The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 23
Chapter 23
“I’m fine, just my neck hurts a bit,” Su Yi’an insisted firmly.
She had never exposed her legs or chest in front of others and had no intention of letting a strange male Omega see them now. Strictly speaking, she shouldn’t even let him see her nape, but since she wasn’t originally from this world, letting a doctor check her gland didn’t bother her much.
Jiang Mu glanced at the girl sitting as far away from him as possible on the sofa, looking at him like he was a virus. Helpless, he turned to Lan Yan, who was pouring tea. “Lan Lan, look at your little friend…”
He had realized that while this girl seemed introverted, she was incredibly stubborn and only listened to Lan Yan.
Clink.
Lan Yan set the teacup on the table. “Let Dr. Jiang have a look.”
Perhaps sensing her tone was too blunt, she pulled a new phone box from a cabinet and softened her voice. “Once you’re finished, this phone is yours. Consider it… compensation.”
Jiang Mu’s eyes widened. “The latest model from Banana Corp? That costs tens of thousands, doesn’t it?”
He knew Lan Yan’s personality; she was wealthy but never a fool with her money. Giving a girl she’d just met such an expensive phone made him seriously suspect she was catchng feelings.
Since Jiang Mu’s gaze was too pointed, Lan Yan felt forced to explain. “She saved Lan Yin, and her phone was destroyed.”
She had asked her secretary to buy this phone today for her own use. She had originally planned to just buy Su Yi’an a cheaper one later… but forget it. She couldn’t just ignore the girl’s injuries. The girl was probably mourning her broken phone; given her “background,” it was understandable.
I see. Jiang Mu nodded. That made sense. Lan Yan rarely said it out loud, but she doted on that niece of hers.
No one noticed the light of anticipation in Su Yi’an’s eyes dimming significantly.
“What’s wrong? You don’t like it?” Lan Yan asked when there was no response.
“Thank you, Sister,” Su Yi’an replied, instantly tucking away her emotions and taking the phone. Rounding up, this was the first gift Sister Grape had ever given her. How could she not like it?
The corner of Lan Yan’s mouth twitched upward. She sat across from Su Yi’an and took a sip of tea. So well-behaved, so obedient, so easy to deal with.
Su Yi’an stole a glance at Lan Yan, bit her lip, and quickly pulled off her T-shirt. Then, she placed her hand on the drawstring of her pants.
Pfft!
Lan Yan sprayed her tea. She frantically looked away, grabbing a tissue to wipe her mouth. “Stop right there!”
The image of a cute little bunny print on the girl’s underwear flashed through her mind, followed by a glimpse of a bruise and a firm, slightly muscled midriff. The bodies of the youth are truly…
Lan Yan lowered her eyes awkwardly. “Check her quickly,” she told Jiang Mu.
A flash of admiration crossed Jiang Mu’s eyes before he switched into professional mode. “Just surface bruises. Some ointment will do. Anywhere else?”
The little Alpha looked soft and “milky,” but her physical condition was incredible. He finally understood why his best friend kept this girl close—she must be enjoying herself quite a bit.
Seeing Lan Yan’s back turned, Su Yi’an discreetly withdrew her hand from her waistband and shook her head. If Sister wasn’t looking, there was no point in showing off the leg injury.
“Alright, put your clothes back on,” Jiang Mu sighed. Honestly, as an Omega who had experienced romance, facing such a stunning Alpha was a bit much.
Once Su Yi’an was dressed, Jiang Mu pulled out a blood collection needle. “The wound on your neck is healing well, but if it hurts, it’s likely that drug. I need a blood sample to analyze the components.”
Su Yi’an: “…” If I had known, I wouldn’t have mentioned the neck pain. She already knew what the drug was from the System, and she knew there was no cure in this world until she gathered 100 points for the Mall antidote.
“It suddenly doesn’t hurt anymore. No need,” Su Yi’an said, stiffening her neck as Jiang Mu approached with the needle.
