The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 49
Chapter 49
While Jiang Mu was busy checking Su Yi’an’s wounds, Lan Yan washed the dishes. There weren’t many to begin with, as Su Yi’an had already tidied up the kitchen while cooking. By the time Lan Yan came out, Jiang Mu had just finished his examination.
His expression was exceptionally solemn, causing Lan Yan to tense up instantly. However, her face remained impassive and her voice calm as she asked, “Is her injury very serious?”
If Jiang Mu didn’t know her so well and hadn’t noticed her slightly frantic steps as she approached he might have truly believed she was that composed.
“Mhm,” Jiang Mu nodded, intentionally teasing her. “It’s very serious.”
As expected, Lan Yan’s footsteps faltered. Her face turned visibly pale, and her voice carried a hint of a sob. “How serious? Is it her head or her gland?”
Was it because they hadn’t sought medical attention immediately after the fall? Or had the injury to the Alpha’s gland worsened? She shouldn’t have been soft-hearted yesterday; she should have taken the girl to the hospital for early treatment. The young Alpha already faced the tragedy of not being able to have children; how much more serious could this be? Did the fall cause a concussion, or was it life-threatening?
Lan Yan stood still, her mind racing through a thousand scenarios until she felt a dizzying sensation.
Even Su Yi’an sensed that something was wrong with Lan Yan’s emotions. She shot a silent glare at Jiang Mu and took Lan Yan’s hand. “Sister, I’m fine. Dr. Jiang is just joking with you.”
No matter who it was, making her “Sister” suffer was wrong.
Lan Yan squeezed Su Yi’an’s hand back, patting it reassuringly. “I know.” She assumed the Alpha was just trying to bear everything alone to keep her from worrying—that was just her nature.
“I really am fine, Sister. Don’t worry,” Su Yi’an whispered, leaning closer. To Lan Yan’s ears, the girl’s low, raspy voice and slightly red eyes made it seem like she was putting on a brave face despite the pain.
“I won’t let anything happen to you,” Lan Yan replied softly. This injured “rabbit” was so sensible it made her heart ache. From certain angles, the two of them looked as though they were embracing and kissing against the backdrop of the sunset.
Jiang Mu: “…” He felt like a total nuisance. In Lan Yan’s heart, there was only her “Little Alpha.”
“Lan Lan,” Jiang Mu coughed loudly, pulling a bottle of medicine from his bag. “Can you let me finish? Save the hugging for after I leave. A single person can’t take this kind of ‘damage,’ thank you.”
Lan Yan withdrew her hand. “Go on.”
Jiang Mu slammed the medicine onto the table. “For the head injury, apply this every three hours. As for the gland, I can’t say for sure yet, but it hasn’t worsened; in fact, it seems to be improving. If you need pheromones in the future, you won’t need those induction drugs anymore.”
Jiang Mu, curious about the strange placement of the head injury, pressed for details. Su Yi’an flushed a deep red and remained silent, stealing glances at Lan Yan.
“It happened because of me,” Lan Yan said, steadying her nerves. “She slipped in the bathroom.”
The vague explanation made Jiang Mu’s imagination run wild. He didn’t ask further, only muttering, “I see. Well, just apply the medicine for a few days to reduce the swelling. I’m leaving now.”
“Dr. Jiang,” Su Yi’an suddenly spoke up. “Can I just apply the medicine once tonight?”
She didn’t want to go back to school late at night or visit a clinic. She hoped her clever “Sister” would take the hint and let her stay the night.
“No,” Jiang Mu replied without looking back. He was actually trying to help Lan Yan. He knew Lan Yan was reserved and the Alpha was shy; he wanted to give them a reason to be close to solve Lan Yan’s pheromone disorder.
After Jiang Mu left, Lan Yan sat on the sofa with the medicine. “Stay here tonight,” she said in a tone that brooked no argument overbearing yet heart-stirring. “I’ll help you with the medicine, and we can head to the club practice at Mt. Miao together tomorrow.”
Su Yi’an felt a rush of joy and sat obediently beside her. As Lan Yan applied the medicine, she worried about the upcoming trip. What if her niece, Lan Yin, or the other students noticed their relationship? The thought made her accidentally apply a bit too much pressure.
“Sister… what’s wrong?” Su Yi’an asked.
Lan Yan realized she had been too forceful. Fearing she had hurt the girl’s pride, she softened her voice. “Stay. I’ll help you with the medicine. We’ll leave early tomorrow.”
“Sister…” Su Yi’an looked at her with eyes like fire. “I just don’t want to disturb your rest.” She had noticed Lan Yan yawning and the dark circles under her eyes.
Lan Yan misunderstood, her face turning crimson. Did the Alpha think she was inviting her to sleep in the master bedroom? But then she thought, it wasn’t the first time they’d slept together.
“Don’t worry about it,” Lan Yan said, leading the way to the bedroom. “Early night. I’ll set the alarm.”
Inside the master bedroom, Su Yi’an felt her heart racing. She decided that since Lan Yan was so tired, she wouldn’t tease her tonight and would let her sleep peacefully.
Lan Yan came out of the shower, smelling of fresh water. She started setting multiple alarms on her phone for every three hours.
“Sister, use mine,” Su Yi’an suggested, getting up. She didn’t want Lan Yan to be exhausted.
“It’s fine, I’ve already set them,” Lan Yan replied.
Su Yi’an resorted to a lie: “Sister, I can’t sleep if I hear unfamiliar ringtones. Can we use mine?”
Lan Yan couldn’t refuse such a small request. She deleted her alarms and let Su Yi’an set them on the Alpha’s phone. However, an hour after Lan Yan fell asleep, Su Yi’an quietly disabled every single alarm.
Consequently, both of them slept soundly until morning.
But when Lan Yan woke up the next morning, her mood was anything but pleasant. She found herself once again in the Alpha’s embrace, their bodies pressed tight, and Su Yi’an’s robe was slightly disheveled.
More importantly, she realized she hadn’t heard a single alarm.
This meant the Little Alpha had lied to her.
