The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 9
Bo Zhoucheng thought for a moment, then divided the half of the orange she had kept for herself and handed a portion to Zheng Ya. However, her tone remained cold and stiff.
“Want to try it?”
“Thank you, Teacher Bo!”
Zheng Ya accepted it with a mix of trepidation and gratitude. She had originally joined this variety show because there weren’t many dramas for her to act in, but she never expected to run into these two. It was truly an unexpected delight.
Xu Youyan lowered her head and looked at her own full half of the orange.
What should she do? She still felt that this person was being too biased.
After the gathering ended, everyone returned to their rooms. Xu Youyan stared at the camera, thinking to herself, “What if my sleeping posture is terrible and gets caught on camera?”
Bo Zhoucheng glanced up and noticed Xu Youyan staring at the camera. She took off her jacket and unceremoniously draped it over the camera.
“That should do it.”
Bo Zhoucheng lazily lay down on the bed, crossing her legs. Everyone feared being criticized by the media for acting like a diva, but Bo Zhoucheng was never afraid she had the capital to back it up.
“Thank you.”
Xu Youyan slipped back under the covers. Bo Zhoucheng was also ready to sleep, but since the bed wasn’t as small as the tent, the two of them weren’t pressed against each other.
“Yanyan, why are you so far away from me?”
Bo Zhoucheng was a bit puzzled. Just last night, she had ended up snuggling into her arms while sleeping.
“I’m sleeping, what else would I be doing?”
Xu Youyan’s voice was soft, already drifting into drowsiness. The day had completely exhausted her. Who knew filming would go so late? She even had to be dragged away for a post-interview, where she was asked to talk about her feelings during the date.
What feelings did Xu Youyan have? All she remembered was that the steak was so delicious she overate and might gain weight. Next time, she’d have to eat less.
Otherwise, someone would mock her for getting chubby again.
Bo Zhoucheng moved closer, carefully resting her wrist on the other’s waist.
“I feel like you’ve changed.”
Hearing those words, Xu Youyan’s breath hitched for a moment, afraid she might give herself away. But then she thought, what if she did? Even if the lab people came to capture her, a DNA test would still confirm she was Xu Youyan.
She hadn’t changed into someone else at all.
Xu Youyan turned her head, pinched the other’s cheek, her eyes filled with defiance.
“You’ve changed too, Bo Zhoucheng. You never used to talk this much before.”
“Whenever you saw me on set, you’d just give me a cold glance. Even though you saved me, don’t expect me to kneel on the ground and thank you profusely!”
“Which set did I ever give you a cold look on?”
Bo Zhoucheng felt wronged, thinking back carefully there had never been such a thing.
“Every single one.”
Their memories didn’t align, no wonder such misunderstandings arose.
“I’m sorry, you know how I am this is just my personality.”
Bo Zhoucheng held her close.
The moment Xu Youyan was touched, for some reason, her body went weak, craving the other’s touch.
As if it had happened countless times before.
“Don’t get so close.”
Xu Youyan couldn’t quite handle it. Bo Zhoucheng didn’t let go, her dark eyes gleaming under the night light like a top predator staring at its prey.
“If you change your heart, Yanyan, I won’t let you go.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s fingertips brushed against the other’s chin, gazing at her light tea-colored hair. She lowered her head, her lips brushing past the strands.
“You were the one who started it.”
“You were the one who seduced me into liking you. If you try to break up or run away.”
Xu Youyan grew more and more alarmed as she listened, yet she felt that only in this moment did Bo Zhoucheng truly resemble her original self aloof, as if looking down upon all living beings.
But before she could finish speaking, her mouth was covered. Xu Youyan turned her head away, her eyes glistening with tears, a hint of fear in them, her heart racing wildly.
“I didn’t say I wanted to break up.”
Only then did Bo Zhoucheng realize she had probably frightened her and immediately let go.
“Sorry.”
Xu Youyan didn’t respond, but in her heart, she wondered why she would fall in love with this person five years later. Even if Bo Zhoucheng had saved her life, it shouldn’t have come to this such intense possessiveness.
Xu Youyan was genuinely afraid she might see herself and Bo Zhoucheng featured on a true crime show.
Today was the final day of filming for the show. After wrapping up, they wouldn’t resume filming for another month.
Xu Youyan had just finished shooting a drama and was in the process of selecting her next project, not yet in a hurry to join a new crew.
However, Bo Zhoucheng’s close friend was directing a series, and she needed to make a guest appearance as a favor. So, she had been spending her free time lately studying the script.
Today’s shoot was outdoors, requiring them to go out on the streets with the other guests. When they drew lots, the two of them weren’t paired together.
When Bo Zhoucheng drew the lot and ended up in a group with a male guest, Xu Youyan could have sworn she saw the veins on Bo Zhoucheng’s hand bulge a clear sign of suppressed anger.
“Take good care of yourself. When they parted, Bo Zhoucheng patiently straightened Xu Youyan’s collar, completely ignoring the director’s urging.
“If that man dares to lay a hand on you, just give him the cold shoulder. I’ll make sure the production team cuts that part out.”
Bo Zhoucheng spoke with the tone of a CEO, and in truth, she had the power to do so. Because of her striking looks, more than one or two directors had tried to take advantage of her, but every one of them ended up exposed in scandals and forced out of the industry.
“Alright, I get it.”
Xu Youyan nodded, her tone slightly impatient. She wasn’t a fool, how could she let someone like Mo Tian hold her hand? Forget about Bo Zhoucheng exploding, even her own fans would be outraged.
The fact that Xu Youyan had joined a dating show on short notice was already enough to make her fans lose their minds.
“And Cheng Zhun is there too.”
Bo Zhoucheng nodded, then reluctantly walked away, glancing back every few steps.
For some reason, she recalled the moment she first fell in love. Back then, she lay unconscious in the hospital, and Xu Youyan stayed by her side for several days.
The Bo family came and went, but no one blamed Xu Youyan they were only concerned about their daughter’s injuries.
When Bo Zhoucheng opened her eyes, she saw a teary-eyed figure, tears clinging to her lashes, her nose red.
In that moment, her heart was tugged.
Truly, a beauty’s tears evoke pity in all who see them.
“You’re awake.”
Xu Youyan’s voice trembled, devoid of the disdain she once held for Bo Zhoucheng, her eyes filled with regret, heartache, and relief.
“Mm.”
Bo Zhoucheng remained as aloof as ever, but the next moment, her hand was gently cradled, held tightly by Xu Youyan.
“I thought you hated me too.”
“You’re not a bad person. In that situation, saving you would have, at most, injured my arm. But if I hadn’t saved you, you would have died.”
Bo Zhoucheng analyzed the situation calmly.
“But, how can I repay you?”
Bo Zhoucheng had never thought about repayment; she simply felt it would be a pity if such a beautiful vase were shattered.
“Be good to yourself. Don’t let yourself fall into despair. Xia Qian’s death wasn’t your fault. She was already emotionally unstable, and the director recast her role taking that into consideration.”
Xu Youyan had experienced being cyberbullied by the entire internet. It all started when she competed with her former teammate Xia Qian for a role. The director had initially chosen Xia Qian, and even the official character photos had been taken.
But then, out of the blue, the role was given to Xu Youyan. No one expected that right after Xu Youyan had finished retaking her character photos, Xia Qian would be rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. In the end, she couldn’t be saved.
In an instant, the internet was flooded with hateful comments targeting Xu Youyan.
Some people even went to her hometown, smashed the windows of her family home, and her father was attacked in the middle of the night, leaving him covered in bruises.
