- Chapter 16 - Cannon Fodder Ex-Boyfriend 16 - Mistakes and Compensation, Schemes and Urgency
Is there really not a single normal person among this group?
Li Qingran tilted his head back to dodge Qi Ziyan’s hot, damp kiss. One of his hands pressed against the floor to support his body, while the other reached up to grab the Omega’s chin.
His icy fingertips sank into the soft cheeks. The freezing temperature did not calm the Omega down; instead, it seemed to excite him further. Slender fingers climbed up Li Qingran’s wrist like vines. The head that had been held high since the Alpha opened the door now drooped down.
The flesh of the cheek rubbed slowly against the pads of Li Qingran’s fingers before stopping when the Omega’s mouth reached the purlicue of the Alpha’s hand.
Li Qingran watched as Qi Ziyan impatiently opened his mouth. However, he didn’t bite down fiercely as he had in the private box before; instead, he stuck out a section of his pink tongue and tentatively licked the purlicue, which was taut due to the pressure of Li Qingran’s fingers.
“He really, just who exactly is in their rut right now?”
Li Qingran immediately yanked his hand away, his movement so fast it was as if he had been burned by fire.
“I told you, I don’t need your help,” the Alpha said with a frown.
Qi Ziyan’s lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing. He simply stared at Li Qingran, blinking slowly, and then took a step back.
A drop of water fell from beneath his lowered head, hitting the floor with a patter and spreading into a damp patch that carried a faint scent of honey.
Li Qingran didn’t care whether that damp patch continued to grow. He only lifted his gaze to search for the location of the suppressant and reached out, preparing to pick it up.
Clearly, he didn’t have much strength left. This didn’t actually align with the typical behavior of most Alphas during a rut; after all, Alphas at this time are usually irritable, moody, and extremely destructive.
However, Li Qingran guessed that those Alphas whose destructive power was strong enough to tear a house apart probably didn’t have an Omega by their side during their rut.
Once there is an Omega near them, especially one they do not wish to mark, yet who continues to release pheromones at them, it is truly more painful than a thousand cuts.
The cloying honey scent felt as if it had been poured onto him straight from a boiling pot. The scorching pheromones, seemingly mixed with sparks, triggered intense pain the moment they landed on the Alpha. Li Qingran even had the illusion that his skin was being scalded or peeled off; even a slight movement of his hand triggered greater waves of pain.
This burning sensation, as if his entire being had been thrown into boiling syrup, made Li Qingran focus solely on injecting the suppressant into his body. He needed to calm himself down and reduce the influence of the Omega’s pheromones.
Otherwise, if this stalemate continued, he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t lose his sanity entirely.
Marking an Omega was a small matter. The problem was that he didn’t want to create extra trouble for his path to “clocking off” work.
He had already been working “overtime” for so long.
“By the way, who was the second male lead’s official partner in the novel again?”
While Li Qingran’s mind wandered with random thoughts to distract himself, he moved toward the location of the suppressant. His clean, rounded fingertips soon touched the transparent glass tube containing the icy blue liquid. But before he could grasp it in his hand, his body froze a step ahead.
“You mother!”
The suppressant that was almost in his grasp was pushed away again. Li Qingran subconsciously grabbed Qi Ziyan’s hand as the latter tried to continue his actions.
“You!”
“Why are you rejecting me?” Qi Ziyan interrupted Li Qingran, moving closer to him inch by inch.
The item was still in his palm. Perhaps fearing he might hurt himself, the Alpha did not throw him off forcefully like before after grabbing his wrist.
He could only lean back against the shoe cabinet. The chest beneath his white shirt heaved up and down. His eyes, which had always looked at Qi Ziyan with distant politeness, were now slightly furrowed. A faint redness extended from his eye sockets to the corners of his eyes, and a hazy mist of tears began to fill his dark pupils.
He looked very fragile and easy to control. He was currently being controlled by him.
This realization made Qi Ziyan even more excited. He instinctively wanted to continue the movement of his hand, but before he could move an inch, the fingertips gripping his wrist suddenly tightened. Above him, the Alpha’s voice carried a hint of irritation.
“Master Qi, don’t go too far.”
The hand between the Alpha’s legs paused.
“Even like this, you still want to reject me? It was the same in the private box before. No matter how I begged you, you wouldn’t help me. And now, you won’t let me help you.”
To what extent did he have to take the initiative before the Alpha would be willing? Must he rot away completely?
The Omega spoke softly, his tone sounding extremely aggrieved.
But Li Qingran only found him inexplicable. They weren’t even close. Their only interaction was when the Omega and Gu Shiyu plotted together to trick him into leaving Su Jingyi, an attempt that ended in failure.
So he truly didn’t understand why the Omega was suddenly so obsessed with helping him. Didn’t the other party always say he was Su Jingyi’s best friend? Then if he wanted to help, he should go help Su Jingyi. If he wanted the two of them to break up, he should go persuade the other to stop being so brain-dead in love. Why keep entangling himself with a boyfriend who wanted to break up with Su Jingyi but couldn’t? And now he was even getting his hands on him.
