She leaned down and sealed Chi Jingyan’s lips with her own.
Chi Jingyan’s pupils dilated, frozen in place, her breath unconsciously halting.
Jiang Mengyu half-lowered her eyelids, pinning Chi Jingyan’s wrists beside her head while her knee pressed against Chi Jingyan’s side, immobilizing any resistance.
The quiet room held no sound but the dim golden light bearing witness.
This was Jiang Mengyu’s first kiss, but she quickly grasped the technique lips pressing gently at first, then slow, teasing brushes, savoring the warmth and softness.
Chi Jingyan’s body stiffened, nearly turning to ice.
That striking face loomed close, so near she could see the intoxication in Jiang Mengyu’s eyes, her long lashes casting delicate shadows.
Her lips tingled from the friction, her neck aching from the angle. Chi Jingyan blinked, a tear escaping unconsciously.
She couldn’t breathe!
In panic, she instinctively parted her lips slightly then bit down hard on the softness against her mouth.
“Ah!”
But the gasp wasn’t Jiang Mengyu’s, it was Chi Jingyan’s.
Stung by pain, Jiang Mengyu lost control of her strength, nipping Chi Jingyan’s lip just enough to break the skin though Chi Jingyan had bitten her harder.
A searing pain burned on her lips. Jiang Mengyu wiped it with her fingertip and, unsurprisingly, saw a vivid streak of blood. She carelessly smeared away the bloodstain and lowered her gaze back to Chi Jingyan.
Chi Jingyan was furiously wiping her own lips, her face livid. The force was so rough that her already crimson lips turned even redder and more swollen. The cut from Jiang Mengyu’s teeth showed signs of bleeding again.
Frowning, Jiang Mengyu reached out to stop her, but Chi Jingyan harshly slapped her hand away.
A sharp slap followed, snapping Jiang Mengyu’s head to the side.
The young mistress glared at her with icy eyes, the remnants of flushed arousal still faintly visible in her gaze. Paired with her unnaturally red lips, it gave her an inexplicably pitiable air.
“Get out!”
The word was spat out with biting force.
Jiang Mengyu straightened up. “Ayan…”
Chi Jingyan closed her eyes briefly. “I don’t want to hear it right now.”
Her voice trembled slightly. “Disappear from my sight this instant!”
Jiang Mengyu wanted to say more, but seeing Chi Jingyan on the verge of exploding with rage, she swallowed her unspoken words.
“Rest well.”
Her gaze lingered on Chi Jingyan’s lips one last time before she obediently turned and left.
The door clicked shut behind her. Only when the scent of jasmine in the room gradually faded with her departure did Chi Jingyan slump back against the sofa, as if drained of strength.
She sat in silence for a long moment before carefully touching the wound on her lip. A sharp sting followed, and Chi Jingyan clenched her jaw tightly.
Damn Jiang Mengyu!
How dare she?!
She muttered a curse under her breath, but it did little to soothe her anger. Spotting Jiang Mengyu’s coat still lying nearby, she shoved it to the floor and stomped on it several times.
Jiang Mengyu, you bastard!
Chi Jingyan tried to steady her breathing, but the sunset-like flush on her cheeks refused to fade.
Jiang Mengyu released the stunned System 031 from the blackout room.
031 was speechless.
[H-Host…] it stammered, [I think my eyes must be playing tricks on me, haha… I could’ve sworn I just saw you kiss Female Lead A.]
Jiang Mengyu: “An AI without a physical form, where did you get eyes from?”
That single sentence wounded 031 multiple times.
The system immediately let out a scream Jiang Mengyu was all too familiar with.
[Host! Why?! Why did you kiss her?!]
Jiang Mengyu: “I just kissed her. It’s not like it’ll change anything.”
“Didn’t you say so yourself?”
A cannon fodder can’t alter the story’s outcome. No matter how hard she tried, Chi Jingyan would ultimately end up with Chu Muyao.
Those were 031’s exact words repeated multiple times, no less.
031: […I admit, I lied to you back then.]
It had only wanted to scare the host into obediently completing tasks. Who knew the host would stubbornly test the theory anyway?!
Watching the plot deviation value jump to 50, 031 sank into deep despair.
It knew the host was deliberately using its own words against it.
If Jiang Mengyu might have been fooled at first, the moment the plot deviation value appeared, she must have realized 031 had been lying all along.
After all, if the original plot truly couldn’t be altered, why would something like a “plot corruption value” even exist?
System 031: [Please, Host! Destroying the novel’s world brings you no benefits at all!]
Jiang Mengyu immediately asked, “Then what are the consequences?”
System 031 thought for a moment: [It will draw the attention of the Main God, who might then impose punishments!]
Isn’t that exactly her current situation?
Jiang Mengyu’s expression remained unchanged. “That’s it?”
System 031: [That’s already serious enough!]
[Don’t you want to revive your sister anymore?]
At the mention of her sister, Jiang Mengyu’s demeanor instantly cooled.
Of course, she did.
But that didn’t mean she had to accept the Main God’s constraints.
Jiang Mengyu slept soundly that night, undisturbed until dawn.
When she brushed her teeth in the morning, she could still feel the sting on her lips. She checked in the mirror, the wound had already scabbed over.
Breakfast was once again shared with the Chi family’s servants. Perhaps because Jiang Mengyu seemed approachable, someone struck up a conversation with her.
“What happened to your mouth?”
Jiang Mengyu: “I’m just overheated.”
Luckily, the slap mark from last night had faded; otherwise, she wouldn’t have known how to explain it.
The person scrutinized the wound on Jiang Mengyu’s lips. It didn’t look like a result of overheating more like someone had bitten her.
But she didn’t dare say it out loud. Jiang Mengyu was a new face here, unacquainted with anyone else in the villa. Who could have bitten her like that?
It definitely hadn’t been there yesterday.
Surely it couldn’t have been the young mistress, could it?
At that thought, the servant shuddered.
The young mistress was an Alpha, and so was the girl in front of her. She didn’t dare dwell on it further and quickly suppressed any inappropriate notions.
Jiang Mengyu paid no mind to the servant’s odd gaze. After finishing breakfast, she went to find Chi Jingyan.
Chi Jingyan’s mood was especially foul today.
Even Chi Jia, who loved bickering with her the most, didn’t dare provoke her at this moment.
How strange.
Chi Jia watched Chi Jingyan’s retreating figure, muttering to herself. Had Chi Jingyan swallowed a bomb or something?
Of course, Chi Jingyan was in a bad mood, she hadn’t slept well last night, plagued by dreams all evening.
All because of Jiang Mengyu!
The moment Chi Jingyan recalled the scenes from her dreams, her expression tightened, and her breathing grew heavy.