Lan Yan turned back just in time. Knowing the girl was terrified of needles, she simply grabbed Su Yi’an’s hand, isolated her index finger, and signaled Jiang Mu. “Do it.”
Reliable. Lan Lan really has a way with this girl. Jiang Mu gave a silent thumbs up and quickly took the sample. “Results in an hour. Don’t mind me. Lan Lan, you can help her apply the meds. And if possible, order some takeout for me? I haven’t eaten all day and I’m starving.”
Lan Yan: “…” She looked at the two bottles of medicine and cotton swabs thrust into her hand, feeling a rare moment of helplessness.
Sister… helping her apply medicine? Su Yi’an’s face was practically steaming.
“I’ll do it myself. I don’t want to trouble Sister.” Su Yi’an snatched the medicine and bolted into the bathroom.
The injuries were on her front; Sister Grape would never agree to help with those. It was better to give her an out and leave a good impression.
In the bathroom, the blush faded. Su Yi’an removed her glasses and stared at her sharp, cold eyes in the mirror.
“Little Crybaby,” she murmured. “Both the most important things for a female Alpha are injured. Will Sister Grape despise me?”
System: “…No. Host, don’t be too sad.” Isn’t it just your gland and your finger? Wait, finger? Oh… The System remained silent. It was just a baby; it didn’t know anything!
“Your little friend is quite shy,” Jiang Mu laughed from the living room. “It’s rare to see a twenty-something Alpha this innocent. Lan Lan, I’m trying to create opportunities for you, and you don’t even cherish them.”
Lan Yan ignored him and pulled out her phone. “What do you want to eat?”
“Whatever you’re having,” Jiang Mu replied.
Lan Yan paused. “I’m not eating. I’ll order for you and her. I’m not hungry.” She was hungry, but she hated takeout. This apartment was a gift from her brother; she’d just moved in and didn’t have a cook yet. If takeout was the only option, she’d rather starve.
Su Yi’an walked out. “Sister, how about I cook?”
Jiang Mu looked up in surprise. “You can cook?” An Alpha who cooked in this fast-paced world? Even Omegas rarely did it anymore.
“I know some home-cooked dishes,” Su Yi’an said. She hated grease and smoke, but for Sister Grape, she’d be happy to. Plus, cooking meant more time together.
A spark of delight flashed in Lan Yan’s eyes. She handed her phone to Su Yi’an. “See what groceries we need.”
“What does Sister want to eat?” Su Yi’an asked, observing her. “Chicken, shrimp, fish, beef, ribs…?”
“Anything. I’m not picky,” Lan Yan said.
Su Yi’an noticed Lan Yan’s brow furrow slightly at “chicken” and “pork,” but smooth out at “fish, shrimp, and beef.” She placed an order for the latter, along with some greens, totaling about 300 yuan.
“Is this okay, Sister?”
“Yes. And order some pots and pans. I have nothing here,” Lan Yan said with dignified poise, though even Jiang Mu could feel the joy radiating from her.
“Lan Lan, you’ve found a treasure,” Jiang Mu teased.
Lan Yan handed the remote to Su Yi’an. “Watch whatever you like. Don’t be so formal.”
Su Yi’an wasn’t paying attention and clicked a random channel. “This one is fine.”
Lan Yan looked at her strangely as the Children’s Channel appeared on screen. “Do young people like cartoons?”
Su Yi’an looked at the cartoon bears on the screen. Her expression shattered. She’s going to think I’m childish. She sat there for thirty minutes in silent agony until the delivery arrived.
She grabbed the groceries and bolted for the kitchen. Lan Yan followed, rolling up her sleeves. “I’ll wash the vegetables.”
She couldn’t cook, but she felt she should help. Their agreement didn’t include “chef services,” and the girl was injured.
Su Yi’an looked at Lan Yan’s delicate, white hands. “I’ll do it, Sister. Go rest.”
Hands this beautiful are meant for clutching bedsheets, not for cooking, she thought.
