The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 34
The bedside table in the hospital room was covered with fresh flowers, filling the room with a faint floral fragrance. Bo Zhoucheng pushed the door open and entered. The man lying on the hospital bed looked somewhat pale.
“Weren’t you doing fine when we video-called the other day?”
Bo Zhoucheng sat down on a chair, her brow slightly furrowed with worry.
“You didn’t have to come back.”
Her father spoke, his voice weak, as if it would scatter with the slightest breeze.
“I’m just worried about you.”
Bo Zhoucheng was naturally cold toward others, even her own father.
Though it might not be right of her to reserve all her tenderness for Xu Youyan alone, that was simply how she was.
After chatting with her father for a while, Bo Zhoucheng decided to stay home for a couple of days, at least until he was a little better.
She hadn’t traveled all this way just to exchange a few pleasantries and leave.
She still had to fulfill her duty as a daughter to stay by her parents’ side when they were weak.
The film crew was about to head to the desert and Gobi. During the break while the convoy was being prepared, Xu Youyan shot two commercials that her company had arranged.
Her face was adorned with delicate makeup, which she hadn’t yet had the chance to remove.
“Youyan, why do you seem so distracted?”
Cheng Zhun, hoping to cheer her up, had surprisingly bought ice cream. But Xu Youyan just rested her cheek on her hand, glanced at it absentmindedly, and shook her head.
Could it be? With Bo, the award-winning actress, not around, she wouldn’t even eat her favorite ice cream?
Cheng Zhun was a bit taken aback, but then he remembered this was just Xu Youyan’s temperament.
However, going on set in this state was absolutely out of the question.
After hesitating for a long time, Cheng Zhun finally proposed the plan.
“Why don’t you go see Zhoucheng?”
“Even though her home isn’t nearby, it’s still within the country. A flight wouldn’t take too long.”
As soon as Cheng Zhun suggested this somewhat absurd plan, Xu Youyan’s eyes lit up instantly.
Like a match striking paper.
“That’s a great idea.”
For the past few days, Xu Youyan had been missing Bo Zhoucheng constantly. Every time she closed her eyes, she would think of the other’s cool fingertips, soft lips, delicate collarbone, and that enviable waistline.
Xu Youyan pressed her legs together, rubbing them slightly.
Though she hated to admit it,
She really was missing the other person. Xu Youyan finally understood why long-distance relationships were so difficult to endure.
Now she was experiencing it herself. When Bo Zhoucheng was around, she hadn’t thought much of it sometimes she’d even found the constant “Yanyan, Yanyan.” a bit annoying.
But once she was gone, Xu Youyan didn’t know what to do with herself.
“Do you know which hospital her father is in?”
Xu Youyan was already planning to have the driver change course and head to the airport.
To hell with her schedule! After shooting several commercials in a row, Peng Ding ought to let her take a break!
Back when she was twenty, she hadn’t been this exhausted back then, all she had to do was wake up and act in a few idol dramas.
“I don’t know.”
“But Su Cha probably does.”
Cheng Zhun and Su Cha had always gotten along well. Though they hadn’t seen eye to eye years ago, their bosses had ended up together, so their relationship had naturally warmed.
After Cheng Zhun inquired, he received a reply almost immediately.
Su Cha didn’t hide anything after all, Xu Youyan was the other party’s most beloved girlfriend, and sharing schedules was something couples often did.
She was already used to it.
After learning the specific address of the hospital, Xu Youyan decisively asked the driver to turn the car around. She planned to head to the airport.
Just one night, just one night.
If she squeezed her schedule a bit, it shouldn’t interfere with the film crew’s plans.
Night fell, and the area outside the hospital wasn’t particularly noisy. It was very quiet, with streetlights glowing softly and many moths fluttering around them.
Bo Zhoucheng was still keeping her father company.
“You should go back and rest.”
The man didn’t feel there was anything to complain about, staying in a luxurious VIP single room with a nurse on duty. Once his stomach felt a little better, he could leave the hospital.
“No, I’ll stay with you.”
“This is the least I can do.”
Bo Zhoucheng forced herself to stay alert as she looked at her aging father, feeling a pang of guilt. She knew her best choice would be to help her parents manage the company, but she didn’t like that kind of work.
Just as the two were arguing, Bo Zhoucheng’s phone vibrated softly in her pocket.
“Looks like you have a call to take.”
Her father chuckled lightly, his tone carrying a hint of teasing.
“Let me guess who it is your little girlfriend?”
“Dad, she hasn’t been this clingy lately.”
Bo Zhoucheng sighed helplessly, but when she saw the name “Yanyan” on the caller ID, she felt a little awkward.
“Well, it really is Yanyan.”
Bo Zhoucheng stood up and walked to the corner of the room, not wanting her father to overhear too much of the conversation otherwise, he’d tease her about it again.
“Yanyan, why are you calling so late? Is something wrong?”
“Or do you miss me?”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was soft and slightly husky, like cotton candy piled on top of ice cream.
“Yeah, I miss you.”
Xu Youyan admitted it openly, and she could hear a soft intake of breath on the other end of the line, as if even the dust floating in the air had stilled.
“Then I’m very happy.”
Bo Zhoucheng couldn’t hold back her smile. It seemed that after months of reassurance, her Yanyan had returned to her old self.
Xu Youyan had already followed the nurse’s directions and made her way to the inpatient ward, but she couldn’t enter the VIP area without permission.
“So, can you come downstairs now?”
Xu Youyan felt a little awkward. She was wearing a mask but hadn’t put on sunglasses or a hat, not wanting to look suspicious. Still, she was easily recognizable.
“Why come downstairs?”
Though Bo Zhoucheng was a bit puzzled, she obediently opened the door and stepped out.
She walked slowly down the corridor, her footsteps making a soft “tap-tap” sound. The VIP ward area was especially quiet at night.
“I have something to give you.”
Xu Youyan refused to say what it was, wanting to surprise her.
“Then I’m looking forward to it.”
Whenever the two chatted, Bo Zhoucheng never let the conversation fall flat. As they spoke, she took the elevator down to the first floor.
The moment the elevator doors opened, Bo Zhoucheng saw a woman wearing a mask.
Even with just the mask on, those delicate and beautiful eyes made her recognize the person almost instantly.
Xu Youyan had previously dyed her hair a light tea color, giving her a gentle yet slightly wild aura, like an untamable stray cat.
But because the film was a period drama, she had dyed it back to black. The jet-black hair made her look more like the girl next door.
“How did you.”
Bo Zhoucheng was taken aback, leading the person to a quieter corner of the hallway.
“I miss you.”
Xu Youyan wrapped her arms around Bo Zhoucheng, her hands resting on the other’s waist, no longer hiding her feelings awkwardly as before. Her fingertips gently traced,
feeling the living, breathing Bo Zhoucheng.
“You’ll be recognized like this.”
Bo Zhoucheng, noticing that the other only wore a mask, felt a bit worried.
“Aren’t you even more noticeable like this?”
Xu Youyan had barely finished speaking when her mask was pulled down.
“I’m not worried about being photographed.”
Bo Zhoucheng lifted a strand of her hair, gazing at those rosy, tempting lips. She held back, ultimately refraining from kissing now was not the right time.
