- Chapter 24.3 - The Cannon Fodder Alpha Secretly in Love with the Female Lead Omega (21)
Chi Jingyan didn’t take Jiang Mengyu back to the apartment.
She was returning to the old family mansion tonight for a family dinner. She wasn’t sure what Chi Jingyan was thinking, but in any case, she had decided to bring Jiang Mengyu along.
After the two had changed and finished their styling, they set off again for the old mansion.
Chi Jingyan was still young. Even without a trace of makeup, her skin remained smooth and flawless. She wore a long trench coat, her hair cascading naturally down her back, the cold, aloof aura around her growing even more pronounced.
Jiang Mengyu, on the other hand, had tied up her long hair and followed silently behind Chi Jingyan like a shadow.
She had originally brought knives and guns, but they were confiscated at the villa’s entrance. Chi Jingyan stood by without a word, tacitly allowing it.
Once inside, Jiang Mengyu realized the villa grounds were vast, with security guards stationed at intervals, their faces expressionless.
Chi Jingyan had initially worried Jiang Mengyu might be nervous, hesitating over whether to offer some reassurance. If Jiang Mengyu begged her, she wouldn’t mind protecting her a little.
But to her surprise, Jiang Mengyu wasn’t the least bit intimidated. That bewitchingly beautiful face showed not a flicker of extra emotion.
Chi Jingyan coldly averted her gaze.
Watching the person ahead suddenly quicken her pace, Jiang Mengyu thought to herself, the temper of the young mistress Chi was truly more complex and unpredictable than the weather in June.
The dinner was set to begin at eight. By the time they arrived at the old mansion, it was only half past seven. The butler informed Chi Jingyan that the others were all in the back garden chatting with the family patriarch.
Chi Jingyan intended to join them, but on the way, she ran into someone else.
Chi Jia’s gaze swept back and forth between Chi Jingyan and Jiang Mengyu. When her eyes landed on Jiang Mengyu, they carried a trace of resentment and contemplation.
“Sister,” Chi Jia drawled, “why did you bring an outsider along?”
“Today is a family dinner.”
“Just worry about yourself,” Chi Jingyan replied coolly. “As long as you don’t cause trouble again and make me clean up your mess.”
At these words, Chi Jia clenched her fists tightly.
That day, after Jiang Mengyu had injected her with the drug and recorded the video, it had taken her a long time to recover, wracked with pain and humiliation.
Chi Jia had immediately gone to complain to the family patriarch, only to be told that Chi Jingyan had already given him a heads-up.
Not only that, but he had also instructed Chi Jia, as the younger sister, to listen to her elder sister.
Chi Jia had nearly choked on her own rage!
Since when had Chi Jingyan ever acted like an elder sister? She had only been teasing her and besides, Chi Jingyan hadn’t even fallen for it!
Was it worth retaliating with the same cruel methods?!
Chi Jia snorted through her nose and stepped closer to Chi Jingyan.
At that moment, Jiang Mengyu, who had been standing slightly behind Chi Jingyan, suddenly took a step forward, positioning herself halfway in front of her.
Chi Jia faltered. She already disliked Jiang Mengyu, and now she glared at her with murderous intensity.
Chi Jingyan arched an eyebrow, the gloom in her heart suddenly lifting. She said nothing, merely watching Chi Jia with amusement.
Chi Jia took a deep breath and sneered, “Sister, you’ve certainly trained a fine guard dog.”
After that incident, she had also sent people to investigate Jiang Mengyu’s rank, but no detailed information could be found. The only vague hint was that Jiang Mengyu might be an SS-ranked Alpha.
Perhaps even more than that.
No wonder Chi Jingyan suddenly took a liking to Jiang Mengyu.
Chi Jia looked at Jiang Mengyu standing protectively in front of her, shielding Chi Jingyan, his gaze towards her devoid of any emotion.
In that moment, aside from hatred, another thought flickered through Chi Jia’s mind.
If she could snatch this person away from Chi Jingyan, wouldn’t Chi Jingyan be furious?
Chi Jia studied Jiang Mengyu with deep interest, reaching out as if to touch the stray strands of hair framing his face, only for him to frown and step back.
Seeing Chi Jia’s action, the forced smile on Chi Jingyan’s face vanished completely, replaced by icy coldness in her eyes.
“Chi Jia,” her tone carried a warning.
But Chi Jia wasn’t intimidated, instead, she grew even more excited. Chi Jingyan seemed genuinely attached to this person, and the more she reacted, the more Chi Jia wanted to lay claim to the Alpha before her.
Preferably right in front of Chi Jingyan.
She let out a mocking laugh and slowly withdrew her hand. “Just a joke, sis. No need to get worked up.”
With that, she leisurely turned and walked away, leaving Jiang Mengyu and Chi Jingyan standing under the corridor, the atmosphere between them heavy with tension.
After a long silence, Chi Jingyan was the first to move. She took a few steps in the direction Chi Jia had left, then suddenly stopped and said coldly, “Flirting with everyone.”
First Chen He’an changed his attitude toward her, and now even Chi Jia was drawn to her.
Jiang Mengyu didn’t explain. She simply quickened her pace to catch up with Chi Jingyan, her voice soft and unhurried. “Is this why you’re upset?”
“Ah Yan?”
Their relationship had been strained for days, but now, the thin barrier between them was finally pierced again.
The intent in Jiang Mengyu’s eyes was unmistakable.
“You know exactly who I want the most.”
Chi Jingyan stiffened under his deep, unwavering gaze, her fingers clenching and unclenching at her sides. After a long pause, she finally muttered, “Behave yourself,” before striding away.
