The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 35
A slender, cold-jade-like hand tightly held another hand as the two stepped into the elevator. Though they remained silent, the ambiguous atmosphere surrounding them felt distinctly different.
Bo Zhoucheng led the person all the way into her father’s hospital room.
“Cheng Zhun went to buy some fruit,” Xu Youyan whispered as a reminder, implying that she should have waited a little longer before coming in at least with a gift in hand.
“Don’t worry about him.”
“My dad can’t eat much fruit anyway.”
“He’s having stomach issues lately, he can only have porridge.”
Bo Zhoucheng reached out and poked Xu Youyan’s forehead lightly.
Their conversation had already caught the attention of the man lying in the hospital bed. He coughed softly, forcing Bo Zhoucheng to acknowledge him.
“Dad, it’s so late you should rest properly.”
But Mr. Bo paid her no mind, his gaze fixed solely on Xu Youyan. There was one thing he had to admit: his daughter had good taste.
Xu Youyan’s most striking feature was her face. To remain popular as a “vase” actress for so long, she truly possessed a certain innate talent and quality in terms of beauty.
“Thank you for coming to see Zhoucheng.”
Mr. Bo’s voice was relatively gentle. Although he had initially struggled to accept the fact that his daughter had chosen a woman after all, Zhou Lianghui had always been his ideal son-in-law candidate there was nothing he could do. Bo Zhoucheng’s happiness came first.
“No, Uncle, I came to see you.”
Xu Youyan shook her head, walking closer to look at the man. His complexion was no longer as pale as before.
“Heh, heh, heh.”
The man chuckled softly, though his eyes held a complex expression.
“Do you really think I don’t know who you came to see?”
Xu Youyan hadn’t expected Mr. Bo to see right through her. Her toes curled slightly in her shoes, and her ears flushed a deep red.
“Go on back. Go see your mother.”
Mr. Bo turned his head and said this to Bo Zhoucheng. She had originally planned to stay overnight, but her resolve softened slightly.
Before leaving, she instructed the caregiver to take good care of her father, and then they departed.
The car ride was smooth all the way. It was the Bo family’s chauffeur driving. Xu Youyan had been on a plane for several hours without any chance to rest, and now her eyelids began to droop.
“Tired?”
Bo Zhoucheng leaned closer. Without asking further, she reached out and gently guided Xu Youyan’s head to rest on her shoulder, offering a comfortable pillow for her to sleep on.
“Mm.”
Xu Youyan nodded.
“Was it irrational of me to come find you?”
After all, her schedule was packed, but in a moment of impulsiveness, she had acted on her desire to see Bo Zhoucheng without considering the consequences.
“No.”
“Even if you were late, I would explain it to the director.”
Bo Zhoucheng gently held Xu Youyan’s hand, savoring its softness.
“If you missed me, you could’ve just said so. Why be so shy about it?”
Xu Youyan’s ears turned red again. Too tired to respond, she buried her face in Bo Zhoucheng’s neck and fell asleep.
After about ten minutes, the car arrived at the Bo residence. Located in an affluent neighborhood, the Bo family owned a standalone villa surrounded by a fence draped in creeping vines.
The iron gate swung open, and the driver pulled in.
Most of the lights inside the house were already off it seemed Bo Zhoucheng’s mother had gone to bed early.
Bo Zhoucheng led the way to her room. Xu Youyan looked around, taking it all in. Although she had been a celebrity for many years and earned a decent amount of money, she had never purchased a villa like this so luxurious, extravagant, yet elegantly classic.
The vase in the corner was clearly an antique. Xu Youyan looked it up and down, her eyes filled with curiosity.
“Yanyan, do you like it?”
Seeing that she had stopped walking, Bo Zhoucheng hugged her from behind.
“What are you doing? You scared me.”
“No matter how beautiful it is, you can’t keep looking. You need to go back and sleep.”
Bo Zhoucheng had grown up surrounded by antiques and was used to them, so she didn’t feel much about them. What she cared about more was Xu Youyan’s health.
“Oh, right.”
Xu Youyan nodded.
Then she hesitated a bit. It wasn’t until they went upstairs and entered Bo Zhoucheng’s room that she spoke again.
“Then let’s hurry. I still have to go back.”
Bo Zhoucheng blinked, looking a bit confused.
“Hurry with what?”
“What do you think.”
Xu Youyan was getting annoyed. She gently pinched the other’s fingers but didn’t say anything more.
Bo Zhoucheng instantly understood.
“But you’re already so tired.”
Although she was eager, she wasn’t the type to disregard her partner’s well-being.
“I’ve been even more exhausted while filming. Besides, I have to catch a flight later and return to the set tomorrow.”
“What kind of impression does it give when both leads of a movie are absent from the set?”
Xu Youyan poked Bo Zhoucheng’s cheek, feeling that this person didn’t quite grasp what she meant by “squeezing out time.”
“It’s fine, I’ll talk to the director.”
“The crew is just worried about funding.”
A Thousand Faces of Gu was produced by the Bo family, and Bo Zhoucheng could be considered the biggest investor behind the scenes. She could do as she pleased, and no one would dare say a word.
“And you.”
Bo Zhoucheng pulled her into the bathroom.
“Get some proper rest.”
“Don’t overwork yourself. You’re thirty now, and just a few months ago you were talking about taking care of your health.”
Bo Zhoucheng closed the bathroom door, leaving Xu Youyan standing there in a daze.
She felt there was something off about the other’s words, and it took her a while to realize what it was.
How dare she mention that I’m thirty! Doesn’t she know that bringing up a woman’s age is taboo?
Bo Zhoucheng’s room was decorated in cool tones, with gray and white colors. There were no decorations, only a bookshelf holding some Taoist and Buddhist scriptures meant to calm the mind.
After Xu Youyan finished her shower, she felt as if her exhaustion had been washed away along with the shower gel.
Bo Zhoucheng had already showered in the VIP hospital room’s lounge. She had originally planned to stay with her father all night, but because Xu Youyan showed up unexpectedly, she changed her plans at the last minute.
“Come here, let me dry your hair.”
Xu Youyan obediently sat down, and Bo Zhoucheng patiently dried her long hair. The hum of the hairdryer filled the air around them.
Xu Youyan was on the verge of falling asleep but forced herself to stay awake.
“I came here today to find you.”
But she barely had the energy to speak. Bo Zhoucheng set the hairdryer aside, placed her hands on the blanket, and looked at Xu Youyan with a mix of helplessness and affection.
“You’re this tired and still thinking about that?”
“Of course, otherwise why would I come find you?”
Xu Youyan lifted her arms to wrap them around Bo Zhoucheng’s neck, her fingertips tracing the shape of the other’s lips. Just as she found the right spot and was about to lean in, she was so exhausted that her head tilted to the side.
“Alright.”
“Let’s sleep.”
Bo Zhoucheng almost laughed out loud but managed to suppress her smile after a long struggle.
There was only one pillow on Bo Zhoucheng’s bed, but it was just enough for the two of them to share.
She turned off the bedroom light, leaving only a dim night lamp glowing. Bo Zhoucheng embraced the person once more, gently patting their back in a soothing rhythm.
Listening to Xu Youyan’s steady breathing, she finally lowered her head.
Her soft, slightly cool lips pressed against the other’s forehead.
“Goodnight, Yanyan.”
