The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 47
Chapter 47
“Young girls all like Overbearing CEOs?”
Lan Yan understood the word “CEO” because she was one, but she didn’t quite grasp the adjective “Overbearing.” The young Alpha was also a young girl; did she like that too?
Though she didn’t understand it, Lan Yan took the phrase to heart. After lunch, she returned to her office and began searching online. Most of the results were web novels, and not a single one offered a useful explanation. Since she never read fiction, she gave up.
When her secretary walked in with documents, Lan Yan glanced at her and asked as if casually, “Am I… overbearing?”
Secretary: “…” What does President Lan mean? How should I answer? Did some idiot gossip in front of her?
While Lan Yan was cold, she was fair, rarely lost her temper, and the company benefits were several times better than the industry average. How was she overbearing? “Overbearing” didn’t exactly sound like a compliment.
The secretary weighed her words carefully. “President Lan is very considerate of her subordinates and has a wonderful personality. Everyone in the company likes you very much.”
It wasn’t a direct answer, but it implied she wasn’t “overbearing,” nor was she the kind of “Overbearing CEO” young girls liked.
Lan Yan felt a bit disappointed. She looked at the secretary, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk—tap, tap, tap—making the secretary’s heart race. The secretary began to panic: Was it her report? Or was it because she mentioned the mark on Lan Yan’s neck earlier? To a private person like the CEO, that could be seen as an intrusion.
Finally, the tapping stopped. Lan Yan spoke: “I heard people from the design department at the restaurant talking about ‘Overbearing CEOs.’ What does that mean? What is an Overbearing CEO?”
Her voice was still flat, but it was clearly a question out of curiosity, not anger.
The secretary let out a massive sigh of relief. “They were likely talking about a hit TV drama. The male lead is an Overbearing CEO, and he’s very popular with young girls. If you’re interested, President Lan, you could watch it.”
So that was it. The secretary finally understood. But Lan Yan was never interested in such things—why the sudden question? To be honest, the secretary had watched that show too; it was full of clichés and the male lead’s lines were a bit “greasy,” yet it was strangely addictive. There was even a popular meme: “I’m a bumpkin and I love watching this…”
It was hard to imagine the ethereal Lan Yan watching that kind of show. It felt completely out of place. The secretary wanted to laugh but held it in.
“I don’t like it,” Lan Yan said, shaking her head. Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from the young Alpha saying she was back at school and eating lunch. There was even a photo attached.
It was a selfie. The background was the school cafeteria. The Alpha’s clean, fair hand was holding chopsticks, picking up a single piece of green vegetable. It looked incredibly bland. But that face… it was beautiful to the extreme.
Seeing those slender, white fingers, Lan Yan’s heart skipped a beat. She abruptly put her phone away and tried to keep her voice steady. “What’s it called?”
“Huh?” The secretary was baffled.
“The TV drama. What’s the name?” Lan Yan asked again, looking back at her phone to type a simple “Mhm” in reply. But her eyes kept drifting back to the Alpha’s hand in the photo. It was those hands that had made her experience something “different,” making her feel less and less like herself.
Looking closer at the photo, Lan Yan noticed two girls standing not far behind the Alpha, staring at her with flushed faces and eyes full of joy. Clearly, He Xia was right the young Alpha was very charismatic at school, charming girls even while just eating lunch.
Lan Yan’s lips pressed into a thin line. On an impulse, she typed: “The food looks like it has no nutrition. Don’t eat at that cafeteria anymore. Come to my place.”
That was the cheapest cafeteria at Beijing University. She had eaten there once years ago and found a green caterpillar. She hadn’t eaten on campus since.
Secretary: “…” She just said she didn’t like it, and the next second she’s asking for the name. Is she that ‘duplicity’ type? Like the girls who scold the CEO for being greasy but never miss an episode.
It seemed even the “goddess” Lan Yan was just a regular person who couldn’t escape certain Omega traits. The secretary gave her the name of the show: Wolf A and Rabbit O.
Back at school, Su Yi’an had sent the selfie because she missed Lan Yan. She had picked her best-looking shot. She was anxious, fearing she was being too forward, when she suddenly saw the message.
Does Sister mean… I should go to her house to eat from now on?
She was so happy she wanted to shout. But then, the message was deleted after only two seconds. Su Yi’an’s breath hitched, and she quickly typed “Okay,” signifying she had seen the retracted content.
At this point, Su Yi’an didn’t care about appearing too eager. Her sister had finally taken the initiative to invite her home for dinner; only a fool would refuse.
On the other side, Lan Yan regretted the message immediately and retracted it. But seeing the “Okay” from the Alpha, she felt conflicted. This wasn’t like her. She had never even invited her good friend Jiang Mu over for dinner like this. They were becoming too close—the contract was becoming a mere formality.
But the Alpha had already seen it. Would it be bad to take it back? The girl’s pride was fragile, after all. Besides, Su Yi’an seemed to know her tastes perfectly.
As Lan Yan sat in a daze, her expression changing like a kaleidoscope, the secretary was spooked. “President Lan… is there anything else? If not, I’ll get back to work.”
“Wait.” Lan Yan looked up. “What did you say the drama was called?”
“Wolf A and Rabbit O.”
Sounds like a cartoon, Lan Yan thought. The young Alpha likes cartoons, so she must like this show too.
Since she was free that afternoon, she decided to see what this “Overbearing CEO” nonsense was all about. After the secretary left, she searched for it on her computer. As for how to reply to the Alpha, she decided not to. The girl had the spare key; she could come if she wanted. It was her cooking anyway.
By the time she got to the scene where the male lead pins the female lead against a wall, kisses her, and says, “Woman, you’re playing with fire,” Lan Yan’s eyes widened.
So this is what young girls like? Wall-slamming?
She felt a strange discomfort, like being forced to drink a bowl of lard. She felt a bit nauseous and the hair on her arms stood up. Real CEOs weren’t like that they would look sick.
Yet… thinking about pinning the young Alpha into a corner, holding her hands, biting her lip, and seeing her flushed face… saying those words suddenly felt a bit… stimulating. Who wouldn’t want to bully a well-behaved little rabbit?
But she could never say such a thing. She couldn’t learn to be “overbearing.” Still, if young girls liked it, the Alpha probably did too. Lan Yan sighed and snapped her computer shut. What she likes is none of my business. We’re just in a contract.
At 6:30 PM, Lan Yan emerged from the company building. Walking against the light, she looked like a goddess.
Su Yi’an, who had been waiting in a milk tea shop across the street for nearly an hour, immediately stood up and called her. “Sister… I’m here.”
At the sound of the ringtone, Lan Yan saw the young Alpha walking toward her. She looked just like the “young lover” who comes to pick up the Overbearing CEO from work in those dramas.
Lan Yan instinctively swallowed. Her face was cold, but her heart was racing. She looked at the girl, her lips curling up slightly despite herself. “What are you doing here?”
Why come here instead of going straight to the house? Didn’t I give you the spare key?
