The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Su Yi’an insisted on not letting Lan Yan lift a finger. In the end, Lan Yan was persuaded out of the kitchen. After a long, busy day, she was happy to enjoy the leisure.
Just then, Jiang Mu approached her with the test results, his expression heavy and his voice low. “It’s sterilization. You understand the consequences—it’s incurable. With the current population crisis, many young people don’t want children, so this stuff is unfortunately common on the market.”
He continued with a look of sympathy: “I’m afraid that little Alpha will never be able to have children of her own. But don’t worry—if you’re only after her pheromones, I have some medications that can help her. In fact, for you, this isn’t entirely a bad thing. Even if you two go all the way, there’s no risk of pregnancy.”
Lan Yan looked at Su Yi’an as she walked out with a dish. Her pupils contracted, and she swallowed the words she was about to say to keep it a secret. She was never good at comforting people, so she could only offer a dry: “Technology is very advanced now. Don’t be too sad. You might still have children in the future.”
This drug was common but expensive—thousands of yuan per dose. It wasn’t something low-level thugs could afford. Combined with the fact that Zhang Baiyang came to block her tonight, it was likely he had provided the drug to the thugs. Zhang Baiyang probably already knew she was looking for an Alpha to solve her pheromone issues, and the girl was clearly a victim of her association with her.
Thinking of this, Lan Yan’s guilt deepened.
Su Yi’an, of course, wasn’t sad. She had known this since the system told her. Her concern was never about children.
She calmly placed the stir-fried beef and vegetables on the table. “I’m not sad. I’m just worried that if this is the case, I won’t be able to help Sister anymore. Will Sister… not want me?” Her eyes held a trace of hurt.
Lan Yan’s breath hitched. She quickly replied, “You can. I won’t.”
Setting aside the fact that Su Yi’an was injured saving Lan Yin, they had a signed agreement. She wasn’t the type to discard someone. Even if the pheromones failed, she could find someone else; she wouldn’t shortchange Su Yi’an a single cent. Besides, Jiang Mu said there was a way.
“Thank you, Sister.” Su Yi’an lowered her eyes and returned to the kitchen to bring out the poached shrimp and steamed fish. A fleeting smile crossed her lips. She set them down. “Sister, try these and see if they suit your taste.”
She remembered Lan Yin saying Sister Grape preferred lighter food lately.
Lan Yan: “Very good.”
Jiang Mu proactively served the rice, taking a deep breath of the aroma. “Satisfied! It smells amazing. The fish and shrimp are all Lan Lan’s favorites. Little girl, you’ve been thoughtful. Sit down, I can’t wait to eat!”
Su Yi’an was about to sit next to Lan Yan when her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, her expression shifted slightly. “Sorry, Sister. I need to take this. Please start without me.”
Lan Yan nodded. Su Yi’an stepped away to the balcony, keeping her voice low.
“Hello?”
Before she could say more, the voice on the other end erupted: “An’an! Are you in the Flower Kingdom? Go check out the little girl from the Lan family! You were born on the same year, month, and day—if that isn’t fate, what is? Your Uncle Lan and I even joked about a betrothal back then. I heard she’s quite the talent and graduating soon. Go see her! If you like her, your mom and I will formally propose. You’re not young anymore, and you haven’t found an Omega in years—your father is worried sick!”
Su Yi’an’s gaze went blank. Once he finished, she replied flatly, “I don’t like her. Also, I don’t recognize things that don’t exist.”
So, the legendary “arranged marriage” was with Lan Yin. No wonder the name sounded familiar. She liked Lan Yin, but it was purely the affection an elder has for a junior.
“You haven’t even met! How do you know? Feelings can be nurtured! An’an, listen to me—”
Su Yi’an interrupted him: “I have things to do. Hanging up.”
She returned to the table looking displeased. Lan Yan assumed it was family drama and didn’t pry; she simply pushed a bowl of rice toward her. Jiang Mu was too busy eating to talk, only managing to praise her: “Your cooking is better than a pro’s. Delicious!”
He looked at Lan Yan while stuffing his face. “Lan Lan, can I come over for dinner whenever I’m off duty?”
When both remained silent, Jiang Mu gave an awkward laugh. “Haha, just kidding. I don’t have that much time anyway.”
Su Yi’an stole a glance at Lan Yan. “If Sister wants to eat, she can call me anytime.”
The agreement said they only met every two weeks, so even if she wanted to cook for them every day, she didn’t have the chance.
“We’ll see,” Lan Yan said, putting down her chopsticks and picking up her juice. Her eyes were unreadable.
After dinner, Jiang Mu took over the cleaning. Lan Yan and Su Yi’an fell silent. Seeing Lan Yan check the time, Su Yi’an stood up responsibly. “Sister, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to school.”
“I’ll see you out,” Lan Yan stood up without asking her to stay. Her new home had two rooms but only one set of bedding. Both Su Yi’an and Jiang Mu were technically “opposite genders” to her; she didn’t want either to stay. She had never let anyone sleep over before.
Su Yi’an checked the time and shook her head. “No need, Sister. I’ll take a taxi.”
It was nearly 11:00 PM. She saw Lan Yan yawn several times. Even though she wanted to stay, she didn’t want to exhaust her.
Jiang Mu walked out of the kitchen, drying his hands. “I drove here today. Little girl, where do you live? I’ll drop you off.”
“Capital University. Thanks, A-Mu,” Lan Yan answered for her. She was worried Su Yi’an would refuse out of pride. A taxi would cost over twenty yuan—not much to Lan Yan, but likely a day’s worth of living expenses for someone of Su Yi’an’s “background.”
Su Yi’an swallowed her refusal.
“No trouble at all,” Jiang Mu said, reaching for his medical bag.
However, before he could put on his shoes, thunder rolled outside. The rain that had been brewing since dinner suddenly cascaded down in a torrential downpour. The wind was so strong it knocked over the balcony plants.
“Wait until it stops,” Lan Yan said, quickly closing the windows.
Jiang Mu kicked off his shoes and grinned at Su Yi’an. “Looks like the heavens want you to stay. Put your slippers back on, little girl.” With this rain, the streets would be flooded in thirty minutes. As a novice driver, he didn’t dare risk it.
Su Yi’an sat back down. This rain is falling right into my heart, she thought.
An hour later, the rain showed no signs of stopping. Lan Yan gave up on sending them away. She was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open. “There’s only one thin blanket in the house. If you’re not afraid of catching a cold, stay the night.”
“I’m fine with it! I’ll take the sofa,” Jiang Mu replied.
“I’ll take the sofa,” Su Yi’an and Lan Yan said simultaneously. They locked eyes and quickly looked away.
Jiang Mu chuckled and headed for the guest room. “Fine, fine, I won’t argue. But little girl, your injury isn’t fully healed—don’t catch a cold.”
Su Yi’an ignored him and looked at Lan Yan stubbornly. “I’ll sleep on the sofa, Sister.”
Lan Yan had a headache. She simply grabbed Su Yi’an’s hand. “We’re both sleeping in the bed. Come with me.”
Since the girl couldn’t be persuaded, it was the only way. Besides, the girl’s gland and pheromones were currently compromised; she was no different from a regular girl. A night together shouldn’t be a problem. Looking at Su Yi’an’s face, Lan Yan was certain she wouldn’t do anything inappropriate.
Stunned, Su Yi’an was pulled into the bedroom by Lan Yan.
