The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 75
Chapter 75
The middle-aged couple might have been arguing, but the moment they saw their “big benefactor”—who had been sending them a steady stream of money and insisting on calling them Uncle and Aunt—they snapped into character instantly. “What we do is none of your business, Su Yi’an! But look at you, bringing such a little beauty here. What are you up to?”
They looked Su Yi’an and Lan Yan up and down with scrutiny. Finally, their worldly, somewhat mercenary eyes landed straight on the pair’s intertwined hands. “Su Yi’an, who is this? No wonder you refused to marry the village chief’s son; was it all for her?”
There was a slight tremor in the couple’s voices. Ever since the “benefactor” hired them to act, they received large sums of money daily just to stay home and stop taking background acting gigs. Staying home was fine, but it led to bickering so much so that they had ended up at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Regardless, they couldn’t afford to offend this “distant niece/benefactor.” They had to bite the bullet and keep acting. Previously, they wondered why she needed them to act; now they saw it was to coax a beautiful wife home. It seemed she had succeeded. (In their minds, they were now the benefactor’s distant Second Uncle and Aunt, so it wasn’t even acting anymore.)
They weren’t entirely in the loop, but they nailed the pushy, overbearing attitude perfectly.
Lan Yan couldn’t stand it. Before Su Yi’an could speak, she stared down the couple with cold eyes. “We are already married. Second Uncle, Second Aunt, if there is anything you need, you can talk to me.”
Even though she was starting to get angry, she remained polite since these were the Rabbit’s relatives. However, she was used to being cold to outsiders; without a smile, her aura was quite intimidating.
“You… you…” The couple was startled. Their momentum vanished instantly, and they seemed too stunned to speak. This “benefactor niece” hadn’t found a “delicate wife”—she had found a tigress! Just one word from her made them feel like they were freezing to death. They wondered why rich young ladies had such intense tastes these days; surely you shouldn’t choose a wife based on looks alone? What’s the use of being pretty if you’re sleeping next to a block of ice?
How could the benefactor still be smiling? Still, being called “Uncle” and “Aunt” by two great beauties sounded quite nice. And this cold beauty looked a bit familiar, though they couldn’t place her.
The couple glanced cautiously at Su Yi’an. Seeing her eyes only had room for the woman beside her, they grew bolder. “Married? No parental consent? No matchmaker? What kind of marriage is that? Su Yi’an, come back with us!”
Su Yi’an and Lan Yan frowned simultaneously, casting cold gazes at them. The couple chickened out immediately: “Or… not going back is fine too! We want to attend the wedding!” They had never seen a wealthy heiress’s wedding in real life and wanted to see if there were any perks to be had. After all, their script allowed them to “improvise” as long as they stayed within the benefactor’s plot.
Su Yi’an was about to stop them with a look, but Lan Yan spoke first, pulling Su Yi’an away. “Fine. While you are her Uncle and Aunt, please keep your ‘little schemes’ to yourselves. From now on, the Rabbit is mine.”
The Alpha-like dominance of her Sister made Su Yi’an swallow her words. These two, like Zhan Ming, were firmly under her control; she wasn’t worried they’d cause trouble. Plus, they only knew she was rich, not her true identity. Bringing them to witness the wedding wasn’t a bad idea it prevented the Lan brothers from thinking she didn’t value Lan Yan because her own side was empty.
She’d let these “new” relatives stand in for now. Next time, she’d invite Old Man Su and her real friends. Honestly, she loved being protected by her Sister… her wife.
Once they were a distance away, Su Yi’an didn’t forget her earlier question. She lightly tickled Lan Yan’s palm. “Sister, can I? Please?” She dragged out the last word, sounding very much like she was acting spoiled a complete contrast to the sharp, glasses-less face she wore.
Lan Yan fell for it completely. Blushing, she gave a soft “Mmh.” She had just told her Rabbit to speak up if she wanted something, and it was already being used on her like this. But the Rabbit was so obedient and cute, she couldn’t refuse.
Su Yi’an contentedly whispered “Wife” into her ear. After saying it, her own face turned redder than Lan Yan’s. She wasn’t trying to act spoiled; she just desperately wanted to call her “Wife” to prove she wasn’t dreaming.
They were so affectionate that even with Lan Yan trying to stay composed and Su Yi’an hiding her deeper thoughts, anyone could see the pink bubbles floating around them.
