The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 14
Bo Zhoucheng only brought up the matter of the clothes to tease Xu Youyan. Knowing that she had work the next day, she didn’t dare to push things too far. After putting the clothes away, she lay down on the bed.
Bo Zhoucheng wrapped her arms around the other’s waist, breathing in the faint scent of shampoo from Xu Youyan’s hair. This warm, comforting feeling was something only Xu Youyan could give her.
As a child, Bo Zhoucheng’s parents were always busy, and the nanny treated her with extreme caution, afraid of harming even a single strand of her hair. The lonely child developed a habit of watching TV dramas and began dreaming of becoming an actress.
But as she grew older, her personality became increasingly withdrawn, especially after witnessing some of the darker sides of the entertainment industry. Bo Zhoucheng found it harder and harder to fit in.
Only Xu Youyan was different like a vibrant splash of color in a gray world, she barged directly into Bo Zhoucheng’s life. However, due to Xu Youyan’s lackluster acting skills, Bo Zhoucheng had initially been harsh with her words.
Her cold and detached nature was deeply ingrained, something she couldn’t change. Though she regretted it many times afterward, she could never take back the hurtful things she had said at the beginning.
“Has filming been going smoothly these days?”
As Bo Zhoucheng spoke, the soft tip of her nose brushed against Xu Youyan’s shoulder, sending an indescribable shiver through her.
Xu Youyan always felt that this woman was like a seductive fox spirit from the deep mountains, constantly tempting her. So she turned around to face Bo Zhoucheng directly, meeting her gaze.
“Very smoothly.”
Without makeup, Bo Zhoucheng seemed less sharp and more gentle, especially when she was with Xu Youyan. The usual coldness in her demeanor vanished, making her seem like the perfect lover.
“That’s good. What do you want to film next?”
Bo Zhoucheng inched closer. Xu Youyan, completely unaware of the impending danger, was still carefully recalling her schedule.
“Peng Ding said I need to transition into different roles. Lately, I’ve been considering taking on characters with fewer scenes but more standout qualities.”
The entertainment industry was always about the new replacing the old. Xu Youyan had moved past the phase of starring in idol dramas, even though mentally, she still felt like the heroine of one.
“That’s a good idea. I have a script here.”
Bo Zhoucheng picked up the conversation.
Xu Youyan’s eyes widened as memories of filming with Bo Zhoucheng came flooding back none of them pleasant.
“Let’s not.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s heart tightened. She reached out and grabbed Xu Youyan’s wrist before the latter could react. Strands of Bo Zhoucheng’s hair brushed against Xu Youyan’s nose.
“Why not?”
“Yanyan, you’ve been avoiding me lately.”
Bo Zhoucheng moved even closer, her entire being exuding a dangerous aura, like a wolf gently sniffing its prey.
“I haven’t.”
Xu Youyan was a little frightened by this side of Bo Zhoucheng and quickly wrapped her arms around the other’s back, patting it gently as if soothing a furious wild beast.
Surprisingly, Bo Zhoucheng responded well to this. Her grip loosened but didn’t let go entirely.
“Give me a reason.”
In her heart, Bo Zhoucheng thought she should see a doctor soon.
“Filming with you is stressful.”
Xu Youyan told the truth. Bo Zhoucheng blinked, deflating like a balloon pricked by a needle.
All her anger dissipated in an instant. So that was what she was worried about.
“Don’t worry about that. I’ll teach you slowly.”
Bo Zhoucheng held the other’s fingers and pressed them against her own cheek, gently nuzzling them.
“I have no patience for others, but I might be a bit more lenient with you. Still, you have to put in the effort to learn, understand?”
Xu Youyan nodded.
How could she not want to possess great acting skills? But her talent was limited, and she couldn’t even grasp the subtleties no matter how hard she tried.
Thinking she should thank the other for teaching her, Xu Youyan slowly moved closer to Bo Zhoucheng.
She wrapped her arms around Bo Zhoucheng’s neck, inhaling the faint, cool fragrance that clung to her. Her nose brushed against Bo Zhoucheng’s neck before finally settling on her lips.
Just a light, quick peck.
Xu Youyan knew when to stop. She wasn’t her thirty-year-old self she didn’t know any seductive tricks, only the simplest and most sincere ways to express herself.
The next day, as dawn barely broke, Xu Youyan was awakened by her phone alarm.
After a quick wash, she spotted Bo Zhoucheng sitting at the table.
Bo Zhoucheng had mild nearsightedness, but due to the demands of being an actress, she mostly wore contact lenses. At home, for convenience, she opted for framed glasses when reading.
“This is the script.”
Bo Zhoucheng slid the booklet over.
Xu Youyan was a bit surprised. She took it without looking and sat down beside her.
“But shouldn’t we go for an audition? Shouldn’t the director be casting? How come you.”
Bo Zhoucheng reached out and pressed a finger to the other’s lips, smiling as if amused by how foolish her girlfriend had suddenly become.
“This is a film I want to make our film. Why would we need auditions?”
“This role was tailor-made for you by the screenwriter I hired.”
When someone usually so calm and collected suddenly acts on a whim, it’s hard not to be moved.
“You didn’t have to.”
Before Xu Youyan could finish, the door was knocked on loud, impatient raps. There was no need to guess; it had to be Cheng Zhun, that perpetually careless guy.
“Alright, time for your breakfast.”
Bo Zhoucheng was reluctant to let her go. As the other stood up, she gently nuzzled her cheek twice.
Xu Youyan covered her face, feeling a blush of embarrassment at the surprise attack.
“You.”
Secretly, she thought, Thank goodness she wasn’t wearing lipstick, or I’d have to go wash my face.
“Hurry up and eat.”
Bo Zhoucheng had already finished her meal. She stood up and opened the door for Cheng Zhun.
“Youyan, we need to leave soon.”
Cheng Zhun rushed in as soon as he spoke, but his voice softened the moment he saw Bo Zhoucheng.
“Bo… Sis…”
“No rush.”
“Let her finish eating. A few minutes won’t make a difference.”
When facing others, Bo Zhoucheng’s tone returned to its usual cold, flat monotone, almost like an AI.
It was precisely because of this stark contrast that people became so captivated by her performances.
When Xu Youyan left, she took the script with her. After flipping through just a couple of pages, she realized it was a wuxia story.
But calling it wuxia was a stretch it leaned more toward fantasy.
Titled A Thousand Faces of Gu, it featured a love-hate relationship between the female lead and the second female lead, with no male protagonist in sight.
And,
Just from skimming a few sections, Xu Youyan found herself blushing at some of the scenes.
Bo Zhoucheng must have done this on purpose, having someone write a script like this.
Yet, Xu Youyan couldn’t help sneaking another look.
The plot was actually quite thrilling.
Xu Youyan’s schedule for the day involved a three-hour livestream. It wasn’t particularly exhausting, but it required constant talking.
So Cheng Zhun specially brought a thermal mug for her.
The cup was filled with medicinal tea to soothe the throat, but Xu Youyan rarely drank such things because she found the taste bitter.
“Why did you prepare this?”
She stared at the thermos, the medicinal aroma almost seeping through the lid.
“Bo Jie asked me to prepare it. She said your throat might be a bit sore today.”
“She sent the recipe last night, and I had my wife wake up early to brew it.”
At first, Xu Youyan didn’t notice anything unusual, but halfway through, she suddenly caught on.
“Cheng Zhun, you already have a wife!”
