The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 40
Until the end of filming that day, Zhao Mumu had remained in high spirits.
Hu Luobei, watching the frequent smile flickering across her face, only felt her eyes sting slightly.
Some people were happy, while others quietly suffered.
Ji Yanwan had finished her scenes for the day. She sat in a chair, fiddling with her phone, waiting for Fu Suihe to finish.
While touching up her makeup, Fu Suihe suddenly lost her grip and dropped a prop from her hand.
It was Fu He’s weapon, a dagger meant to be worn close to the body.
Although the blade wasn’t sharpened for safety, Fu Suihe’s skin was delicate. Reflexively reaching out to catch it, her palm was sliced, leaving a long red gash.
The cut from the dull blade quickly spread into a fine web of blood droplets that rolled down her pale skin, making the wound stand out starkly.
The first to react was the makeup artist. With a sharp gasp, the others immediately gathered around.
Ji Yanwan sensed something was wrong and rushed over.
Fu Suihe bit her lip and looked up at her with wide, pitiful eyes.
Seeing the blood still flowing from her palm, Ji Yanwan’s heart tightened with worry.
A staff member quickly brought over the first aid kit.
Just as Abu was soaking gauze with iodine to treat the wound, a slender hand reached in.
With pale, elegant fingers slightly curled with tension, Ji Yanwan carefully pressed the gauze over the wound, disinfecting the area.
Her movements were gentle, as if afraid of causing pain. She even blew softly on the injury while wiping it clean.
The set gradually quieted.
Ji Yanwan tilted her head, her sharp eyes softened by the warm hues of dusk. Strands of hair fell gently, blurring her features.
The golden glow of the setting sun fell on her profile and shoulders.
Chen Fei, unable to resist, raised his camera and snapped a photo.
They were both still in costume. Ji Yanwan’s downcast eyes and tender actions made the affection between them seem to overflow from the picture.
The wound itself wasn’t serious. Once the blood was wiped clean, the cut was barely visible.
After applying the medication, Ji Yanwan looked up and said apologetically, “I’m sorry. Could we pause filming for today?”
Though her face turned toward Chen Fei, her voice seemed directed to everyone.
At that moment, the sun was just setting. With her head slightly raised, the afterglow bathed her face in soft orange-red light, highlighting her elegant features and tall frame. She looked like a figure in an oil painting.
Especially her gray eyes, which under the evening light seemed to catch fire and glow with near transparency.
Chen Fei came back to his senses. Looking at the set that wasn’t yet ready, he nodded in agreement.
Having received permission, Ji Yanwan turned to the cast and crew and bowed. “I’m really sorry, everyone. We’ll wrap early today. As an apology, I’ll treat everyone to food and drinks. Please tell Abu if you have any dietary restrictions.”
Filming often faced unexpected delays, and actors occasionally paused shooting for personal reasons.
But for someone of Ji Yanwan’s status to not just pause production but also apologize and treat the crew earned her a great deal of goodwill.
Fu Suihe’s heart softened. Looking at the woman standing in the light and smiling at her, it felt for a moment like the entire evening had bloomed just for her.
The sky has no fixed perspective, but the human eye does. Some people see sunsets. Others only see shadows.
Standing in place, Zhao Mumu let out a bitter laugh and suddenly felt deeply pathetic.
The dinner she had been looking forward to no longer held any excitement.
Noticing her mood, Hu Luobei asked gently, “Sister, do you really like… her?”
Zhao Mumu gave a pained smile. “It’s just wishful thinking.”
Hu Luobei pressed her lips together and whispered, “Then let me help you.”
“Help me?” Zhao Mumu let out a long breath. “You’re still young. You don’t understand. My feelings are not something I should have. One day, when you understand, you’ll probably hate me for it.”
With that, she closed her eyes and refused to look at the girl in front of her.
She didn’t see Ji Yanwan leading Fu Suihe away by the hand. She also didn’t see the pain and quiet devotion in Hu Luobei’s eyes.
The actors, released early from filming, were in high spirits and began making plans to hang out.
Fu Suihe received an invitation to dinner from a senior actress on the crew.
This veteran was an unmarried Omega with significant standing in the industry, having won multiple best actress awards.
She had little interest in the power games of the entertainment world but held a soft spot for Fu Suihe, whose talent she admired. She had taken on this project specifically to spend time with her.
Fu Suihe couldn’t refuse her, but the thought of Ji Yanwan secretly going out for dinner with Zhao Mumu irritated her.
Right now, Ji Yanwan still had feelings for her. Her plan for revenge wasn’t complete yet. If Zhao Mumu got in the way…
Fu Suihe gritted her teeth, frustrated and anxious.
Just then, the bathroom door opened.
Ji Yanwan emerged, freshly showered, her skin damp with steam. Her hair was loosely towel-dried, still dripping at the ends.
The warm water had flushed her pale skin a soft pink, giving her a healthy glow.
Fu Suihe’s eyes darkened. She couldn’t help but step forward and wrap her arms around her.
Ji Yanwan was still drying her hair. When she felt a pair of slender arms slip around her waist, she slowed her movements and waited for Fu Suihe to speak.
But nothing happened.
Fu Suihe just held her, resting her head against her chest.
