The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 11
Bo Zhoucheng walked out the door, carrying the dampness of the air with her, leaving only a flustered Xu Youyan behind. Xu Youyan raised her fingers and gently touched her lips, almost unable to believe that she was still savoring the lingering sensation of that kiss.
But when Bo Zhoucheng turned assertive, she was truly different.
Xu Youyan patted her cheeks lightly.
Wake up!
Don’t fall into that tender trap again!
“What is it?”
Bo Zhoucheng looked coldly at Zheng Ya. She could sense the young woman trembling all over, but she wasn’t the kind-hearted type who would care about others’ feelings.
“I’m looking for Youyan.”
Zheng Ya lowered her voice. Bo Zhoucheng glanced at the warm yellow glow from the bathroom light, feeling a tinge of regret that she hadn’t been able to continue savoring the moment earlier.
“She’s showering.”
“Oh, then never mind. I brought some cookies. I told her earlier today that they were delicious, and Youyan wanted to try them, so I brought them over.”
Zheng Ya handed the cookies over.
Bo Zhoucheng reached out to take them.
“Thanks for the trouble. She’s just greedy.”
As a rising star, Xu Youyan had to be stricter with her figure than most. Many treats could only be sampled sparingly, but she loved eating nonetheless.
Zheng Ya noticed that the icy-faced actress Bo was actually smiling. She couldn’t help but recall the rumors circulating on set that Bo Zhoucheng had been bewitched by Xu Youyan with a love spell. Although such supernatural gossip was nothing but baseless speculation, sometimes it really made one wonder.
Could love truly change a person’s temperament so drastically?
But that was none of her business. Zheng Ya left as soon as she had delivered the cookies.
By the time Xu Youyan finished her shower, Bo Zhoucheng was still reading the script, a red marker in her hand, occasionally underlining certain lines and passages.
“I’m going to sleep.”
Xu Youyan’s ears were still flushed as she reminisced about their earlier encounter. She climbed into bed.
But the next moment, her ankle was caught.
“Mm,”
Xu Youyan let out a soft hum. For some reason, her legs felt weak, as if her body was especially vulnerable to Bo Zhoucheng.
“Zheng Ya brought you cookies.”
Xu Youyan was still a bit annoyed at herself for making that sound earlier, but her thoughts were immediately diverted by the mention of cookies.
“She’s so nice. I only mentioned it in passing.”
She then pulled up a stool and sat by the table, eyeing the exquisitely packaged cookies before unwrapping them.
“Since when did you two become so close? It’s only been a few days, and she’s already calling you ‘Youyan’?”
Given the age gap and seniority between them, there was no way Zheng Ya would dare address her so casually unless Xu Youyan had given her permission.
“Shouldn’t I try to get along with the guests? Unlike you, who treats everyone with a cold face that would just get me accused of being a diva.”
Xu Youyan couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch Bo Zhoucheng’s cheek. Bo Zhoucheng’s face had little flesh, and people often said such features indicated a fickle heart. Yet, this person was anything but fickle.
“But,”
Xu Youyan knew she couldn’t let Bo Zhoucheng dwell on it any further. Otherwise, by the time the first episode finished filming in a few days, she would undoubtedly face a terrifying interrogation from her.
Just like that night at the bonfire gathering, when Bo Zhoucheng had stared at her with that eerie, intense gaze.
“Don’t ask so many questions. Do you want some or not?”
Xu Youyan held a cookie between her lips and offered another to Bo Zhoucheng.
The cookies were from a niche foreign brand, with a filling of chocolate and cream, and a bit of crushed nuts added for texture.
The crust was crispy, and inside, you could taste the soft sweetness of chestnuts.
Bo Zhoucheng glanced at the cookie in the other person’s hand, lowered her head, but instead of taking a bite from that one, she seized the moment and bit into the cookie Xu Youyan was holding in her mouth.
“You,”
The distance was too close, so close that Xu Youyan could even see the fine hairs on the other’s face.
And that triumphant, scheming smile.
The sound of the cookie breaking echoed in her ears, a faint, cool fragrance lingering in her nose, mixed with the sweet aroma of the cookie.
“This one might taste better.”
Bo Zhoucheng smiled with satisfaction.
Xu Youyan glanced up at the camera and noticed it wasn’t covered with any clothing.
“Oh no, people will say we’re deliberately putting on a show.”
The cookie fell onto the table, the scattered crumbs representing someone’s scattered heart.
“So what?”
“I’ll marry you anyway.”
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t care. She was already in her thirties, long established in her career. In fact, she had considered retiring from the industry a while ago but ultimately couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Because staying in the industry meant she could at least maintain some popularity and, more importantly, find various excuses to stay by Xu Youyan’s side.
But if she retired, she might be dragged back to manage the family business, and that would be a disaster.
Xu Youyan took a few deep breaths, focusing her gaze on the scar on the other’s arm, reminding herself that this was her savior and that she needed to endure the flirtatious advances.
Xu Youyan wasn’t the type to be ungrateful, but since none of this had happened to her personally, it still felt somewhat unreal.
The week of filming came to an end, and the next shoot was scheduled for over a month later.
Xu Youyan spent the next few months busy with advertising endorsements and attending various commercial events.
In recent years, live-streamed sales had become quite popular, and she occasionally made guest appearances in live-streaming sessions.
Xu Youyan was busy adapting to the work environment of ten years later.
Bo Zhoucheng, on the other hand, went straight into filming for a drama.
Just like that, the two parted ways. Xu Youyan finally breathed a sigh of relief. Although Bo Zhoucheng treated her well and she had felt moments of attraction, something was still missing.
No matter what, it just didn’t feel quite right.
After all, just a few weeks ago, they had been rivals who couldn’t stand each other, and now they were partners—it was really hard to accept.
Xu Youyan felt that if she hadn’t gone crazy by now, it was a testament to her emotional stability.
Today, after finishing another shoot, Xu Youyan reached out and waved to the fans outside the car window.
In the past, her fans were mostly young people, but now the ones in the front rows had aged a bit.
Xu Youyan deeply felt that she had become an older-generation celebrity.
“Youyan, we’re passing by Hengdian today. Do you want to go see Bo Zhoucheng?”
Cheng Zhun spoke up. In the past, Xu Youyan remembered Bo Zhoucheng’s schedule better than her own.
Whenever there was even the slightest opportunity, even if it was just six minutes or three minutes,
Xu Youyan would act like a restless cat, insisting on meeting her. There were a few times when she missed the chance because she forgot or was too busy,
and Cheng Zhun would inevitably get an earful.
“Let’s go.”
Xu Youyan hesitated for a long time but finally decided to go.
After all, this was her savior it would be rude to pass by without visiting.
Even if she was also an annoying person.
After the driver had driven a fair distance, Cheng Zhun watched carefully for a while, making sure no paparazzi cars were following them, before instructing the driver to head to Hengdian.
The entire Hengdian World Studios was practically booked out for the filming of that movie.
From a distance, you could see crowds of extras coming and going quite the grand spectacle.
Xu Youyan hopped out of the car and immediately got lost.
This part of Hengdian was newly built, so of course, Xu Youyan didn’t know her way around.
After all, she had lost ten years of experiences and memories out of thin air.