The middle-aged couple: “…” The benefactor’s nickname is Rabbit? Rich people have weird tastes. She doesn’t look like a rabbit at all especially that first time we met with the makeup; she looked scarier than the one next to her.
The couple suddenly remembered their reason for being there, glared at each other, and started arguing again—though quietly this time. Once in the car, they didn’t dare disturb the two in front. Divorce could happen anytime; money was more important.
The trip back wasn’t as smooth as the trip out; they were stuck in traffic for an hour. It was nearly noon when they arrived at the old residence.
The courtyard of the Lan family estate was as large as a basketball court. Inside, it was a sea of fresh flowers and red silk—absolutely stunning. The wedding scene was complete. As they entered, they were surrounded by the Lan family. The wedding was set for 2 PM.
Because the sun was hot, Grandpa Lan was resting inside with Grandpa Zhang. Although the deed was done, the Lan brothers still couldn’t bring themselves to talk to Su Yi’an. They only asked Lan Yan: “Yan Yan, was the trip okay?” They didn’t like Su Yi’an, but for their sister’s sake, they wanted the wedding to go perfectly.
Lan Yan nodded. Lan Yin, fearing Su Yi’an would be embarrassed, said, “Auntie, Auntie Rabbit… go upstairs and change. The makeup artists, photographers, and MC are all here.”
“Okay.” Lan Yan and Su Yi’an didn’t delay. Halfway to the house, Lan Yan remembered the guests and beckoned Lan Yin over. She pointed to the middle-aged couple shrinking into a corner by the gate. “The Rabbit’s Uncle and Aunt. Help look after them.” Despite their unpleasantness, they were guests on a joyous day. She didn’t want them to think the Rabbit was with someone inconsiderate. She couldn’t rely on her brothers, but her niece was reliable.
Lan Yin glanced at the whispering couple and nodded. “Don’t worry, Auntie. I’ll take care of them.”
Su Yi’an didn’t care about the two “tools” and signaled her stance: “Niece, just be casual with them.”
Lan Yin: “…Okay, Auntie Rabbit.” How does Senior Su call me ‘Niece’ so naturally? Even my Aunt doesn’t call me that. It took so much mental preparation just to call her ‘Auntie Rabbit’!
In the corner, the couple was stunned by the estate. “This place looks like a movie set. So much money!” “Definitely. That car we were in wasn’t simple. If only that benefactor niece were really our niece, we’d be set for life. What a shame.” “Stop dreaming. We’re lucky enough she picked us out of the crowd. Just don’t blow our cover.”
“Don’t worry. Our benefactor is smart; isn’t she turning this fake act into reality with us?” “True. But I wouldn’t have the guts to treat her like a real niece. Even if I did, she wouldn’t treat us like real family. But as long as she pays, I don’t care.” “They’re so rich, the feast must have amazing food. Let’s eat our fill. And the wine! I’ll sneak some back.”
“Is that okay?” “What’s wrong with it? Our role is the ‘unpleasant, greedy relatives.’ Eating a bit more is fine as long as we don’t cause a scene.” “Right, right. You’re right, old lady.” “Now you call me ‘old lady’? Just a moment ago you called me a ‘shrew’!” “My mistake, my mistake. Still getting a divorce?” “No, no.”
Seeing Lan Yin approach, they shut up and gave her fawning smiles. Lan Yin politely led them to a pavilion to rest and eat, as the wedding was still two hours away. The man immediately started stuffing small bottles of expensive wine into a cloth bag. Lan Yin frowned but said nothing. She looked at her busy uncles with worry. How does the noble-looking Senior Su have relatives like this? No wonder she told me to be ‘casual.’ If my uncles see these two, their impression of Senior Su will only get worse.
The couple, satisfied with their loot, noticed Lan Yin dazing off. “Little girl, do you have an Alpha you like?” They figured if she was single, they might try to introduce their son. The chances were slim, but it was worth a shot.
Lan Yin snapped back to reality. Chen Zhi’s face flashed in her mind. She thought about shaking her head, but looking at the couple, she answered decisively: “Yes.” The couple immediately dropped their scheme.
Lan Yin didn’t want to stay. She went to her uncles and made excuses to lead them away. It was better if they didn’t meet the Rabbit’s relatives.
