- Chapter 18 - The Desktop Cleanup Master
After the variety show ended, Bo Zhoucheng returned to the film set to reshoot some previously missed scenes.
Her part in the film was now complete, and Zhao Xue specially organized a gathering to thank Bo Zhoucheng for her guest appearance.
“Why have you been so down these past few days?”
At the dinner table, Bo Zhoucheng had little appetite. Even though the table was filled with her favorite dishes, she only took a couple of bites.
She kept her head down, quietly drinking.
“It’s nothing.”
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t want to answer, her voice indifferent.
Zhao Xue tapped her fingers on the table and quickly figured out what was going on. The only person who could trouble her friend like this was that little troublemaker, Xu Youyan.
Who else could it be?
Who else would it be?
“You don’t have to tell me I know who it is. Xu Youyan, right? What’s she done now?”
Bo Zhoucheng clenched her wine glass tightly, then set it down. She didn’t want to talk about it, but she felt isolated and couldn’t figure out Youyan’s thoughts.
So she had no choice but to speak.
“She’s been getting close to another woman recently. I’m worried, worried she’s growing tired of me.”
Zhao Xue slammed the table upon hearing this, startling the other actors and crew members into silence.
“You saved her life! How could she do this?”
But Bo Zhoucheng shook her head.
“Saving someone’s life doesn’t mean they have to give themselves to you.”
She drank alone, unable to shake off the gloom in her heart. Ever since that morning when Youyan woke up, it was as if she had become a different person.
By late at night, everyone had dispersed.
Bo Zhoucheng leaned back in her chair, feeling dazed and disoriented.
“Zhoucheng, it’s time to go back.”
Su Cha called out to her softly. Bo Zhoucheng held her head and shook it.
“I want some quiet.”
Su Cha could only step outside, looking worried. After thinking for a while, she dialed Xu Youyan’s number.
As the saying goes, it takes the one who tied the bell to untie it. When Bo Zhoucheng was in a bad mood, she could be as stubborn as a mule. Only Xu Youyan could calm her down.
“I’m a little crocodile, I love taking baths.”
Xu Youyan lay in the bathtub, scrubbing the delicate bubbles on her smooth shoulders.
Suddenly, her phone rang beside her. Xu Youyan reached out and answered it.
“Su Cha, what’s up?”
Xu Youyan was currently staying at a hotel. Because her company was preparing for a film, her scattered work commitments had been packed together.
She had been quite busy these past few days and hadn’t even caught a glimpse of Bo Zhoucheng.
Their work schedules were different, so they rarely saw each other. Bo Zhoucheng hardly ever filmed commercials or endorsements.
She even rarely appeared in magazines.
“Zhoucheng… she’s drunk and refuses to go back.”
Xu Youyan sighed in frustration.
“Bo Zhoucheng is acting like a child.”
Although she complained, Xu Youyan was already getting up. The feeling of being interrupted mid-bath was unpleasant, but if she didn’t take care of Bo Zhoucheng, there was a risk that the latter’s drunken state might be caught by paparazzi.
Su Cha instinctively wanted to retort.
Zhoucheng isn’t a child it’s because of you that she acts like one.
But she held back.
From the very beginning, she hadn’t approved of this relationship. Xu Youyan’s world was too immature, or perhaps she only saw Bo Zhoucheng as a refuge.
A shelter where Xu Youyan could seek protection when the entire internet turned against her.
Now that her popularity was gradually returning, Xu Youyan had relied on Bo Zhoucheng to get through the toughest years and was now thinking of cutting ties with her.
Su Cha had always viewed Xu Youyan this way, and indeed, things were developing in that direction.
Thus, Xu Youyan came off as even more of a heartbreaker.
The night was deep, and Xu Youyan, wearing a black mask, stealthily appeared at the hotel entrance. The hotel was nearly closed for the night, but there were still quite a few guests.
Xu Youyan went straight to the private room on the second floor that Su Cha had mentioned. Pushing the door open, she saw the woman lying in the chair.
Bo Zhoucheng was dressed simply in a shirt today, the collar slightly open, revealing her fair collarbone tinged with a hint of pink. Combined with the blush on her cheeks, it painted a captivating picture of a tipsy beauty reclining.
“Bo Zhoucheng?”
Xu Youyan walked over and called out softly.
She removed her mask and reached out to help her up.
Bo Zhoucheng opened her eyes, first in disbelief, then reached out to touch Xu Youyan’s cheek.
“Yanyan?”
The way she said “Yanyan” was so soft, almost cautious, making one’s heart ache.
“I’m here.”
Xu Youyan’s hair was still half-damp because she had rushed out midway through her shower, carrying the faint scent of body wash.
“Tell me.”
Bo Zhoucheng stood up. Only leftovers remained on the table. Xu Youyan was pressed against the edge of the table, nearly knocking over a wine glass.
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t seem to care, sweeping her hand and sending the expensive plates crashing to the floor with a shattering sound.
In her drunken state, Bo Zhoucheng mistook this for a dream and grew increasingly unrestrained.
“What does Zheng Ya have that I don’t?”
Xu Youyan’s eyes widened as she looked down at the broken plates, thinking, This is bad, the compensation is going to cost tens of thousands.
“I never said she was better than you.”
Sensing danger, Xu Youyan immediately played dumb, blinking innocently with a look of pure naivety.
“Then why do you get so close to her?”
Bo Zhoucheng moved even closer. Cheng Zhun quickly pulled Su Cha out of the private room.
“Let’s discuss how to compensate for that table full of plates.”
Cheng Zhun felt rather awkward and could only bring up a random topic.
Su Cha thought for a moment.
“I’ll take care of it. Zhoucheng broke them.”
Cheng Zhun didn’t argue, just scratched his head in confusion.
“What’s going on with them lately?”
“It feels a bit strange to me.”
Su Cha snorted inwardly, wanting to say it was all because of that troublemaker Xu Youyan, but she couldn’t say it outright in front of Xu Youyan’s assistant. So she just nodded and shook her head.
“I don’t know either.”
Inside the room, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
To avoid getting stained by the leftover food, Xu Youyan had no choice but to grip Bo Zhoucheng’s shoulders, her legs wrapping around the other woman for support.
“I already told you, there’s nothing between me and Zheng Ya.”
A hint of anger crept into Xu Youyan’s voice as she slapped Bo Zhoucheng’s shoulder.
“Let me down. I’m not a dish on this table.”
But Bo Zhoucheng persisted, covering Xu Youyan’s mouth with her hand.
A flicker of impatience shone in her eyes.
“Yanyan, don’t argue.”
Then she lowered her head, her nose brushing against Xu Youyan’s neck.
Xu Youyan shivered all over.
In response, she lifted her foot and kicked Bo Zhoucheng squarely in the knee. Bo Zhoucheng took a sharp breath, enduring the pain.
But she finally let go, sobering up a little.
“Are you, really Xu Youyan?”
Bo Zhoujing slightly widened her eyes, looking at the mess all over the floor, unable to believe the outrageous things she had just done.
“Could it possibly be fake?”
Xu Youyan tugged at her half-wet hair, somewhat helpless.
“I came to pick you up in the middle of my shower, and this is how you treat me placing me on the table like a dish!”
