The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 74
Chapter 74
“Mmh, go ahead.”
Lan Yan set down her phone and took Su Yi’an’s hand again. Her usually cold eyes were now brimming with tenderness.
Su Yi’an looked into her eyes, her voice faltering. Suddenly, she lost the courage to speak. This beautiful woman was just one step away from becoming her wife. If she lost her now because she had deceived her about her identity…
She didn’t want to experience that suffocating heartache she felt earlier tonight ever again. But deceiving Sister was a major fault; between wives, there should be no secrets.
Su Yi’an was so conflicted that cold sweat broke out on her forehead and back. Her lips moved, trying to start again.
Lan Yan suddenly laughed. She squeezed her hand, pulled out a tissue, and meticulously wiped the sweat from Su Yi’an’s face. “Why so nervous? Is it something difficult to say? Rabbit, you can take your time. Think it through before you speak.”
“Sister…”
Su Yi’an’s voice suddenly choked up. She pulled Lan Yan into a hug but didn’t dare reveal everything. She only tested the waters: “Sister, if I lied to you about something, would you… not want me anymore?”
Lan Yan froze. She hadn’t expected this. A bad premonition flickered in her heart, making her face turn pale for a moment. “Do you have another Omega out there?”
If the Rabbit was intentionally deceiving her, that was the only thing she could think of. If that were true, she truly wouldn’t want her. She, Lan Yan, was the CEO of the Lan Corporation; she was too proud to share an Alpha with another Omega. Just the thought of it caused her a sharp pang of heartache, similar to the moment she heard about her grandfather’s condition.
Hearing the change in Sister’s tone, Su Yi’an hurried to clarify: “No, no! Whether it’s kissing, hugging, or marking, I’ve only ever had Sister. You’re the only one I like, and the only one I want to marry.”
She spoke quite loudly, causing Lan Yin—who was standing outside the door to fetch them to freeze. Her face flushed red, and her raised hand couldn’t bring itself to knock.
No wonder Senior Su seemed so ‘fragile’ in front of Auntie in the warehouse back then, Lan Yin thought. The usually taciturn Senior Su can actually say such shameless things in front of Auntie. It made her ears burn; this was nothing like the person she imagined. She felt she shouldn’t be listening to this, but her Fourth Uncle had sent her to get Lan Yan. Should she knock or not?
Immersed in her emotions, Su Yi’an didn’t realize someone outside was even more conflicted than she was.
Lan Yan’s face turned from white to red. She gave the hugging Rabbit a bashful glare and pinched her ear, though her voice softened like it had been dipped in water: “Then what else are you hiding? Confess everything, or else, Rabbit, you’ll be sleeping under the bed tonight.”
“And, you’re not allowed to flirt with other Omegas behind my back.”
This bad Rabbit, Lan Yan thought, we’re getting married tomorrow, why say such things now and disturb my heart?
Lan Yan’s grip on her ear was incredibly light, her tone full of playfulness, and her last sentence held a hint of possessiveness. Clearly, she was in a good mood. Su Yi’an’s heart felt like it was on a roller coaster, bobbing up and down with anxiety.
She greedily inhaled Sister’s scent and said uneasily: “Sister, actually… I’m not as poor as you think. Can I be the one to buy the wedding dresses and the rings?”
Su Yi’an still didn’t dare speak plainly, so she changed her phrasing. She had decided: once she married Sister, if necessary, she would hand over her company and money to Old Man Su and let him kick her out of the family. That way, she would truly become a “poor student.”
Lan Yan didn’t catch the deeper meaning. She stroked Su Yi’an’s hair. “You can, but it’s probably too late to prepare them now. My people have already arranged everything. After tomorrow’s ceremony, we can hold another, more grand wedding later. You can be in charge of that one, okay?”
She thought it was some major secret. Is the Rabbit just being stubborn because she’s afraid I’ll look down on her for being poor? She loved this person; how could she look down on her? But since her Rabbit wanted to contribute, she wouldn’t shoot down her pride.
“Grandpa… he might not be able to wait for you to prepare,” Lan Yan added, her voice carrying a hint of a sob.
Affected by her grief, Su Yi’an felt a pang in her chest. She reached up, gently cupped Lan Yan’s face, and kissed her. “Sister, I’ll be with you from now on.”
“Mmh.” The sorrow on Lan Yan’s face lessened slightly. “Tomorrow morning, as soon as the Civil Affairs Bureau opens, we’ll go get our certificate. Do you have all your documents? If not, I’ll have someone fetch them for you.”
Su Yi’an: “I have them, Sister.” All her important items were in her backpack, which she carried at all times, ready to marry Sister at a moment’s notice.
