The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 27.1
Fu Suihe gave a faint smile and met the searching gaze of the person behind her. “Is something wrong?”
Ji Yanwan realized she had been staring too directly. She covered it up with a light cough and shifted her eyes to Fu Suihe’s neck.
She was wearing a plain white loungewear set. Her exposed neck was slender and fair, dotted with red marks of varying shades.
They looked like red plum blossoms scattered in a snowstorm.
The sight stirred Ji Yanwan’s memory. Her ears flushed with shame, and the caution she had just built up toward Fu Suihe was instantly swept away.
When she looked up again, her gaze had softened.
Bai Li, on the other hand, remained cold and her tone was sharp. “Miss Fu, the ingredient you mentioned earlier. What exactly is it?”
“It’s a sour plum powder I used to be late for during filming,” Fu Suihe said with a smile, tilting her face up. “When I was staying in Wuzhen for a shoot, I lived there for a few months. An old lady there loved to sprinkle this powder on dishes right after cooking. She said it was made from fresh black plums, dried and ground over a long period of time. Very rare.”
“I thought, since this was my first time cooking for Wanwan, I’d add a little to the dishes.”
“Is it not to your taste?” she asked.
Fu Suihe looked completely sincere, her eyes blinking with confusion, as if she had no idea what the issue was.
Looking at her innocent expression, Ji Yanwan found it hard to tell if she was lying.
Bai Li frowned, turned around, and went back into the kitchen. She carefully checked the lab report and confirmed that plum powder was indeed listed in the ingredients.
Fu Suihe was still standing in the entryway, waiting for a response from the other two.
Dressed in a white fluffy outfit, she looked a little lost, her face full of caution, like a child who thought she had done something wrong.
It was then that Ji Yanwan noticed Fu Suihe was barefoot.
She closed her book and frowned slightly. “Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”
Was she really in such a rush just to come down and explain?
Fu Suihe looked startled for a second, then quickly bit her lip. A faint blush rose on her cheeks, and her feet shifted uncomfortably.
In a quiet voice, she said, “Because when I woke up and saw you weren’t there, I got a little scared…”
“Scared?” Ji Yanwan didn’t quite understand.
Fu Suihe slowly stepped closer, gently reaching out to touch Ji Yanwan’s fingertips. “I was scared you’d disappear again.”
Her fingers were warm, her touch light, like a soft feather brushing against the heart.
Ji Yanwan turned her hand over and pulled her in to sit beside her.
Looking at the lingering blush on Fu Suihe’s face, Ji Yanwan awkwardly asked, “Do you… does it hurt?”
She hesitated with the question. Fu Suihe blushed instantly, her face and even her ears turning red.
After asking, Ji Yanwan felt parched, her ears burning like they were feverish. A wave of heat spread from her ears down to her neck.
Back in the kitchen, Bai Li carefully double-checked the lab report again.
Still unsure, she picked up the dish and walked out, planning to ask Ji Yanwan. But as soon as she opened the door, she saw the two of them sitting side by side on the sofa.
They weren’t doing anything inappropriate. They were simply leaning gently against each other.
Bai Li felt like she was seeing something unreal. Fu Suihe’s red ears made sense to her, but why were Ji Yanwan’s ears and face also flushed?
Weren’t they both supposed to be…
Bai Li couldn’t make sense of it, so she looked down at the now-cold food. Maybe she should reheat it again, just to kill any bacteria.
Giving herself a task, she turned around and returned to the kitchen, starting to reheat the dishes for the third time that day.
In the end, the meal, now with a little something extra, was finished by everyone.
Fu Suihe watched the two of them eat with focus, but there was no joy in her heart. The effects of the added ingredient had already worn off during the second round of reheating.
She looked across the table at Bai Li. Her posture was impeccable. Even holding a bowl, her back was perfectly straight.
This person was truly in the way.
After dinner, Fu Suihe volunteered to clear the dishes, and Ji Yanwan offered to help.
Bai Li, standing to the side, didn’t join the tug-of-war between them. Instead, she quietly stepped out to the balcony.
Just as she closed the door, a call came in.
Bai Li answered respectfully. “Hello, Miss Tao.”
A woman’s slightly hoarse voice replied, “It’s me.”
Upon hearing her, Bai Li quickly corrected herself. “President Ji.”
Ji Hesong seemed to be suppressing something. Her voice trembled slightly. “Is Wanwan doing alright?”
Bai Li understood immediately and answered seriously. “Third Miss is fine. As for the ingredient you asked me to investigate, Miss Fu seems to have a new explanation.”
After she finished reporting everything, the line went quiet for a long time.
Then Ji Mingtang’s voice came on, sounding impatient and disinterested, just as hoarse. “Got it. Go get some sleep.”
With that, he hung up.
But just before the line went dead, Bai Li caught a short, stifled breath on the other end.
In the stillness of the night, it sounded distinctly sensual.
Bai Li thought of the usually elegant and gentle heiress. That breath made her own ears flush red.
By the time Bai Li finished her cigarette and came back, the ground floor was already empty.
Ji Yanwan stepped out of her room wrapped in a towel and nearly bumped into someone rushing out in a shirt.
Fu Suihe was standing at the doorway holding a pillow, clearly waiting there for a long time.
“Is something wrong?” Ji Yanwan instinctively pulled her towel a little higher.
Seeing that defensive gesture, Fu Suihe’s eyes dimmed slightly and a hint of disappointment flashed across her face.
“I wanted to sleep with you,” she said softly, blinking with an earnest expression.
Ji Yanwan instinctively wanted to say no.
But then she heard Fu Suihe add, “My heat cycle isn’t over yet… I’m still feeling a bit uncomfortable.”
Fu Suihe had completely shut down the conversation. Ji Yanwan could only nod and open the door.
