The Beautiful Wife I Picked Up Is A Little Mute - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: I Know, Right?
Xie He wore a polite smile as he adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, his tone understated.
“Young Master Ji, please forgive the lack of hospitality during your sudden visit. How about I accompany you for a few rounds tonight? If you win, it’s yours; if you lose, it’s on me.”
Ji Hanyue met his gaze with a cold stare and spat out a single word: “Beat it.”
Xie He’s eyes drifted toward the Omega curled up in Ji Hanyue’s arms. Seeing this, Ji Hanyue’s irritation flared. He tucked Xie Mo’s half-exposed face back into the overcoat, leaving only the small, fluffy crown of his head visible.
Xie He let out a sigh as if realizing his mistake. He massaged his temples and said apologetically, “It was my subordinate’s negligence; they mistook the person.”
As he spoke, A-San was dragged forward, flanked by two men. Those two looked familiar—they were the same Alphas who had been following A-San and taunting Xie Mo earlier.
Xie He added, “The man is right here. However Young Master Ji wishes to punish him, just say the word.”
A-San’s teeth ground together with an audible grit. He struggled violently, but the men on either side tightened their grip instantly. They barked at him, taking advantage of their boss’s presence: “You dare ignore He-ge’s words?”
The veins on A-San’s neck bulged, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the bystander Xie He. “He-ge! I really didn’t know this Omega…”
Before he could finish, a stinging, fiery pain exploded across his left cheek. One of the Alphas had slapped him hard, spittle flying onto A-San’s face. Both of them were eager to make a good impression on Xie He. A-San held a high position; if they could topple him, one of them might be the next to be promoted.
“Who doesn’t know what filthy thoughts you were harboring? Quit making excuses.”
A-San had always oppressed his colleagues, and now they had the audacity to hit him. The blood rushed to his head as he blurred out:
“So what if I was! I wanted to f*** him! What are you two pretending for? You mean to tell me you haven’t thought about it too???”
The two men on his sides shook their heads frantically in denial. “Stop your bullsh*t, I’m only interested in Betas.”
The other chimed in hurriedly, “Yeah, exactly.”
Throughout the exchange, Ji Hanyue hadn’t said a word. Hearing their bickering, he merely let out a cold snort and turned to Xie He, repeating the man’s earlier offer:
“At my disposal, you say?”
Xie He nodded. As long as Ji Hanyue personally took action, Xie He would have a reason to preserve his casino.
Ji Hanyue shot a look at one of his bodyguards, too lazy to waste words. “Castrate him. Then mix it with water and pour it down his throat.”
Ji Hanyue then glanced sideways at the two subordinates. “You two will carry it out. If you can’t bring yourselves to do it—” he trailed off, drawing out the last note, “—then use your own to make up for it.”
The crowd was shocked by the statement; no one expected Ji Hanyue’s methods to be so ruthless. Even Xie Mo, curled inside the coat, instinctively peeked out. Ji Hanyue looked down and met Xie Mo’s incredulous gaze.
He asked casually, “Satisfied, baby?” He still had an account to settle with Xie Mo, but he would do that slowly once they got home.
Xie Mo nodded, then shook his head, and finally shrunk back inside, deciding not to look. Seeing Xie Mo acting so obediently, Ji Hanyue’s mood improved significantly. He wasn’t even in a rush to leave anymore.
The bodyguards, reading the room, tossed a knife to the two Alphas and jerked their chins, signaling them to act on the spot. The two Alphas swallowed hard, looking at each other, neither daring to move. Everyone present had those parts; just the thought of it made them catch their breath in phantom pain. To do it manually with a single knife—the victim would either bleed out or die of infection.
A-San’s eyes shifted from murderous rage to mounting terror. Sensing the grip of the two men loosening in their hesitation, he crawled to Xie He’s feet. He clutched Xie He’s trouser leg, his voice trembling:
“He-ge, I… I know I was wrong. Please, I’ll do anything, just don’t hand me over to him! If they do that, I’ll die, He-ge!”
A businessman only sees profit. When profit is at risk, any method of salvation—no matter how cruel—will be discarded without hesitation.
Xie He looked away, pulled a clean handkerchief from his pocket, and fastidiously brushed A-San’s hand off his leg. “A-San, you have to take responsibility for your mistakes. Just grit your teeth and endure it; it’ll pass.”
Ji Hanyue cleared his throat and clicked his tongue. “I have things to do. Please, speed it up.”
The two Alphas took a deep breath. Ultimately, their own safety came first. One grabbed A-San’s hands while the other picked up the knife with a shaking hand and walked toward him step by step. A-San thrashed like a fish out of water. Seeing this, the bodyguards stepped in to pin down his twitching limbs.
Ji Hanyue pulled Xie Mo closer. His warm palm covered Xie Mo’s right ear, allowing the boy to feel his steady, powerful heartbeat through the fabric. His other hand covered the left ear over the coat, completely isolating him from the piercing noise of the world outside.
Xie Mo froze in the Alpha’s arms, not daring to move. On one hand, he was afraid Ji Hanyue would suddenly let go and toss him away. On the other hand, he realized he had the same anatomy. Although his function wasn’t as “complete” as theirs, if such a thing were done to him, he would faint just the same.
The moment the metal buckle clicked, A-San’s final line of defense collapsed. He wavered between begging for mercy and screaming curses. Suddenly, his gaze landed on the bystander Ji Hanyue. Remembering something, A-San let out a piercing, hysterical laugh:
“The Omega you’re cradling—we found him in Tang Yingrui’s house!”
“You didn’t know, did you? He already has an Alpha! He’s probably been… by someone else long ago. And yet you still treat him like a precious treasure!”
Ji Hanyue didn’t get angry. Instead, he laughed and raised an eyebrow.
“I know, right?”
