s voice reminded him. “You wanted his contact information at the bar. This is a perfect opportunity.”
“Oh, right,” Jian Tao realized. He glanced at the person next to him. Lu Jingze caught his gaze immediately and smiled, revealing a charming dimple.
“Hey,” Jian Tao said, putting on his best spoiled brat act. “Let’s exchange WeChat. Next time I go to the bar, I’ll look for you to order drinks.”
His words carried a hint of ambiguity, serving as a foundation for their future arrangement. Lu Jingze seemed desperate for money, taking on daytime jobs and constantly trying to please him. Jian Tao felt that the path to keeping him as a sugar baby would be very smooth.
As expected, Lu Jingze looked delighted. “Really, Gege?”
“Of course,” Jian Tao said, taking out his phone.
Just as they were about to exchange information, the sound of Jiang Shi’s voice nearby sent alarm bells ringing in Jian Tao’s head. Terrified and feeling guilty because of the “future lover” situation, he grabbed Lu Jingze and ducked into a restroom stall.
The guest restroom was spacious, featuring three stalls and a row of urinals. It was clean and odorless. Inside the cramped stall, Jian Tao’s heart hammered against his ribs. He leaned against the door to listen. A group of people had entered and were washing their hands; someone was even teasing Jiang Shi about his new watch.
Suddenly, Jian Tao felt a puff of air against his ear. The heat made his sensitive ear turn bright red. “Gege,” Lu Jingze whispered.
Jian Tao immediately hissed at him to be quiet. Lu Jingze held up his phone, displaying a QR code. Jian Tao understood and scanned it, but he forgot to silence his phone. The notification sound rang out clearly, and the sharp-eared people outside heard it.
“Yo, who’s in the stall? Exchanging contact info in secret? Why hide? It’s better to be open about it,” someone teased.
“Yeah, no doing bad things in the bathroom. Jiang Shi won’t allow it!”
The group outside burst into laughter. Jian Tao’s legs turned weak with fear. Lu Jingze reacted quickly, catching him and pulling him into a tight embrace to protect him. He leaned close to Jian Tao’s ear and whispered, “Don’t be afraid, Gege. We aren’t doing anything bad.”
Then, Jiang Shi’s annoyed voice cut through the laughter. “Stop messing around, or I’ll throw you all out.” When there was no response from the stall, he grew irritable and kicked the door. “Did you hear me!”
A slightly raspy voice finally replied from inside. “I heard you.”
The crowd outside exploded. “No way! Are they already halfway through?”
“The voice sounds young. Little brother, you should learn better habits.”
“Hahaha, they’re probably pulling up their pants right now.”
“Get lost! All of you, get out of here!” Jiang Shi snapped irritably. “Go find Jian Tao for me. I’ve looked everywhere and haven’t seen him.”
“Maybe he’s the one in there,” someone joked.
Jiang Shi delivered another kick. “Shut your mouth.”
