The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 27
Due to her injury, the filming for Xu Youyan had to be temporarily put on hold. Moreover, Bo Zhoucheng did something that left the director even more baffled.
She replaced the actress. Zhao Xunyan, who had already completed more than half of her scenes, was taken off the project.
“Reshooting will waste the efforts of many people.”
The director rubbed his temples irritably, not supporting Bo Zhoucheng’s actions at the moment.
“Is that so? But I don’t care.”
Bo Zhoucheng sat in her chair, looking up at the director with a faint anger in her eyes, though it was suppressed.
“To be honest, I haven’t even settled the score with you yet. What kind of terrible person did you hire?”
Upon hearing this, the director broke out in a cold sweat.
“Anyway, I’m the one funding this film. You don’t need to worry so much. Instead, you should think about it, why didn’t you choose an actress with good character? What if she gets caught up in some other scandal? Wouldn’t our movie be panned by the audience too?”
The director, who had originally come to mediate, left with his tail between his legs.
Bo Zhoucheng stood up. The role of the third female lead would have to be recast in the coming days.
Many people had already submitted their resumes. After all, it was a major production, and the role of the third female lead was highly sought after.
Xu Youyan was holed up in her hotel room. With her injured foot, she couldn’t move around and had to keep it propped up on a soft cushion.
As she watched a movie, she thought to herself that next time she put on her shoes, she would have Cheng Zhun take them out and check them thoroughly.
As the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Cheng Zhun stood up and went to open the door.
She saw an elderly middle-aged couple standing there, carrying some local specialties from their hometown.
“Youyan, your parents are here!”
Cheng Zhun called out. Xu Youyan’s eyes snapped open, and she saw her parents walking in.
Her parents, ten years older now, had more pronounced wrinkles on their faces and significantly more gray hair.
It was heartbreaking to see.
“Where’s Zhoucheng?”
Her mother first glanced around the hotel room before asking.
“She’s out.”
Xu Youyan replied, only then realizing something was off. She looked up at her mother.
“How did you know.”
Before she could finish, her mother placed a bag on the table. Even though it was wrapped in thick kraft paper, a strong smell of traditional Chinese medicine wafted from it.
“Know what? That you’re clinging to her all day, insisting on marrying her no matter what?”
Her mother reached out and patted Xu Youyan’s leg.
“Your foot is injured, and you’re wearing such thin clothes. You’ll regret it when you’re older.”
Xu Youyan was only wearing a pair of floral shorts in the hotel, looking very casual.
Xu Youyan’s ears turned bright red. She hadn’t expected that she had already told her parents about her relationship with Bo Zhoucheng.
Just as she was about to say something more, her mother grabbed a blanket from the sofa and draped it over her legs.
“This is the medicine I brought for you. It’ll help replenish your energy and blood. You must have lost a lot of blood when that nail went through your foot.”As she said this, Mother Xu sighed, clearly feeling heartbroken for her daughter.”
“What about these two packages?”
Xu Youyan poked the other two packages of Chinese medicine, unable to understand why she needed to drink so much medicine just for a puncture wound.
“You asked for these too.”
Mother Xu leaned in closer, whispering into Xu Youyan’s ear.
“Didn’t you always complain about back pain? These two packages of medicine will help relieve it.”
Xu Youyan was an adult, so she understood almost instantly what her mother was implying. She felt a bit ashamed was she really that desperate for Bo Zhoucheng that her own mother had to bring her medicine?
However, before the conversation could continue, the door was pushed open, and Bo Zhoucheng walked back in.
“The recasting is done. The crew will resume work in a day or two.”
Only after speaking did Bo Zhoucheng notice the extra people in the room. Seeing Xu Youyan’s parents, she paused briefly in surprise, then smiled and greeted them.
Xu Youyan’s parents were mainly concerned about her injury. Seeing that she was being well taken care of by Bo Zhoucheng, their worries eased. Not wanting to intrude on the two of them, they didn’t stay long and hurriedly left.
With Xu Youyan’s foot injured, bathing was inconvenient, so Bo Zhoucheng carried her into the bathtub. She was adept at this, while Xu Youyan, in contrast, was acting shy and hesitant.
“Is there any part of you I haven’t seen before? Why are you still so shy?”
Bo Zhoucheng was puzzled. In the past, Youyan would have been unrestrained and playful in the bathtub, so why was she so reserved now?
“Stop talking.”
Xu Youyan nearly drowned herself in the bathtub out of embarrassment. She really wanted to strangle her future self, how could she have been so shameless?
Bo Zhoucheng nodded and patiently washed her hair.
“What were those medicines your mother brought?”
If they were some dubious folk remedies, Bo Zhoucheng thought it might be better to throw them away. Taking random medicine was never a good idea.
“They’re for replenishing qi and blood.”
Xu Youyan didn’t reveal the full story, but her little evasion couldn’t escape notice.
“Do you need that much?”
It wouldn’t be good if all that replenished blood ended up flowing out of her nose later.
“And also.”
Xu Youyan felt embarrassed and took a deep breath before speaking.
“For back pain.”
Hearing the words “back pain,” Bo Zhoucheng reached out and pressed her fingertips against the other’s lower back.
Xu Youyan felt ticklish and immediately shrank back.
“What are you doing, you pervert?”
Bo Zhoucheng chuckled softly, still puzzled.
“But I’ve never heard you complain about a back injury.”
Of course, Xu Youyan didn’t have a back injury. The only reason for her back pain would be because of one person.
“Yeah, I don’t. But if I fall off the couch a couple more times, I might develop one.”
Xu Youyan’s tone was sarcastic, but Bo Zhoucheng understood exactly what she meant. She nodded.
“Youyan, don’t tell me you were thinking of.”
Before she could finish, Xu Youyan covered her mouth, afraid that if she said any more, she wouldn’t be able to resist.
“I wasn’t thinking that.”
But Bo Zhoucheng grabbed her hand and pressed it against her own chest, letting Xu Youyan’s fingertips feel the intense beating of her heart.
“But I was.”
Xu Youyan couldn’t stand the look of infatuation in Bo Zhoucheng’s eyes and tried to pull her hand back. However, Bo Zhoucheng’s grip was too strong for her to resist.
“Youyan, would you be willing to fulfill my wish?”
Xu Youyan’s heart wavered. On one hand, she hadn’t fully accepted this relationship yet; on the other, Bo Zhoucheng had just taken on the entire crew for her sake, and she felt she ought to show gratitude.
Seeing her conflicted expression, Bo Zhoucheng reluctantly let go.
“If you’re tired, we can drop the subject.”
Just as she was about to resume rinsing Xu Youyan’s hair, the latter leaned in a little closer.
“Do you really want to?”
Xu Youyan wasn’t a stingy person. Since the two were already in a relationship and she had no intention of breaking up, being coy and hesitant would only seem out of character. It was better to accept Bo Zhoucheng openly.
After all, this person wouldn’t truly take advantage of her.
The showerhead sprayed water over her hair, and the warm water cascaded gently over her skin, bringing a soothing sensation.
“Nonsense.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was so faint it was almost inaudible, hidden amidst the sound of running water.
“Then don’t stay too late.”
The little rabbit had ultimately softened her heart and let the big bad wolf into the room.