Lan Yan remembered something and suddenly asked: “The wedding is in the afternoon. Rabbit, should we invite your second uncle and aunt?”
The relationship between that middle-aged couple and the Rabbit seemed poor, but they were her relatives after all. She wanted to respect the Rabbit’s wishes. This wedding was rushed, mostly for her grandfather’s sake, so only family was attending.
Su Yi’an’s face paled, and she quickly said: “No need, Sister. If they knew I was marrying you, they’d likely make a scene. Let’s not let them disturb Grandpa.”
Recalling the scene where the uncle and aunt tried to force the Rabbit to marry the village chief’s son, Lan Yan frowned. “Okay, we’ll do as you say.” As the Rabbit said, a scene at the wedding would only make Grandpa more uncomfortable. She couldn’t let Grandpa worry about them in his final moments.
Lan Yan paused and explained the day’s events: “Rabbit, Grandpa’s situation was sudden today, so I didn’t have time to notify you in advance. My phone died right then, so I asked my cousin to pick you up. He… didn’t make things difficult for you, did he?”
Su Yi’an’s hand tightened. “No, Sister. Cousin was very good to me.”
She knew Sister wasn’t in a state to drive. Although Lan Yu hadn’t given her a single kind look since finding out about her relationship with Lan Yan, he hadn’t truly bullied her. If Lan Yu wanted to be difficult, it wouldn’t be just a simple look of disdain the book described him as quite a formidable character. A little harmless glaring was nothing. Since Sister’s family would soon be hers, she didn’t want Lan Yan to be caught in the middle.
Lan Yan didn’t say anything, but her gaze grew increasingly tender. She knew Lan Yu’s attitude; her Rabbit had been wronged lately. Since they were all close to her, she couldn’t say much, but she would do her best to protect the Rabbit. She believed that once they were officially married, her brothers would treat the Rabbit as family for her sake. Besides, they wouldn’t be living at the old residence permanently after the wedding.
The two hugged, smelling each other’s familiar scents and enjoying a moment of peace. The warm scene was broken by a loud cough from Lan Yin.
Regarding Senior Su and her aunt being together, Lan Yin was shocked and surprised, but not opposed. She felt Senior Su had a clean reputation at school and wasn’t the type to toy with her aunt’s feelings. And her aunt certainly wasn’t some naive, love-struck girl; she trusted her aunt’s judgment.
So, even knowing they were marrying tomorrow morning, she felt like she was in a dream rather than feeling any negative emotions. But her aunt and… no, “Auntie Rabbit”—were getting more and more intimate with their words. She couldn’t listen anymore, and her Fourth Uncle was rushing her, so she had to be the “bad guy.”
After coughing twice, Lan Yin turned around, facing away from the door. “Auntie, Second and Third Uncles are looking for you.”
The two inside were startled. The embarrassment they had forgotten suddenly rushed back, their faces turning redder by the second. After a moment, Lan Yan let go of her Rabbit and stood up. “I’m coming.”
She assumed it was about her grandfather and didn’t think much of it. Before leaving, she turned to Su Yi’an: “Wait for me to come back.”
Su Yi’an nodded obediently. She had only vaguely alluded to her identity, but seeing Sister’s reaction, it seemed she hadn’t caught on. Su Yi’an’s mood was more complex than ever. She still lacked the courage to say everything, and it felt like she had missed the best window for a confession. Watching Sister leave, she frustratedly ruffled her hair.
“Let’s go.” Lan Yan stepped out. Seeing her niece looking even more awkward than she felt, she suddenly became quite composed.
Lan Yin and Lan Yan left together. Consequently, they didn’t notice Lan Yu entering the room after they left.
The moment she sensed someone entering, Su Yi’an adjusted her emotions. But seeing Lan Yu’s dark face, her eyes couldn’t help but twitch. What is this future brother-in-law doing here at this hour? If he wants to stop the marriage, I’m absolutely not agreeing.
Before Su Yi’an could speak, Lan Yu said bluntly: “Our Lan family has never had a precedent for marrying off an Omega. So…”
Su Yi’an suddenly smiled, interrupting him: “I get it, Brother. I’ll ‘marry’ into the Lan family. I’ll do the laundry, cook, and take care of the kids. The kids can take Sister’s last name. If our relationship fails and we divorce, I’ll leave with nothing.”
As long as he wasn’t opposing the marriage, she didn’t care about the labels. She’d even give the entire Su family fortune to Sister if she had to. Besides, Sister was so gentle and understanding; she wouldn’t let her be mistreated. Being with Sister was a win for her no matter how you calculated it. These basic things were things she would do anyway out of her love for Sister.