Ji Yanwan tossed the towel aside and reached up to stroke her head. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?”
Fu Suihe shook her head and stayed silent.
Ji Yanwan sighed. “Sweetheart, are you still going out to have dinner with Miss Wu later?”
Fu Suihe shook her head again.
Held tightly in her arms, Ji Yanwan gently patted her. “I’m going to have dinner with Zhao Mumu later. If you decide to go see Miss Wu, bring Abu with you and don’t drink, alright?”
When she finished speaking, the girl in her arms only gave a faint response.
Ji Yanwan couldn’t figure out what was bothering her and tried to pull away to ask more clearly.
But the arms around her waist moved again. Pale fingers slipped inside the collar of her nightgown.
She had just finished showering and only wore a thin sleep dress.
Fu Suihe’s sudden action caught her off guard. Before she could react, she was pulled down onto the bed.
Fu Suihe didn’t speak. She cupped Ji Yanwan’s face and started kissing her.
From her forehead to her eyes, the kisses moved downward. Her hands tugged at Ji Yanwan’s clothing.
The unexpected boldness left Ji Yanwan momentarily speechless. Just as she was about to ask what was going on, her lips were sealed by another kiss.
It was aggressive, almost like she was venting frustration.
Ji Yanwan’s own emotions were stirred. She quickly flipped over and pinned her down.
Fu Suihe didn’t resist. She reached up, wrapped her arms around Ji Yanwan’s neck, and bit down.
From her neck to her collarbone, her kisses continued deeper inside her clothing.
Ji Yanwan hadn’t had time to change after her shower. She wasn’t wearing anything underneath, and the oversized nightgown had already fallen open in their tangled embrace.
Her entire spring bloom was laid bare without a trace of concealment.
Fu Suihe’s eyes darkened again. She tilted her head and sank her teeth into the soft curve of Ji Yanwan’s chest.
Ji Yanwan winced in pain and drew in a sharp breath. Before she could react, a damp warmth brushed over the bite mark. A tongue was gently licking where the skin had just been bitten.
Ji Yanwan sighed and let her have her way.
Fortunately, Fu Suihe stopped after the bite and pressed a lingering kiss over her chest, leaving a faint mark behind.
Like a child inspecting her own territory, Fu Suihe sat back on Ji Yanwan’s waist with a satisfied look on her face.
Seeing her childish expression, Ji Yanwan chuckled. “Are you done now?”
By now, she had figured out the reason behind Fu Suihe’s little tantrum. The sweetness in her heart began to spread.
Fu Suihe gave a soft hum, pouting without a word.
The makeup on her face had already been removed, along with the cold and commanding aura she usually wore in public.
Ji Yanwan’s gaze darkened. A spark lit in her chest. In one swift motion, she flipped their positions.
The one who had just been sitting was now pinned underneath. Ji Yanwan lowered her head and kissed her lips, voice teasing. “Now that you’re finished, it’s my turn.”
Zhao Mumu raised her phone and put it down again. Her message inbox was still empty.
It had already been two hours since they wrapped for the day, but Ji Yanwan still hadn’t messaged her.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror, her makeup flawless, and suddenly felt the urge to laugh.
After filming ended, she had showered, washed her hair, carefully chosen her outfit and makeup — all just to meet someone else’s fiancée.
Everything about this went against the values she had been raised with. But her heart wouldn’t stop falling anyway.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, a gentle knock at the door pulled her back.
Zhao Mumu quickly wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened the door.
As before, Hu Luobei stood at the entrance with her hands clasped nervously in front of her, looking like a frightened rabbit.
Zhao Mumu cleared her throat, keeping her voice as calm as usual. “Is there something you need?”
Hu Luobei bit her lip and looked up at her.
Knowing how timid she was, Zhao Mumu didn’t rush her and quietly waited.
Hu Luobei reached into her pocket, fumbled for a moment, and then opened her hand to reveal a small pill.
Zhao Mumu looked at the little pill in her palm with confusion, tilting her head as she waited for an explanation.
Under her steady gaze, Hu Luobei’s cheeks turned pink. Her voice trembled. “This is… medicine. For you to give her.”
Realizing what she meant, Zhao Mumu’s brows instantly furrowed in rejection.
“It has no side effects,” Hu Luobei added quickly, biting her lip. “She’ll just feel weak. All you need to do is stay with her.”
Zhao Mumu looked again at the tiny pill, barely a third the size of her pinky nail. It would be easy to dissolve it in water unnoticed.
Just be with her…
After a brief silence, Zhao Mumu shook her head firmly. “No. Thank you for your help, but I don’t want to use something so shameful to win her over.”
Rejected, Hu Luobei lowered her head and bit her lip, looking like a child who had done something wrong.
Zhao Mumu sighed and was about to say something when her phone buzzed on the table.
She instinctively knew it was Ji Yanwan and turned to check. As expected, it was her. She had sent a polite apology along with the location of the restaurant.
Zhao Mumu’s mood instantly lifted. She turned back to speak with Hu Luobei, only to find the doorway empty.
What she didn’t know was that Hu Luobei hadn’t gone back to her room.
She had prepared two pills.
Stepping out into the moonlight, Hu Luobei walked down the stairs, heading toward the location that Teacher Wu had sent her.
