The Apothecary Noble Lady Treated Like Trash Was Executed — After Being Pushed Off a Cliff, She Regained Memories of Her Past Life, So She Abandoned the Kingdom and Decided to Enjoy a Carefree Life in Another World" - Episode 16
“This isn’t a place for women to come!!”
“She’s bound to give up!!”
“There’s no way she can handle manual labor!!”
The people gathered around me start criticizing me. Their voices grow louder.
“Grrrrrr…”
‘……’
But the moment Ark growls in warning, the voices stop.
“I understand the job requirements. I don’t mind a trial run. If I’m not useful, you can fire me immediately.”
Even if I can’t do this job, it’s not like there aren’t others.
It’d be tough, but I could always take requests for exterminating the weakest monsters or delivering meat.
“Hmph, fine then. We’ll give you a shot. You, take that bag over there and move it to that spot.”
He points to a sack that looks about thirty kilos, roughly the weight of a bag of rice. Since I can carry Ark, this should be easy.
“Understood.”
Following instructions, I crouch down and lift the sack. I immediately pick it up, carry it to the designated spot, and return.
“Hmph, not bad. You pass for now. Like I said earlier, just follow orders and move the bags where you’re told.”
“Understood.”
“Alright, everyone, let’s get to work!”
“Ooooh!!”
“Ooooh!”
Following the others, I raise my hand too.
Ark stands watch in a spot where he won’t be in the way, glaring at anyone who comes near.
The other workers flinch when they pass by him.
“Heh heh heh, that’s the normal reaction.”
“Don’t get in the way of work.”
“Hmph, I ain’t doin’ nothin’!”
The bags are ridiculously light, and carrying them one by one is inefficient. Maybe I should take as many as I can.
“I think I can handle about ten.”
I stack the burlap sacks, lift them, and carry them to the designated spot. Even then, I don’t feel any weight at all. Is it really supposed to be this easy?
I go back and forth, methodically repeating the task.
I’m used to repetitive work from alchemy, and physical labor isn’t hard at all. In fact, since I’ve never done this before, it’s actually really fun.
So, this is what manual labor is like!!
I skip along as I carry the bags.
“Hey, hey, carrying two is tough enough. How the hell is she managing ten?”
“She hasn’t taken a single break since she started. What kind of stamina does she have?”
“Look, she’s not even sweating.”
I hear my coworkers’ voices, but I’m so absorbed in the work that their words go in one ear and out the other.
“Phew, that’s the last one.”
In about ten minutes, I’ve moved all the bags.
“Huh? What’s up, miss?”
I head over to the person supervising another area to ask for my next task.
“I’ve finished moving the bags.”
“Hah!? It hasn’t been that long. You’re not lying, are you?”
Well, compared to the others carrying two at a time, my ten-bag haul must have looked insane.
Super Health really is amazing.
“You can check if you’d like.”
“Hey, you lot, keep working!”
“Yessir!”
I lead him to the site.
“No way!”
“Can I get my next task?”
“Sigh, next, can you move those bricks over there?”
“Understood.”
I finish the next job in an instant.
“Excuse me.”
“Don’t tell me…”
The supervisor looks dumbfounded.
I get what he’s thinking, but it was too light. I finished before I knew it.
“Done.”
“No way! Alright. Can you help them carry those logs?”
“Understood.”
I head to the lumber pile.
Several people are working together to carry a thick log. I join in and grab hold of one.
“Hey, hey, don’t try to carry it alone. It’s impossible!”
A coworker looks at me worriedly.
“If it’s too much, I’ll ask for help. Here goes!”
But I say that and lift the log anyway.
Yep, totally fine.
I carry one log on each shoulder and move them to the designated spot.
“That’s impossible!”
The guy who warned me is just staring in shock.
“That one’s a little too close. Should I kill him?”
“He was just worried about me.”
I stop Ark before he says anything else dangerous.
The other workers quietly make way as I pass, and if our eyes meet, they quickly look away.
I might have gotten a little too carried away.
“Excuse me.”
“I’ve heard the reports. I underestimated you, my bad. You’ve got some insane strength and stamina.”
When I return to the supervisor, he just shrugs, still looking stunned.
“I’m surprised too.”
I never expected my physical abilities to be enhanced this much.
I’m not even tired.
“Next, I need you to help with setting up the scaffolding. Lay those planks across the framework.”
“Understood.”
I head to where they’re building the scaffolding, grab a plank, climb the temporary stairs, and start securing the boards in place.
Pretty simple.
Once I get the hang of it, I speed up.
“Ah—”
But I guess I got too excited. I accidentally slip and fall from the scaffolding.
—THUD
Just like before, I slam into the ground.
But again, no pain. Not dying from that is all thanks to Super Health.
“Wha—AAAAH! The girl just fell!!”
“She’s gotta be dead, right!?”
“Miss, are you okay!? Someone, get a doctor!!”
Everyone’s panicking.
“Sorry, I lost my footing.”
‘……’
I get up immediately, and everyone freezes, staring at me like tin soldiers.
For a moment, the entire site falls silent.
It’s like the world paused.
“Is something wrong?”
“HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE!?”
Somehow, the entire crew ends up shouting at me in unison.
