The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 27.2
“Wanwan, when we arrive, you both go straight to the dressing room to do your makeup,” Ji Hesong said softly. “Don’t let any reporters come in. Understand?”
Ji Yanwan nodded but looked slightly puzzled. “Why would there be interviews? Didn’t Suihe already leave the industry?”
Fu Suihe pressed her lips together, her hands nervously fidgeting in her lap.
“It’s not because of Suihe,” Ji Hesong replied calmly. “There’s a family attending who wasn’t originally on the guest list.”
Ji Yanwan’s heart sank.
And just as expected, Ji Mingtao spoke up.
“Wanwan, do you still remember that Zhao girl, Mumu?” Ji Mingtao asked, sounding more than a little amused. “That Omega you threw a tantrum over when you weren’t even an adult yet—the one you insisted on being with.”
Ji Yanwan’s lips twitched slightly. Her expression was a little hard to maintain.
Fu Suihe looked completely confused. “Was that Wanwan’s ex-girlfriend?”
That question seemed to hit Ji Mingtao’s funny bone. She burst into laughter, completely unconcerned with her image.
She had always been striking, but now her laughter made her even more dazzling.
Ji Hesong’s expression remained gentle, though her eyes darkened slightly. There was something indescribably indulgent and possessive in her gaze.
After laughing her fill, Ji Mingtao tilted her head and began telling the story.
The Zhao family wasn’t exactly high society in Jiangcheng. They were more like upper-middle class.
The family head was an Omega who had married another Omega. Through artificial methods, they had a daughter, an Omega—who they spoiled endlessly and named Mumu.
Since elementary school, Zhao Mumu and Ji Yanwan had been classmates. The difference was that Ji Yanwan was placed in the school through money, while Zhao Mumu got in through merit.
Although the Zhao family wasn’t extremely wealthy, they never treated Mumu poorly. She had always attended the best schools.
Zhao Mumu was intelligent and well-behaved, consistently ranking first in her class.
At some point during childhood, the kids began to develop emotional awareness. They started making little promises to the ones they liked—things like “I’ll come back and marry you when I differentiate into an alpha.”
Ji Yanwan was no different. After years of being classmates, she developed special feelings for Zhao Mumu and kept them hidden as a crush.
Eventually, her little secret was discovered. Zhao Mumu gently turned her down but also promised that they could talk about it again once they both became excellent alphas.
Ji Yanwan, of course, ignored the first part about becoming excellent.
She went home, threw a tantrum, and insisted she would marry Zhao Mumu no matter what—even if she ended up differentiating into an Omega, she would get surgery if that’s what it took to be with her.
At this point in the story, Ji Mingtao burst into laughter again. She laughed so hard her face turned red.
Ji Hesong, sitting beside her, gently tucked away a strand of messy hair, her gaze full of affection.
Ji Mingtao took a few deep breaths before continuing. “She was terrified she wouldn’t differentiate into an alpha. Since she knew Zhao Mumu would definitely be an Omega, she believed it was her only chance to marry her. So she got tricked by some drug dealer into taking illegal differentiation pills. Eventually, she had to be rushed to the hospital to have her stomach pumped.”
“And the best part? She was supposed to grow to about 180 centimeters. But those pills stunted her height by five centimeters.”
“She didn’t just lose her height,” Ji Mingtao said through more laughter. “That wasn’t all she lost.”
Tears glistened at the corners of her eyes from laughing so hard. Ji Hesong took over the rest of the story.
When Ji Yanwan finally did differentiate successfully, she ran to Zhao Mumu and confessed her love, full of emotion.
But the Zhao family didn’t want to risk offending the Ji family. Right after the college entrance exams, they quietly sent Zhao Mumu abroad. She stayed overseas for years.
That night, Ji Yanwan had prepared a whole room full of flowers and candles, ready for a heartfelt confession. She ended up pouring out her feelings to an empty house until late at night.
Zhao Mumu had excellent grades and only returned to China this year after finishing university.
No one knew how she got an invitation, but the Zhao family would be attending the engagement party today.
As the story ended, Ji Yanwan felt her mind go blank.
Why was it that, in her sisters’ version of events, she came off like some hopeless romantic when, later on, things had nearly ended in disaster?
And based on what she had just heard, Zhao Mumu was clearly not just a side character.
In a novel, this kind of person would be the white moonlight—the one you never forget.
Ji Yanwan clicked her tongue and sighed.
Fu Suihe, who had listened to the entire story silently, stared straight ahead without saying a word.
Ji Hesong noticed the subtle shift in her mood. She gently patted Ji Mingtao, who was still laughing, and gave her a look.
Realizing her mistake, Ji Mingtao quickly quieted down and gave a small apology.
Talking about someone’s first love in front of their fiancée was undeniably rude.
Fu Suihe seemed to return to the present only after hearing the apology. She blinked. “Oh,” she said softly.
The story had sent her into a daze. According to Ji Mingtao, Ji Yanwan and Zhao Mumu had practically grown up together.
Fu Suihe thought back to her own childhood. There had been no sunshine, no sweetness, no flowers.
Only the dim halls of the old Fu estate and harsh etiquette instructors.