Lan Yu: “…”
The little Alpha’s response was even more thorough than his own demands. He felt like he had punched a bale of cotton—no impact at all. And that “Brother” came out way too naturally. Lan Yu, who had walked in aggressively, now didn’t know whether to sit or stand. He turned around and walked out, his tone softening slightly: “You better mean what you say.”
Since things had reached this point, everyone in the Lan family, including himself, just wanted Lan Yan to be happy. Since this little Alpha agreed to the matrilocal arrangement, they could keep an eye on her.
“Naturally.”
Su Yi’an was in a great mood. She even stood up to see him off: “Brother, won’t you stay a bit longer?” She actually wanted to chat with him about things related to Sister. Maybe he could remind her of things she hadn’t thought of.
Lan Yu paused for a split second, then walked away even faster, as if a venomous beast were chasing him.
Su Yi’an shook her head, sat back down, and took her household registration booklet out of her backpack, a smile tugging at her lips. The marriage certificate will look even better. Tomorrow, I get to collect it with Sister.
Not long after Lan Yu left, Lan Yan returned, followed by two servants carrying wedding dresses and various jewelry. Once they left, Lan Yan placed her hand on one of the dresses and said to Su Yi’an: “Rabbit, come and try it on.”
It was nearly 10 PM, and the room was incredibly quiet. Su Yi’an looked at Sister standing under the light, smiling as she invited her to try the dress. Her heart fluttered wildly. If the timing weren’t so inappropriate, she really wanted to pull Sister onto the wooden bed behind them.
Trying on a wedding dress was a hassle so late at night. Su Yi’an could tell at a glance that the dress was her size, but since Sister invited her, she didn’t mind the trouble.
“Will Sister help me?”
The dress was a relatively simple style, not hard to put on, but in this moment, she wanted Sister to watch. Su Yi’an cast aside all her shyness and spoke boldly.
Lan Yan’s hand on the dress stiffened. Facing the little Alpha’s pleading eyes, she eventually nodded. She had initially worried her Rabbit who only ever wore casual clothes wouldn’t know how to put it on, but hearing her say it so bluntly made her want to retreat.
As the little Alpha stepped closer, her hot breath fanning against her face, Lan Yan’s eyes flickered, and she avoided her gaze. “Rabbit… not tonight.” The fire in the little Alpha’s eyes was almost visible, but because of her grandfather, she wasn’t in the mood.
Su Yi’an felt a bit wronged and stopped in her tracks. “Sister, not even a hug?” She wasn’t an insensitive person, but she just wanted a hug to soothe her body’s restlessness. She hadn’t expected to be rejected even for that.
Fine, Sister is sad enough about Grandpa; I shouldn’t cause more trouble. Thinking it through, Su Yi’an picked up the dress. “I won’t hug you then. I’ll just try it on myself.” When she was with Sister, she really feared she wouldn’t be able to control herself.
Lan Yan: “…” She had thought the Rabbit wanted to… which was why she refused.
“I’ll do it.” As the little Alpha turned away dejectedly, Lan Yan grabbed her, a blush creeping onto her face.
The process of trying on the dress was short, but for Su Yi’an, it felt like an eternity—long enough that she felt she had already spent a lifetime with the person she loved. The moment Sister’s cool fingers pulled up the zipper, it was both painful and blissful. The bliss came from Sister dressing her; the pain came from the fact that it was over too soon.
Lan Yan looked at the Rabbit in the white wedding dress and dazed off for a moment. Clothes really do make the person. The Rabbit was even more beautiful like this. If she looked like this without makeup, how would she look when she was fully prepared? But no matter how beautiful, she was her bride. Thinking of this, Lan Yan felt a small surge of pride.
Su Yi’an didn’t miss her dazed expression and purposefully spun around in front of her. “How is it, Sister? Sister, do you want to try yours too?” Usually, it was her staring at Sister; it felt great to see Sister staring at her for once.
“It’s beautiful.” My most beautiful bride. Lan Yan sighed sincerely. As for the other question, she shook her head: “Mine was made to my measurements, no need to try it. It’s late, Rabbit, let’s rest early.” Tomorrow would be busy; they would be exhausted if they didn’t sleep well.
Su Yi’an knew this, so after a brief moment of disappointment, she obediently agreed.
They went to bed early but neither could sleep. Su Yi’an was excited about the marriage and worried about her identity, while Lan Yan’s thoughts were even more complex. Fortunately, after Lan Yu’s talk with Su Yi’an, no one came to disturb them, even though they were blatantly sleeping in the same room.
Su Yi’an thought her words had worked, unaware that the Lan brothers had intended to make them sleep separately, only to be warned off by Old Master Lan and talked down by Lan Yan.