“Can you wake up for a moment!”
Li Qingran took a deep breath. “It seems we are not in a relationship where we can help each other.”
“Then who are you in such a relationship with?” Qi Ziyan whispered.
He looked up at Li Qingran, the corners of his mouth curving upward slightly, yet his face was covered in tears. He wanted to smile, but tears kept gushing from his eyes, sliding down to his chin and falling onto their joined wrists, then sliding down the skin onto the Alpha’s black trousers, leaving a dark stain.
He still refused to let go, his voice carrying a pathological obsession.
“Then who can you help each other with? Su Jingyi? But didn’t you just promise me you would consider breaking up with him? Why choose him again? Are you lying to me? Why would you lie to me? How could you lie to me?”
Tears poured from the Omega’s eyes like broken strings of pearls. His voice grew smaller, but the strength in his hand grew greater.
“So the ones who are wrong aren’t me, but all of you.”
Therefore, he needed compensation. He must get compensation.
Qi Ziyan reached out to wipe the tears from his face. His originally light brown pupils turned completely black in the dim light, appearing hollow and deep. All emotions of hesitation and struggle were swallowed up, leaving only an urgent, desperate desire for pleasure.
The honey scent around them grew even more intense, and Li Qingran’s headache worsened.
Thump, thump, thump.
His throbbing temples felt as if someone were striking them with a hammer, blow after blow. It also sounded like the footsteps of someone gradually approaching this dark corner.
Su Jingyi had just stepped out of the elevator. Although he had been the only one inside, the moment he stepped out, he still subconsciously looked back to confirm that Gu Shiyu hadn’t followed him.
Although the other person had clearly stated he wouldn’t pull any dirty tricks on his brother, Su Jingyi still didn’t want him to see Li Qingran, especially Li Qingran in the middle of a rut.
That was a novel side of the Alpha that even he hadn’t seen. It should only be seen by him, and only he should be allowed to soothe the other man. Even if he were to be marked by the Alpha, or treated even more roughly, Su Jingyi would do so gladly.
Licking his lower lip, Su Jingyi’s Adam’s apple bobbed subconsciously at the thought of what might happen in the room later. His pace quickened significantly.
The apartment he had arranged for Li Qingran was near the end of the hallway, a bit far from the elevator, but not so far that he couldn’t reach the door.
Light footsteps echoed in the quiet hallway, coming from far to near. As he passed a certain door that had been left slightly ajar, Su Jingyi seemed to smell a sweet scent of caramel.
The person inside was likely making the Milk-Skin Tanghulu that had been popular lately. The caramel scent was mixed with a hint of milk. Su Jingyi had to admit it smelled good, but at the same time, it brought back a memory he didn’t particularly want to recall.
The person in that memory always had a sweet scent lingering on him. Combined with his chestnut hair, he reminded Su Jingyi of the sugar-roasted chestnuts he loved to eat in winter. However, while he liked eating them, it didn’t mean he liked letting Li Qingran eat them, and it certainly didn’t mean he was willing to let Li Qingran taste an Omega emitting such pheromones.
The private box that Su Jingyi had smashed up after that rainy day reappeared before the Omega’s eyes amidst the caramel scent. The orange lights flickered, and the swaying figure sitting on top of the Alpha emerged in his mind.
In truth, he didn’t need to overthink it too much. Because the Alpha had not marked Qi Ziyan. And Qi Ziyan hadn’t done it on purpose. After all, an Omega in heat, in a state of unconsciousness, might even climb onto any Alpha.
Su Jingyi didn’t think Qi Ziyan had done it intentionally; no one would fool around like that during their own heat. Besides, whenever he had mentioned Li Qingran before, Qi Ziyan had always looked resistant and disgusted. He didn’t seem to have any interest in Li Qingran at all.
So, the one to blame was Gu Shiyu, who had schemed against all three of them.
He had originally intended to go to the hospital today to clear things up with Qi Ziyan, but the other man had suddenly left the hospital for some reason. After that, he seemed to have vanished into thin air for the entire afternoon, and he wasn’t answering any calls.
He probably really had something urgent to handle.
Su Jingyi didn’t put too much thought into the missing Qi Ziyan. Especially as he placed his fingertip on the recognition system, with a “beep,” the fingerprint was successfully identified. His heart and eyes were now only for the Alpha inside the room, who was currently suffering through the torment of a rut.
“Don’t worry, Gege, I’m coming to soothe you now.”
Biting the tip of his tongue, the Omega, his face full of anticipation, slowly pushed open the gray-black door in front of him.
A dark crack appeared as the door opened. An excessively high concentration of pheromones surged out instantly, carrying a powerful scent of ice and snow. It almost immediately made Su Jingyi excited.
However, before he could impatiently push the door open, throw himself into the Alpha’s embrace, and lower his head to let the other bite his gland, satisfying himself while relieving the other, he suddenly detected another scent within those cold pheromones.
(Sweet). (Dense).
Once again, it wrapped around the scent of ice and snow as if staking a claim.
Su Jingyi’s fingertips suddenly clenched tight.
