The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 26
Only after the sole of her foot was wrapped in gauze did the pain begin to subside. Xu Youyan’s face was somewhat pale.
Bo Zhoucheng carried her back to the lounge and tucked her under the covers.
Just as she was about to leave to deal with the matter, her wrist was suddenly grasped. Xu Youyan looked at her with tear-filled eyes, damp and pleading.
“I’m sorry for causing trouble and delaying the filming schedule.”
With one incident after another, Xu Youyan felt deeply apologetic. Bo Zhoucheng raised her hand, gently stroking Xu Youyan’s soft hair with her fingertips.
“This is someone else’s fault.”
Bo Zhoucheng narrowed her eyes. Such scheming behavior was not uncommon on set, but this was the first time someone had dared to act right under her nose.
“Zhoucheng, let’s not waste any more time.”
The director was sweating profusely but felt compelled to urge her. If the crew continued to delay like this, completing the filming tasks would become a distant goal.
“So many actors and extras are paid by the day. Halting all work to investigate this is just wasting time.”
The assistant director chimed in as well.
Bo Zhoucheng crossed her arms and turned to face them.
“If your wife were pushed into the water, would you investigate?”
Her voice was cold, carrying an invisible pressure as she spoke. Though not as harsh as a man’s, it still left little room for argument.
“Well.”
The director was momentarily at a loss for words.
“Even if I have to abandon this film, I will find out who did it. I don’t care about the money.”
Bo Zhoucheng scanned everyone present. Expecting her to let a major issue be downplayed or a minor one be dismissed? What a joke!
There weren’t many cameras in Hengdian, but it was possible to identify who had gone to the storage room one by one.
Soon, several people who had visited the storage room at noon were singled out all of them lacked alibis.
“Stop shaking.”
A man glared coldly at his companion. Despite being a grown man, his hands and legs were trembling uncontrollably.
“I told you this would be found out.”
The man’s voice was filled with despair.
Before his companion could respond, Bo Zhoucheng approached, her gaze sweeping over the dozen or so people present.
“What were you doing there? What did you take? What was it for? Explain everything clearly. If you can’t provide a proper account, then.”
“I’m sorry. Even though I don’t want to resort to collective punishment, I have no choice.”
When investigating people and incidents, a certain degree of ruthlessness was necessary to uncover the truth.
The storage room was remote, and people rarely went there without reason. The others quickly produced evidence, leaving only the two men.
Just as one of them was about to defend himself, the other knelt down.
“I’m sorry… Zhao Xunyan told us to do it. I just wanted the money. I never thought it would be something so immoral.”
“You!”
His companion was furious. He hadn’t expected to be exposed not by the investigation but by his own accomplice.
“Is that so?”
Bo Zhoucheng nodded. Although she had wasted a day, uncovering the truth she sought made it worthwhile.
She didn’t mention punishment or expulsion. Instead, she turned and whispered a few instructions into Su Cha’s ear.
Su Cha nodded.
It seemed Zhoucheng was truly angry this time and intended to resolve the matter privately.
For them, being blacklisted in the industry would be the least of their worries.
Xu Youyan only heard the commotion outside the door and was about to ask Cheng Zhun what was happening when Bo Zhoucheng walked in.
“Do you know who did it?”
Xu Youyan didn’t hold much hope. She had seen this kind of thing before, but never directed at her. In the end, those actors who were targeted almost never got the truth they wanted. The crew would just casually pin the blame on a few staff members, unable to uncover the mastermind behind it.
“I know.”
Bo Zhoucheng sat on the chair. Xu Youyan’s foot had stopped bleeding, but it still looked heartbreaking.
“Who is it?”
Xu Youyan leaned entirely over the table, wanting to know which scumbag had targeted her.
“Yanyan, you don’t need to worry about this kind of thing.”
Bo Zhoucheng, however, didn’t want to continue the topic. She just raised her hand and ruffled the other’s hair, trying to steer the conversation elsewhere.
“Why? Is it because I’m in someone’s way?”
Xu Youyan still refused to give up. She wanted to know the truth.
“Pretty much. Zhao Xunyan wants your role. If you were injured for a few more days, the screenwriter might indeed let her step in as a replacement.”
Seeing how determined the other was to know the truth, Bo Zhoucheng didn’t hide it and spoke directly.
“Damn it, I’m going to find that bitch!”
Xu Youyan got so worked up that she almost stood up right then and there. She had never been treated like this in her life.
Bo Zhoucheng quickly reached out to stop Xu Youyan, covering her mouth with her hand.
“Yanyan, you can’t use foul language here.”
The cool fragrance emanating from Bo Zhoucheng was overwhelming, but more than that, it carried an invisible pressure that made it hard to breathe.
“Don’t stop me! If I don’t slap Zhao Xunyan across the face today, I won’t be able to calm down!”
Anyone whose foot was nearly pierced by a nail probably wouldn’t be in a good mood either. Xu Youyan was at an age of youthful vigor, how could she let someone step on her and not fight back? There wasn’t a cat in the world with such a good temper!
However, Xu Youyan could barely walk in her current state. Bo Zhoucheng simply picked her up and carried her into the lounge, placing her on the soft bed.
“What are you doing?”
Xu Youyan was furious that this person was stopping her from seeking revenge.
“Yanyan, if you really get into a fight with her, the media will have a field day.”
Someone who resorts to such underhanded tricks wouldn’t put themselves in a dangerous situation.
“Leave it to me, okay?”
Bo Zhoucheng took Xu Youyan’s hand and pressed it against her own cheek, her eyes filled with sincerity.
Gazing into those calm, clear eyes that resembled a tranquil lake, Xu Youyan’s agitation gradually subsided. After hesitating for a moment, she finally nodded.
“Alright.”
Bo Zhoucheng smiled faintly and was about to stand up when her wrist was grabbed.
“Yanyan, if you don’t let me go, how can I handle this?”
Bo Zhoucheng remained extremely patient. Xu Youyan looked at the person before her, knowing she had done a lot for her. The request to halt the filming had also been made by Bo Zhoucheng something she herself couldn’t have accomplished.
“Thank you.”
The woman lowered her head, her ears flushed red, as she shyly expressed her gratitude.
Bo Zhoucheng gently squeezed her hand.
“You don’t need to thank me. This is something I wanted to do, and something I should do.”
After all, standing up for your own wife is every partner’s responsibility, isn’t it?
Xu Youyan took a deep breath, reached out her fingers, cupped the other’s face, and turned her head slightly.
She suddenly remembered what Bo Zhoucheng had said on the couch that day.
“If you want to thank me, then look up and kiss me.”
Since that day when she was kicked off the bed, Xu Youyan had rarely taken the initiative. Bo Zhoujing’s eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise passing through them.
Then she closed her eyes.
And began to respond to the other.
The rich scents of perfume intertwined, a back-and-forth dance.
But in the end, the cool fragrance prevailed, nearly causing Xu Youyan to stumble onto the bed.
