She wanted Jiang Mengyu to keep liking her like this.
But to Jiang Mengyu’s ears, those words seemed to take on a different meaning.
Jiang Mengyu paused, then released Chi Jingyan’s hand. “I understand.”
Chi Jingyan: ?
What did she understand now?
Before Chi Jingyan could ask, a pair of hands suddenly gripped her waist, and in the next moment, their positions flipped abruptly. Chi Jingyan landed on the bed with a soft thud.
Luckily, Jiang Mengyu remembered to cushion her fall, so Chi Jingyan didn’t feel any pain just a slight dizziness.
It took her a few seconds for her vision to clear. When it did, she saw Jiang Mengyu looming over her, hands braced on either side of her body, gazing down at her.
Chi Jingyan instinctively sensed danger. She turned her head to avoid Jiang Mengyu’s gaze and asked softly, “What’s wrong with you now?”
Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly felt something beneath her cheek.
Propping herself up slightly, she took a closer look, a somewhat familiar handkerchief lay before her.
This handkerchief…
Chi Jingyan thought for a moment. “Where did you get this?”
She hadn’t used this style of handkerchief in a while.
Jiang Mengyu: “…I found it.”
Chi Jingyan frowned in confusion before suddenly realizing something, her eyes widening.
“Don’t tell me it’s from that time at the construction site…”
“Yes.” Jiang Mengyu admitted openly.
Chi Jingyan: “…”
“I threw them away, why did you pick them back up?!”
Jiang Mengyu: “You left them there, didn’t you mean for me to take them?”
Chi Jingyan flushed with anger. “Nonsense!”
At the time, she had simply found them dirty and tossed them after wiping her hands, never giving it a second thought.
“Throw it away now.” Chi Jingyan made to toss the handkerchief under the bed.
But Jiang Mengyu intercepted it with quick reflexes, tucking it carefully back into her own pocket. “This is mine.”
Chi Jingyan: “You…”
She didn’t know what to say.
Jiang Mengyu, this pervert!
Chi Jingyan cursed silently in her heart. Her head was tilted slightly, cheeks faintly pink. She appeared calm and composed, but the corners of her lips carried an unconscious smile.
Jiang Mengyu stowed the handkerchief away and then asked softly, “Does it still hurt?”
She was referring to the bite mark on Chi Jingyan’s nape, where her scent gland had been broken.
Chi Jingyan pressed her lips together. “It does.”
The words were half-true, her tone light, yet carrying a faint hint of coquetry.
Chi Jingyan rarely acted this way, her performance wasn’t exactly convincing. Fortunately, her sole audience didn’t seem to mind.
Jiang Mengyu didn’t call her out. She moved to get up from Chi Jingyan, turning to put on her shoes.
Chi Jingyan hadn’t expected Jiang Mengyu to leave so abruptly. She froze for a couple of seconds. Initially, she had intended to grab Jiang Mengyu’s hand, her fingertips were almost brushing Jiang Mengyu’s forearm but then she suddenly changed her mind.
Jiang Mengyu only heard a rustling sound behind her before a pair of arms abruptly wrapped tightly around her waist. Chi Jingyan’s voice sounded next to her ear, “You think you can just mark me and run?”
The young mistress clung to Jiang Mengyu like a koala, holding her firmly. Only when Jiang Mengyu didn’t resist did she gradually relax, her fingers trailing upward along Jiang Mengyu’s waist, exploring and lingering.
“If you dare run, I’ll break your legs.”
Her voice was uncharacteristically soft and low, but the threat within was unmistakable.
At first, Jiang Mengyu didn’t move. But as Chi Jingyan’s hands ventured deeper, she finally grasped the other’s wrist. “Ayan, I just wanted to get some ointment.”
Chi Jingyan’s scent gland was injured, it would be best to apply some medicine.
But how could that be allowed?
Chi Jingyan was counting on the sympathy play. If her wound healed too quickly, how else could she feign pitifulness?
“No need.”
Perhaps sensing her own lack of persuasiveness, Chi Jingyan added, “Last time, you didn’t bother applying anything for me either.”
Jiang Mengyu: “…Sorry.”
Chi Jingyan grew impatient. Her restrained hand twitched restlessly.
“Is that all you can say tonight?”
Jiang Mengyu glanced down at the hand buried in her clothes. “Ayan.”
She only called Chi Jingyan’s name softly, yet somehow, Chi Jingyan understood the unspoken meaning behind it.
The young mistress was both embarrassed and annoyed.
She refused to believe Jiang Mengyu didn’t grasp her intentions. She had even lowered her pride to drop hints, yet Jiang Mengyu still rejected her!
“Are you sure about this?” Chi Jingyan’s voice turned cold.
Jiang Mengyu turned to face her. “Ayan, I understand what you mean.”
Her gaze settled on Chi Jingyan’s neck. “But I’d rather it be because you truly want it, not because you’re influenced by pheromones.”
Chi Jingyan opened her mouth slightly, did she really not seem rational enough right now?
She knew what Jiang Mengyu wanted. Jiang wanted her promise, her unreserved favor.
But she hadn’t fully resolved matters at home yet. She couldn’t give Jiang Mengyu absolute assurance.
Chi Jingyan fell silent.
A flicker of disappointment crossed Jiang Mengyu’s face, but she still comforted Chi Jingyan, saying, “Ayan, I can wait for you slowly.”
“As long as the outcome is what I want, I’m willing to wait however long it takes.”
Chi Jingyan looked up at her. “You won’t leave me, right?”
Jiang Mengyu raised her hand to gently stroke Chi Jingyan’s cheek. “I won’t.”
Chi Jingyan took a deep breath. “Remember what you just said.”
“If one day you forget your promise to me…”
She really would drag Jiang Mengyu back and break her legs.
That night, the two did nothing but hold each other quietly as they slept.
Jiang Mengyu’s sensitive period lasted three days in total. She took three days off, and Chi Jingyan skipped classes to stay with her the entire time. Only after Jiang Mengyu’s sensitive period ended did the two return to school.
Though Chi Jingyan had never once said she liked Jiang Mengyu, after these three days together, the emotions between them finally began to warm up again.
Anyone with eyes could tell there was something strange about the atmosphere between them.
In contrast, Chu Muyao kept a much lower profile and never sought out Chi Jingyan to speak again.
Lately, Chi Jingyan had been living quite contentedly. Perhaps out of gratitude for her help, or perhaps because Jiang Mengyu was gradually becoming aware of Chi Jingyan’s feelings, Jiang had grown much gentler toward her almost to the point of granting her every wish.
In an empty classroom, the two stole a kiss, hidden from others.
Chi Jingyan left a fresh love bite on Jiang Mengyu’s skin. Jiang let out a soft gasp, relaxing against the wall as Chi Jingyan nipped and teased her flesh with her teeth.
By the time Chi Jingyan lifted her head, Jiang Mengyu’s collar was nearly in disarray.
“Ayan,” Jiang Mengyu murmured, her hand still resting on Chi Jingyan’s waist.
“People will see.”
“Let them look,” Chi Jingyan replied, utterly indifferent. In fact, she almost hoped someone would notice the marks on Jiang Mengyu.
