- Chapter 31.1 - The Cannon Fodder Alpha Secretly in Love with the Female Lead Omega (28)
“If you dare run, I will really break your legs.”
Chi Jingyan’s lips lingered at Jiang Mengyu’s neck, the scent of jasmine enticing her to draw even closer. Chi Jingyan knew that if she moved just a little further back, she could reach Jiang Mengyu’s scent gland.
Jiang Mengyu seemed unaware of how dangerous her situation was.
Her ragged breaths came one after another, echoing incessantly in Chi Jingyan’s ears. That slender neck was right before her eyes, tempting Chi Jingyan to part her lips and sink her teeth in.
Chi Jingyan knew that even if she did, Jiang Mengyu wouldn’t push her away.
Yet, in the end, she lifted her head, her eyes tinged red as she stared at Jiang Mengyu, her gaze tracing every inch of Jiang Mengyu’s face.
Both of their breaths were uneven, their eyes locked intensely. Chi Jingyan loomed over her, taking in every reaction from Jiang Mengyu.
The Alpha’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes clouded with an unnatural haze of desire. Her lips still bore the marks where Chi Jingyan had bitten her.
Lower down, through the half-open collar, Chi Jingyan could see the necklace still resting against Jiang Mengyu’s neck.
The corners of her lips curled as she flicked the pendant with her fingers, her fingertips grazing Jiang Mengyu’s skin as if by accident, eliciting a shiver.
Chi Jingyan paid it no mind. She swept her long hair aside, exposing the porcelain-white nape of her neck. “Good puppy,” she teased lazily, her voice dripping with amusement. “What do you want?”
Jiang Mengyu was unexpectedly honest and obedient at this moment. Even as her body tensed to the point of crumpling the sheets beneath her fingers, she still restrained herself from touching Chi Jingyan.
“I want you.”
Though Chi Jingyan had already guessed her answer, hearing it aloud still sent a flush creeping up to the tips of her ears.
“Bad dog.”
Chi Jingyan’s fingers trailed along Jiang Mengyu’s neck before finally settling on her scent gland. “Do you want me to mark you?”
No Alpha liked having their scent gland touched. Jiang Mengyu instinctively held her breath, and Chi Jingyan could sense her tension. But eventually, Jiang Mengyu slowly relaxed.
She let out a muffled groan. “If you want to.”
Chi Jingyan hummed ambiguously, lowering herself slowly as if she truly intended to mark Jiang Mengyu.
Jiang Mengyu remained motionless, seemingly unperturbed.
System No. 031 wailed from its confinement, the female lead Alpha was supposed to mark the female lead Omega, not this heartless, ice-cold Alpha host!
But no one was considering System No. 031’s feelings at the moment.
Just as Chi Jingyan’s lips were about to touch Jiang Mengyu’s scent gland, she suddenly tightened her grip on the back of Jiang Mengyu’s neck, tilting her head and forcing Jiang Mengyu’s face toward her own neck.
Caught off guard, Jiang Mengyu’s lips brushed roughly against Chi Jingyan’s skin. Chi Jingyan shuddered but didn’t let go.
The rich aroma of snow pear and lychee wine flooded Jiang Mengyu’s senses, her breathing growing even more erratic. Chi Jingyan could feel the scorching heat of her breath against her neck, sending tingles down her spine.
Still pressing down on Jiang Mengyu’s nape, she commanded, “Mark me.”
Jiang Mengyu’s eyes were bloodshot, her entire body drenched as if she had just been pulled from water. She reached out and grasped Chi Jingyan’s forearm, her voice strained as she gasped, “Ayan…”
Chi Jingyan closed her eyes. “Don’t make me say it a third time.”
Her lips pressed into a tight line, and as her eyelids shut, a faint flicker of embarrassment and discomfort flashed in her gaze.
In truth, Chi Jingyan was far from as composed as she appeared.
For her to take the initiative and ask another Alpha to mark her was no easy feat. In all her years, she had never imagined such a scenario would arise.
Yet, as she looked at Jiang Mengyu’s flushed, striking face, she felt little resistance within herself.
She had always believed that what drew her to Jiang Mengyu was primarily pheromonal attraction. But in this moment, Chi Jingyan realized that wasn’t the case. At least, not entirely.
She was certain she wasn’t under the influence of pheromones now, nor was Jiang Mengyu controlling her. Yet, Chi Jingyan was willingly submitting to her mark.
