The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“You two know each other?”
Lan Yu looked between the two of them with suspicion.
Su Yi’an answered rapidly: “This is the sister I told you about, Boss Lan. I accidentally stained her jacket before.”
Lan Yan steadied her teacup and nodded slightly, her eyes devoid of readable emotion. “We’ve met once.”
“Well, isn’t that a coincidence?” Lan Yu immediately suggested with a suggestive tone, “Then why not just pay the debt with your body?”
“Pay… pay with my body?”
Su Yi’an seemed frightened, taking several steps back. Her voice trembled as she stammered, “Boss Lan, didn’t… didn’t you say that a part-time job here was just ordinary serving tea and water?”
Lan Yu chuckled, resting his chin on one hand, his peach-blossom eyes shimmering. “You misunderstand. I meant using yourself to compensate for our Yan Yan’s jacket. No need to come here—”
“Brother, that’s enough.”
Lan Yan suddenly stood up, cutting Lan Yu off. “That jacket only cost twenty yuan. Don’t go scaring the little sister.”
Lan Yu’s jaw nearly hit the floor.
Twenty? When had his sister ever worn such cheap clothing? Every piece she owned cost at least ten thousand; even a pair of her socks cost more than twenty. When did the Lan family’s infamously cold CEO become so “considerate”? It felt like the sun might rise from the west today.
Lan Yu keenly sensed a different vibe in the air. However, seeing Lan Yan’s clearly displeased expression, he kept his mouth shut.
The room fell silent, save for the rhythmic clack-clack-clack of high heels. Lan Yan walked to the door, pulled it open, then paused. She glanced back at Su Yi’an. “This place doesn’t suit you.”
With that, she left.
“I’m sorry, Boss Lan!” Su Yi’an looked utterly lost. Finally, she gave a quick bow and hurried after her.
“It’s quite alright, Miss Su. I think highly of you. Come to work whenever you like,” Lan Yu’s meaningful voice drifted from behind before the door closed.
Su Yi’an’s expression didn’t change as she hurriedly intercepted Lan Yan at the top of the stairs. “Sister, your jacket… it must have cost more than twenty, right?”
He thinks highly of me? Good. I also think highly of myself—I will definitely get close to my Sister Grape.
“Mm. And?” Lan Yan leaned against the railing, looking down at her with a faint smile.
Lan Yan was wearing high heels. Theoretically, she and Su Yi’an were about the same height, but because Su Yi’an was standing a step lower, she was about two or three centimeters shorter, making her aura seem weaker. The threads of grape fragrance coiled around Su Yi’an’s heart, filling her senses.
Su Yi’an clutched the hem of her shirt, her face flushing as she plucked up her courage. “If it’s for you, Sister… I… I can do it. I can pay the debt with my body!”
The system screamed in her head: “No! Does Host want to eat soft rice yourself? Please maintain a positive and sunny mission attitude!”
It had truly believed the lie that the host wanted to “experience life” by finding a part-time job! Looking back now, it realized that everything—from the grad school application onwards—was a conspiracy to replace Zhan Ming. It was barely a month old; how could the host bully a baby system like this?
The system burst into tears.
Su Yi’an replied internally: “Shut up. Think about it—am I not being proactive? For the sake of the male lead, I’m giving up billions in family assets and sacrificing myself. Does it matter how the mission gets done? Or do you have a better idea?”
The system stared with its invisible, innocent eyes: “…”
It actually sounded logical, and the system really didn’t have a better plan. But as its host, how could she just choose to be a “kept woman”…
“Then why didn’t you just agree immediately back there?” the system asked, puzzled.
Su Yi’an smiled slightly. “Have you ever heard of a term called ‘playing hard to get’?”
If she had agreed instantly, it would have made Sister Grape suspicious. Even though she had arranged everything perfectly, a single slip-up could ruin it. It was better to be cautious.
System: “…” I don’t understand, but these adults are so complicated!
Looking at the nervous, flustered girl standing before her, Lan Yan’s smile suddenly vanished. Her slender fingers gripped Su Yi’an’s chin, tilting it up. Her dark gaze locked onto her like a queen of the night. She leaned in slightly, her thin lips parting: “Do you… like me?”
The glands at the back of Su Yi’an’s neck began to heat up. She lost the composure she usually held with others; her heart hammered like a trapped deer, and the scent of wine-infused grapes grew richer.
Su Yi’an suddenly snapped out of it and looked away. “I don’t know. I just think you’re beautiful, Sister. I… I’ve never been in a relationship. I don’t know what ‘liking’ someone feels like.”
Of course I like you, she thought. If it were just for ‘those things,’ why would I go to all this trouble? With my net worth, what beautiful woman couldn’t I have? But if she admitted to love right now, Lan Yan would likely reject her. After all, this CEO from the book didn’t seem interested in romance; she just wanted a tool to resolve her physiological needs.
“Honest, at least.”
Sure enough, hearing this, the coldness in Lan Yan’s eyes dissipated a bit. She released Su Yi’an and slowly walked past her. “Little girl, do you even know what ‘paying with your body’ means?”
Su Yi’an shook her head, then nodded, looking incredibly submissive. “Whatever Sister says, goes.”
She’s actually looking down on me? I studied hard all night! If only I had the chance, hmph!
Lan Yan was satisfied. As she walked away, she said, “Go back for today. If I’m free on Saturday, I’ll find you at your school.”
“Okay!”
The conversation ended there. Su Yi’an suppressed the urge to follow her, watching as she was swallowed by the crowd.
Today was only Wednesday. There were three days until Saturday. Was Lan Yan going to compare her and Zhan Ming? Or did she want both? No, Su Yi’an thought, Lan Yan isn’t that kind of person. And even if she wanted to, Su Yi’an wouldn’t give her the chance—Zhan Ming was already under her control.
Su Yi’an suddenly remembered something. She took out her phone and sent Lan Yan a message: Sister, those two scents on me… I’ve had them since I was little. I haven’t been tainted by another Omega’s pheromones. Would you mind if I’m a “monster”?
I shouldn’t have sprayed that perfume, she scolded herself. Many Alphas had wine-scented pheromones; as long as Lan Yan didn’t do a deep background check, her disguise should hold. One lie really did require a thousand more to cover it up.
Lan Yan had just gotten into her car when she received the message. She let out a sudden laugh and replied: Mm.
The girl was so pure; Lan Yan believed her. She really did seem like someone who had never dated.
“Did something good happen today, President Lan? You seem very happy,” the assistant driving couldn’t help but ask. Having worked for her for years, he could count the number of times he’d seen her smile on one hand.
The slight curve of Lan Yan’s lips immediately flattened into a straight line. “Nothing. I just feel old. Being young is nice.”
Sincere, green, and clean—it was hard to dislike.
The assistant was bewildered, but seeing Lan Yan close her eyes, he wisely didn’t ask further.