Fu Suihe’s expression immediately softened, and the excitement in her eyes was impossible to hide.
She quietly followed Ji Yanwan into the room.
The first thing she saw was a large black bed. The entire room had a cool-toned color scheme and minimal decorations.
It didn’t quite match Ji Yanwan’s usual style.
Unaware of Fu Suihe’s thoughts, Ji Yanwan felt her mind begin to race again just after it had settled.
Tomorrow was the engagement party, but today she had just been with Fu Suihe.
A strange, hard-to-describe feeling crept into her chest. An unexpected sense of responsibility started to rise.
Even though no official marking had happened, everything that could happen had already happened.
Ji Yanwan felt conflicted. The mission was right in front of her. Should she follow through with it or not?
While she stood frozen in thought, the mattress behind her dipped slightly.
A light floral scent drifted over, pulling her focus back.
Fu Suihe had already slipped under the blanket. Her pale face rested softly against the pillow, and her dark eyes shone brightly as she looked up.
Ji Yanwan felt another ripple of emotion stir in her chest.
In just one day, her feelings toward Fu Suihe had shifted so many times.
Moments of disbelief had led to this—both of them lying together in the same bed.
Ji Yanwan walked over to the wardrobe and took out two extra pillows. She tried to place them between them to keep a little space.
As soon as she did, Fu Suihe tossed them aside.
A hint of mockery flashed in her eyes. She said with a touch of annoyance, “We’ve already done the most intimate things. Do we still need this?”
Ji Yanwan paused, her hand still holding a pillow. Her ears were starting to burn.
Her mind wandered back to the cramped space in the car, the heat, the overwhelming sensation, and the strong scent of blooming flowers.
She dropped the pillow and removed the invisible wall between them.
The moment she did, the person beside her moved in close. Her freshly showered skin was soft and fragrant, and her damp hair carried a hint of steam.
Ji Yanwan remembered drying Fu Suihe’s hair in the nanny van. She never thought she would feel that softness again.
And she certainly never thought she would be lying beside Fu Suihe like this.
By the time she collected her thoughts again, Fu Suihe was already sound asleep.
Her slender, pale arm was draped over Ji Yanwan’s waist, and her long legs were tangled with hers under the blanket.
Her face, half-hidden under the quilt, was almost too pale, creating a striking contrast with the dark bedding. Her brows were furrowed tightly, as if even in sleep she could not fully relax.
Ji Yanwan noticed the tiny mole near Fu Suihe’s ear and couldn’t help but smile.
She gently released a trace of her pheromone. The woman in her arms responded almost instantly, rubbing against her unconsciously. The tension in her expression eased at once.
Compared to when she was awake, the sleeping Fu Suihe felt more natural, even a bit adorable, like a clingy little octopus.
Ji Yanwan tried to mentally review Zhao Mumu’s profile once again, but still couldn’t remember anything truly useful.
The engagement party was just a day away.
The countdown to the mission had hit twenty-four hours.
Ji Yanwan frowned and picked up her phone to send a message to Meng Jiayu, quietly reviewing the next steps in her plan.
The sky had brightened.
Breakfast was already ready downstairs. Just as Bai Li hesitated at the door, deciding whether to knock, it suddenly opened.
A woman walked out. Her long hair spilled down her back, and the few strands she had pinned up revealed her elegant profile and a very obvious bite mark on her neck.
Fu Suihe let out a soft yawn. Seeing Bai Li, she smiled gently and said, “Good morning, Miss Bai.”
Bai Li nodded and replied, “Where is Third Miss Ji? Breakfast is ready.”
“Wanwan is still sleeping,” Fu Suihe answered instinctively, rubbing her waist with a slightly playful tone. “Last night was a bit exhausting.”
She said it with a calm face, trying to read any reaction on Bai Li’s emotionless expression.
But Bai Li had no interest in this kind of talk. She simply gave a light reminder. “You both need to hurry. President Ji will be here soon to take you to the engagement party.”
Fu Suihe nodded with a soft and polite response.
Once Bai Li had walked away, she turned around and went back inside.
The person on the bed was still fast asleep, limbs sprawled out like a starfish.
Fu Suihe had fallen asleep early the night before. The scent of cedar had helped calm the discomfort of her heat.
But she had been so tired that by the time she passed out, the person beside her was still playing with her phone.
After washing up, Fu Suihe looked at the bed again and saw no sign of movement. She finally gave in and kicked her gently.
That one kick woke her up. Ji Yanwan sat up immediately, grabbed her phone, and muttered, “I’m here, I signed in.”
Then she looked around and realized she wasn’t in a dorm room and didn’t have morning classes anymore.
Not even five minutes later, the tension drained from her body and she collapsed back into bed with relief.
Just as Fu Suihe was about to speak again, the sound of heels and a wheelchair echoed in the hallway.
The moment she heard it, Ji Yanwan scrambled out of bed again.
Even before she opened her eyes, her body moved on instinct.
Before Ji Mingtao could speak, Ji Yanwan had already opened her eyes.
At the door stood the two older sisters of the Ji family. Ji Mingtao glanced inside. One girl was standing next to the bed, still groggy from sleep. The other had a toothbrush in her mouth and a blank look on her face.
Ji Mingtao pointed at Ji Yanwan. “Five minutes. If you two aren’t downstairs by then…”
She held her hand flat and dragged it across her neck.
She didn’t wait for their reaction. She pushed Ji Hesong’s wheelchair and left.
Ten minutes later, Ji Yanwan and Fu Suihe were fully dressed and seated obediently in the car.
Their legs were neatly together, and their hands were properly placed on their knees.
They looked perfectly behaved.
Ji Mingtao glanced at them and let out a satisfied hum.
