The Crematorium of the Top Omega Chasing After Alpha - Chapter 31.3
The truth about Murong Ruixue was something Ming Yu couldn’t reveal to Song Qingpei. All she could do was mix truth with lies, using jealousy as a pretext to make Song Qingpei comply. But it was clear Song Qingpei would never yield.
The two of them clashed, and an argument erupted between them.
Ming Yu’s brow was tightly furrowed. She knew that continuing to argue would only make things worse.
She took a deep breath and once again resorted to her old trick, softly uttering the key phrase: “Meng Meng.”
In the next moment, her expression shifted. She looked at Song Qingpei with a pitiful gaze and accused, “You, you’re being mean to me again?”
Song Qingpei froze, staring incredulously at the Ming Yu before her, no, ‘Meng Meng.’
She had actually returned.
“Mengmeng.”
Song Qingpei looked at her, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
‘Meng Meng’ glared at her, complaining with a voice still tinged with tears, “Can you can you just ignore Murong Ruixue from now on? Please?”
“Meng Meng, I have to work. Can you be good and listen to me?” Song Qingpei tried to reason with her.
But Meng Meng paid no attention, stubbornly insisting that Song Qingpei stop interacting with Murong Ruixue. No matter how long Song Qingpei explained, it had no effect. Meng Meng completely ignored her words and continued to sulk.
The two of them argued the entire way home without reaching any resolution.
By the time they arrived, it was already late.
Butler Su and the servants were already waiting at the entrance. When they saw Ming Yu and Song Qingpei step out of the car together, everyone hurried forward to greet them.
However, as Ming Yu stepped out of the car, everyone froze.
Ming Yu’s face wore an innocent, childlike smile, and her eyes were as clear as a child’s.
She walked up to Butler Su and said cheerfully, “Butler Su, I’m back!”
Butler Su was momentarily stunned, rooted to the spot, a flicker of shock in his eyes.
The servants exchanged uneasy glances, whispering among themselves.
“What’s wrong with the General? She seems like a completely different person.”
“Shh, don’t say such things. Be careful not to be overheard.”
Butler Su snapped back to reality and immediately straightened his expression, scolding in a low voice, “Enough idle chatter! Everyone, get back to your duties!” The servants fell silent at once, scattering to attend to their tasks.
Butler Su watched Ming Yu’s retreating figure, his brow furrowed with unease.
He quickly stepped aside, pulled out his communicator, and dialed Old Lady Ming’s number.
“Madam, something’s wrong. The General seems to have entered a stress-induced state again,” Butler Su said, a note of urgency in his voice. “Her current condition, it’s very similar to how she was when we first found her after her memory loss.”
There was a brief silence on the other end of the communicator before Old Lady Ming’s voice came through, “I understand. Keep an eye on her for now. I’ll do my best to figure out what’s going on.”
After hanging up, Butler Su turned and walked toward the living room, quietly observing Ming Yu.
Ming Yu was sitting on the carpet with Song Song, playing happily.
Song Song held a toy in her hand and looked at Ming Yu curiously. “Mommy, you seem a little different today.”
‘Meng Meng’ blinked and smiled, asking, “How am I different? Does Song Song not like Mommy like this?”
Song Song tilted her head thoughtfully, then broke into a happy grin. “I do! Mommy is extra gentle today and has been playing with me for so long!”
‘Meng Meng’ replied affectionately, “Then from now on, Mommy will play with you every day, okay?”
Song Song nodded excitedly, and the two continued to play, their laughter filling the living room.
Song Qingpei stood to the side, watching the scene with mixed emotions.
Butler Su approached her and asked quietly, “Miss Song, what’s going on with the General?”
Song Qingpei shook her head, her tone tinged with helplessness. “She said she’s been under a lot of pressure lately and her mental state is a bit unstable. I’ll take good care of her, so you don’t need to worry.”
Steward Su nodded. Although doubts still lingered in his mind, he felt it wasn’t appropriate to press further. He stepped aside and quietly observed Mingyu’s every move.
After a while, Song Qingpei glanced at the time and softly said to Song Song, “Song Song, it’s time for your bath and bedtime.”
Song Song pouted reluctantly. “Mommy, just a little longer, please!”
Mengmeng also looked at Song Qingpei with pleading eyes. “Sister, let Song Song play a little longer, okay?”
Seeing their identical expressions, Song Qingpei felt another wave of helplessness. She crouched down and gently patted Song Song’s head. “Song Song, be good. You can play again tomorrow, alright?”
Song Song looked at Song Qingpei, then at Mengmeng, and finally nodded. “Okay.”
Song Qingpei took Song Song’s hand and led her upstairs for her bath.
Mengmeng remained seated where she was, gazing wistfully at their retreating figures, a flicker of disappointment in her eyes.
When Song Qingpei returned to the living room after putting Song Song to bed, she found Mengmeng still sitting in the same spot, clutching a pillow with her head lowered, looking utterly dejected.
Song Qingpei walked over and asked softly, “Mengmeng, why haven’t you gone to rest yet?”
Mengmeng lifted her head, her eyes brimming with tears, her voice trembling slightly. “Sister, are you going to see that woman who’s trying to seduce you again tomorrow?”
“Mengmeng, it’s not polite to speak like that,” Song Qingpei explained helplessly. “Murong Ruixue and I are just colleagues. Don’t overthink it.”
But Mengmeng shook her head, refusing to let it go. “Then promise me you won’t pay attention to her anymore, okay?”
Song Qingpei was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure how to respond.
However, Mengmeng’s tears began to fall like broken pearls, one after another, tugging at Song Qingpei’s heart.
“Mengmeng, please don’t cry!” Song Qingpei’s voice was filled with helplessness and concern.
But Mengmeng seemed unable to hear her, still tightly gripping Song Qingpei’s hand, pleading pitifully, “Sister, promise me, okay? Don’t pay attention to her anymore, please?”
At her wit’s end, Song Qingpei leaned in and silenced Mengmeng’s incessant pleas with a kiss.
Mengmeng’s body stiffened for a moment before melting into the embrace.
Song Qingpei’s kiss was gentle and lingering, meant to soothe. Her fingers softly brushed Mengmeng’s cheeks, wiping away the tears.
Mengmeng wrapped her arms around Song Qingpei’s neck, responding with fervor. As the kiss deepened, she trembled and whispered, “Sister, don’t leave me.”
Song Qingpei’s lips brushed against her ear, her voice low and tender. “I won’t leave you, Mengmeng.”
They knew each other too well like dry tinder meeting a spark, a single kiss was enough to ignite their passion.
The rich scent of pheromones filled the room, gently enveloping their entwined bodies.