She was never allowed to enjoy the sunlight or love. Her only role was to grow into a presentable flower in the dark and eventually be sold under the Fu family name.
So, she had no interest in Ji Yanwan’s youthful love story.
Fortunately, the car finally arrived at their destination, breaking the awkward silence inside.
Ji Mingtao was the first to step out of the car, gently carrying Ji Hesong with her.
The Ji family had deployed a very tight security system, so the area outside the hotel was completely empty.
Fu Suihe looked around at the wide open space. Her tense nerves relaxed a little.
She had lived under the spotlight for so long that suddenly stepping away from it left her feeling oddly out of place.
She thought back to the statement announcing her departure from the industry, and a small smile began to tug at the corners of her lips, unable to be fully suppressed.
Ji Yanwan was the last to get out of the car and missed that moment of satisfaction. She misunderstood Fu Suihe’s expression, thinking she was upset over the joke earlier in the car.
She hesitated, wanting to explain.
But Fu Suihe quickly smiled, putting on a flawless and gentle expression as if nothing had happened.
Ji Yanwan was wearing a dark patterned suit today. She had a chest patch underneath, and the crossed lapel design showed just enough collarbone to soften the look and keep it from appearing too stiff or formal.
It was hard to deny that Ji Yanwan, from her height and appearance to her family background, was the epitome of a perfect partner.
As Fu Suihe mentally calculated how much exposure they would gain if they appeared on a reality show together after marriage, she suddenly stepped into thin air and lost her balance.
Just as she was about to hit the ground, someone caught her firmly.
A calm Alpha voice sounded beside her ear. “Watch your step.”
Fu Suihe was a little stunned. She looked up at the person beside her.
The usual playful expression was gone. Ji Yanwan’s face was calm, nearly expressionless, with a cold and powerful aura that made others instinctively keep their distance.
Fu Suihe straightened herself using Ji Yanwan’s arm for support.
“Do you need a hand?” Ji Yanwan asked with genuine concern.
Fu Suihe shook her head and instinctively stood up straighter, eyes fixed ahead. “Let’s go.”
The two of them walked forward, shoulder to shoulder.
The decorative flower arrangements had already been changed, and their dressing room was directly across from the main entrance.
As soon as Ji Yanwan opened the door, the person slouching on the sofa inside quickly sat upright.
Before the person inside could speak, Ji Yanwan closed the door in a flash.
Fu Suihe, now standing outside: “?”
Once the door shut, Meng Jiayu burst into a mischievous grin. “Wanwan, that looked a lot like we’re sneaking around behind her back.”
Hearing her best friend’s teasing tone, Ji Yanwan rolled her eyes.
Meng Jiayu leaned lazily on the sofa and clicked her tongue. “You look so good today. Such a shame you’re about to stop being single.”
Ji Yanwan had no time for her nonsense and held out her hand. “Where’s the thing I asked for?”
Realizing her friend wasn’t in the mood to joke around, Meng Jiayu sat up straight and pulled something from her pocket.
She had received Ji Yanwan’s message late last night.
The message was brief and direct: bring the medicine.
If Ji Yanwan weren’t about to get engaged, Meng Jiayu would’ve thought she was planning something scandalous again.
Thankfully, the medicine she requested was a low-dose muscle relaxant. It wouldn’t harm anyone but would make a person temporarily lose control of their limbs.
The effect would last only thirty minutes, but the price was ridiculously high.
Ji Yanwan paid a hefty amount for a single dose and told her to bring it first thing in the morning.
Meng Jiayu looked at the small white powder, about the size of a fingernail, still a bit worried. “Wanwan, what are you planning to do?”
Ji Yanwan was focused on figuring out how to dilute the powder and replied without looking up, “Just drinking for fun.”
Meng Jiayu: “???”
After looking around the room, Ji Yanwan finally decided to use a bottle of mineral water. She poured the powder in and started shaking it.
This was the plan she had spent all of last night coming up with.
Running away from the engagement wasn’t the hard part. The hard part was making sure Fu Suihe stayed put.
If Fu Suihe lost the ability to move on her own, she’d have no choice but to stay where she was. That way, even if Ji Yanwan ran, she wouldn’t have to worry about Fu Suihe chasing after her.
All Ji Yanwan had to do was take Zhao Mumu and leave the main hall. Hiding in the dressing room would be best.
Based on previous missions, Ji Yanwan had figured out that once she received the system’s success notification, the task would be considered complete.
The instructions only said she had to “run away” from the engagement, not that she couldn’t explain herself afterward.
Her plan was simple: get Fu Suihe to drink the water, have her collapse in a chair, then slip away with Zhao Mumu into the lounge.
Once she heard the mission success notification, she would return and explain everything.
That way, Fu Suihe wouldn’t chase her, and she wouldn’t be humiliated in front of everyone for being left at the altar.
Ji Yanwan thought her plan was pretty solid.
Everything was planned down to the last detail.
After shaking the bottle several times, the powder had fully dissolved into the water. It was now completely colorless and tasteless.
Everything was ready. She just needed to hand the water to Fu Suihe before going on stage.
Mission: almost complete.