A soft kiss brushed against the nape of her neck. Chi Jingyan’s lashes trembled, and her fingers involuntarily clenched the sheets beneath her.
The next second, teeth sank into her gland without hesitation. Pain and stimulation surged through her mind in tandem. A moan escaped Chi Jingyan’s lips as her brows furrowed tightly, a tear slipping from the corner of her closed eye.
Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones flooded into her body through the gland, melting her limbs into weakness. The hand she had tangled in Jiang Mengyu’s hair finally loosened its grip.
Slowly, Chi Jingyan opened her eyes, feeling the sharp ache at her gland. Far from anger, the faintest hint of a smile even touched her lips.
Mark Jiang Mengyu?
Chi Jingyan wouldn’t make such a foolish mistake.
She was an Alpha herself, no one understood an Alpha’s instincts better than she did.
Jiang Mengyu might have been willing to be marked by her, but that held no advantage for Chi Jingyan. After all, she wasn’t in her rut right now.
But if she allowed Jiang Mengyu to mark her, there was at least a 50% chance Jiang Mengyu would feel guilt and tenderness toward her.
That was what Chi Jingyan wanted.
What she wanted was for Jiang Mengyu to be unable to leave her, even if she one day learned the truth.
To achieve her goal, Chi Jingyan didn’t mind making a small sacrifice. It wasn’t as if this was the first time Jiang Mengyu had marked her, anyway.
An immeasurable amount of time later, Jiang Mengyu finally released her. Her chest heaved violently, but her gaze was far clearer than before.
“Ayan.” Jiang Mengyu’s brows knitted slightly as she carefully traced her fingers over Chi Jingyan’s nape, her voice still rough and breathless. “I’m sorry.”
As the words left her lips, Chi Jingyan clearly saw regret and unease flicker in Jiang Mengyu’s eyes. She knew her gamble had paid off.
Though it wasn’t the first bite, Chi Jingyan’s gland still bled slightly. Jiang Mengyu stared at the blood on her fingertips, the guilt in her eyes deepening.
“I lost control just now…”
“I know.”
Chi Jingyan struggled to prop herself up, her fingers brushing Jiang Mengyu’s cheek as she murmured, “Are you clear-headed now?”
“Mn.” Jiang Mengyu caught Chi Jingyan’s wrist, bringing her fingertips to her lips and pressing a featherlight kiss against them.
Chi Jingyan knew that she probably hadn’t fully recovered yet.
“Why didn’t you call me?” she asked again.
Jiang Mengyu couldn’t have been unaware that her rut was coming, yet she’d rather tough it out even secretly building a nest with Chi Jingyan’s clothes than call her.
Jiang Mengyu paused in her act of kissing Chi Jingyan’s fingertips. Her eyes half-lidded, her gaze drifted to Chi Jingyan’s legs. “You were busy.”
Chi Jingyan was still straddling Jiang Mengyu’s waist. She snorted. “That’s not an excuse.”
“Next time, remember to call me the moment something happens.”
As she spoke, Chi Jingyan used her free hand to lightly pat Jiang Mengyu’s face. “You’re not allowed to keep any secrets from me. You have to tell me everything right away.”
“Got it?”
She made no effort to hide her possessiveness over Jiang Mengyu.
Jiang Mengyu continued nuzzling her fingers with her lips. “Mm.”
“I know.”
The ticklish sensation on her fingertips made Chi Jingyan want to pull her hand back, but Jiang Mengyu held her wrist tightly.
Chi Jingyan wasn’t surprised. Jiang Mengyu had always been like this with her appearing meek and obedient on the surface, yet stubborn and domineering at heart.
“Stop kissing. How long are you going to keep this up?”
The lingering scent of intimacy in the room hadn’t fully dissipated, and Jiang Mengyu’s actions were stirring up restless emotions in Chi Jingyan again. Seeing Jiang Mengyu with disheveled hair and rumpled clothes, Chi Jingyan suddenly felt an inexplicable urge to tease her.
“Until you say you like me,” Jiang Mengyu murmured, her eyes fixed intently on Chi Jingyan, making her heartbeat quicken uncontrollably.
She wanted to say, Then you can let go now, but the words seemed stuck in her throat, impossible to voice.
Chi Jingyan could mock Jiang Mengyu with any words, but she couldn’t bring herself to say “I like you” to her face. She hesitated, opening and closing her mouth, but in the end, the words never came out. Instead, her ears turned red as she turned her face away and muttered, “Then just keep kissing forever.”
