The Apothecary Noble Lady Treated Like Trash Was Executed — After Being Pushed Off a Cliff, She Regained Memories of Her Past Life, So She Abandoned the Kingdom and Decided to Enjoy a Carefree Life in Another World" - Episode 15
“What kind of quest are you planning to take?”
The request board was plastered with notices. Mostly extermination, gathering, or odd jobs. Payment could be made in cash or deposited directly into the guild bank account opened during adventurer registration.
The guild card was linked to the account, making payments convenient. Since only the owner could use it, there was no need to carry cash, reducing the risk of theft.
“Well, I’m still a beginner, so maybe helping with town troubles or gathering nearby items. Oh, and I heard some adventurers talking yesterday about recruiting workers for the castle wall expansion. That caught my interest too.”
“Hmph. Let’s pick a job quickly.”
“W-Wait a second!”
Dragged along by Ark, I headed toward the request board.
“There are so many different quests.”
From herb gathering to dragon slaying, the board was packed with requests. But most were rank-restricted, meaning I couldn’t accept them.
As a G-rank, my options were limited: herb gathering, delivering Beebeast meat, construction work on the wall expansion, slaying slimes and goblins, and cleaning the waterways.
The sewer cleaning was immediately out.
Not that I minded dirt or smells, but considering my current income and Ark’s meals, it’d be better to hunt outside. So, any job confined to the city was a no-go.
The others involved leaving town, which meant hunting opportunities.
But herb gathering was off the table. I’d need those herbs for potions later.
Delivering Beebeast meat? No way. I wasn’t used to combat, and I couldn’t even properly bleed game. Slimes and goblins? Same issue.
That left only one option: construction work on the wall expansion.
I was confident in my stamina.
“Excuse me, I’d like to take this request.”
“Construction work, huh? It’s pretty physically demanding. Are you sure?”
“I’ll be fine.”
I thanked the receptionist for her concern and accepted the job.
“But the foreman there is known to be pretty strict. And for someone as delicate as you, Miss Iris.”
Oh, was she doubting my strength? Honestly, I wasn’t sure how strong I was either. What should I—oh, I know!
‘Ark, sorry about this!’
A brilliant idea struck me, and I moved behind Ark.
“W-What are you—?! P-Put me down!!”
I lifted him up.
He was way lighter than expected.
I knew my strength had improved, but lifting Ark was effortless.
Super Health really is amazing!!
“Wha—WHAAAAAT?!”
The receptionist’s eyes nearly popped out of her skull.
“Oi, I knew she wasn’t normal!”
“She just registered, and she’s lifting a wolf that big like it’s nothing?!”
“Where’d she get that kind of strength?!”
“Glad I didn’t pick a fight with her.”
Huh? The whole guild was buzzing now. I thought it was a good idea, but maybe I messed up again.
The receptionist stared at me and Ark like we were some kind of circus act, her face twitching between shock and forced professionalism.
Finally, she snapped back to reality with a strained smile.
“U-Um, y-yes, that’s more than enough. P-Please put him down!!”
Her hands moved awkwardly, like she was handling a bomb.
“Hey, what the hell was that?!”
“Sorry, sorry!”
I set Ark down, but he was still growling. Still, I pressed on.
“Y-Your guild card, please?”
“Here.”
I handed over the card in its holder. A cute one I’d impulsively bought yesterday. I really needed to rein in my spending.
This was the best-paying G-rank quest, and afterward, I could gather herbs. Between quests and selling potions, I’d save up faster.
“Request accepted. No special equipment is needed, just head to the construction site by the designated time. They’ll assign your tasks there.”
“Understood.”
I took my card back and headed out.
“Do that again, and I won’t forgive you!”
“Sorryyy.”
Ark was not happy about being manhandled.
What would construction work even entail? Climbing up roofs? Digging holes?
No idea, but I was kind of looking forward to it.
“Good morning! Thank you for yesterday. Here’s the money you lent me.”
“Ah, from yesterday. Don’t mention it! I’m just glad you got it exchanged safely.”
“Well then, I’ll be off. Got a quest to do!”
“Take care out there.”
After repaying the gatekeeper, I left the city.
Twenty minutes later, I reached the construction site. Other adventurers who’d taken the same quest were already gathered, buzzing with energy despite the early hour.
Most were around my age. Being G-rank, they were probably all rookies like me. But there were no other women.
The moment I approached, all eyes turned to me.
“Oi oi, a girl? Hey, little lady, this ain’t some serving job, y’know?”
A bald, imposing man greeted me with a condescending smirk.