Once Lan Yin was gone, the middle-aged man had a realization. His eyes widened, and his hand holding the wine bottle shook. “I… I remember who that woman marrying the benefactor is! Old lady, the Lan family! The CEO of Lan’s Jewelry! Remember that necklace you wanted? It’s from her company! Oh my god, we’re at the Lan residence! I can brag about this forever! I should have taken a photo to sell the scoop; it must be worth a fortune!”
The woman was excited too, but more rational. She slapped his arm and hissed, “Do you want to die? The Lan family is dangerous, and we don’t even know the benefactor’s true background. Anyone who can marry the Lan CEO isn’t simple. I’m warning you, don’t mess this up, or we’ll lose that 1,000 yuan a day. If something happens, don’t expect me to save you.”
The man calmed down. “I was just talking. I have professional ethics.”
“It seems there are no guests or reporters. Is the Lan family having a secret marriage?” he asked, noticing only servants working.
The woman rolled her eyes. “Obviously. Why else would I stop you? Your brain only remembers how to drink.”
“Hey! You can call me anything, but don’t call me stupid!” “I just did! If you weren’t stupid, would you be a background extra your whole life?”
They kept their voices low, but the man accidentally knocked over several bottles of wine. The crash alerted the Lan brothers. “Who are they? Who invited them?” Third Brother Lan asked. Only family and a few Zhangs were supposed to be there. But with guards everywhere, they couldn’t have snuck in. If they weren’t Lans, they had to be the Alpha’s family.
Lan Yu, who had investigated Su Yi’an, recognized them. His eyes darkened as he watched the ill-mannered couple. “The little Alpha’s Uncle and Aunt. Ignore them.” He knew Su Yi’an’s history—abandoned by her parents and raised by these greedy relatives. He had originally thought her background made her easy to control, which was why he suggested the agreement to Lan Yan. He hadn’t expected the little Alpha to steal his sister away before the medicine was even finished.
“We can just kick them out later if they cause trouble for the Alpha,” Lan Yu said. Lan Yin’s face changed. “Uncles, Auntie specifically told me to look after them. Is that… okay?”
Inside, Su Yi’an and Lan Yan knew nothing of this. But in the main hall, they saw someone in a bad mood: Zhang Baiyang, standing behind Grandpa Zhang. He looked much thinner and listless, clearly having been “dealt with” by his wife. He didn’t dare stare at Lan Yan disgustingly anymore, but his eyes flickered when they walked in.
“Grandpa, Grandpa Zhang.” Lan Yan greeted them and headed for the bedroom. Zhang Baiyang said nothing.
Su Yi’an wasn’t at ease. When Sister wasn’t looking, she sent a message to Zhang Bailin. She couldn’t openly deal with Zhang Baiyang, but someone else could. If he stayed quiet, Zhang Bailin who now controlled the Zhang family might ignore him. But for some, living is worse than death—like Zhang Baiyang, who had lost everything and was under the thumb of his “tigress” wife.
Su Yi’an finished changing and sat at the vanity. Seeing Sister’s gaze, she put down her phone and gave a sweet smile like an innocent rabbit. “Sister… Wife…”
Actually, with the makeup, she didn’t look like an innocent rabbit. She looked more like a fox, or perhaps a wolf, though she was completely submissive to Lan Yan. Lan Yan’s heart hadn’t stopped racing. How is my new wife so beautiful? I feel like I won’t be able to control myself in the bridal chamber tonight… No, how can we at a time like this…
Lan Yan dismissed the makeup artists and photographers. She hugged her Rabbit from behind. “I’m sorry, Rabbit.” Thinking of her grandfather, her heart grew heavy. It was her happiest day, yet she had to let her Rabbit be “wronged” (by the lack of a grand celebration).
Su Yi’an understood. “Marrying Sister is enough to make me happy. Just a hug is fine.” But you’d better compensate me later, she thought.
“Okay.” Lan Yan hugged her tighter.
Time passed quickly. When they stepped out together, there were only ten minutes until the ceremony. Suddenly, a scream erupted from the pavilion. It was the middle-aged couple: “He’s… he’s dead! It’s not our fault! He died on his own!”
A death on a wedding day was a terrible omen. Su Yi’an and Lan Yan looked up to see Zhang Baiyang rolled off the pavilion, his lips purple. It looked like poisoning.
Su Yi’an used her mental power to check. He was indeed dead. She clenched her fists. After all her precautions, she hadn’t expected Zhang Baiyang to disgust them in this final, ultimate way.
