The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 38
A faint, sweet fragrance lingered in the air, intoxicating and irresistible, like savoring a slice of sweet mandarin.
The fruity sweetness wasn’t overpowering just perfect.
It made one crave more and more.
Bo Zhoucheng was gently pushed away as Xu Youyan took two deep breaths.
“My lungs can’t take it.”
She didn’t complain about Bo Zhoucheng’s less-than-ladylike behavior, merely wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
“Sorry, I’ll be more careful next time.”
Bo Zhoucheng patted Xu Youyan’s back, her eyes lowered. She had been too carried away by joy, forgetting Yan Yan’s feelings. Next time, she would pay closer attention.
The two stepped out of the car, and the crew members avoided making direct eye contact. Bo Zhoucheng had returned in a hurry today and hadn’t had time for makeup. She simply ran through her lines with a few supporting actors, preparing to shoot her scenes the next day.
Xu Youyan had filmed a camel-riding scene earlier and found it quite amusing. A bronze bell hung from the camel’s neck, tinkling softly as the animal lifted its hooves, the crisp sound carried by the wind.
Bo Zhoucheng snapped a few photos with her phone, unable to put it down. Suddenly remembering the photo album her mother had asked her to bring, she turned her head.
“Su Cha, could you please bring the photo album over?”
Su Cha didn’t dare ask questions and nodded before hurrying off.
After finishing her scene, Xu Youyan felt soreness in her rear. Sure, riding a camel was exhilarating, but the jostling was more than an average person could handle. Her calves trembled as she dismounted.
“Youyan, why not ask Actress Bo to massage them for you?”
Cheng Zhun supported Xu Youyan as he spoke. As a male assistant, there were limits to how hands-on he could be. When the company assigned him to Xu Youyan, they had considered that a man’s strength could be useful for fending off overzealous fans.
“I know.”
Xu Youyan nodded, then suddenly sensed something off.
“How did you know she’d massage my legs?”
Their most intimate moments always happened in private. Logically, the assistants shouldn’t have witnessed such things.
“It’s been years, how could I not know about your dynamic? Youyan, doesn’t Bo Zhoucheng listen to you in private? If you tell her to go east, she’d never dare go west.”
Cheng Zhun whispered, leaving Xu Youyan stunned.
Though she knew Bo Zhoucheng treated her well, she never imagined it was to this extent. After all, they were just dating, not bound by some master-servant contract. It sounded absurd.
Just as they finished speaking, Bo Zhoucheng approached. She wore sand guards over her shoes to prevent the desert sand from seeping in.
But,
Xu Youyan wasn’t as fortunate. Despite wearing long boots as part of her costume, sand had still managed to creep inside, irritating the tender soles of her feet. While riding the camel, she hadn’t noticed, but after taking a few steps, it felt as if the sand was grinding her skin raw.
After only a few steps, Xu Youyan’s brow furrowed slightly.
The discomfort in her feet was unbearable.
“What’s wrong?”
Bo Zhoucheng, ever attentive, immediately noticed her partner’s distress and turned to ask with gentle patience.
“There’s sand in my shoes.”
“Oh.”
“That’s normal.”
However, Xu Youyan hadn’t expected Bo Zhoucheng to react so indifferently. A flicker of dissatisfaction rose within her.
She pressed her lips together.
“You don’t even know how to show a little concern”
Before she could finish her sentence, Bo Zhoucheng crouched down. The red sand-proof shoe covers sank into the yellow sand, making the scene look somewhat comical.
“I’ll carry you on my back.”
Xu Youyan’s ears turned red with embarrassment, feeling ashamed of the words she had just been about to blame the other for.
“Why aren’t you getting on?”
Bo Zhoucheng was puzzled. Why hadn’t Xu Youyan jumped onto her back? This wasn’t like Youyan’s usual behavior.
“Coming.”
Xu Youyan reached out, wrapping her arms around the other’s neck. With a slight exertion of her arms, Bo Zhoucheng lifted her up and began walking slowly through the sand.
“You really don’t have to carry me.”
Perhaps she could have ridden a camel down the slope, but that would have made her waist ache even more.
“It’s just a few steps, it’s nothing.”
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t stop walking. Xu Youyan, lying on her back, felt a sense of security for the first time, as if Bo Zhoucheng could hold up the sky even if it fell.
But the other was a woman just like her, soft and vulnerable she shouldn’t have to bear so much.
“If you get tired, just tell me. I can walk on my own.”
Xu Youyan leaned in close, speaking softly by Bo Zhoucheng’s ear.
“I’m not tired.”
A few steps like these were nothing to Bo Zhoucheng. For an actor striving for fame, the hardships endured were far greater than this.
Carrying someone was nothing.
When they returned to the RV, Bo Zhoucheng set her down on a chair, then crouched again, patiently helping Xu Youyan take off her boots.
Sure enough, Xu Youyan’s feet were covered in sand, clinging to her bear-patterned socks. Bo Zhoucheng gently brushed it off.
Only then did she fetch Xu Youyan’s own shoes.
“I’ll put them on myself.”
Seeing that Bo Zhoucheng was about to help her with the shoes as well, Xu Youyan quickly reached out to take them.
Her eyes held a hint of embarrassment, she wasn’t a child who needed help with something as simple as putting on shoes.
“Alright.”
Bo Zhoucheng stood up and tidied herself up briefly.
With that, everyone began packing up, preparing to head back. Not far from there was a hotel.
Originally meant for tourists, it had been booked by the film crew.
Since the crew was large and the rooms were limited, two or three people had to share one room.
As the lead actress, Xu Youyan naturally received special treatment and was assigned the best room.
But she felt it was a bit wasteful.
“You’re sharing a room with four people?”
As Cheng Zhun was about to head off to rest, Xu Youyan was taken aback. She hadn’t expected the crew to arrange for so many people to share one room.
“Of course, the RVs are all full.”
Cheng Zhun spoke honestly.
“The main actors all have their own rooms, and the director and assistant director have their own rooms too. The rest of us have to squeeze in together.”
Xu Youyan hesitated for a moment before calling out to Cheng Zhun.
“Then you can stay in my room.”
Cheng Zhun immediately shook his head upon hearing this.
“How could that be? That’s not acceptable!”
If he really did that, it would be overstepping his bounds.
“It’s fine.”
“I’ll stay with Bo Zhoucheng.”
Xu Youyan smiled, pulled out the pajamas she wanted to change into, and walked straight over to the neighboring room.
Bo Zhoucheng’s room was right next to hers. After knocking a few times, the door opened.
“What is it?”
Bo Zhoucheng had assumed it was a crew member and sounded slightly impatient. But when she looked up and saw it was Xu Youyan, she froze completely.
Her hair was slightly damp, clearly having just taken a shower, and she carried the faint scent of moisture.
“Youyan, why are you.”
Normally, after a full day of filming, Xu Youyan would have been too exhausted to move.
She should have been sprawled out on the bed by now. Bo Zhouhuan had even planned to massage her sore muscles after drying her hair.
Then, it would have been perfectly natural for her to stay in Yan Yan’s bed.
