The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 37
The restaurant’s lighting was dim and suggestive, with a bouquet of flowers placed in a glass vase. Waiters dressed in elegant tailcoats served exquisite French dishes to the tables.
“It’s rare for you to invite me out.”
Zhou Lianghui was dressed very formally in a suit and leather shoes, but Bo Zhoucheng was dressed more casually. To avoid being photographed, she had worn a mask when she arrived.
She took off the mask.
“There’s something I want to say to you.”
“But I felt that if I said it over the phone, you wouldn’t take it seriously, so it’s best to say it to your face.”
Zhou Lianghui’s hand, holding the fork, paused. He could almost guess what harsh words his childhood friend was about to say.
His furrowed brows relaxed.
“Zhoucheng, can we not talk about this?”
Bo Zhoucheng shook her head.
“I need to give Yanyan a sense of security.”
“So please don’t say those strange things in front of her anymore.”
Bo Zhoucheng had no appetite for the food on the table and was about to say more when Zhou Lianghui threw his fork directly onto the table, producing a sharp clatter.
If this weren’t a private room, many people would have turned to look.
“So, for the sake of a woman, you’re disregarding all the years of friendship we’ve shared?”
Zhou Lianghui couldn’t believe it. The two had grown up together, attended the same schools, and although Bo Zhoucheng had impulsively chosen to go to acting school in the end, Zhou Lianghui had never cut off contact.
“No.”
Bo Zhoucheng shook her head.
“It’s because I love her that, after careful consideration, I’ve decided to let go of this friendship of ours that’s on the verge of turning into something else.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was gentle, yet it carried a hint of ruthlessness, like a pile of firewood in a snowstorm, offering no warmth at all.
“This meal is on me.”
Bo Zhoucheng stood up, not intending to continue the meal. After all, she had said all she needed to say.
She left Zhou Lianghui slumped dejectedly in his chair.
Bo Zhoucheng’s visit to her father was squeezed out of her tight schedule, so after staying for two extra days, she had to prepare to return to the desert and Gobi.
After packing her luggage simply, she planned to leave with Su Cha.
“Wait.”
Her mother’s urgent voice came from behind. Bo Zhoucheng turned around, and a photo album was thrust into her arms.
“Didn’t you tell us you want to marry Yanyan?”
Hearing her mother blurt out such words so openly, even Bo Zhoucheng’s usually icy expression cracked slightly.
“Mom, my assistant is here.”
Bo Zhoucheng coughed lightly.
“What’s there to be embarrassed about? This is your childhood photo album. Show it to her.”
“Before getting married, it’s best to know each other inside and out.”
Her mother gently patted the back of Bo Zhoucheng’s hand. Bo Zhoucheng nodded, handed the album to her assistant, and stepped out of the villa door.
Truthfully, revealing her childhood photos to someone else was still a bit embarrassing. But when she thought about that person being Xu Youyan, the embarrassment seemed to fade.
The desert and Gobi were constantly swept by yellow sand. People here found it uncomfortable without wearing headscarves, and Xu Youyan had also wrapped a scarf around her head as she watched the crew painstakingly set up the scene.
Just to capture one or two panoramic shots, they were expending so much manpower and resources.
Yet, this was part of the charm of filmmaking. No matter how good the special effects or studio sets were, they couldn’t compare to shooting on location.
Xu Youyan held a cup of hot tea and blew on it gently. In such a place, the skin dried out far too easily.
Just then, footsteps sounded from behind.
But the sound was drowned out by the wind, and Xu Youyan didn’t notice. Suddenly, a pair of slightly cool hands covered her eyes.
“Guess who I am?”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was cool and distinctive. Xu Youyan didn’t need to guess to know who it was. She leaned back slightly, reaching out to grasp the person’s wrist. Her fingertips gently traced upward along the knuckles, causing a faint, ticklish sensation, like ants crawling across the skin of her hand.
“These fingers are very long.”
Xu Youyan commented as she continued to touch them.
Bo Zhoucheng hadn’t expected Xu Youyan to be bolder than usual, daring to tease her in broad daylight.
“And very cold.”
“They’re well-maintained.”
Xu Youyan continued her commentary.
Bo Zhoucheng finally couldn’t take it anymore and lowered her head.
“Alright, alright, it’s me.”
“I won’t tease you anymore.”
She withdrew her hand. Xu Youyan blinked twice, her deep black eyes sparkling like obsidian, carrying a clear, loving gaze.
“I knew it was you all along.”
Xu Youyan’s lips curled slightly with a hint of pride.
After saying this, she stood up, not caring whether there were staff around, and immediately embraced Bo Zhoucheng.
“I missed you so much.”
Xu Youyan was that kind of person passionate and fiery, like a warm flame enveloping those around her. When she truly liked someone, she would express her affection without restraint.
“There are people around.”
Yanyan was still the same as before, hugging her openly regardless of who might be watching.
Bo Zhoucheng hugged Xu Youyan back.
Glancing at the nearby RV, which likely had a rest area inside, Bo Zhoucheng led her into the vehicle, shutting out the noise and the wind outside.
“Alright, now you can say whatever you want.”
It wasn’t that Bo Zhoucheng liked hiding their relationship, but film crews were the most prone to leaks. So, to be cautious, they had to keep their more intimate conversations private.
“If I had something to say, I would’ve said it already.”
Xu Youyan sat on the chair, though she still had other plans in mind. Even at thirty, her heart remained that of a twenty-year-old. So, she extended her index finger and lightly beckoned twice, as if calling a puppy.
“Bo Zhoucheng, come here.”
Bo Zhoucheng was momentarily stunned, not expecting to be summoned like a dog, but she let out a helpless laugh and walked over.
“What is it?”
She crouched down, looking up at Xu Youyan.
“What should long-lost lovers do when they reunite?”
Xu Youyan leaned in abruptly, whispering in a seductive tone by her ear.
“Just like in your movie, like the sea dancer.”
In Sea Dancer, the male and female leads were separated lovers. The male lead, as the captain’s assistant, reunited with his long-lost girlfriend in a restaurant. However, it was a very innocent film the male lead wanted to kiss the female lead but was rejected.
“Is that so? But Gu Wen was rejected by me.”
Bo Zhoucheng laughed. Gu Wen was the male lead in the movie.
“But, Yanyan.”
Bo Zhoucheng leaned in closer, placing her hands on either side of the chair’s armrests, her voice growing softer.
“I would never reject you.”
Her right thumb pressed against the other’s chin, lifting it slightly.
“I would take the initiative.”
“Fall into your trap.”
After saying this, she lowered her head.
Xu Youyan wrapped her arms around the other’s waist, a triumphant smile in her eyes.
Back when I watched that movie, many fans were disappointed that the male and female leads didn’t end up together.
Xu Youyan, who was deeply engrossed at the time, had similar thoughts.
But now,
Her mindset was completely different.
Bo Zhoucheng could only be hers, only hers.
Her fingers tightly clutching her clothes, Xu Youyan closed her eyes and began to respond slowly.