The tips of her ears, hidden beneath her dark hair, seemed to flush faintly red.
Jiang Mengyu wasn’t qualified to attend the banquet, so dinner was spent with the Chi family’s servants. Everyone knew she was the young mistress’s guest, so no one gave her trouble.
After dinner, they had to stay overnight at the old mansion, a family tradition.
Chi Jingyan had her own room on the second floor, some distance from Jiang Mengyu’s. Jiang Mengyu followed her briefly, silently memorizing the location.
Night fell.
Jiang Mengyu slipped upstairs without encountering a soul. Standing before Chi Jingyan’s door, she expected some difficulty with the lock, only to find it already unlocked.
Pausing, she pressed down on the handle, the door opened effortlessly.
It swung shut behind her, leaving the hallway in silence once more. The hidden bodyguards emerged from the shadows and returned to their posts.
Inside the bedroom, the lights were on. Chi Jingyan sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, her back to the door, clad in a lilac silk nightgown that outlined her slender frame. The warm glow cast a hazy aura around her.
Jiang Mengyu stepped closer.
Chi Jingyan wasn’t the least bit surprised to hear her footsteps. Perhaps because it was late at night, her voice, tinged with weariness, lost some of its usual chill, carrying instead a hint of laziness and casualness.
“Who let you in?”
Jiang Mengyu stopped in front of Chi Jingyan. She fixed her gaze on the person before her, then slowly knelt down on one knee, looking up at Chi Jingyan, who was seated on the sofa, in a harmless posture.
“I couldn’t sleep. I missed you, so I came to see you.”
Chi Jingyan’s heart skipped a heavy beat.
She hadn’t expected Jiang Mengyu to be so direct.
But Chi Jingyan didn’t feel offended. Deep down, she even felt a flicker of smugness.
Hmph, in the end, it was Jiang Mengyu who couldn’t hold back and compromised first.
The weight pressing on Chi Jingyan’s chest eased slightly. Propping her head up with one hand, she drawled lazily, “Did you come here to steal something?”
Jiang Mengyu was still dressed in the same black outfit from earlier that evening. Under Chi Jingyan’s gaze, she took off her jacket and tossed it aside carelessly, leaving only a fitted camisole on her body.
Chi Jingyan had always known she was beautiful, with a great figure to match. But now, looking at the woman kneeling at her feet her skin as pale and flawless as jade, like a blooming poppy, she exuded an air of breathtaking allure and danger, yet she willingly lowered her head in submission, surrendering completely.
Chi Jingyan’s heartbeat quickened. Her expression remained unchanged, but her eyes lingered on Jiang Mengyu, refusing to look away.
Jiang Mengyu was blatantly seducing her, making no attempt to hide her intentions. Not only did she tilt her dark, upturned eyes, gazing at Chi Jingyan with an innocent, puppy-like look, but she also subtly released her pheromones.
Chi Jingyan was highly sensitive to her scent.
The moment Jiang Mengyu let her pheromones loose, Chi Jingyan kicked her lightly. “Keep your scent in check. Don’t go into heat so recklessly.”
Her words were stern, but her tone was calm, devoid of much anger.
Jiang Mengyu pretended not to hear.
They had only just “made up,” and Jiang Mengyu was certain that Chi Jingyan’s tolerance for her was at its peak right now. Even if she acted a little boldly, Chi Jingyan wouldn’t do anything to her.
Otherwise, Chi Jingyan wouldn’t have deliberately dismissed the bodyguards to let her slip up to the second floor, nor would she have left the door unlocked.
“Ayan.” Jiang Mengyu’s voice was low.
“I missed you.”
Her gaze was fixed intently on Chi Jingyan, but her eyes weren’t locked on Chi Jingyan’s face, they were focused lower.
As she stared, a heated intensity ignited in those dark eyes, sticky and scorching.
How could Chi Jingyan not understand?
She averted her gaze and scolded, “Bad dog.”
“You’re not allowed to think about that.”
Her voice trembled inexplicably.
The jasmine scent in the air grew thicker. Chi Jingyan wanted to hold her breath, but she couldn’t resist the rapid pounding of her own heart.
This feeling was different from her usual rut.
Chi Jingyan hadn’t lost her senses. She could clearly perceive the changes in her body, every sensation was triggered by Jiang Mengyu, vivid and impossible to ignore.
The scent-blocking patch on the back of her neck had long been torn off. Her dormant pheromones were easily lured out by the jasmine fragrance, mingling with the sweet-spicy aroma of pear and lychee wine, carrying a faint trace of jasmine.
It was Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones, lingering within her.
Chi Jingyan’s cheeks flushed with a rosy hue of spring, her exhales hot and feverish. Biting her own lips, she stared at the person brazenly tempting her before her eyes and enunciated each word clearly: “Jiang Mengyu.”
“Don’t make me look down on you.”
Jiang Mengyu dismissed her words as nonsense.
Since when had Chi Jingyan ever looked up to her?
Hadn’t the young mistress always treated her as nothing more than a dispensable plaything?
In Chi Jingyan’s heart, their statuses had never been equal.
Moreover, hadn’t Chi Jingyan considered the consequences before letting her in?
Ignoring Chi Jingyan’s warning, Jiang Mengyu grasped the fingers resting on Chi Jingyan’s lap, slowly tightening her grip as her soft lips brushed against Chi Jingyan’s fingertips.
“Ah Yan,” Jiang Mengyu murmured.
Her voice was low and husky, sending a tingling itch through Chi Jingyan’s ears, turning the tips of her ears a deep red.
“I really want to devour you…”