The moon hung high, casting a silver glow. The night insects gradually grew quiet. After a long time, Su Yi’an noticed Sister’s breathing hadn’t leveled out into sleep. She gently reached over and pulled her close. “Sister can’t sleep?”
“Mmh.” Lan Yan didn’t open her eyes but nestled into her arms. The heat from her body finally settled Lan Yan’s restless heart.
Su Yi’an was at a loss. “Should I tell Sister a story?” She knew Sister was overthinking, but she didn’t have a better way to help her sleep.
Lan Yan chuckled and hugged her back. “Silly Rabbit, just sleep.” Telling stories was for children. Compared to her, the Rabbit was the child. Su Yi’an was momentarily confused, not knowing what Sister was laughing at. Besides, she wasn’t silly she was definitely smarter than Chen Zhi.
Perhaps comforted by the familiar scent, they both eventually drifted off.
They only slept for a few hours. At 6 AM, they were woken by Lan Yan’s alarm before the sun was fully up. After washing up, Lan Yan handed a new black-and-white outfit to Su Yi’an. “Let’s wear this for the marriage photos.” She had only told her staff to prepare “wedding items,” and they had even prepared matching outfits for the registration. Though they weren’t extraordinarily fancy, they suited Lan Yan’s taste.
When they emerged in the matching outfits, the rest of the Lan family was already busy—some tending to the Old Master, others decorating the wedding site. The usually quiet old residence had suddenly become lively.
Su Yi’an looked at the busy Lan brothers and felt like laughing. Is this ‘saying no with the mouth but being honest with the body’?
As soon as they appeared, they caught Old Master Lan’s attention. He pushed aside Lan Yin who was carefully supporting him and strode toward them like nothing was wrong, his face full of joy. “Yan Yan, Rabbit, are you going to get the certificate now? Isn’t it too early?”
“Great-grandfather, slow down!” Lan Yin chased after him, worried.
Lan Yan also disapproved and immediately supported him. “Grandpa, why don’t you sleep more?”
Grandpa Lan laughed. “How can I sleep when my granddaughter is getting married? Don’t worry about me, I’m fine. Yan Yan, I also invited your Grandpa Zhang, you don’t mind, do you?”
Lan Yan’s expression stiffened for a moment. “I don’t mind.” Grandpa Zhang was her grandfather’s best friend; it was only natural to invite him. However, since Grandpa Zhang had been shaken by the incident with Zhang Baiyang, his mobility was limited. Likely, he wouldn’t be coming alone. But word was that Zhang Baiyang had been thoroughly tamed by the “tigress” at his home. Even if he came, as long as people kept an eye on him, he shouldn’t be able to ruin the wedding.
Lan Yan’s change in expression was subtle. Not even Grandpa Lan noticed, let alone Su Yi’an.
It was too early to get the certificate since the bureau hadn’t opened yet. Lan Yan and Su Yi’an chatted with Grandpa Lan for a while before joining the others in the preparations. Around 10 AM, Su Yi’an drove Lan Yan to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Everything went smoothly; even the traffic lights were green all the way. By the time they stepped out with the little red booklets, Su Yi’an still felt like she was dreaming.
“Sister, we’re really married.” She held the red booklet and asked for the third time.
Outside the bureau, the little Alpha… no, her little wife… stood in the sunlight, looking at her with such intensity. Lan Yan felt surrounded by love. They had known each other for less than a month, yet it felt like they had been in a passionate relationship for a long time.
“Yes,” Lan Yan answered patiently, the smile in her eyes deepening.
Su Yi’an carefully tucked away the certificate and gripped Lan Yan’s hand. After checking that no one was around, she leaned in close. Lan Yan instinctively closed her eyes, but the expected kiss from her new wife didn’t come. Instead, hot breath fanned against her ear.
“Sister… can I call you… ‘Wife’?” Su Yi’an finally asked.
Lan Yan’s face heated up visibly. Her lips moved, but she found the word hard to say. That title… why ask me? Just call me whatever you want. Am I not your wife now?
Su Yi’an was still looking at her expectantly until Lan Yan felt like her head was about to smoke. Getting no answer, she asked again: “Can I, Sister?”
Just as Lan Yan was caught in her awkwardness, a middle-aged couple walked into the bureau, arguing loudly.
“Divorce! You dead woman, I’ve had enough!” “Fine, let’s divorce! This old lady has had enough of you too, you useless coward!” “Who are you calling useless? You shrew!”
The couple argued as they walked, and without looking, they bumped lightly into Lan Yan.
Su Yi’an’s pupils contracted. She shielded Lan Yan behind her and struck first: “Second Uncle? Second Aunt? Why are you here?”
