The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 28
In the evening, Bo Zhoucheng drew the curtains it was always wise to guard against paparazzi. Only one lamp was lit in the room, the heavy drapes blocking out most of the light.
“Is this really necessary?”
Xu Youyan had dodged paparazzi plenty of times before, but she never felt this uneasy even after checking into a hotel.
“Photography technology is advanced these days. They can capture shots from another building.”
Bo Zhoucheng walked over. Xu Youyan’s feet were still wrapped in gauze, a reminder that she couldn’t be too reckless today. If she aggravated the injury, she’d be in for a world of pain.
Bo Zhoucheng approached, placing her hands on either side of the bed as she looked at Xu Youyan. She could hear Youyan’s rapid breathing, her whole body trembling slightly.
“Why are you nervous?”
Bo Zhoucheng was used to such situations. Logically, Xu Youyan was the one who usually clung to her.
“I’m not nervous at all. Hurry up.”
Xu Youyan crossed her arms, her tone betraying a hint of embarrassment.
Bo Zhoucheng curled her lips into a smile, wrapped her arms around Xu Youyan’s waist, and brushed her nose against Youyan’s shoulder.
“You said it yourself.”
Before Xu Youyan could react, she was sinking into the soft bedding, as if floating on a cloud, enveloped by plush cotton.
“Youyan, don’t cry like last time. It breaks my heart to see you like that.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was as mesmerizing as a serpent’s whisper. Xu Youyan turned her face away. With her injured foot, she couldn’t even kick out in protest.
Frustration simmered inside Xu Youyan. She wanted to argue she hadn’t cried out of weakness; it was just that Bo Zhoucheng was unbearably teasing.
The sensation of Bo Zhoucheng’s cool fingertips against her ankle felt unsettling, like being bound by a delicate chain.
Xu Youyan knew this night would be long and trying.
Heavens, only she knew how insane she was being lying with the person she despised the most!
And yet spending the night together.
At the international airport, a man had just stepped off the plane when he spotted the couple waiting for him.
He hooked a finger under his sunglasses and lowered them.
“Uncle Bo, where’s Zhoucheng?”
Zhou Lianghui, dressed in a well-tailored black suit and wearing sunglasses, exuded a carefree, roguish charm. When he removed his shades, his handsome eyes revealed the demeanor of a mature man.
“She’s filming. You know how she is always busy, though I’m not sure what exactly keeps her so occupied.”
Zhou Lianghui nodded, then smiled as if proud of Bo Zhoucheng.
“She’s a big star, after all. I understand.”
“How long are you planning to stay this time?”
The group got into the Bo family’s car, and Mrs. Bo asked cheerfully.
“I’m in no rush to leave. I plan to stick around for a while.”
Zhou Lianghui toyed with his sunglasses, a look of determination in his eyes.
He and Bo Zhoucheng had known each other since childhood. Now that they were of marriageable age, he had finally convinced his parents that he might be able to marry Bo Zhoucheng.
The mere thought of it made him happy.
“I want to see Zhoucheng.”
Mr. Bo smiled awkwardly.
“Lianghui, there’s something Zhoucheng hasn’t told you.”
“What is it, Uncle Bo?”
Zhou Lianghui immediately picked up the thread of conversation, never one to let an elder feel awkward.
“She has a girlfriend.”
Crack! The sunglasses in Zhou Lianghui’s hand snapped in two. Mr. Bo noticed the reaction but said nothing more.
“I actually really wanted to set you two up, but some things, you know, can’t be forced.”
Xu Youyan was in a good mood today and even treated Cheng Zhun with a bit more warmth. After resting her foot for a few days, she could finally walk again.
The crew had resumed operations, and Xu Youyan was only filming a few light scenes these days. She would only start shooting the more demanding action scenes once her foot had fully healed.
“Youyan is so full of energy, I can’t believe her foot was pierced just a few days ago.”
A few assistants were sitting nearby, and the one chattering next to Cheng Zhun was the assistant of the newly arrived third female lead.
“Of course, a woman who’s been well-nourished is different.”
Cheng Zhun casually remarked.
“Huh? Brother Cheng, what do you mean by that?”
The assistant beside him hadn’t quite caught on, but Xu Youyan had already walked back and lazily reclined on the lounge chair.
Cheng Zhun hurried over to serve her tea and water.
“Where’s Bo Zhoucheng?”
The moment Xu Youyan lay down, she asked this question. Cheng Zhun sighed and slowly explained.
“She went out to pick someone up. I heard a man is visiting the set today.”
“Who is it that she has to personally go and greet?”
Xu Youyan looked completely baffled.
“I’m not sure, but there are rumors among the crew.”
Cheng Zhun hesitated for a moment but decided to speak up anyway after all, Xu Youyan was his boss.
“I heard he’s Bo Zhoucheng’s childhood friend. They grew up together.”
Before Cheng Zhun could finish, the teacup in Xu Youyan’s hand fell to the ground.
“Youyan, it’s not that serious, is it? Bo Zhoucheng likes you so much.”
Cheng Zhun crouched down to pick it up.
“Hurry, I need to go see what’s going on.”
Xu Youyan didn’t know why she was so worried, but she remembered that before she transmigrated, Bo Zhoucheng had no romantic scandals.
However, there was always a rumor online that Bo Zhoucheng had a childhood friend who matched her in looks and family background. The two were engaged and would marry once they reached a certain age.
How could Xu Youyan not feel jealous? How could she not worry?
After all, she had transmigrated and directly become Bo Zhoucheng’s girlfriend. She had no idea whether Bo Zhoucheng had any past relationships or lingering attachments!
Before Cheng Zhun could react, Xu Youyan had already sprung up from the lounge chair like a rabbit and headed straight for the studio gate.
“You don’t always have to be so busy. Your father still hopes you’ll take over the company. Acting doesn’t earn much anyway.”
Zhou Lianghui walked leisurely beside Bo Zhoucheng, acting like a gentleman.
“This is my passion. Stop nagging me about it.”
Bo Zhoucheng shook her head. She had only taken a few steps when the man’s rather large hand gripped her arm.
“I heard you have a girlfriend.”
Bo Zhoucheng raised an eyebrow in surprise. The reason she hadn’t told Zhou Lianghui was precisely because she knew that if he found out she was in a relationship, he would make a huge fuss.
And he would bother Youyan.
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t want to see that happen.
“Yes, but.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s gaze fell on his hand, her tone turning serious.
“Let go of my arm first. I don’t like people holding me like that.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the sound of footsteps approached.
Xu Youyan walked over.
“Bo Zhoucheng, you didn’t even tell me you were bringing a friend.”
Before Xu Youyan could finish her polite remark, she saw the man holding Bo Zhoucheng’s arm.
This was really,
Cheng Zhun was internally panicking.
“Let go.”
Bo Zhoucheng glanced at Zhou Lianghui, only to find him smiling faintly without letting go. Instead, his grip tightened even more.
Xu Youyan took a deep breath.
“What are you two doing?”
She forced herself to remain calm.
Only then did Zhou Lianghui slowly release his hand.
“Miss Xu, I came back to discuss our marriage with Zhoucheng.”
Before Zhou Lianghui could finish speaking, his polished leather shoe was stomped on.
Bo Zhoucheng walked straight over and embraced Xu Youyan.
“Don’t listen to him. He’s talking nonsense.”
