- Chapter 25.3 - The Cannon Fodder Alpha Secretly in Love with the Female Lead Omega (22)
She kept reliving last night’s kiss. What had been a brief, tentative touch in reality had transformed into something deep and demanding in her dreams.
The dream version of Jiang Mengyu was even more audacious than the real one. Her hands had pressed against Chi Jingyan’s thighs, her scorching palms searing into Chi Jingyan’s skin like branding irons, melting her legs into liquid.
The scent of jasmine had permeated every inch of her, filling her completely, leaving Chi Jingyan limp and at Jiang Mengyu’s mercy.
All the while, Jiang Mengyu had kissed her and whispered in her ear, “Ah Yan, do you like it?”
“I’m so happy. Are you?”
As if Chi Jingyan could possibly be happy about it!
Her foul mood persisted until she saw Jiang Mengyu. Without waiting for her, the young mistress got into the car first.
Jiang Mengyu opened the rear door and had just bent down to sit inside when Chi Jingyan kicked her. “Go sit in the front.”
Her tone was sharp.
Jiang Mengyu paused only briefly before stepping out and moving to the passenger seat.
Jiang Mengyu’s obedience did little to quell the anger simmering in Chi Jingyan’s heart.
The incident last night had happened too suddenly, Chi Jingyan hadn’t fully processed it then. It wasn’t until this morning that she truly came to her senses.
Jiang Mengyu had actually dared to use her pheromones to control her. Compared to that, the kiss seemed almost trivial.
If it was just a kiss now, what would come next? What else would she force her to do?
The more Chi Jingyan thought about it, the angrier she became. Her expression remained icy toward Jiang Mengyu, and after getting out of the car, she strode straight into the elevator without waiting for her.
Jiang Mengyu arrived home twenty minutes later than Chi Jingyan.
It was Saturday, so there was no need to go to school. Chi Jingyan was in the study, talking on the phone.
Jiang Mengyu knocked on the door, and after a long pause, she heard Chi Jingyan’s cold response: “Come in.”
Carrying a cup of coffee, Jiang Mengyu entered and set it down before pulling a tube of ointment from her pocket.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Chi Jingyan didn’t even glance up.
By now, Jiang Mengyu had a good grasp of Chi Jingyan’s temperament. Without hesitation, she knelt down. “I’m sorry, Ayan. I was wrong.”
Only then did Chi Jingyan lift her eyes to give her a glance, a cold smirk playing on her lips. “You were wrong? How could you possibly be wrong?”
“After all, you had the audacity to use your pheromones to control me.”
“What else do you plan to do in the future? Why don’t you just shoot me and be done with it.”
“Ayan!” Jiang Mengyu cut her off, her eyes flickering with hurt. “You know I’d never do that.”
“I don’t know,” Chi Jingyan replied, her tone unyielding. “All I know is that I don’t keep dogs that dare to bare their fangs at their master.”
“I’m sorry,” Jiang Mengyu lowered her head. “I was just blinded by jealousy and possessiveness.”
“Ayan, if you’re still angry, kick me a few more times. Keep going until you’re satisfied.”
Chi Jingyan said nothing.
Meanwhile, System No. 031 in her mind found the scene eerily familiar. It seemed this wasn’t the first time the host had apologized to Chi Jingyan like this.
It felt like it had already seen through its host.
The apology was humble and sincere, but the mistakes would be repeated. Apologizing didn’t stop her from making the same mistakes again.
The host’s words were as empty as air not a single one could be trusted.
No. 031 silently prayed that Chi Jingyan would see through this truth.
Chi Jingyan’s expression darkened. “Jiang Mengyu, do you think I’m stupid? That I’m easy to fool?”
Jiang Mengyu shook her head. “I wish you were easier to coax.”
Her voice was soft, tinged with bitterness. “Then maybe you’d be a little softer on me.”
Chi Jingyan scoffed. Hadn’t she already been soft enough on Jiang Mengyu?
Given everything Jiang Mengyu had done, if it were anyone else, they would’ve died countless times over by now.
Just as Chi Jingyan was about to speak, Jiang Mengyu beat her to it. “Ayan, I swear to you, there won’t be a next time.”
“If I ever use my pheromones to control you again, you can do whatever you want with me. Kill me if you wish.”
Her voice grew even quieter. “Or… just abandon me forever. Let me never see you, never get close to you again. How about that?”
Chi Jingyan pressed her lips together, silent.
To Jiang Mengyu, was being unable to see her truly worse than death?
Lost in thought, Chi Jingyan failed to notice one crucial detail, Jiang Mengyu had only promised not to use her pheromones to control her again.
She had said nothing about not kissing her.
Neither of them spoke again, and the study fell into silence.
After a long pause, Chi Jingyan closed her eyes briefly before saying coldly, “Get out!”
Jiang Mengyu obediently rolled out, though the ointment she had bought was left behind.
Chi Jingyan stared at the green box on the table for a long while before angrily tossing it into the trash bin.
Secretary Zhao had someone deliver lunch.
Jiang Mengyu knocked on the study door again, urging Chi Jingyan to come out and eat.
The door was quickly pulled open from the inside. As they brushed past each other, Jiang Mengyu caught a familiar scent on Chi Jingyan.
It was the smell of ointment.
Jiang Mengyu glanced back at the study. She had thought Chi Jingyan would have thrown away the ointment she bought.
She averted her gaze Chi Jingyan had already taken a seat at the dining table.
The meal passed in silence.
Chi Jingyan had come to a realization: with someone as shameless and unhinged as Jiang Mengyu, showing any kindness would only be taken as weakness. It was her own leniency that had given Jiang Mengyu the wrong idea, emboldening her to test the waters.
She needed to make it crystal clear to Jiang Mengyu that they belonged to different worlds. With Jiang Mengyu’s status, she would never truly gain the approval of the Chi family.
So when Jiang Mengyu went to deliver coffee to Chi Jingyan that afternoon, she “coincidentally” overheard Chi Jingyan on the phone with her mother.
“Jingyan, how are things with Mu Yao going?”
“That girl is sweet, obedient, and gentle. Your father and I both think highly of her. You should put a little more effort into the relationship.”
“Yesterday, when I was shopping with Mu Yao’s mother, we talked about it. We’re thinking of having you two get engaged after graduation.”
“What do you think?”
Jiang Mengyu paused in her steps, standing quietly by the study door as she listened to their conversation.
Observer No. 031 studied her expression and chimed in her mind: [See? You and Chi Jingyan are impossible.]
[Love without parental approval is doomed to fail.]
So, it’d be better to give up now before the Chi family forcefully separates them!
Jiang Mengyu: “Hmm, that makes sense.”
But she had never planned on marrying Chi Jingyan in the first place.
