- Chapter 19 - The Cannon Fodder Alpha Secretly in Love with the Female Lead Omega (16)
This mad dog is loyal only to her.
Chi Jingyan and Jiang Mengyu underwent thorough physical examinations.
Professor Chen was very concerned about the matter. His gaze at Jiang Mengyu was filled with enthusiasm, and if not for Chi Jingyan’s presence, Jiang Mengyu suspected he might have dissected her for research.
He also wanted to collect more of Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones. This time, Jiang Mengyu didn’t immediately respond but instead turned to look at Chi Jingyan.
Chi Jingyan raised an eyebrow, her mood inexplicably lifting. “She’s not feeling well. We’ll talk about it later.”
So, she had noticed Jiang Mengyu’s complexion was paler than usual.
Professor Chen could only reluctantly abandon his plan.
The test results showed that Chi Jingyan was in good health, with no abnormalities except for her pheromone levels being slightly higher than average.
However, since she was still in her rut, this was considered normal.
Jiang Mengyu’s results were even more standard, with all her indicators within the normal range, though she was slightly anemic.
Chi Jingyan thought about Jiang Mengyu’s background, she was an orphan who had relied on state subsidies to survive, which was why she had said she was in desperate need of money.
Money? That was the one thing Chi Jingyan had in abundance. If it could make Jiang Mengyu obedient, she wouldn’t mind giving her more.
Chi Jingyan looked down at the report in her hands again Jiang Mengyu’s test results. In the “gender” column, it clearly stated: Alpha.
Enigma?
Chi Jingyan wasn’t convinced.
Perhaps Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones had simply undergone some mutation, allowing her to soothe an Alpha in rut like an Omega. There had been similar cases before, hadn’t there?
If that were the case, everything would make perfect sense.
Because Jiang Mengyu was an Omega disguised as an Alpha, Chi Jingyan had been drawn to her pheromones, and that was why their compatibility was so high.
Chi Jingyan reviewed her own test results once more and, confirming everything was normal, finally relaxed.
An Alpha in rut could lose control at any moment, so Chi Jingyan didn’t linger at the research institute for long. She soon took Jiang Mengyu back to the apartment.
She had taken leave from school and wouldn’t need to attend classes for the next few days. Chi Jingyan didn’t mind, she began shamelessly ordering Jiang Mengyu around.
When Jiang Mengyu wasn’t acting crazy, she was remarkably obedient. Even if Chi Jingyan made her pour water three times, she could do it a fourth time without batting an eye.
Chi Jingyan was somewhat satisfied with her attitude.
Still, she didn’t torment Jiang Mengyu endlessly. Most of the time, Chi Jingyan stayed in the study making calls and sending messages.
She was certain that the drug had been administered by Chi Jia, she just lacked concrete evidence for now. But Chi Jingyan had never been one to care about evidence. As long as she believed it was Chi Jia, Chi Jia would have to pay the price.
While instructing Secretary Zhao to stir up trouble for Third Uncle Chi, she also called Grandpa Chi to complain about Chi Jia.
When the call connected, Chi Jingyan didn’t get straight to the point. Instead, she first asked about Grandpa Chi’s health. “How have you been feeling lately?”
After exchanging a few pleasantries, she finally got to the main issue.
Chi Jingyan knew Old Master Chi all too well. She didn’t even bother to come up with a more plausible excuse and simply said offhandedly:
“Xiao Jia has been bullying classmates at school. Someone found out I’m her sister and came to me. I didn’t know what to do, so I had to come to you for guidance.”
Old Master Chi chuckled. “You just said you’re her sister. If Xiao Jia did something wrong, you should teach her properly.”
He didn’t even ask what Chi Jia had actually done.
All of this was within Chi Jingyan’s expectations. Old Master Chi had always raised them with a survival-of-the-fittest mentality. As long as no lives were lost, he couldn’t care less about how the two schemed against each other in private.
Chi Jingyan understood. “I see.”
Her attitude toward Old Master Chi was respectful, even carrying a hint of affection. Yet, Jiang Mengyu saw it clearly Chi Jingyan’s expression was unmistakably cold.
Chi Jingyan soon hung up the phone. She let out a soft sigh and rubbed her temples wearily.
A cup of coffee was placed beside her hand. The next moment, two hands pressed gently but firmly against her temples, massaging the acupoints.
Chi Jingyan relaxed her body. After resting with her eyes closed for a while, she suddenly asked, “Tell me, how should I retaliate against her?”
Jiang Mengyu looked down at Chi Jingyan, her voice indifferent. “Do you want me to kill her for you?”
