The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 15
After a few days of returning to the dating show’s filming, everyone had grown much more familiar with each other. Zheng Ya, in particular, had become quite close to Xu Youyan through their interactions during this time.
“You’re not as cold as people say online,” Zheng Ya remarked, sitting on a stool while everyone waited for the host to announce the next task. They were all casually chatting to pass the time.
“Is that so?” Xu Youyan played with her hair, her smile radiant and captivating. Even if her acting skills were lacking, her stunningly beautiful face—one that could make people weak in the knees had kept her popular in the entertainment industry for ten years.
“Next, we’ll draw lots. Whoever draws a red stick can choose their partner for the roller coaster ride.”
Two staff members brought out a cardboard box, and Xu Youyan couldn’t help but feel a sense of resignation.
Damn it! Drawing lots again?
Is this never going to end?
She knew her luck was terrible when it came to draws, but she had no choice. The guys drew first, followed by the girls.
There were five red sticks and five black sticks.
For some reason, the guys had exceptionally good luck only one of them failed to draw a red stick, and that person was Mo Tian, who was staring intently at Xu Youyan.
Serves you right for being unlucky, Xu Youyan thought spitefully to herself, while silently praying to the heavens that she would draw a red stick.
But just as she made her wish, she noticed the person next to her trembling violently.
“What’s wrong?” Xu Youyan couldn’t help but ask.
“Nothing, I’m just a bit scared of riding roller coasters.”
Fear of heights was not uncommon. Zheng Ya tried her best to avoid high places, but as an actress, how could she avoid them entirely? From wirework stunts to filming variety shows, it was inevitable.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Xu Youyan reached out and gently held the other’s wrist, her tone soothing.
“That would be great!”
Zheng Ya smiled happily, but her smile didn’t last long before she noticed a somewhat sinister gaze directed at her. She shook her head.
“No, I think you should stay with Teacher Bo.”
As someone in the industry, Zheng Ya had heard some rumors here and there.
“But she’s not afraid of heights,” Xu Youyan replied, unfazed. Being in a relationship didn’t mean giving up personal freedom, especially since she was still in the process of trying to accept Bo Zhoucheng.
“But what if neither of us draws a red stick?”
After their discussion, Zheng Ya suddenly realized this problem.
Oh right, only one red stick remained, and it was unclear which of the girls would get it.
At that moment, Bo Zhoucheng stood up and walked coldly to the drawing box. She reached in, fumbling for a long time before finally pulling out a stick.
But it was a black one.
The room fell silent. Everyone could sense Bo Zhoucheng’s displeasure, which spread through the air like an icy chill.
Xu Youyan stood up and confidently reached into the box, pulling out a red stick.
Well, that settled it. The remaining girls didn’t need to draw anymore.
After a moment of hesitation, Xu Youyan chose Zheng Ya. Even the host was surprised by her decision.
The roller coaster roared past, and Xu Youyan felt the wind whipping against her ears. The person beside her clung tightly to her arm, and Xu Youyan felt as though her wrist might break. But she didn’t utter a sound, only turned her head with difficulty.
“It’s okay.”
Unfortunately, her comforting words were lost to the wind.
Zheng Ya tightly closed her eyes, feeling as if she were about to faint. When she stepped down, her legs were unsteady, and if it weren’t for Xu Youyan supporting her, she would have collapsed to the ground.
After taking just two steps, she leaned over a trash can and vomited violently.
The cameraman wisely turned the lens away and stopped filming.
Just as he was about to focus on Xu Youyan, someone walked in from the side a figure in a black trench coat.
Clearly, they had just gotten off the roller coaster behind them.
Xu Youyan could even catch a faint whiff of cigarette smoke. Before she could process her shock, her arm was grabbed firmly. Bo Zhoucheng didn’t even acknowledge the camera, casting a cold glance at the cameraman.
Her icy eyes reflected in the video.
She pulled Xu Youyan away without hesitation.
“What are you doing?”
There were secluded spots in the amusement park this one was behind a storage shed, not far from the cheerful laughter of passersby.
Bo Zhoucheng took a few deep breaths, her body carrying the heavy scent of tobacco.
“Why were you getting so close to Zheng Ya?”
“You’ve been smoking.”
“An artist shouldn’t smoke.”
Xu Youyan was still in shock, but her ear was gently pinched.
“Yanyan, since when have you become so childish?”
Bo Zhoucheng moved closer. Xu Youyan’s strange behavior over the past few days had thoroughly aroused her suspicion.
“And why have you become so lively?”
Bo Zhoucheng pressed forward step by step. Xu Youyan’s heart was pounding with nervousness, yet she felt that even if she were discovered, it wouldn’t matter. Could Bo Zhoucheng really lock her up in a mental hospital? So, she looked at the other provocatively.
“What does it have to do with you?”
Bo Zhoucheng was taken aback by this, a hurt expression flickering in her eyes.
Realizing she had said the wrong thing, Xu Youyan quickly tried to make amends, but the next moment, her lips were sealed.
Like a spider fixated on its prey, waiting until the victim was trapped and unable to move, Bo Zhoucheng struck.
She was too skilled; Xu Youyan couldn’t keep up.
She felt dizzy and overwhelmed, completely dominated by the other.
After a long while, Bo Zhoucheng finally pulled away.
But she didn’t step back, only held Xu Youyan tightly.
“Are you tired of me?”
There was a hint of self-doubt in her voice. Xu Youyan, still dazed, let out a confused “Hmm?”
“It’s a pity, Yanyan. Even if you want to run now, you can’t escape.”
Just as Xu Youyan caught her breath, those cool lips drew near again.
“We’ll be discovered if we keep this up.”
Xu Youyan protested intermittently.
“You know how sharp the fans are they can even tell if my lipstick is smudged.”
Xu Youyan was genuinely frightened.
But as her fingers brushed against Bo Zhoucheng’s arm, she relaxed. If Bo Zhoucheng hadn’t saved her back then, that scar wouldn’t be there.
But she would have died.
How could she have traveled ten years into the future?
One shouldn’t repay kindness with ingratitude. Xu Youyan let her guard down, but Bo Zhoucheng stopped her advance.
“You’re right. I wasn’t thinking clearly.”
Bo Zhoucheng hesitated for a moment before mentioning the doctor. She didn’t really want to hide it from Xu Youyan.
“After this variety show ends, I’ve made an appointment with a doctor to give you a check-up.”
Xu Youyan blinked, feeling perfectly fine and healthy.
“Check-up for what? I’m completely normal, aren’t I?”
Bo Zhoucheng remained silent.
Xu Youyan began to suspect something.
“You don’t think I have a mental problem, do you?”
“You’ve been acting so strange lately, I’m a bit worried.”
Xu Youyan shook her head.
“I’m fine. I don’t want to see a doctor.”
Even if she went to see a doctor, what good would it do? Get diagnosed with delusional disorder?
“Bo Zhoucheng, my issues are none of your business.”
Afraid that continuing the conversation would reveal more, Xu Youyan quickly slipped away.
