The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 7
As the night deepened, the temperature plummeted sharply. Despite being inside a sleeping bag, Xu Youyan still felt a chill, so she instinctively turned over and wrapped her arms around Bo Zhoucheng’s warm waist.
Bo Zhoucheng simply chuckled softly, thinking that her strategy from the day had worked, Xu Youyan was willing to get close to her.
She let the other woman nestle beside her, feeling an overwhelming sense of peace. Youyan was still the same clingy Youyan she had always known.
Lowering her head, she gazed at Xu Youyan’s tightly shut eyes.
Without makeup, Xu Youyan’s features appeared pure and delicate. Bo Zhoucheng couldn’t resist reaching out a finger, letting it rest gently on the other’s soft lips.
Bo Zhoucheng had always been indifferent to the outside world, often wearing a stern expression. Her agent had even thought she would never participate in a variety show in her lifetime.
But in the end, she had made an exception for one person.
Unable to resist the urge, Bo Zhoucheng leaned closer, her mind wandering to mischievous thoughts. She reminded herself that it wasn’t appropriate, there were still cameras around.
So she simply watched quietly, but her resolve wavered. She hooked her finger around the pile of clothes beside her and gave a light tug. The stacked clothes tumbled down, covering both their heads.
Seizing the opportunity, Bo Zhoucheng leaned in. Xu Youyan was sound asleep, dreaming of a stunning beauty approaching her. The woman wore fiery red robes, with a golden bell hanging from her waist that chimed crisply with each step.
This was one of Bo Zhoucheng’s iconic film roles. Though her screen time was limited, she had captivated the male lead, driving him to obsession and madness.
Lips met lips.
Xu Youyan found herself lost in the sensation, but gradually, her breathing grew faint, as if she were being smothered.
Unable to catch her breath, she opened her eyes.
Bo Zhoucheng had already pulled away.
Xu Youyan pushed the clothes aside and looked at the awake Bo Zhoucheng, feeling a bit embarrassed. She had just dreamed of her and it was such an indescribable dream.
“How did the clothes fall?” Xu Youyan awkwardly averted her gaze.
Bo Zhoucheng simply smiled. “I did it.”
She openly admitted her “crime,” then gently pressed her thumb against Xu Youyan’s lips. “Youyan, when did you become so proactive?”
Xu Youyan’s intense response had taken Bo Zhoucheng by surprise.
Seeing her reaction, Xu Youyan belatedly realized it hadn’t been a dream. Her face flushed crimson with embarrassment, and she wished she could roll herself up in the blanket and flee. Unfortunately, the double sleeping bag didn’t offer that functionality.
“I wasn’t.” But her words were nothing more than a feeble excuse, born of guilt.
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t press the matter and instead moved closer. “If you’re cold, hold me tighter.”
Though Xu Youyan felt somewhat resistant emotionally, she couldn’t escape the “truth in fragrance” principle. She pressed her face against Bo Zhoucheng’s neck, treating her like a personal heater.
“Thank you,” Xu Youyan murmured, the words feeling unfamiliar on her lips.
In the past, she had been too preoccupied with disliking Bo Zhoucheng to notice how kind she could be.
As Xu Youyan thought this, she completely overlooked how cold and aloof Bo Zhoucheng had been toward others during the day’s filming. It wouldn’t be long before rumors of Bo Zhoucheng’s diva behavior spread like wildfire again.
“You’re welcome,” Bo Zhoucheng replied cheerfully, accepting the gratitude.
Her arm gently encircled the other’s slender waist, Bo Zhoucheng reminded herself to endure they were filming a show, after all, and it wasn’t appropriate to be overly intimate.
The next day, strong winds blew as the group boarded the RV. The director was changing locations again, this time to a guesthouse.
A common trope in dating shows was writing notes about who you liked.
Xu Youyan scanned the room. There were either fresh-faced newcomers or ordinary people none of whom she wanted to choose. After much hesitation, she still ended up picking Bo Zhoucheng.
Who would have thought, who would have thought that one day she would have to write Bo Zhoucheng’s name under the line “the person I like”?
Xu Youyan shed a tear of humiliation.
When the host took the box, he smiled mysteriously, gripping the microphone and skillfully building up the audience’s anticipation.
“Next, we’ll tally the votes.”
Xu Youyan received three votes, while Bo Zhoucheng got four. With only ten people in the game, aside from the two of them, only three others had chosen someone else.
Xu Youyan wasn’t surprised by the results. After all, she and Bo Zhoucheng were A-list celebrities, practically household names, so it was only natural that most would choose them first.
When the reveal began, Bo Zhoucheng seemed distracted, her gaze unfocused a clear sign she was zoning out. That is, until the host announced Xu Youyan’s voters. Both she and Mo Tian immediately straightened up, with Mo Tian even adjusting his bowtie.
The first voter was a female newcomer in the entertainment industry who chose Xu Youyan out of admiration. Bo Zhoucheng paid her no mind, focusing her attention instead on Mo Tian.
That gaudy gold Rolex of his was so tacky. Bo Zhoucheng frowned, not wanting her Youyan to spare even a glance for someone like him.
When the host announced the second voter, Mo Tian stood up and greeted Xu Youyan with a smile.
“Youyan, I chose you.”
Xu Youyan could only offer an awkward smile in return. Before she could say anything more, Bo Zhoucheng leaned closer.
“Youyan, I chose you too.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the host announced the results. Everyone pretended to be surprised, though they all knew the truth deep down.
Anyone even slightly familiar with the industry knew that Bo Zhoucheng and Xu Youyan had something going on. They were practically inseparable sometimes even filming in the same studio.
The moment Xu Youyan changed out of her costume, even before removing her makeup, she would dash straight into Bo Zhoucheng’s arms.
The crew had witnessed this countless times, but out of fear of Bo Zhoucheng’s family background, few dared to speak of it.
So the secret was well kept until Bo Zhoucheng decided to go public.
“Are you a child? Do you have to compete with them?”
Xu Youyan leaned in as well, covering her microphone. Some things really shouldn’t be recorded for the show.
“Yes.”
“You’re not allowed to pay attention to that man. The way he looks at you is just too lewd.”
Bo Zhoucheng reached out and held Xu Youyan’s hand. Her fingers were soft, her palms smooth and unblemished she had never done manual labor and didn’t even carry heavy props while acting.
Bo Zhoucheng adored that feeling, wishing she could hold her hand for hours every time. Unfortunately…
They couldn’t be so unrestrained on the show.
“I know.”
Xu Youyan nodded.
But inwardly, she sighed. So it wasn’t that Bo Zhoucheng had a bad temper—it was just that, back then, she hadn’t been someone special to her.
After the votes were announced, the person with the highest number of votes had the right to choose anyone for a date. Bo Zhoucheng, of course, unhesitatingly chose Xu Youyan.
She had joined this dating show simply to give her fans a heads-up.
Otherwise, announcing their marriage directly would have been far too abrupt.
At first, Bo Zhoucheng could pretend, but halfway through, she realized she couldn’t keep up the act.
If the production team had let her choose the location for the date, she would have undoubtedly picked the most luxurious hotel.
Because Bo Zhoucheng hadn’t savored Xu Youyan in a long time.