She spoke as casually as if she were asking whether Chi Jingyan wanted a glass of water.
Chi Jingyan: ?
Chi Jingyan couldn’t help but open her eyes and stare at Jiang Mengyu. Only after seeing the seriousness in the other’s gaze did she scold, “You lunatic.”
Jiang Mengyu didn’t see anything wrong with it. “Anyone who makes you unhappy should disappear.”
Chi Jingyan paused, then snorted lightly. “Then the first one to disappear should be you.”
How many times had Jiang Mengyu already offended her? And yet, Chi Jingyan hadn’t done anything to her.
The pressure on her temples faltered slightly. Chi Jingyan heard Jiang Mengyu ask quietly, “Do you hate me that much?”
“Even more than you hate Chi Jia?”
Not really.
Chi Jingyan had only been joking. If she truly wished for Jiang Mengyu’s death, she wouldn’t have kept her by her side.
But Chi Jingyan didn’t explain. She studied Jiang Mengyu for a long moment before finally saying calmly, “I’ll leave this matter to you.”
“Jiang Mengyu, I hope you won’t disappoint me.”
Chi Jia was taken away at school.
She had imagined how Chi Jingyan might retaliate probably just causing some trouble for her family’s company. She was confident she could handle it.
But Chi Jia hadn’t expected Chi Jingyan to be even bolder than she’d thought.
When she opened her eyes groggily, the first thing she saw was a stunningly beautiful face. The owner of that face stood before her, looking down at her with no particular expression, even as Chi Jia came to.
Glancing past her, Chi Jia spotted several black-clad bodyguards stationed at the door.
She took a deep breath, steadying her nerves, then slowly curved her lips into a smile. “It’s you.”
Chi Jia tested her limbs and found her legs bound, though her arms were free.
Propping herself up, she sat up. “Did Chi Jingyan send you?”
“How does she plan to get back at me?”
Jiang Mengyu didn’t speak. Seeing Chi Jia awake, she bent down and picked up the syringe from the table.
Chi Jia stared at the pale blue liquid in the needle, a wave of dread washing over her. “You’re Jiang Mengyu, right?” she demanded, her words rapid and laced with icy threat. “Do you even realize what you’re doing is illegal?!”
“I’m from the Chi family. If you lay a finger on me, the Chis will never let you go!”
“Are you so sure Chi Jingyan would protect you?”
No matter what Chi Jia said, Jiang Mengyu remained silent, steadily advancing toward her with the syringe in hand.
Panicked and terrified, Chi Jia desperately tried to scramble backward, but her body inexplicably refused to cooperate, her limbs heavy and unresponsive.
In her dazed state, Chi Jia caught a faint whiff of jasmine, a scent that made her head spin and her stomach churn with nausea.
It took her a moment to realize: this was Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones.
Chi Jia’s eyes widened in disbelief. Wasn’t she supposed to be just a B-rank Alpha?! How could her pheromones carry such overwhelming aggression?
For the first time, Chi Jia understood exactly how Chi Jingyan must have felt back then. But Jiang Mengyu was far rougher with her than she had been with Chi Jingyan. She grabbed Chi Jia’s forearm and, under her furious glare, injected the contents of the syringe into her body.
Suppressed by Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones, Chi Jia couldn’t muster even a shred of strength to resist. All she could do was glare at Jiang Mengyu with burning hatred, her resentment nearly tangible.
Only after the injection was complete did Jiang Mengyu straighten up and take a step back, watching Chi Jia’s reaction with an impassive expression.
Chi Jia felt as though her body was on fire. A searing pain radiated from her stomach, spreading through her limbs in relentless waves. She curled up on the sofa, cold sweat beading on her forehead.
Despite the agony, Chi Jia gritted her teeth and forced out the words, “I won’t let you get away with this!”
This wasn’t the first time Jiang Mengyu had heard such a threat. Chi Jingyan often said the same thing yet here she stood, unharmed.
Jiang Mengyu showed no reaction, her gaze as cold as ever, utterly unmoved by Chi Jia’s suffering or her threats.
Watching through the screen, Chi Jingyan couldn’t help but feel that Jiang Mengyu might have been telling the truth earlier. If she had ordered her to kill Chi Jia, Jiang Mengyu might have actually done it.
There was something almost cruel about Jiang Mengyu’s indifference to human life.
Chi Jingyan saw it clearly, yet she felt no fear. Instead, her gaze remained steady as she observed Jiang Mengyu on the screen.
Jiang Mengyu was indeed a madwoman but this rabid dog was loyal only to her.
An eerie sense of satisfaction inexplicably rose in Chi Jingyan’s heart.
